Other contractors advised me to reinstall my garden windows with basic retro fit windows. Michal advised me to not make this mistake. He presented us a new technique that does not compromise the structure of the window and saves you from years of leaks and mold building in your window/​home. Hands down, he is an expert in this field and you should listen to his advise. There are other contractors out in the local area that try to put Michal’s business down. This is a reactive and unprofessional approach, due to them losing business to Custom Exchange Windows, since they are far more knowledgeable than other contractors/​businesses. I don’t mind you contacting me for more information. Michal and his crew are professional and kind.

These guys were great. Michal was punctual, honest, and accurate in his estimate. I’m sorry that Kristi cut her foot and wasn’t able to haggle on price, but in my case I found everything from the estimate to the installation to be very professional. Michal was very courteous and his installers were quick and efficient. They didn’t smoke, they cleaned all the windows after the installation, they arrived on time, they took exactly the amount of time to install that was promised, they cleaned up after themselves, and they were very polite. And most importantly, my windows look great. I highly recommend these guys and I’m glad to see such a great company representing Pleasanton.

We recently had Custom Exchange replace six windows in our town home. We were attracted to the company by its remarkably high customer ratings, which almost seemed too good to be true. In fact, their work and pricing lived up to the hype. Michael, the owner, gave us a price that was substantially less than the bid we received from a competitor. Michael and other company representatives were punctual. One of the six new windows arrived with a flaw; the installers showed us the defect and asked if we wanted them to go ahead with its installation while waiting for the manufacturer to send a replacement; after installing that window, an installer was out again within a week with the replacement.
Of course, only time will tell how good the Simonton windows are and how well Custom Exchange installed them; with that caveat, we have nothing but praise for the company’s work and pricing. We would certainly recommend Custom Exchange.

The owner (Michal) is great to work with. He listened to what we wanted and delivered a quality window, expertly installed, at a price that nobody else came close to matching. There was no high pressured sales pitch or trying to add on a bunch of unwanted fancy extras (no thank you, Anderson!). Michal’s professionalism and integrity were apparent from the start. A few very minor problems with the completed job (e.g., damaged screen, drain hole covers missing from one window) were corrected quickly and with no hassle. We replaced every window in our house and they look/​function great. The last test will be when it rains (oh please!) to ensure no leaks, but given the experience that we have had so far, there is no reason to think that this will be a problem. Bottom line… if you are in the market for retrofit replacement windows, do yourself a favor and make sure that you talk to Michal at Custom Exchange before you make a choice on your window replacement contractor.
Okay…it has rained a few times now since the windows were installed and all is well. We continue to be quite happy with our choice of selecting Michel and Custom Window Exchange.

I’m giving 2 stars because I did like Michael, the owner and operator it would seem. But their website is very misleading, you go there and it’s buy 1 window and get the 2^nd one 50% off. I bought 14 windows and a patio door for $ 9800.00 which to me was a lot of money. When I questioned Michael about the 50% off the 2^nd window he said it was for a different window than what I bought. Here is the deal folks, no caveat saying that is on the website so how do I know it’s true or not true. The workers were ok, one of them the younger guy loves to smoke over 10 min’s or so. My job initially the workers said 5 hours, it took 10 hours. I did feed them since I getting food anyway and they seemed nice but then they would speak back and forth in their native tongue, polish I think making me very uncomfortable in my own home. I felt at times they were talking about me, but maybe not, still unprofessional. Then they left their hand prints on all the windows for the most part never wiping behind them. For nearly $ 10k I would think a bottle of Windex for $ 3 bucks and a $ 1.00 roll of paper towels would be easy to get to wipe behind themselves. Then the trim around the patio door is white raw wood so I have to paint it because of the nail marks and putty over the nails. Finally the grand finale was when I went out this weekend to my car in the driveway (where their work truck was that day) to get something out and my right foot was cut severely but a large shard of glass left on my driveway for the installation a week before. Once my bleeding was under control and bandaged I found more shards left on the driveway. My friend over at the time my foot was cut and helped me reminded me if that was a neighbor or a beloved pet of my neighbors I would be sued for medical bills and so forth. All in all I was lazy and didn’t shop around, took Michael’s estimate and just went with it due to poor health I’m suffering, I just wanted it done. But I would not recommended to family or friends. Michael’s nice but he does not do anything but come out do the estimates and set up his guys, so he is ultimately responsible for the entire process start to finish and I was certainly not impressed for dropping a whopping $ 10K on glass…
UPDATE TO VENDOR’S REPLY BACK TO ME: It was pathetic he is trying to make me look like a jacked up crazy person. Yeah initially I did thank him to thank his guy about my roof leaks I was trying to be nice all along up until the big giant gash in my foot due to their carelessness. And him trying to say it was only after I got my windows about his website offer, so what? big f’ing deal. Be a gentleman and be a business owner and let me get the offer if applies even AFTER the transaction which was all of 1 day old after install. I’m so sorry even more I entered business with these people so sorry. Do what you want folks, don’t listen to me like the owner is telling you and you experience your own experience but I would never use them on any project again going forward.

I had one estimate one with Michal and based on my interaction with him as well as other Unilocal reviews, I went with him without any other estimates. He had sample windows with him which I could review. I went with the Simonton Daylight Max windows, and had the whole house (built in late 80s) done, which was 16 windows + the patio door.
He didn’t outsource his work, but his crew of two came a few weeks later, and installed all the windows in a single day. There was some minor issue w/​a small part of an arch window, but they promptly replaced it as soon as they got the part in a week or so later.
Very happy with the windows. Even though they are retrofit windows, the new Daylight Max type seems to keep the bezels (edges thin). Definitely a great investment to our home!

We spoke with four companies and went with custom exchange because they came highly recommended by our neighbor. From the very start, Mikal was extremely professional. This is what we liked about our experience
a) Option to chose from several brands of windows. We eventually went with Simonton brand. Custom exchange offered the most choice in brand of windows compared to the other companies
b) Cost. Mikal gave an exact quote and the actual price we paid stayed the same. With other companies the cost was double and in one case, four times, what Custom Exchange quoted. A third company quoted less than Custom Exchange but there was so many «ifs and buts» and unknowns that we were concerned that the final cost may be much higher than initially quoted
c) Reliability: Mikal fixed a date for the installation and completed the job exactly as planned. We changed all the windows in our home and a patio door, changed one window to a garden window. He showed up for all appointments exactly on time. As working people, it was great that we did not have to deal with no shows or delays
d) Very thorough and professional installation. The team of two was incredibly focused on the job. They did a very clean job and cleaned up all the broken glass.
Overall, very straight forward people. Kept to their word. A stress free experience for us.

i recently had my windows replaced. I had 3 estimates before I met Michal, the owner at Custom Exchange Windows.
He arrived on time on our appointment. He went over some options that his company could offer. He was very straight forward, explained everything in details and no sales talk.
After detailed reviews, I decided to go with Michal, especially after seeing all 5 stars on Unilocal.
I am so glad I made the right decision to go with him and his company. His staff Robert and another crew were professional and helpful.
I did not have a second thought of giving 5 stars for Custom Exchange. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to use his company.

I had Michal and his team replace the windows in our house back in April/​May. He was nothing but courteous, honest and helpful through the entire process. He was always there when he said he would be and the installers were nothing short of amazing! They were very professional in both communication and in their work. When they were done all they left behind was a house of brand new windows!

I was in the market to replace all the windows in my new home. I have two large sliders and 11 other windows in the house. I did some research before looking for starting my contractors search get an idea of what I should be asking when I interview contractors, and window products. I found a lot of reference info on the Internet. It helped.
I called 4 contractors to give me bids. Several showed me the same brand and model of window that would work for my place. I was going with a retrofit window because I did not want to have to repair stucco. Also, I wanted a retro window that did not take away too much window space, as retro windows do.
I made 4 calls and had 4 different estimates. I knew about what price range I should be paying. I received 4 quotes. The four ranged in price from what I expected to an unbelievable amount in excess of four times the expected range.
Mikal had submitted the bid within range, he was punctual, honest, and laid out exactly what he was going to do and did it. He listened to what I wanted and made his recommendation based on my wants. His crew came out and in one day, exchanged my windows, hauled the old ones away, cleaned up and I am very happy with the product I received. I also got a great price.
I have recommended this company to several people in the neighborhood, and others. I would continue to recommend Mikal and Custom Exchange in the future. Give Mikal a call, you won’t be disappointed.

Michal is great! He helped us put new windows in our 100 year old craftsman home. It was redone by a cheap investor and had yukky metal windows and looked awful. His quote was right on budget and we will be using him when we need the rest of home done. Our original quote from home Depot was insane. His craftsmanship is good and clean. Very professional. I recently started a home remodel and wanted to replace some of the windows of my aging house. I had 6 estimates from window installers in the area and not only was Michal’s estimate the most competitive, he also seemed the most trust worthy. Once I selected Custom Exchange Windows, Michal came back to my house and took very precise measurements for each window, noted the grid pattern and number of grids for each, and we placed the order. When the windows came in from Simonton, exactly on the 3 – 4 scheduled Michal told me about, he scheduled the installation very quickly. His team showed up on time, and meticulously installed my windows. They were careful not to scrape walls or paint, and cleaned up all of the installation mess when they were done. They look great!
Michal even knew I was having my kitchen counters replaced, so he scheduled a team member to come back to my house once the counter was in to precisely place the window trim around the kitchen windows.
Bottom line: Michal’s prices were fantastic, the ordering process was exactly as we discussed, the windows were installed perfectly and everything looks great. I couldn’t be more happy.
When it’s time to replace the remaining windows in my house, I will definitely have Custom Exchange Windows do the work!

We searched and searched for someone to replace our 10 windows and a patio door. People either talked too much or too little, and always quoted too much. We were certainly not impressed by most in this business. Then my wife found Custom exchange inc. and Michal knocked on our door. In 30 minutes we knew we were hiring his team to do the job. His quote was competetive, he was diligent following up on the status of the order and when the time came for install, his team did the cleanest install we imagined. The house is transformed visually and is more energy efficient than ever before. Great guy, great team, highly recommended.

To start, I had spoken to 5 window companies and Michal was the only one that personally came out to meet me instead of just giving me details over the phone. It was a great first impression and Custom Exchange already had the early advantage. Michal was patient in explaining the features of the windows, differences between brands and options, and offered his own suggestions as well. A few days after our initial appointment, my wife and I had a baby and I just got swept up in the busy-​ness of things and windows were at the bottom of my priority list. However, Michal would still check in every once in awhile just to see how things were going and never gave us any pressure to take his business. It was about 3 months later before we finally met again. I had cheaper bids lined up on the plate but things are not always about money.
We originally were considering only getting about 10 windows done but decided to do the whole house in the end (on our own accord, no sales pressure). Michal kept us updated on the timeline of things and after we set an appointment, his two guys came over and finished everything in one day. The house felt immediately quieter, warmer, and everything just looks so much better.
The only gripe I have is that the scheduling wasn’t so flexible. I was out of town for a few days and with the baby and work, my wife’s schedule wasn’t too flexible either. I tried to get our appointment moved back one week but because Custom Exchange had other appointments, they could ONLY do that day and it kind of threw a wrench in our day, but it’s understandable since they have a business to run.
All in all, when we had initially decided to upgrade our windows, I was dreading it. I knew nothing about windows and I didn’t want to deal with the sales pressure. My early experience with Custom Exchange blew the competition out of the water. The whole thing was hassle-​free and I am very satisfied with the results. Highly recommended.

We wanted to replace all our 24 windows. Michal’s was the first company we called and also the last.
We decided to go with Michal for two reasons: (1) He seemed nice and trustworthy, and (2) the technical comments he gave were consistent with what we had learned elsewhere.
In the beginning, we were struggling in choosing between two brands. Michal recommended Simonton for its light, whereas we preferred Milgard for its style. Michal gave us quotes for both choices, and both quotes seemed competitive based on what we learned from our friends (again, we did not talk to other companies).
Finally, we decided to go with Milgard. Then everything that followed was smooth. We waited for no more than 1.5 months before all the windows were ready. The installation took two days. There were two installation guys; both were professional and fast. The jobs they did were good, too. I did not have much interaction with them, but my wife was satisfied overall.
I wanted to mention one story. One of the 24 windows was long and narrow. Because Milgard windows have wider trims, that window had extremely small glass area — apparently, it looked ugly. When Michal saw this ugly window, he immediately ordered another one with smaller trim, and, thus, wider glass area. He did not charge any extra for this.
It’s been only two months since the windows were installed. We couldn’t tell anything other than the ordering and installation experience.

Note: #2 on cons was informed to me before job was started, but still would have liked this to be completed as part of the service!

I turned to Unilocal when I was looking for someone to replace the windows in my house. I decided on Custom Exchange since they have 5 star reviews across the board, and now I why. They were great!
Michal was able to come out the following day after calling for an estimate. He was on time, very informative, and didn’t try to sell us the most expensive windows. He told us that we could get the most expensive if we wanted, but that it wouldn’t be necessary and that there were other window options that were just as good, but less expensive.
When I called to make the appointment for the installation, I told him that I’d prefer to have it done before I went back to work from maternity leave. He said that wasn’t a problem, that he would shuffle appointments as needed to make it happen.
The guys that came out to do the installations were very courteous, professional, and quick.
I would definitely recommend Custom Exchange to anyone!
