At Katayama, we believe a picture frame to be art’s reward. Our 30+ year history in Northwest Portland represents a quilt of full art services. The Katayama staff of esteemed craftspeople includes wood carvers and intricate joiners, 23K gold gilders, frame restorers, plastic and metal fabricators.

Our extended art care with Murdoch Art Services incorporates on-​site consultation at our building or your home, excellent design, protection, restoration, installation and shipping of fine artwork.

Established in 1980.

For 30+ years Katayama Framing has been the NW destination for custom framing and fabrication. We are housed in a 10,000 square foot space in the heart of the historic Slabtown area of NW Portland. Come join our global clientele!

This is one of the top two framers in the Portland metro area. Come here if you need a hand finished frame, especially in traditional styles. It is a partner business with the Murdoch gallery, which covers older or deceased regional artists, international artists, and can handle art estates or secondary market sales.

Owner is super nice and offers great suggestions. Extemely talented employees. I believe all are artists. It is a world class framing shop. It’s fun just to walk around the shop and gallery. She’s probably framed 4 things for me over the years and they always turn out amazing. You pay a bit more here, but if you want something done cheaply and simply, you go somewhere else. 2 of the frames I picked out they had painted with interesting finishes. For fine art or something special, you go here. They have a wide assortment of frames so you don’t have to spend a fortune if you don’t want to.
