Days Inn Portland

Pretty much everything was bad. The airport shuttle only runs on weekday mornings, so I had to pay $ 30 each way for a taxi to and from the airport, which was a real bummer. They’re renovating the hallways, so everything is covered in black plastic and looks awful. There’s nothing in the area except a MAX station (thank goodness), a restaurant, a Burger King, a mini mart, and a gas station.
As far as the room itself, the lighting in the vanity area (which was RIGHT next to the door) was hidden, and only lit my chest down (so helpful!). The lighting in the bathroom was really weird, and there were mold stains in the shower. One of the lamps in the bedroom didn’t work, and the A/​C didn’t get very cold. And the towels! All the towels shed lint like CRAZY, so I had to use my own paper towels after every shower, which of course is so wasteful. And my key card demagnetized every time I put it in, or even next to, my wallet, which has never happened with any other key card before. So I had to go back downstairs every time to get a new key card, which was a pain, especially after a long, exhausting day out.
For $ 100 a night (what I paid), I was very disappointed. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to find decent hotels in Portland for under $ 150. This hotel had almost everything going against it, and it’s a 25-​minute train ride from downtown, and it’s in a sad, desolate neighborhood. And one of the front desk ladies had a bit of an attitude for no reason (although the other two were nice). I really can’t recommend this hotel.

I don’t think this hotel is worth the price. It recently went up to about $ 140 plus tax. They are renovating, but until they are done I feel like they should have kept their prices lower.
The rooms are clean with a nice tv with plenty of channels and the wifi worked well. The pillows are very fluffy which if that’s your preference you are in luck.
The breakfast has a lot of choices and was good.

You get what you pay for in a budget hotel. Recently renovating, ask for a new room… They might be able to get you one if you call ahead! New beds are extremely nice! Park in front near lightings, sketchy people in the area. Great diner right next door that I highly recommend and good hot showers at the hotel.

I really want to give this place a –10 but that’s not an option.
1. They overbooked and ran out of rooms so they stuck us in a smoking room that looked like it was never cleaned since they opened. They didn’t even bother to tell us when we were at the front desk that they ran out of nonsmoking rooms.
2.When we got to the room, the smell was so horrible! It smelled like an ashtray that had never been dumped out! My husband asked to change to another room and only then was it mentioned that they didn’t have any more rooms available. We used up ½ of a bottle of Febreeze to try and make the room smell less like an ashtray. Yeah, that lasted all of ten minutes.
3. What happens when you try to sleep in a poorly ventilated room that reeks of ass and ashtray? A sleepless night and a sore throat.
4. Refer to my pictures of the curtains.
I am never going to stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone, unless you wish them to have a slow and painful death.

I would never set foot in this motel again.
A) they spend all their money on the exterior and spend nothing on the interior. It looks bearable from the outside
B) it’s like Vegas. The motel halls are disgustingly coated with the unbearable stench of cigarettes. Vomit inducing artificial vanilla «odor removal» fails to make a dent in the smell.
C) we found dots of BLOOD on the sheets of our bed. Thank god we found it the morning or else I would have ran out half naked in the middle of the night. (Comforting knowing that you’re sleeping in a random’s blood splattered sheets)
D) the floors of the room make the pavement on the streets cleaner to sleep on
Do not recommend in the slightest.

Was not expecting much from a days inn, but this place exceeded my expectations. Service is way above par, best hotel breakfast service we have ever had. It is clean and comfortable, and the staff was so friendly and professional. We really enjoyed our stay here!

The price is affordable and it’s located walking distance from the train into Portland. As I was traveling solo — this was a big perk for me. The building is dated and there aren’t many healthy eating options in the nearby area. However, the staff is very friendly. And the workout room was on par with other hotels I’ve stay at which were more expensive. It’s a good way to see the area if you don’t mind being outside of the city.

$ 80/​night for 2 Queen beds with AAA discount. Free wifi and breakfast. Convenient access to airport and interstate highway. Friendly people, fast check-​in. It’s not a fancy place, but it does a good job for what it is, was where we needed to be, and was a good value for folks who were only barely going to be in the room. Also, awesome woman at the front desk last night. Funny and friendly.

I’ve stayed here twice and will continue to use this hotel whenever I’m in the Portland area. It’s nice that it’s outside of downtown, but really close to the MAX line and the freeway. Customer service was great! We had been driving back home from Newport and decided to stay in Portland (because we love it so much!). We were able to get a room and the front desk receptionist was very kind and helpful. Rooms are standard for a low priced hotel. Nothing amazing, but also not a shack. Don’t worry about bed bugs because we did not find any… at least in our rooms. Continental breakfast is pretty awesome! They have the regular stuff (waffles, bagels, donuts, etc.) plus some sausage patties, eggs, and biscuits and gravy! I would definitely recommend this to all of my family and friends.

I’m confused by the low reviews, We’ve been staying here for years when we come up for the big antique shows at the Expo center. Over the past few years the lobby, breakfast room and rooms have been maintained and upgraded. My 5 star review takes the reasonable price into consideration, There are services here we don’t find in more expensive hotels we’ve stayed in. The staff and general attitude of the place far exceeds that of a recent stay in Maui at a 4.5 star rated, $ 400 per night facility. Here, we feel like valued guests. The morning breakfast has a large variety. Something for evey taste. This morning, there were hot, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bisquits and gravy, yogurt, fresh fruit and a variety of muffins, bagels and breads. Cereal, too, The coffee is good, with a choice of 2 blends. They provide a shuttle service that picks us up at the airport, takes us back and forth to Expo (on demand as opposed to every hour)’ It’s all about acommodating guests here. Even guests with pets, and guests who smoke. Yet, there is no negative evidence of either pets or smoke, It’s nice not to have to rent a car, or deal with scheduled public transportation. Our room is clean, as usual, well maintained, has free wei-​fi, a mini fridge and microwave. The coffee makers have been upgraded to single pods, and are surprisingly good… not weak coffee. Again, the 5 stars takes into consideration the moderate price. We, re paying about $ 80 per night. There ate two restaurants in walking distance. a Burger King, and a nice mini mart next door. I’m a fan mostly because of the friendly, helpful staff, and general attitude

As far as hotels go, yes I have experience better. The beds were old and not really that comfortable at all. There was a lot of traffice to get into the hotel itself, and a sign in a better spot would help. Location I guess wasnt too bad. But for the price it was great, I think maybe like $ 70 a night. I didnt have any problems with anything else, its older and outdated but I think so is the city of Portland! I would stay here again, because the price is good. There is free continental breakfast from 6:30am-9:30am. I only woke up early enough once, but it was an ok breakfast. Biscutis and gravy, assortment of bagels and waffles, assortment of juices, and coffee. It wasnt bad at all. So 2 stars because yes I have experienced better, but would stay here again.

Mediocre at best… the highlight was that there was a liquor store attached to the hotel. (Hmmm, that’s a highlight???) So this was a prearranged hotel for us so don’t pass judgment.
The reason for the low stars is the following:
#1 I ask for an iron to be sent to my room and the front desk says I need to come down and check it out from the front desk. Then the iron comes with one of those mini ironing boards. I can’t put it on the desk unless I move all my stuff so I succumb to college days of ironing on the floor.
#2 The bed was lumpy like it had been used for 20+ years. Then in the middle of the night, while we were ASLEEP the head board starts to lean on us — broken off the wall. (For no good reason mind you). How the heck does that happen?
#3 The night time lock on the back doors of the hotel — the ones you need to use your key to get in «after hours» was open at all hours.
(Maybe my standards are just too high now??)
Good things:
#1 conveniently located off the freeway next to a good diner (I like Elmer’s its a «greasy spoon» type of a place, kind of like Coco’s/ Denny’s but not)
#2 has a continental breakfast (but I missed it because I slept in, darn, Elmer’s was better)
#3 did I mention there is a liquor store attached to the hotel… doesn’t stay open LATE but still… that’s classy :-)
Most likely would never stay there again by choice.

I can’t say enough about how great this hotel is. This was my second time staying there primarily for a relaxing weekend of rocking out at Ladies Rock Camp.
Pros:
clean rooms, high-​speed internet, laundry machines for guest use, great continental breakfast, wonderful & accommodating shuttle drivers and manager Mark who went out of their way to constantly drive guests back and forth from the camp, Amtrak station, and airport.
Cons:
There is a front desk employee named Sally (woman in her late 50’s with a perpetual scowl) who was rude whenever you requested anything. I had called Sally to book the original reservation and had to call back twice because she didn’t know how to open a block of rooms that were reserved for groups. Both times she told me to call back to talk to someone who knew what they were doing. It was really frustrating to the point where I almost booked elsewhere. I assume she’s been there awhile (since I saw her last year). I worked in the hotel industry for two years, and I’m surprised that she’s not able to perform simple front desks tasks like taking reservations from a group of blocked rooms.
Overall, I think they are excellent and shouldn’t be judged based on one employee’s poor performance… I highly recommend PDX’s Days Inn and will definitely stay with them again!

Stayed here overnight during a stop in Portland. Our room was a little small and there was a couple strands of hair left in the shower are my only complaints.
It’s cheap, the complimentary breakfast had a nice selection, and the motel itself is conveniently located near the freeway, market, and stores.
