It is difficult to be concise without gushing about all the little things I have experienced. However, those little things are what make human relationships extraordinary and leave a lasting impression. I am a car accident patient, if you are in the same situation, read on and maybe my review can help answer questions you may have.
I have been a patient of Dr. Rhee for 3 months now. After the accident I was going to sit back shying away from even thinking of filing an injury claim despite the pain in my neck & shoulders. It’s scary-​foreign territory and as long as I could walk, I figured I wouldn’t bother. Luckily, my brother encouraged me to see a chiropractor regardless. Unilocal to the rescue! Dr. Rhee personally returned my phone call, briefing me on how car accident cases are handled. She also emphasized how important it is the process begin immediately, not only for my body but also because insurance companies tend to be skeptical when you wait too long (it was a week since the accident). I appreciated how quickly I was given an appointment and felt immediate confidence in her work upon consultation. Also her passions are pediatrics and prenatal care, so I’m glad she kept an open mind to my case.
Dr. Rhee keeps it real, whether or not you want to hear the negative. It’s your health, your body and your life so it is imperative you are well-​informed. She provides knowledge, I do my homework and I am much better to my body. I used to push myself even when I was in pain (i.e. desk work); dear spine, I’m sorry. I’ve shared my experience with friends who have seen chiropractors and they’re impressed with the individual care I am receiving. Their chiropractors give the same routine treatment to everyone. Dr. Rhee adapts to how my spine changes, gives me great advice and listens to me (even non-​chiropractic topics). She updates me with the insurance process so I haven’t felt completely lost handling it on my own. Dealing with a car accident is not fun, simple fact. At least I have moral support and knowledge.
It’s the worst being in any doctor’s office who makes you aware you’re strangers — don’t touch me! I’m happy I found a medical provider who is personable and makes me feel comfortable. She reminds me «this is a place of healing», so if you need healing, go to Dr. Rhee.

Dr. Rhee’s careful chiropractic care is a big factor in my day-​to-​day physical well-​being. I didn’t have any specific injury or trauma, just a lot of stiffness and general discomfort that had accumulated.
Upon advice from respected friends, I switched from a local chiropractor to travel to her clinic. After the initial X-​rays, she focused on specific adjustments to correct my unique spinal issues, hip rotation, etc. Her hands-​on care is very personalized and never just the same routine. She did not take the insurance that I had, but the results that I experienced were dramatic enough for me to invest time and out-​of-​pocket money to remain under her care. I experienced freedom of movement and release of pain that is such a relief.

I came to see Dr. Rhee for my physical ailments associated with my pregnancy. I had extremely excruciating pain on my lower sacrum area that affected my mobility. Getting in and out of the car was nearly impossible, among other things. She took me off work for a week, and adjusted me that entire week. It was a miracle! I was able to walk comfortably again. Since then, I’ve been seeing her throughout my entire pregnancy. As my baby gets bigger, I continue to have new aches and pains as my adjustment would not hold as long. But getting adjusted from Dr. Rhee helped me reduce the discomfort, and probably enabled me to stay at work much more comfortably and longer than I would have otherwise.
Additionally, Dr. Rhee specializes in the Webster Technique. Which is a technique that helps alleviate any tension in your pelvic area my putting pressure on your ligaments. It encourages optimal fetal positions since I was concerned with having a breech baby because of my scoliosis. The Webster Technique also helps stimulate fetal movement, which was great for me, because at times I was concerned he wasn’t moving enough. She also helps to make sure that baby is where he needs to be.
I am soo grateful for having found Dr. Rhee, my pregnancy experience would have been completely miserable.
If you are pregnant, I recommend beginning your care with Dr. Rhee as early as possible. Your OBGYN will not be able to help with your pains (naturally) and that is where including a chiropractic regimen along w/​your regular prenatal visits is important. It will help you feel better tremendously!

She is the best chiropractor I have seen. I was having 2 to 3 migraines a week when I started seeing her, after seeing her for awhile I am now only getting about one a month. She has done more for my health than the last three doctors I have seen.

I have been with Dr Rhee since my spinal injury from a snowboarding trip. Also, I am a dedicated beginner golf, that means a lot of funny things are happening to my spine from all the swings! I’ve been a patient of Dr. Rhee for over a year and am very satisfied with the care that I receive. When I initially started seeing her, she suggested certain supplements and even doing a cleanse in addition to adjustments. I tried them because I was interested in making changes to my diet. After making major changes to my diet, I discontinued the supplements — without any pressure from Dr. Rhee to continue them. I am able to discuss with her what works for me and what doesn’t without worrying about a sales pitch.
I used to see her a couple of times a week when if I first started but after treatment and engaging in physical exercise that didn’t exacerbate my back issues, I currently see her about once every 3 weeks.

I had gone to see Justine Rhee based on all the positive reviews here on Unilocal.Well, that was several months ago, and I am still suffering from her «treatments» which only exacerbated my original pain and suffering. The hindsight being 20/​20, there were many signs that should have prompted me simply get up and leave. But, I foolishly entrusted my well-​being to her, and I regret my mistake till this day.
Lesson learned: In the future, if a doctor is more focused on how much he/​she can get out of my insurance plan AND selling me some line of «all natural» supplements than he/​she is on treating my pain, it would be wise to simply get up and walk out.

You will not find a more compassionate or more thorough chiropracter in the region. I’ve been seeing Dr. Rhee for a number of issues with my back and my health. She is a trusted health advisor and has done wonders for my back and health. I was injured in a car accident with a stress fracture in my T-​4 and also was experiencing significant lower back pain. After treatment with Dr. Rhee I’ve got my life back.
I know there are many people who are skeptical of chiropractics and I for one was ready to give up on the industry, however with her careful explanation and execution of therapy I’m a believer. Dr. Rhee always does an assessment of your full spine, then makes her adjustment and then follow up with a full assessment of the adjustment.

Okay. .. Honestly I don’t know where to start. .. but here it goes…
I wake up in the morning feeling like P.Diddy. .. NOT! I woke up with a stiff neck! I thought it was caused by my ugly pillow or awkward sleeping positions, but it didn’t go away like it normally does. I thought it would get better so I sucked it up and went on my day for a month. I brought all the over-​the-​counter ointment and heat patches that CVS carries. For a good couple of months my best friend was Mr. Bengay. He was good friend temporarily, but the pain stills comes back.
Finally I had enough, so I went to my health plan and looked up for a local chiropractor. Since I don’t know how to crack my neck like the lady in Exorcist, I might as well have a professional doctor to crack it for me.
Anyways, based on Unilocal and location, I went ahead and made an appointment with Dr. Gustavo. He was okay, nothing super. He was just like Mr. Bengay, a temporary fix. Did the normal pretzel cracking or what they call an adjustment and I’m off my way out of his office.
I continued visiting him for a little over a month, but there wasn’t any improvement. Although the chiropractor was under my PPO insurance, I still had to pay for his service out of my pocket. With no improvement, I leaned over to Mr. Bengay again.
As time progress, my neck started to get worse, so I called up my family doctor and paid him a visit. He did a thorough x-​ray and did not find any issue based on my x-​rays, so he referred me to a physical therapist. So onto my third doctor/​specialist…
The physical therapist, didn’t do much. Show me a couple of exercises, that I can do on my own, electro-​therapy, and a session of massages that I don’t remember that took about an 1.5 hours of my time twice a week. I tried that for a month with no improvement…
Finally I had dinner with my friend Thomas (my non-​licensed psychologist) and complained over and over again how I hate my neck! He finally told me that he was going to a chiropractor for his knee and so far he is seeing an improvement. In addition, he was starting a 21-​days detox to get healthy and lose weight, since he was limited to strenuous exercise. He even told me that his wife tried the detox with success and loved the result. Mind you, his wife is petite, so her intention was not to lose weight, but to become healthy.
Time past by. .. I started to gain weight, since I didn’t want to exercise and cause more issue to my neck (I was still seeing my physical therapist at the time). I finally hit rock bottom. I called up Thomas and asked him who his nutritionist was and he referred me to Dr. Rhee’s detox seminar.
A couple of days past by and I attended the seminar. I was very excited to jump on-​board! Dr. Rhee’s admin called me to schedule a one-​time consultation. I finally met Dr. Rhee in person, told her my laundry list of problems. She’s definitely a good listener and listened to all my problem and finally told me that I should start with chiropractic first and then the detox. So once again, I had a divorce with my physical therapist and committed myself to Dr. Rhee.

Dr. Rhee, she’s a caring chiropractor. She will personally call you during the day to follow-​up on you. She makes herself available and respond promptly on e-​mail. I don’t know if I’m special, but she also gave me her cell number in case there is any emergency or questions I have for her.
Honestly, I’ve spend lots of money on medical payments this year. Dr. Rhee isn’t cheap, but affordable, best of all, I’m on the road of recovery. That makes my money well spent.
Aside from my chiropractic care, I’m also on a 21 days detox plan with her. She a great nutritionist counselor. I’m starting to learn and change my way of eating. I’m feeling more energetic and sleeping well now. Although the goal of the detox is to eliminate toxic out of my body that I have accumulate over a long period of time, I also lost about 7 lbs. from my detox and continuing on losing it by having a new perspective on food and exercising.
Appointments only: On-​time, the wait time was always less than 5 minutes, 10 minutes at most.

I’ve been under Dr. Rhee’s care for just over 2 months, and I am a firm believer of her chiropractic specialty — the Gonstead method. NO neck, shoulder or back pain/​stiffness within 2 weeks and NO headaches/​migraines within 4 weeks of seeing Dr. Rhee. Woohoo!
I was skeptical at first. Only 2, maybe adjustments in a visit, sometimes just 1! But I stuck with it even though I was used to upwards of 5 adjustments and a lot of cracking. Was under the care of 2 other chiropractors over the last 2 years — changing due to moves — and I really liked them; they gave me relief, practiced various chiropractic methods, lovely people… but my ailments always came back.
Dr. Rhee palpates along the spine before and after adjustments (which, BTW, are not huge cracking noises for those that understandably averse to that). So you can tell which specific disc she is adjusting and how that spot feels afterward. She’s also always referring to the Xrays and taking notes. Seems extremely detailed and is great at telling me what is going on; for example, my scoliosis improved significantly in 6 weeks! (Xrays done at first visit and about a month later, then another year after that)
Started out 3x a week, then went to 2x a week, and now have graduated to 1x a week! Sure, it’s different for everyone, but from personal experience, the plan Dr. Rhee set out at the beginning worked out for me.
I also opted to do a purification program with Dr Rhee. I’m a little weary of including this here (she didn’t pressure at all), ‘cos I’d feel woohoo about the care I’ve received with or without having done this program, but I had to mention it ‘cos I’m reaping such rewards from it. I can go on and on (as you can tell), so I will just say that the purification is curing my psoraisis and eczema.
Also woohoo worthy: staff is great (helpful with insurance); parking is easy (lot); near the Gold line.

I have scoliosis from a car accident years ago, and I’d just given birth. In pain, needing relief.
Rhee took x-​rays of my back with a broken machine. Rhee asked me questions about my previous care, prescribed an expensive supplement, told me I might be a great candidate for her detox diet plan.
When I came back a few days later, she pointed out that I had severe depletion of bone density and that I was headed for Osteoporosis fast. She also said I’d need hip replacement in 10 years. Then she told me she researched my former doctor (who I told her I adored), and that he was not a professional and the care he had given me was not on the level of her practice.
Then she told me to come back three times a week for 4 weeks, then twice a week after that. Forever. And I’d probably need more supplements, and that detox diet was practically a necessity.
This was prior to an adjustment.
As I tallied the cost of the treatment she was going to give me to prevent me from collapsing and turning into a spindly old lady at any second, I asked her if I wouldn’t receive any benefit just by coming in once a week.
NO, she said.
Hormonal and scared shitless, I returned a few times to Dr. Rhee. It began to occur to me that she had never outlined a treatment plan, only told me of the consequences of how much closer to death I would be if I did not buy every single one of her suggestions.
So I asked her what she was going to do for me. «Ask me anything,» she said. I just did, didn’t I? So I rephrased, «I really don’t feel like you told me what the plan was, you just scared me shitless.» «Ask me anything!» she said again. ‘I really don’t understand what you are going to do for me,” I said again. «I’d be happy to answer any concerns you have,» she replied.
She called me at home to ask me if I had any more questions. «Yes, could you leave my x-​rays at the front desk so I can pick them up? I won’t be returning.» She understood my question that time. Crazy, huh?

The phrase «it changed my life» is misused many times in the media and most often that stuff truly has little effect on your health. Yet, in the case of Dr. Rhee I can truthfully say she has achieved this and more –simply put Dr. Rhee has given me my life back.
For decades I hunted out other health providers to get rid of my many illnesses. I jumped from one health provider to another usually leaving with new medications in hand. Then I met Dr. Rhee and she introduced me to her Gonstead Chiropractic and Holistic Nutritional program, which is a healthy, safe, and medicine free program.
After three months of Dr. Rhee’s care I stopped taking two daily medications and I am on track to taking the last one. After coming in with a much misaligned neck, and back… and everything. Dr. Rhee systematically brought my neck and body back to working condition.
This is a doctor that doesn’t punch out when the patient walks out the door. She is tirelessly looking over x-​rays, and files, determining the most effective way to help her patient. Dr Rhee is amazing!!!
I am a chiropractic student, so I have seen them all. And just like any other field of doctors (dentists, surgeons, general practitioners, etc) there are good chiropractors, and there are bad chiropractors. Let me assure you from personal experience, she is far superior to most of the doctors in this profession.
The Gonstead technique that she practices is HIGHLY specific! You will not get aimlessly whacked and cracked here. Dr. Rhee will examine your spine every single time you come in. She will identify the specific segments that are imposing a problem and adjust only those. After about 16 visits she will take another x-​ray and compare it to your original x-​ray – then you can actually see how her adjustments have realigned your spine and how that correlates to better health.
Dr. Rhee does not adjust for the sole reason of alleviating low back pain, but she delivers each dynamic adjustment with the purpose of bettering each individuals health (as you can read in the reviews below).
I can say without a doubt that my time with Dr. Rhee has completely changed my view of health and wellness, and I will model my future practice after everything I am learning from her.

I met Dr. Rhee at one of her health talks. During that time, I had some major headaches, to the point where I can’t function at work. I never would have thought to see a chiropractor for headaches, but I was open to new alternatives. I was tired of popping pills to alleviate my pain.
The front desk staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I felt at ease when I walked into the office. After some standard paper work, Dr. Rhee performed a very thorough examination, a lot more than those medical doctors I’ve been to in the past.
After the exam, she decided that she will give me my first adjustment. I was a little nervous since I’ve never been adjusted before, especially since it was my neck. But before you know it, I heard a small pop and that was it, no pain or discomfort whatsoever. I came back for subsequent visits and after the second time, I noticed an immediate decrease in severity of pain. I was truly amazed! I hardly get any headaches now and I’ve stopped taking pain pills. I come back on a regular basis for health maintenance and prevention.

I’ll admit, I don’t have the perfect spine. Nor a perfect skeleton or body. I’ve sprained both ankles at some point in my life, especially during my years playing volleyball in high school. I fractured my right arm when I was in 3^rd grade. I fell off a 6′ wall flat onto my back (onto dirt thankfully) and fractured one of my vertebra in 4^th grade. I fractured a rib in college playing intramural basketball. That was probably the most painful 3 – 4 weeks of my life because it hurt to do EVERYTHING. Get in/​out of bed, get in/​out of my car, walk, laugh, sit down, get up, bending down. When getting out of bed, I literally had to roll out of my bed onto the floor face down, and push my self up that way. That minimized the contortional stress on my abdomen. But I digress.
Most recent trauma I experienced was getting rear-​ended in the beginning of 2008. I was attempting to proceed through an intersection when I suddenly stopped to yield to an emergency vehicle coming from my right. That is when some guy who had changed lanes, assuming I was going to continue on and slammed right into me. As far as I know, I did not receive any direct trauma or bodily injury because of that accident, thankfully.
I have been to chiropractors before over the years. But I have not been to one in several years. I actually met Dr. Justine Rhee several years ago when she was still in school and maintained a friendship with her throughout that time. I just recently found out she started practicing locally here in Pasadena, so I asked her if I could come in for a consultation and check up.
The small business park where her office is located is quite befitting to her holistic approach to her practice. The walkways are lined with beautiful vegetation and plants, and in the center, a koi pond and little handmade rock formation waterfall. The bridges and hand railings could definitely use some touching up, but overall it’s a very beautiful and serene environment. The inside looks just like a normal doctors office.
The staff is very nice and helpful. They even called me an hour before my follow up appointment to remind me. I’ve also met the doctor who owns the practice and that Justine is renting her consultation room from and he is really nice as well. I could tell he is happy to have Justine in his office. As for her room itself, she had the cabinets and walls repainted and had a new curtain put up to make it her own. Very nice.
So as I said, Dr. Rhee has a holistic approach to her practice. Having spoken with her on several occasions, I could just hear the passion in her voice she has for chiropractics and the wellness of her patients. Her hope is to not only correct and heal her patients physically, but to also correct and heal them emotionally and mentally, hoping to also teach them more awareness about things such as their diet and lifestyle, which can greatly affect someone’s body and spine as much as physical trauma.
She really takes her time with you and does not make you feel rushed (though she’s admitted to me her boss has said she needs to learn to turnover patients more quickly). She’s quite thorough in her explanations and showed and explained to me in detail what and why my spine is the way it is with the x-​rays. She also sees children and while right now she will see anybody of any age, hopes to be able to focus on child chiropractics later on in her career.
I’m totally glad I decided to go in.
