Dr. Yung, his associates and his team’s caring chair side manner and goal for a painless visit will put you at ease. Dr. Yung’s philosophy as «your friendly neighborhood dentist» is a proactive approach for a clean and healthy mouth for the whole family, including children starting at the age of 1.

Dr. Yung will listen to your dental concerns and work with you to brighten your smile. Using the latest in technology such as digital cameras and digital x-​rays, the patient can see what Dr. Yung is seeing. Dr. Yung educates the patient while working together to individualize a treatment plan. Our office is also open on Saturdays.

Dr. Yung’s integrity and patient care are reflected in being voted «Best Dentistry» by Pasadena Weekly readers the last five years as well as being nominated for the «Top 40 under 40», «Top Dentists» 2011 & 2012 by Pasadena Magazine. He has reached Premier Provider status for Invisalign, and is a certified Lumineers and Rockstar teeth whitening provider.

History

Established in 2004.

This is a general dentist office which was first started in the early 70’s. Continuing the legacy of the previous dentist, it has grown ten-​fold in the past 5 and a half years. The office houses two dentists, Dr. Michael S. Yung DDS who is the owner and primary dentist, and Dr. Kimberly Foon DDS, his associate. Dr. Yung graduated from Northwestern University and Dr. Foon graduated from USC. Our exceptional team will make you feel welcome both on the phone as well as when you walk in the door. Amanda is the receptionist and Whitney is the scheduling and financial coordinator. Ruby and Enrique are my dental assistants, both of whom have achieved RDA license and are excellent and personable. Daniel is our expediter and can get you anything you may need whether it be one of our magazines or validation on your parking ticket. Last but not least, our hygienists, Jason, Florilyn, and Nilo are gentle and caring.

My vision is to offer caring, comfortable, and comprehensive dental care. In addition, I also have a passion for cosmetic dentistry, where many new and exciting advances in dental materials such as composite or «white» fillings, porcelain veneers, implants, and teeth whitening are making the news today! My practice has state-​of-​the-​art equipment, including soft leather dental chairs and digital x-​rays to minimize radiation. These provide comfort and safety-​two values which are most important to me.

From the cleanings to quick fix of my chipped tooth, they are professional, timely and most importantly quick in/​out. I have never waited to be called. I would recommend this dentist office to anyone looking to get dental work done.

Been coming to Dr Yung’s office for a few years now for my dental needs and cleaning.
To date everything has been terrific due to a good rapport with Jason. (Go Jason!)
I’ve had many opportunities to find a dentist closer to where I live now on the west side, but still make the trek into Pasadena every few months. That in itself should indicate everything you need to know.

Dr. Foon is the go-​to resource at this office. She has a limited schedule, so be sure to ask for her. You can expect a practice that is not cutting corners, trying to offer the lowest cost by accepting what insurance pays in exchange for making up the difference by cutting corners and sacrificing your dental care.
A cleaning here involves a dedicated technician who handles the fully electronic x-​rays and a detailed cleaning. After the cleaning, you meet with the Dr. to review x-​rays, do an oral exam and discuss your needs. Expect a good hour or hour and a half of service for your $.
The office staff is great, from the front office, through the tech’s and Dr’s.
I highly recomend «if» you pay for service and quality and value these aspects when seeing a dentist. If you just want a cheap and quick cleaning, there are plenty of other places more fit to meet your needs.

I have had more dental work than anyone should have in 10 lifetimes. Bad genetics on both sides of the family. Have experienced dentists from just OK to over-​the-​top incredible on the east coast, where I lived all my life before moving here two years ago. My biggest concern was finding a new dentist. After much research I finally decided that dr Yung would be the first one to try.
Then before I even go to my first appointment, my DH has an urgent problem… and they took him in immediately.
I had a good amount of work done over the time we lived in Pasadena, and it has all withstood the test of time.
My DH and I were loyal customers until we had to move from Pasadena to norCal. I have never before or since seen a dentist with such a meticulous standard of care and kind staff.

Hands down one of the best dentists in Pasadena! I went to Mak & Kleiger before and didn’t feel that the dentists there were very attentive.
Michael was very attentive to my concerns and did a thorough examination along with dental photos, so that he could address any concerns that he had and so that we were both on the same page. He was able to do dental impressions and have them rushed so that they could be ready that same week because I told him that I would start nursing school soon. He was also able to fit my filling in his schedule during my following appointment for my yearly cleaning, even though he had a very tight schedule:)
The receptionists were very nice women and so were the dental assistants!
Overall, he was very nice, professional, addressed all of my questions, gave me clear answers, and seemed to genuinely have interest in me as his patient (I didn’t feel like I was being rushed in and out of the office). I would definitely recommend this dentist!

I’m so appreciative of Dr. Yung and his team. I am currently seeing Dr. Foon and I am extremely impressed! I had a great childhood dentist. I was nervous to be changing dentists as an adult — I put this decision off all through college, insisting on visiting my childhood dentist during visits home.
I made a great choice when I decided to visit Dr. Foon.
She is …
1. knowledgeable & skilled — no discomfort, but also the feeling of security that she’s on her game and keeping my dental health in top shape
2. thorough & keeps me informed of what’s going on, what her thought process is
3. kind and has a great memory
Regarding the practice …
4. The select Saturday hours are great — a busy workweek can sometimes force me to use the office’s Saturday hours, but I’d rather be a the dentist on a Saturday than unable to see a dentist. I really appreciate these hours.
5. Great professional staff — easy to book appointments. Easy billing. Beautiful office. The photos don’t do it justice. The patient rooms have beautiful windows out onto green street. It’s a wonderfully convenient location too with free parking.

Horrible dentist office with bad customer service. The office support staff have bad attitudes and do not know how to speak to clients. I called them to cancel a dental appointment due to my primary care physicians orders and they nickel and dime me because I canceled the appointment on the voicemail even though my cancellation was more than 24 hours notice which is what they require. After being charged a cancellation fee of $ 50.00 I tried to speak to the managing doctor on several different occasions and he would not return my telephone calls or even try to reach out to me. I am happily no longer a patient of this horrible doctors office and I found a much better dentist who actually cares about their patients.

Its important to consider the emotions of a patient TREMENDOUSLY when it comes to dentistry… Because that patient is looking for a dentist that they can really trust — i mean after all, these are TEETH i’m talking about!
I am very ashamed of how things worked out with my couple of visits here. The dentist, Michael seems like a pretty educated man… But the front desk staff & the hygienist are where my issues come in.
After my first consultation visit i was given numerous Xrays & the dentist also took a molding of my teeth (i was considering veneers/​cosmetic) in which they charged my insurance roughly $ 300! The molding was obviously not going to be covered, but the way i was being treated so nicely… I was under the impression that it was complimentary to the consultation. AND IT WAS NOT FREE! My insurance did cover the xrays but not the molding, and i had to call Nancy at the front desk and explain to her that i was very unhappy about this and that I never even left with a print out/​receipt for those xrays/​molding. She insisted that she gave it to me and it became a minor dispute because she did not. [otherwise i would have no reason to complain]… I also told her not to render any services until notifying me what it will cost my insurance… Thats just simple business.
Moving forward… I scheduled a cleaning with the hygienist, Jason. He was extremely nice and professional. I really hate to report this in my review because i cannot stress how much of a [great] bed-​side manner he has… But here goes nothing.
While he was preparing to start on my cleaning i made it very clear that i had a sensitive tooth that was really brittle (due to an accident) and i showed him the areas of the tooth that he should avoid because i didnt want to further damage it. Well, he was using the water pressure thing in the area of my tooth that i warned him abt and when i looked at my tooth right after there was a significant piece of my tooth that had been chipped off! :(
I immediately mentioned it to him (because like i said, THESE ARE TEETH we’re talking abt here)… And his reply was something like «well, your veneers will cover it»
(at the time i needed to undergo MANY procedures before getting veneers… So no, veneers werent going to cover it because veneers were not something i could get right away)
It was awful + i cried in my car! My confidence was hit very hard and i was crushed! I decided to go elsewhere on that.

I recently started coming to Dr. Yung after a long period of not having a regular dentist. After moving to the area from West LA, I found Dr. Yung to have some of the most favorable reviews for dentists in Pasadena. Unfortunately, his offices only take PPO insurance so I had to wait the year out and switch over to PPO at the open enrollment period. It took awhile to get started, but now I’m happy to say I’ve finally found a dentist.
Dr. Yung is very personable and called to welcome me as a new patient before I came in for my initial appointment. During the first appointment, he sits down with you and goes over the details of the x-​rays and gives your chompers a thorough initial evaluation. As a new patient, I felt he really wanted to make sure you understood and even explained some of the dental terminology in layman’s terms. I did not feel rushed or hurried like I have with other dentists.
My biggest hurray is with Mary, the hygienist. I’ll spare you the gory details but in a nutshell, it was awhile since I had a thorough cleaning and she really took the time to show me (embarrassingly) proper flossing techniques. (Gross I know, but apparently but improper flossing is something many people are guilty of)!
So far Dr. Yung’s offices have been very professional and the people here go out of their way to educate you so your future visits to the dentist can be quick and easy.

Absolutely great experience here. Going to the dentist can be an intimidating thing but everyone at this office is so friendly and welcoming that any anxiety I may have had went away almost immediately as I met all of the staff. My sessions were prompt, professional, informative and comfortable. Me and my teeth thank you, Dr. Yung and associates.

I absolutely love Dr. Yung & his team:)! As I was leaving the numbness was already just about gone. Out of all things in life I dislike is having to have my mouth numbed, it’s right at the top. Dr. Young is an expert! I didn’t feel a thing when he gave me the shot, yes that’s right not a thing. I was able to just about fall asleep while he was working on my teeth. Amazing right! I’m from a small city and I value great service. Dr. Yung called me welcoming me to his office prior to my appt and really took time to answer any questions I had. I can go on and on how much I love my new dentist office. Five stars hands down. I’m so pleased & every one who is looking for an amazing dentist will be happy with Dr. Yung and his fabulous team:)

It was first time visit for my mom. She is very afraid of dentist. I would say she has dentistphobia…^^ But Dr. Yung is so patient and kind. He answered all the ridiculous questions my mom asked. Some of them don’t even have anything to do with dental…(Typical asian mom). She is very please with his dental work and she even can’t wait to go see him again. Before that, she would had a fight with anyone who try to make her go see dentist. She really have unpleasant experience with dentists since she was childhood. But Dr. Yung is different. I think he not only cure her dental problem, he even cure her phobia… hahaa…Staff are very nice too. They are all so patient and polite. I would totally recommend him.

Today was my first visit and let me tell you that I loved it!!! Starting with the staff, Kristy was very welcoming and asked if I had any problems finding the place she gave me a validation before leaving. I was seen right away with my appointment and I was not rushed. Sherry assisted me and introduced herself and explained to me what she was going to do before beginning. Dr. Foon was very nice and gentle and explains to me what she saw and if I understood. Overall, I take my hat off to the service, staff and doctor Foon. I set up an appointment for my fiancé already! I have been going to see Dr. Yung for a few years now. I have really enjoyed the staff and Dr. Yung himself. My hygienist always apologizes for being a perfectionist and I always tell him I can’t think of a better profession for that and love that he takes the time to really clean my teeth. It never hurts.
Dr. Yung always comes in and is very friendly. He listens to any concerns I may have and I’m done.
His office has parking in the back although I always forget and park on the street out front.
I have never really dreaded the dentist and thanks to Dr. Yung and his staff, I still don’t! :)

Been going to this guy for the past 3 years or so. It took me a while to pick out a dentist because I was picky about who would be diggin’ in my teeth. He is an EXCELLENT dentist– very personable, offers good advice, and has a super friendly staff. He’s young, professional, and came from one of the top dental schools here in the US.
I’ve recommended 3 – 4 friends to him and they all love him too. If you’re looking for a good dentist in the Pasadena area– I high recommend him.
Just a quick note though– He only takes PPO insurance so HMO’ers are lucked out.
