Bad customer service! Rude and unprofessional, I would not recommend them, a waste of time! There are plenty handyman services with better pricing and better customer service.

I highly recommend Your Local Handyman, Inc. Don’t be misled by the name, because they are full service licensed contractors. They do everything. I had them work on a house that needed significant work due to its age and neglect. The work conditions were VERY challenging, and yet they never complained. They completely remodeled the bathroom, all the way down to the floor joists, and did an excellent job of it. Chris, the owner, has assembled a wonderful team of professionals. Thank you especially to Justin and Anthony, who were on the job nearly every day. Also, Enrique and his guys did a wonderful job with the painting!
I like the fact that YLH workers work in an organized fashion, and are quite fast without being careless. I have hired contractors before who do superb work but are as slow as molasses, thereby costing more in the end.
YLH workers are courteous, conscientious and hardworking. I also especially appreciate that none of them smoke and they always show up for work clean and well groomed. I have hired some tradespeople in the past, and while the work was fine, it was unpleasant to have them in my home because they reeked of cigarette smoke or even beer. This sort of thing matters to me. Chris and his team went the extra mile for me, as I was under deadline to get the work finished. They worked extra hours and on a Saturday to make sure the job was completed on time.
As for price, I would say that YLH charges a bit more than average for the work. They are not the most expensive contractor in town, but they do not come cheap. Their prices are fair considering their experience and the quality of the work. I believe it is well worth working with this team, over a cheaper contractor. I find that you usually get what you pay for.

Highest praise for Your Local Handyman, Inc. Point-​man, Chris, responded in a timely fashion each and every time I called. He had me send pictures to diagnose the problem from afar, saving me the extra expense of a second visit. Chris predicted precisely what part I needed to get from the manufacturer; He and his team then proceeded to fix my water heater, post haste, for exactly the amount quoted. Teammates Justin, playing hurt after an injury the day before, with no complaint and pure professionalism, and Anthony, changing out a suspect switch because it was there, and he could, rounding out a team I would welcome back to my home for any fix, any time.

This is a group of contractors with a wide range of skills that can help with your home project needs. The prices are reasonable for the quality of work. They are efficient, on time and do good work. I would recommend Your Local Handyman and will use them again on my next project.

Chris and his assistant corrected some water damage to wall in a home rental. My property manager (Nick b.-see his review below) allowed a new wall ac unit to be incorrectly placed after water damage was evident. My office flooded and I had to refrain from using the ac unit during record breaking heat. In comparison to many other estimates, Chris offered a very reasonable price. He was able to quickly assess the problem, document all damage, reinstall the ac until and leave the wall in pristine condition. A day and a half worth of proposed work turned into 3 days worth of work. Chris even came in on his day off. The wall looks better than ever. I found Chris to be extremely professional and approached despite the circumstances. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Chris to address water damage. I would give him 10 stars if I could.

I can’t believe this company over charged a friend of mine! I would never never recommend this company to anybody! They charged 3 time the price any other Handy man in Pasadena.

I called Chris for a simple job. My sliding glass door was becoming increasingly difficult to maneuver. He sent Justin to repair the wheels on the door. Unfortunately, my door was too old to find immediate wheel replacement. Chris special ordered a pair that he could retro fit to the door.
Enrique came to install the new wheels and it’s as if I have a new door!
Had Chris not thought of custom wheels, I would have had to replace the entire door which would have been far more expensive. Chris was great at diagnosing the problem and completing the least expensive repair possible.
Also, I think it’s very important to note that Justin and Enrique treated me and my home with the utmost respect and professionalism. They were neat and clean and very careful with everything in my home. What a pleasure!

Chris and his team are first class. I called Chris on a Monday left a message. He called me back within the hour — then he ditched his lunch and came over same day to quote me for a simple job — not a big earner. Booked his guys to do the work the very next day — they were on time, super smart, efficient, polite and cleaned up everything before they left. Reasonable rates, which he broke down and explained each cost, so I could understand the final figures made sense. Plus the time Chris said it would take them to do the job was accurate and the work first class. Couldn’t be happier. Will use them for many more future projects. Great find.

After needing immediate lighting fixed for our store, we had called around to several local handymen in the area. However, no one could compare to the professionalism of Chris and his team. He took time to explain in detail what would need to be done, as well as giving us a more cost-​efficient option. «Your Local Handyman» came through over the phone! They are so good that they didn’t even need to visit my home to solve my simple problem. One of the rad members of this business took three minutes out of their Sunday morning to help me over the phone free of charge! They’re an honest business that just wants to help.

We had 6 recessed lights and a small TV wall mount installed a couple of months ago. Chris and Justin were responsive, timely and professional.
Their pricing was on par with other estimates.
Most importantly, the work as exceptional!
My wife and I are very satisfied, we’ll definitely contact Chris again for other jobs in the future.

Chris put in a ceiling ladder and did some shelving alterations for me. The process was efficient, professional and friendly. Most of all, I felt valued as a client and could communicate with him very well. The ladder he put in is sturdy and I got the impression that he truly cared how it turned out and wanted it to be perfect. He wasn’t in a rush to leave the job half done. I would definitely recommend him to you.

2 week bathroom remodel. Chris was efficient with time yet took no shortcuts; everything was done the «right» way. Estimate was straightforward and there were no surprises on the final invoice. Above and beyond my expectations. Chris and employees were professional and honest. Would definitely use again/​recommend.

After moving into my new home, I employed Chris to make several repairs — I found Chris to be very professional and responsive! Chris provides an estimate prior to beginning the job and completes the job in a timely fashion. I have worked with Chris for two years — during this time I have never asked Chris and his crew to return due to poor results or an unfinished job. Also, Chris and his crew are professional, very polite, and clean up after they complete the job. Overall — Chris and his crew are awesome and I highly recommend them!

Called in for an issue with my mom’s ring that fell in my AC vent and Chris had promised to get it out. I found out later since I had to leave for work, that not only did they not retrieve the ring, they still charged my mom even for unsuccessful attempt. I should have called a cleaning company or a perhaps a plumber but I was assured that it would be retrieved. Just disappointed that we still had to pay.

They may do good work but I wouldn’t know. Just as others have also noted, they don’t feel the need to respond to requests. I reached out to them a couple of times about some repair work and they never bothered to get back in touch with me. Not a call, not an email, nothing.
If you are too busy or don’t want to do the work, I can understand that. But to completely ignore potential customers, unacceptable.
RESPONSE TO OWNER COMMENT: Interesting to note that they are too busy to send a quick note to my multiple work requests but not too busy to respond to a bad review on Unilocal.Seems like they are more concerned with perceptions than reality. Also, there may be 12 million people in LA county but that has no bearing on anything. They sure aren’t serving all of them because they don’t take the time to respond to them.

Chris normally services the Pasadena area, but ventured out to Granada Hills for my project. At 9 months pregnant, I told him I needed the job done ASAP. The closets in my rooms run the span of the entire wall, but for some reason, the prior owners only had two 24″ doors to access the storage space (which meant you can’t reach to the left and right to retrieve things once you put them in!). I asked him to install 2 sets of 30″ double doors for the nursery room and one set of 24″ double doors for the guest bedroom (before and after photos attached).
Chris came out on a Sunday to look at the rooms, and had a quote to me shortly thereafter via email. He was very professional and understands the importance of the being responsive and prompt. Other contractors can go MIA for days at a time when they are busy with other projects, which can be very frustrating. Chris was very responsive by phone, email and text message. He even carries an iPad with him to generate quotes/​invoices!
Chris and his team always arrived on time and did a wonderful job. He is very DETAIL ORIENTED, and makes sure to get the job done right and well. I also had him install a double curtain rod over my sliding patio door, and hang a few mirrors around the house as well. We used to have to open a door to allow ventilation access for the air conditioner, but Chris suggested installing a vent instead on the bottom half of the door so it wouldn’t be such an eye sore. Great idea on his part!
With an older house like ours, there are always things that need to be done/​upgraded. I will definitely be giving Chris a call again soon (picket fencing, wall repairs, windows, etc).

I think it is pretty funny when someone gets a bad review not for their actual work but because someone didn’t think that they answered their phone quickly enough. I called Chris because I had a house full of projects and needed someone who could be flexible enough to handle plumbing as well as electrical issues and could also do carpentry. I have hired contractors before and found that they generally just know how to delegate to subcontractors and pad their invoices. Chris, however, can do all the projects himself. He is an honest, hard working, friendly and capable guy who knows what he is doing and charges his clients reasonably.
For those reasons, he is in high demand. I have suggested that he get a phone service since his phone rang almost constantly while he was working and he spent his breaks calling people back. For the people who can’t reach him immediately, keep trying. I will never even consider using another handyman for my home projects even if that means I have to wait — Chris and his crew are worth it!

Chris remodeled my kitchen and was absolutely stellar! Not only did he finish on time but worked with me on keeping my low budget on track.
He was very professional. He found work arounds during remodel «crises» and when the granite was improperly installed he called the owner of the granite company to make sure they would be out immediately to put a brand new piece in.
I have since used him at my duplex to fix leaks, install new air conditioning units along with all sorts of other small jobs.
This guy is someone you need to keep on speed dial!
