I specialize in couples therapy. In couples therapy, I will help you and your partner identify the conflict issues within your relationship. I will help you gain insight with what changes are needed in the relationship and in the behavior of each partner, for both of you to feel satisfied with the relationship. Couples therapy involves learning how to communicate more effectively, and how to listen more closely. In couples therapy I am often more proactive and direct helping the couple gain awareness of their «disconnect» by pointing out observed behaviors and putting words to body language, eye rolling, etc. The process is sometimes more like coaching and it is educational. The goal is to initially gather each individuals feelings, thoughts, and conflicts in front of each other and respectfully discuss the problem/​s and find solutions. I also always take into account the couples culture, and see through their values, beliefs and traditions.

Read the outstanding reviews about this counselor on Unilocal.For this, scheduled a couples appointment for March 2, and traveler great distance to see the counselor. We arrived at our appointment, and Joanne was a no show. I emailed and phoned her, and she never responded.
Maybe a blessing in disguise, if this is how she runs her business than maybe reflective of her professionalism.
To this day, still have heard nothing from Joanne. Hopefully, she is still alive and nothing catastrophic occurred. If something bar happened to her, please reply and I will delete this review.

My girlfriend and I recently had a child and moved in together. We went from being VERY independent to being together all the time and needing to depend on each other to raise a child.
Needless to say it was a challenge, and a challenge that we were close to failing. It was at that point that we contacted Joanne to give it our best try at making it work. What happened after that is truly a blessing. Joanne helped us communicate better, reminded us why we love each other, and helped us realize that we both want the same things. With her help, we now feel like we’re on the same page and building a great life together.
I really believe that 10, 20, or 30 years from now, we’ll both look back and say that going to couples counseling with Joanne was the best investment we ever made.
Seriously, if you’re even thinking about it, GO SEE HER!

I want to start out by saying I can’t thank Joanne enough for all of the guidance she has and continues to give me. I have never been to a psychotherapist before, so after doing a lot of research online, I decided I would give her office a call. Wow… I am so grateful that I did. All I can say is that she an innate ability to connect with her clients. She delivers an unbiased, caring, intellectual, and most importantly HONEST point of view. I wish I could give more thank 5 stars, because she deserves about a hundred of them.
I’ve seen other therapists before. I always felt like I was doing all the talking and they were just sitting there listening and ultimately felt like I was going nowhere. I’ve had some significant things happen to me (early childhood and beyond) and never really knew how to sort through some of those feelings. Those feelings that I was masking started reflecting themselves onto my marriage, and my husband and I needed a way of talking through some of my issues, along with some of his issues. Sometimes therapy has a funny way of bringing up issues that you never really knew existed, until you open that door. Joanne has a way of opening up those doors.
My husband found Joanne on Unilocal.Our first session was together and then I went to see her individually, and my husband did as well. Our first session was together as a couple. Previously the last couple weeks in our marriage had been a little rough, and she had a way about her that allowed my husband and myself to open up and communicate. I think my husband was skeptical. He had seen therapists before, but (again) wasn’t able to bond with them the way we bonded with Joanne. We left her office with a big sigh of relief. Not a sigh that everything had been fixed that day, but a sigh knowing that we had found someone who could help us through challenging times, and that we were ultimately going to be okay.
The thing with therapy is this: things aren’t going to get fixed that day. It takes time, patience and consistency. We’ve been seeing Joanne for about 5 months now, and I can see a huge difference in the way my husband and I communicate with each other, and how we treat each other. I think it’s made us both more aware.
Joanne is amazing. She’s someone you want not only as your therapist, but as your friend. Love her!

Joanne helped my partner and I of 10 years deal with some underlying issues in our communication with each other. I love how she is straight forward and pragmatic in her approach and gave us sound, reasonable tips to overcome our fear and transform all the «stuff» that kept us from communicating with each other in an honest fashion. I would recommend her 1,000 times over to anyone. My partner and I feel so refreshed in our relationship, it feels like we are experiencing that fun excitement that comes with a new relationship all over again. Its been so helpful, I realize that going to couples counseling is not because you relationship is bad, but rather by going you are making your relationship the best it can be. What could be healthier!

Joanne is highly recommended, she has helped me through many challenges throughout my life that I had coming into therapy and that were brought up while going. She is not one to hold back and u r able to understand and come to peace with issue that have never been able to be resolved. Joanne is a very understanding and genuine person inside and out. She is my first therapist (I am 18 years old) and has been helping me with some of the most trying times in my life.
