Foot Traffic

This place is amazing! It’s difficult finding the right pair of shoes, and Foot Traffic makes the process easier by working with you. I purchased a pair of Asics that didn’t work for me, and they took them back without questions. I exchanged them for a pair of Brooks that also didn’t work out. I was trying to stay away from Nike because of past experiences, but kept going back to them every time I’d go into the store. The people that work there are understanding and some know their stuff, while others get by. But that doesn’t stop them from helping you find the perfect shoe. Thank you Foot Traffic, the third pair worked out great and I ran my first half marathon in my Nike Lunars!

We had a fun time in Foot Traffic! Meaghan (she told me how to spell her name) was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable! She knew a lot about the running shoes my partner bought called Hoka One, for Hallux Limitus, which basically means she needs shoes which won’t let her toes bend. The shoes looked great! Meaghan was very helpful and we were in and out in no time!

This store has a lot of fabulous merchandise and will likely meet your running needs. However, I hope you don’t have any issues. We had ordered a glass for one of their runs and it was not there for pick up because it was broken. It’s three months later and still no glass. Supposedly was to be sent. I go in the store to get it and no go. Then the manager claims its sent and makes no ownership in it. Basically missing very basic customer service. Just apologize and make it right. Does it really matter? Win a customer by going above and beyond. Really disappointed and have no desire to shop there.

I’ve bought shoes here in the past, and the employees are always super knowledgeable and friendly, even when I don’t buy anything. What prompted this review, however, was the manager’s kindness when I walked in needing a jump for my dead battery. She made sure that the other customer in the store was taken care of by another employee and helped me jump-​start my car. Thanks, Foot Traffic!

I had a fantastic experience at Foot Traffic on NE Fremont. I initially went there to assess my gait and arches on the recommendation of my personal trainer. I can get a bit intimidated by specialized sports stores, but not in this case. I walked in and instead of awkwardly looking around for a few minutes before getting any help, I was enthusiastically welcomed and greeted by Megan who assisted me with my gait/​arch assessment.
My arches were fine (perfect really) but I needed way more cushioning than I had with my existing pair of gym shoes (Nike Flywire), and she expertly helped me pick the PERFECT pair of new shoes (Adidas Supernova Glide) I couldn’t be happier. If you go to Foot Traffic (and you should, just look at you ;p), ask for Megan. She’s is a gem! I’m not a «runner» per say, but my new running shoes are perfect for my jogs and general fitness activities. Besides, supporting a fantastic local business before a big box sports store is good karma. Do it!

Holy Cow! I had no idea it could get this good. I’m a runner but I’m no professional and I have to admit I was the least bit anxious about going into a bonafide running shoe store. I have bought running shoes on zappos before simply because it was quick and easy… but this was so much better.
Fantastic customer service. I did the treadmill analysis (walking for 20 seconds) and then tried on 5 or 6 pairs of shoes that were customized to my feet. I left with a great pair of shoes that I love. The best part is they were cheaper than if I got them online and I can exchange them in the first month if they give me any problems.
I am now a believer. I want the shirt, call me a fan. I’ll never go back.

I go to both the downtown Foot Traffic (FT) and the northeast store on NE Fremont. Both stores have friendly and knowlegable staff. When I brought up my concerns with getting a shoe that would help my running form (I have lower back issues) they helped pick out an appropriate shoe and recommended I attent a FT clinic on running form. Now that is service.
In addition I have paticipated in many FT sponsored events and my son has run track and cross country for their Portland Parks and Rec FT youth team. I want to single out Laura from the downtown store for being so helpful to me and my son. Thanks!

It’s your typical local running store, so you know what to expect … dedicated running freaks for employees (that’s a compliment BTW!), specialized stock of shoes/​gear that you’re not going to find at Foot Locker /​Sports Authority, gait analysis, and so on.
And as it is with most specialty shops, the outsider can sometimes feel out of place at first. Likewise, as it is with most specialty shops, the employees are more than willing to help you get outfitted with exactly what you need.
But what draws me to Foot Traffic is their stock of that wonderful Run Oregon swag. At this location, they had men’s and women’s logo gear in different colors, as well as 13.1 and 26.2 Run Oregon shirts. They also had stickers, which was on my car window with the quickness.

They do seem to care about what you walk out of the store with. However the young woman who helped me appeared very new and not very knowledgeable. She sent me out with a pair of shoes that were a bit too big. I wore them home and realized they were not the shoes for me. when I brought them back I was told since the right shoe was too ‘wrinkled’ around the toe box they could only issue me a store credit. the left shoe was fine and when I bought the shoes they looked like that out of the box. So I’m a little disappointed that since I brought them back in the exact same condition I got them in, they were deemed ‘too worn’. Just make sure when you buy shoes that they are perfect — or you won’t be able to return them for $$ — just store credit. I feel as if I’m paying for someone else taking back shoes that were worn and then resold to me as new.

After many frustrating trips to stores around the Gresham area I «Googled» running shoes. Foot Traffic came up so after reading reviews I decided to try them out. I’m so glad that I did. The staff was Awesome! They were helpful, informative, not pushy or condescending. I bought a pair of shoes & can’t wait to try them out. I will be making the drive from Boring to 41^st & Fremont from now on when I need running shoes.

Earlier tonight, I purchased a pair of shoes for walking. The customer service that I received was outstanding! The woman that helped me was very knowledgeable and personable. She was also very patient with me. I was not rushed to make a decision, which was a welcome change from some of the other Portland running stores that I have recently visited. I definitely recommend Foot Traffic.

Buying a pair of running shoes at Foot Traffic was a very pleasant experience. I was considering trying to find an outlet store of one of the major shoe companies that are here in the area. I just need a pair to go to the gym and run on a treadmill so for me, having a specific type of sneaker is not that serious. What is serious for me is the customer service experience. I will go out of my way to avoid Corporations, giving them my hard earned money, or dealing with their unmotivated and apathetic employees.
Foot Traffic appears to be a local-​owned family business. They film you walking on a treadmill and scientifically explain the mechanics of your particular walk with you. Then they suggest a pair of shoes that are compatible with your particular physical style. They care more about your comfort and needs being met, than they do about popularity, aesthetics, or keeping up with fashion trends. This is definitely the place to go for serious runners, and those trying to be. They have information on running clubs and groups if you are interested in that sort of thing. They still show respect and treat your right regardless of your running level or current needs.
Foot Traffic is the place to go for your running shoe needs.

A family owned business, with family members (and others) who work there. These people know running and walking shoes. They are very friendly and personable, unlike personnel at chain stores who just tell you what they’ve been told and what they think you want to hear.
I’d like to give them 9 stars out of 10, but a 5 star rating doesn’t allow that.

Foot Traffic is awesome! The staff are so friendly and helpful. They helped me find an awesome pair of shoes that fit me perfectly – just got back from a run in Forest Park.
