Fantastic Work! Vic was lightning fast, professional, and no hassle. I highly recommend Abe’s Lock & Key! He kept his appointment, was early. Focused on saving us money, and did it in record time. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again. Vic even fixed a bad latch for us without an extra charge. Highly Recommended!

I just had him re-​key my house. He showed up on time in POURING rain, and was as pleasant as punch. He’s a sweet, unassuming, very mild mannered man who just wants to do his job and do it well.
I was running late to meet him when he called to say he was at my place, and when I told him I’m running late because of the rain, he said «drive carefully.» Not your typical contractor response, I’ll tell you that!
When I got home i had a pile of Amazon boxes in front of the door that he sweetly helped me carry inside: I didn’t ask him to help me, he just helped to be a nice guy. then he got to work on the locks.
He created new keys for my very old, very rigid locks, and he made solid brass keys so they’ll last longer, I think the brand he made were Schlag. He even greased the locks in the house and advised me about what kind of locks to get when we renovate the house.
He’s a lovely, sweet man who definitely knows way too much about locks and keys and cylinders. He does a good job, and leaves things better than he found them.
I recommend him wholeheartedly.

I bought a used desk and matching file cabinet. Turns out that there were no keys! Vic came by and found the codes needed to order new keys. There were two possibilities for each key, so he gave me both to try and didn’t charge for the lookup or the set that didn’t work. Now I have keys to my desk and cabinet!
Paul is always in the office, and he is always friendly and professional — Did I mention Quick, too? He’s really made the office pleasant to be in, and we like to look at the antique equipment originally owned by Abe.
I remember going to Abe’s as a child with my dad. Now my daughter and I go to Abe’s! The quality and service is still great.

Today I took my Van to Abe’s Lock & key to Install two safety lock on the doors. I was very impressed by their kind customer service and professionalism. they really took their time to install the locks very accurately, not to mention at the end they even gave me a better price than what they quoted me originally. Being in the service industry myself, I highly recommend to use their service. You won’t be disappointed.

Definitely an expert in the trade. I think the only issue I had was I felt the pricing wasn’t straightforward at all and I ended up paying almost double what I thought I had been quoted over the phone. To replace three knobs, match the locks, drill and add a deadbolt and get 3 keys, I paid around $ 350? Before you start the job I would strongly advise getting a written (not just verbal) list of all the charges — parts, labor and the fee for coming out etc. it can add up really really fast!

My trunk lock was stuck in the horizontal valet mode. I used to be able to set it back to the normal master mode by getting in the trunk through the back seat. But this time nothing worked.
So I went to my neighborhood locksmith. Abe’s was able to wiggle the key and reset the lock to the vertical position. He lubricated all the key holes, the trunk, the driver door and the passenger door. Now all my keys works smoothly.
The charge was $ 10 and I made a duplicate key for $ 5 extra.
Go patronize our local businesses, rather than driving a long way to Pasadena for your lock and key service.

I’ve been using Abe’s Lock & Key for almost 6 years now and they are wonderful. Due to the type of business I am in, I am constantly needing copies of keys as well as having locks re-​keyed or replaced. Vic is the person I usually deal with and he has come through every single time I have needed something. On more than 1 occasion I have called Vic and asked him if he could address an urgent issue at one of the properties that I manage and he is always right on top of it. Abe’s Lock & Key are very dependable and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone who is in need of a locksmith.

I am a returning customer and I thought it was finally time that I wrote a review for Abe’s Lock and Key. I recently went in to get a few keys re-​keyed and I can’t say how great the customer service was! Firstly, the store is located in the back around the parking lot, but I have always found parking. Secondly, they are always quick with helping me and I rarely have to wait to be helped. I am definitely a customer for life.

My door handle had come loose and was dangling about to fall off. I called Abe’s to see if the handle was salvagable or if we needed to buy a new handle and install.
The technician started to play around w/​the handle and I asked, «is it repairable?» and he kept working with it– I thought he was playing around w/​it to see if it was repairable or not. However, in 5 minutes he was done putting it all together good as new.
I asked «how much do I owe you?» and he said «$ 75». I was a bit sticker shocked by the steep charge considering it was literally a less than 5 minute job and I hadn’t even had a chance to ask for a price as I was waiting around to see if it was salvageable or not. It just naturally occurred to me to ask, «wow– it was a 5 minute job, any way you can give me a slight discount?» He was quite upset by the question and basically said, «forget it!» and decided to drive off.
I was like, «i’m sorry! I just wanted to ask! I will pay!» but he just sped off.
2 minutes later, I called him back and said, «Sir, I apologize, I didn’t mean to upset you so much but I was a bit sticker shocked by the $ 75 fee, can I just mail you a check?»
He proceeded to say in a totally different, calm and nice tone, «it’s really okay, I will consider it my good deed for the day»
I am still a bit shakey from how upset he got but he did fix the door good as new and insisted on the no pay. All in all, good results but I would recommend getting a quote for the service ahead of time. Perhaps, it was my mistake I didn’t ask for the price before he came by.

Get a price before you buy!
Brought 6 deadbolt cylinders for rekeying. I ran for a drink while they did the work. When I got back, realized I had not asked for a price. He wanted $ 18.00 a cylinder! What! A new deadbolt is $ 14 to $ 16. After the fact, called to shops in Pasadena, $ 7 to $ 10 for the same work. In the end he trimmed the price (paid for 5 of the 6), but still, felt like I was getting ripped off.
Ask for a price before you end up paying twice the going rate.

Somehow my glove box got jammed, which was a blessing in disguise since it got me out of a ticket as a result of not being able to show proof of registration, however in order to get out of the ticket fully, I have to show proof of registration by a certain date in some kind of office. I took the car to the dealership thinking they’d just be able to solve the issue real quick and low and behold, they were going to charge me an obscene amount of money because they’re a dealership, I presume, but they told me I could find a local locksmith who wouldn’t, so I decided to go that route.
Abe’s wasn’t quite ready for me the first day I dropped by without notice and when I tried to go to another place on my way home out of just wanting to remedy the issue, they told me they didn’t do any work on cars and I would be hard pressed to find a locksmith that does. So, I went back to Abe’s the next day (because they told me they could definitely help me) and in a matter of seconds my glove box was no longer jammed up AND they charged me absolutely 0 dollars for their time.
Any lock or key needs should be met by Abe’s.

This is a family run businessand it shows. The owner is very nice and knowledgeable. He will give you advice, and give you choices. The rates are very reasonable and honest. I had a Schlage key tumbler break when I rekeyed my house, I called Abes, they said come down and let’s see if we can fix it. I did and it couldn’t be fixed, but they had a replacement and rekeyed it to the new key. I paid a very reasonable price, and am very satisfied. I have hope for small business when I deal with a business like this. I will recommend them to people and I will definitely be back.

Believe EVERY bit of these reviews. I wish that there were more reviews, because I know that there are countless other folks who have been recipients of the kindness and old-​school customer service that this place is all about.
The man is the sweetest thing, and insisted that I let him do his «good deed for the day» by giving me free key copies since I only had a credit card on me (even AFTER I had run upstairs to get cash back from the post office, he insisted that I just take the keys). If I had been around here at lunch time, I would have picked up some food and forced him to have a lunch date with me outside.
Totally made my day (it’s sad, but this sort of kindness is so rare nowadays), and I’ll be sure to pay it forward the next opportunity I have.
Lots of parking upstairs (so convenient!!), and copies were made in seconds. On top of being a place run by wonderful people, it is also convenient and far more efficient than anywhere else I’ve gone.
I’ll be bringing my business back here and encouraging others to do the same. There’s no need to take your business to huge chain stores when you can support a local business that operates like this one.

I’m sure you’ve heard of that mythological business where they trust you enough to send you on your way because they only take credit cards and you didn’t have the right amount of cash? «Let me run to the atm» I said. «It’s only $ 6 for key copies» he replied, «bring it back when you have it» (he couldn’t break the $ 20 I had on me). I found enough quarters in my car but he refused to take all my meter money and gave me a significant discount.
I cannot say enough about a business like this, wow. I’ll be sure to have ANY lock change I need in the future done by this honest and wonderful local mom & pop shop.

I went in search of a key, YESTERDAY. It isn’t your everyday ordinary house key it belongs to a safe. I tried 4 places. Osh, Home Depot you name it. I even drove to Pasadena to find a locksmith to find out the business is closed. I arrived at about 10:30am today to find to very nice gentleman sitting in what looked like my grandfathers garage. TO CUTE! I walked up and said Hi, and I am looking for this key and I was told your my guys to come to. They helped me instantly!!! AND they had the KEY! MAGIC!
I cannot thank them enough for the help and customer service… I even left my change I was so thrilled. I will without a doubt be back again for ANY sort of key to ensure they stay in business since I was informed they have been in the area since the early 1900’s! AMAZING.
Great local guy and I would recommend this business to everyone!
