I love going to see R. Matsuzaki!

Love Dr. Matsuzaki. I have done two annual checkups now, he goes alot deeper then just my eyes. We chat about exercise, we chat about supplements and what I am taking and what can help to prolong my eye health. The office uses cutting edge technology and get you in and out fairly quick. I highly recommend Dr. Matsuzaki!

I’ve been going to Dr Matsuzaki for quit some time and I feel he is excellent Optometrist. My only issue that I feel that he nickels and dimes you for the services that other optical services provide for free. For example I had my own frames and just wanted updated lenses. He charged me $ 15 for len measurements that only took 15 seconds. And once the lens are done he wants $ 30 for fitting the glasses since I didn’t purchase them from him. The frames are brand new… Really Doc

Love Dr. Matsuzaki! My daughter and I have been patients for 15 years. He is great in emergency situations and equally thorough as a preventive eye care professional. Provides warranties on eyeglasses, too! Fantastic staff, well-​run office. Highly recommended!

I have been going to Dr. Matsuzaki for a long time. The staff is always extremely courteous and efficient. The Doctor is very knowledgeable and always takes the time to answer all your questions. I recommend him to all my friends and family knowing they will be extremely pleased with the quality of service they will receive.

The office of Dr. Matsuzaki is very deserving of all the 5 star reviews here. The doctor and staff were professional, attentive, and efficient in every way.
Before my appointment, I received a detailed email about location/​parking, and was provided new patient forms, which I filled out beforehand. When I came in, I got a friendly greeting from the staff, turned in my paperwork, and my exam was started in under 5 minutes. Dr. Matsuzaki was extremely knowledgable and was very thorough in his questions and exam. He helped diagnose the causes of my contact lens discomfort and scheduled a free follow up later in the week to ensure that my lenses were working out. They carry several brands/​types and will make sure you find what is best for you. It’s very comforting to have such an experienced and caring eye doctor!

They’re so amazing. The doctor, the staff,… and the parking!
Dr. Matsuzaki’s office is located in a small plaza with light traffic, and therefore there’s always plenty of ample parking. Well… I go only a couple times a year, but every time, there is no hassle! The sign from the street says that it’s $ 3 for parking, but I’ve never had an issue with not paying.
First off, Dr. Matsuzaki is gentle, kind, and highly knowledgeable about optometry. I had several questions about marketed eye-​vitamins (Ocuvite), and he gave me his 2 cents of the matter and different options as well.
Also, they have a different type of machine to do eye dilation tests. I’m not sure if this is widely used everywhere, since I only go to this office, but it’s quick and doesn’t require those strange drops that dilate your eyes and leave you looking freaky all day. Also, it’s quick! I believe it’s an extra charge for this dilation that wasn’t covered by my particular insurance.
I’ve only gotten contacts with Dr. Matsuzaki’s office, so I’m not sure how much you’d be paying out of pocket for frames.
Paige and Tori (Tory? Torri?) were very kind and went out of their way to help me with my particular situation, without being overly and fakely nice, like how some people could be. They’re genuine without being over the top.
Definitely recommend Dr. Matsuzaki to everyone! FYI-​I have VSP insurance, and they take that at this office. They take other insurance too, but I can’t attest to which ones.

I suffer from a hereditary eye disease that has no known cure, so having an informed and caring Optometrist to complement my Ophthalmologist at UCLA is critical for me. After researching and interviewing many Optometrist, I came across Dr. Matsuzaki and I am so glad I did. He and his staff are extremely informed and caring and like me they are perfectionists. I highly recommend you interview and become a patient of Dr. Matsuzaki. You will thank yourself for doing it.

Dr. Matsuzaki was just wonderful. When my uncle was in the hospital and they lost his glasses, Dr Matsuzaki’s very friendly staff helped me order a replacement pair and Dr Matsuzaki went to the rehab facility where he was discharged to, to fit my uncle for the glasses. It improved his quality of life being able to see and read. My uncle and I appreciate your going above and beyond. Really great service! Thank you!

Simply the best there is. Up to the minute technology, very caring service. He takes his time with you. His staff is also the best there is. After twenty-​some years, NO complaints.

my husband and I have been going to Dr. Matsuzaki for years now and we are very happy with the service.
the only reason I gave him a 4 star rate is because his service is very pricey. Mainly carries only high end frame and a very few cheaper frames. We ended up sending hundreds of dollars for the frames, even with a decent eye insurance coverage. I usually take my prescription and get cheaper frames elsewhere.

Very friendly staff and very helpful with any questions! I had to come into the office 4 times before I found the right pair of contact lenses, and Dr. Matsuzaki was helpful and patient the entire time. Would recommend him to anyone!

I have been coming to Dr. Matsuzaki’s office for a number of years now and I must say my experience there has always been great. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always helpful. Dr. Matsuzaki is always thorough with his explanations during the exams and is always willing to answer any questions I may have. I have had glasses made here a couple of time and had never had any issues with them what so ever. I highly recommend Dr Matsuzaki to anyone looking for an optometrist.

Contact lenses and I used to be friends, but we’ve been on the outs lately. Dr. Matsuzaki figured out the problem with my eyes and prescribed a simple, inexpensive course of treatment that has made it possible for me to wear contacts again. He’s an excellent diagnostician with genuine concern for his patients. His staff is also incredibly nice, and I’m never left waiting for more than a few minutes.

I was referred to Dr. Matsuzaki by a friend. I have never had such a thorough eye exam. There were many tests that were done that I have never received by other optometrists. Makes you feel as if you are in good hands. He is also very knowledgeable and takes him time explaining the tests he is running, what he is checking for, and the results of the tests. I was also given a print out sheet of my results so that I could take it home.
The staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. Very welcoming environment with wide selection of eye glasses frames. Overall, best optometrist I have been too and very professional staff.

We were referred to him by our doctor, who uses him as her optometrist. Dr. Matsuzaki is knowledgeable, friendly and low-​key.
He explained my contacts allow more oxygen to get to my eyes, compared to other contacts, which is healthier for them. He also fit me with contacts where I do not need my reading glasses as much as before. He also recommends supplements to help protect your eyes, such as high quality fish oils and fermented soybeans. His staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about their products and insurance billing.
He does a very thorough examination. There is a one week follow-​up to ensure the contacts fit well. He has numerous eye examination machines to ensure all areas are covered. I have never had a more thorough eye exam. He can take digital pictures of your eyes and compare examination results from the prior years to help identity unfavorable trends.
I have great confidence in Dr. Matsuzaki taking care of the health of my eyes.

I came to Dr. Matsuzaki at the recommendation of a friend and I was not disappoint. I was really impressed by his high tech machines and equipment. He is really knowledgeable but not the intimidating type, like a lot of doctors I’ve encountered. His staff is really friendly, one of the guys even offered to fix my glasses at not extra cost. Dr. Matsuzaki is one of my favorite optometrist and I will definitely come back!

Yay! I found my optometrist!!! I’m going into a career that my eyes need to be in optimal condition and I thought I deserve the best!
I’ve been going to Costco, Lenscrafters all the years of my eye health… and those are ok (just because I’ve never experienced a private practice optometrist) But this time my friend referred me to Dr. Matsuzaki and I had a great experience! I needed a contact prescription ASAP. They were booked for like two weeks but then they were able to squeeze me in that same week I called. =)
What I think I enjoyed the most was how thorough they are! So many machines/​tests were used to ensure the diagnosis of my eye health. I got my retina scanned and found that I am at risk for Glaucoma *YIKES* =(but Dr. Matsuzaki told me ways to avoid/​prevent it.
He recommended several different products for me to start using… for example I need to STOP buying Target brand contact solution and use the real stuff. (I thought there wasn’t that big of a difference between target brand vs. optifree but I guess there is!)
He even told me to eat more Natto! So Japanese! (I don’t even like Natto but he said that I can also buy NattoKinase which are the pills)
Anyways, here are a bunch of other pluses:

Dr. Matsuzaki isn’t the type of doctor that wants you in and out… he really does take the time to get to know his patients. I had LOTS of questions (and probably stupid ones at that) and he took the time to answer them. He’s pretty funny too!
I actually don’t even live close to pasadena but I’m now willing to drive to get my eyes checked here!

You have only two eyes… don’t they deserve the best? Dr. Matsuzaki has made several pairs of glasses for me. I use to be pretty hard on my glasses (accidentally bending the frame every now and then) but Dr. M or one of his employees has happily reshaped them.
I now have these flexi incredibly light glasses and the do not bend out of shape. I have not scratched them either. Of course when you spend a heap of money on a pair of glasses you don’t stick them with no case in your pocket or your purse.
I have sent many people here. I’m a fan.
