San Marcos Creek Vineyard

This is the BEST winery I have been to EVER. The host is great, the wines are creative, and the property is beautiful. Kim is a great host and Roberto is one hard working dude trying to make the property as best as it can be. I will be canceling other winery clubs to join the San Marcos Creek club this Fall!
Great table wine, great white Merlot!

Had the opportunity to meet one of the new owners (Kim) of this beautiful vineyard, and Brady the former owner/​winemaker. What wonderful people! They were very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful when selecting and tasting their various wines. I wound up buying more than I had planned. My favorite was Flings First Crush, I wished I had bought more.
The facility is ever growing. We got a mini tour of the new bed & breakfast cottage which has 4 beautifully decorated bedrooms which overlook various areas of the vineyard and grounds.
This vineyard is definitely on my must go to list when in Paso Robles.

We enjoyed the wine when we stopped by the tasting room on a trip along 101; we joined the wine club.
But it turned pretty sour when we tried to cancel our membership in the wine club in spring 2014.
SMCV has now charged our credit card 3 times AFTER we provided evidence we cancelled the wine club in spring 2014.
We thought it was resolved in fall 2014, when SMCV finally said they cancelled our membership, but then SMCV charged us for a wine shipment again in April 2015. Then, after the credit card company reversed that charge, SMCV charged the card again in June 2015 — for what, we don’t know because they don’t respond to queries.
For the latest charge in June, SMC actually changed the expiration date on the credit card number they had on file so the charge would go through on an expired card.
We just received notification from the credit card company that the charge was reversed. Now we’ve received another notification that something is coming from SMCV from UPS. The credit card company says the only solution is to cancel our card and issue another.
Be warned.

A wine bar that plays light country music and hosts wine tastings with plenty of depth, including fruit-​forward varieties in the beautiful rolling hills of Paso Robles. Family owned. Sense of humor welcomed. This isn’t your Napa jailhouse wine. We had to leave with a bottle, and will probably join the wine club.

The only, only pitfall of this place is the difficult to find driveway. Otherwise, everything about this winery was excellent!
The wine was some of my favorite in Paso Robles. San Marcos allows you to pick from a wide variety of the wines they make. They make a white merlot that was so good I had to leave with a bottle. My friend left with a red. I wish we would have left with some of the delicious crackers they serve with the wine.
The wines are reasonably priced, and you can put the tasting fee towards a bottle. Our staff member was one of the owners, and she was fantastic!

I love stopping in here, for many reasons:
*WINE: lots of different wines to try, and many of them are decent to good. We like the port, red table wine (great, inexpensive pasta wine!), and their big red blends.
*STAFF: This includes the dog. Dog welcomes you, staff is really nice. This is family-​run, so you can chat with the people who make the stuff. They are friendly and will recommend places to taste and eat.
*SHOP: You can check out the cute stuff in their tasting room — much of it is wine-​related, and some boutique-​y décor items as well.
*EASY ACCESS: This is our warm-​up for Paso wine, because it is the first one we hit. It is right off of 101. Surprisingly, this does not ruin the ambience at all.

I’m not a big wine drinker, but San Marcos has an amazing property. You wouldn’t think so, being so close to 101 and all, but it still stands out with a nice picnic area and everything.
Plus, they’ve got a real nice dog that’ll clean up any scraps you drop.

We were looking for a place to stop as we were entering the Paso area from 101. Sean C. was right when he warned about looking closely for the exit. You need to look for their driveway and sign, otherwise you’ll pass it and be making a U-​turn like we did. Brady was very low key at first, as we went directly to the wine accessories and meandered around the shop before bellying up to the bar. All of his wines were delicious, and he matter of factly told us «it’s easy to make good wine if you have good grapes.» They’ve definitely got some good grapes. I and my two bffs all joined their wine club. We couldn’t afford not to join:)

This place knows how to throw a party. We went to the avoid the park party and had pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and wine for $ 10. It doesn’t get better than that, they had live entertainment and they are dog friendly. Stop by the wine maker is a very nice guy and very knowledgeable.

Clappin’ down the road after a good time here. Winery is literally off the freeway exit while goin’ south on the 101. Look for the signs and look for immediate yield. The house, the pond, the peacock, the dog — these are things you may see upon entrance. Inside it’s a Tuscan dream. The reds from Syrah to Pinot are outstanding members of the genre but there is even a finer surprise. NV Late Harvest Zinfandel, ruby port dessert wine. Imagine cold evenings by the fireplace, you will want to sip this. Other fine novelties and treats including Never-​Let-​Me-​Go Toasted Sunflower Seeds you will want to munch on The Road Home. #emotional and #movielove

Cathy and Brady did a great job of greeting us and our party of 12. We tasted multiple varietals and we were impressed by the broad selection of Estate grown wines. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff was informative without being overbearing as so many wineries (Hearthstone) can be in telling you what you should be tasting. We were accommodated with a very reasonably priced bottle of wine that we enjoyed while sitting on their beautiful back patio. The Red Table Wine was great and the Zinfandel was noteworthy.

This is a great vineyard with friendly folks who are passionate about making high quality wines. We always stop by this place whenever we are in Paso, and just love chatting with Brady and Cathy. We’ve been members of their wine club for several years and I was amazed when Brady actually remembered my name this last summer during our visit! As described, the tasting room is beautiful and they offer great selections for tasting, as well as tons of fun wine gifts, etc.
As for the wines, hey I’m biased! They have been making consistently great reds and my personal favorites include their Zins, Syrahs and Cabs. They also have some amazing Petite Sirah, and their late harvest Zin is a wonderful almost port-​like apéritif great for sipping in front of a fireplace.
This place is literally right off the 101 and you can easily pass it if you are not careful. It is also quite a bit away from the wineries that line the 46 west and east. But, it is well worth the stop.

This place is absolutely beautiful, with stunning peacocks out front. We came here during the week about lunch time and we were the only people there. Free wine tasting and the woman who was pouring was very helpful about where to stop and eat lunch.

Not extremely close to the clutter of wineries in Paso, but it’s conveniently RIGHT off the 101.

Also, every time I’ve been here, I’ve gone home with at least 2 bottles of the White Merlot. t’s the only White Merlot I’ve ever seen/​had. They also always waive the tasting fee if you buy a bottle, which works out perfectly!

San Marcos Creek was one of the first wineries we went to in Paso several years ago. We loved the wine and immediately joined their wine club. We have stayed members in spite of several moves around the country. Wines here are consistently bold, fruity, and just plain good. We are especially fans of the their Cabs.
Their tasting room is very nice, convenient, and we’re always made to feel welcome. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area and are trying to figure out which of the many choices to visit.
Club members have regularly been offered great deals via email, so you’ll always have lots of great tasting wine at good prices.

Brady and Cathy are absolutely wonderful and always make you feel like you are a guest in their home. The property is meticulously maintained, has a beautiful pond and an outdoor sitting area. Chloe, the winery dog, usually comes to greet you.
The tasting room is beautiful and has plenty of room to accommodate a number of people at one time. There is also a cute shopping area with t-​shirts, fun wine trinkets and various food sundries.
So for the wine, San Marcos has reasonably priced wines that are very good. Our favorites include the Red Table Wine, ’09 Zin, ’05 Epiphany Estate Cuvee, and their ’06 Sapphire Estate Cuvee. We enjoy almost every wine that is poured each time we stop in.
Brady and Cathy always take the time to explain the various wines, share stories of the wine making process and answer any questions you have. Even though we don’t live in the area and have only gone in a few times, they both greet us by name when we come in. They truly make you feel like you are a friend of theirs; remembering bits of conversation from the last time, such as where you work, where you are from, etc.
If you are in the area, I would highly recommend a stop here.

A nice oasis in the middle of nowhere and a great place for a pit stop with the benefit of tasting wine. The grounds are beautiful with geese and peacocks enjoying a pond.
If you are coming for the wine, its pretty much on par with Paso Robles: a little too heavy handed for my tastes. But the owners are friendly and it sure beats taking a break at a rest stop!

Always stop there. San Marcos Creek is my favorite winery. I have probably been to over 100 wineries and we never miss stopping there driving down highway 101. Beautiful tasting room and picnic area, the friendliest staff ever and very good wine. You will leave there with a smile on your face.

This vineyard was our first stop of the Paso Robles wine trip in 2006. San Marcos Creek was certainly a good first stop. This vineyard make absolutely tasty Zin, Cab and Syrah. We were really lucky that day to meet the hostess Cathy. She was very nice and gave us many great recommendations on which wineries we should go based on our wine preferences. Without her recommendations, we probably would be lost in a sea of wineries, and had a miserable time to try to figure out the worthy from the mediocre.
