The Inn At Deep Canyon

This place is a public nuisance. It is poorly maintained, bad service and even with the new remodel its shabby and cheap. Do yourself a favor and stay accross the street at holiday inn or best western it’s the same price for a better experience.

Great inexpensive place in amazing location. It’s not fancy, but it’s clean and friendly. I’m a business traveler and it suits my needs. It’s always been quiet when I am there and I think the staff takes pride in the place. There is an emergency number so I don’t really understand the negative comments. I’m going back!

I stayed here over NYE. I found it to be very relaxing and enjoyable. The rooms are kind of outdated, but that added to the charm for me. The room rates and quality were very reasonable for the Palm Springs/​Palm Desert area. The clerk that checked me in was warm and welcoming. I would totally stay here again. I would ask for one of the poolside rooms just for the relaxation factor.

I never write a review but this time I need to, it was clean I agree with everyone .But the windows were open that we Didnt realize from checking in to late and then found the windows don’t lock and had a hard time getting in the door with our key. The door facing the street didn’t lock all the way. I was so scared my husband put a chair again the door and put the hangers in the windows to keep anyone trying to get in. I’m not staying here again. I want to fill safe when I sleep

I booked this hotel based on the lack of bad reviews for a respite trip to the desert. I take care of my father who is on hospice. Thanks to hospice, I get five nights relief from my caregiving duties out of 60 if there is room in the hospice house for my father. Hospice approved my respite, but on the day I expected to leave they said they were full and unable to take him. This has never happened before. I tried to contact the hotel to plead my case but their phones were out. Their cancellation penalty is one night’s rate, and they were not willing to waive it. Probably like Donald Trump says it’s not personal it’s business. Now I haven’t had a break and I’m out $ 104 which in my position hurts. There was another hotel I planned to stay at for one night, and they waived the cancellation fee. I would consider that hotel in future but certainly not this one.

But what to do when visitors are not following this rules.??
The office is closed after 18.00, and no staff member gives a F… what happens until opening hours !
There was a trailer park weekend out in The Inn at Deep Canyon’s pool last weekend, they could do anything they wanted because hotelmanagement did’nt bother

We arrived and checked in around 8:30 pm on my birthday! The keys were not where indicated (In a safe accessible by a code emailed to me by the host). The email specifically stated the keys would be left with instructions in the safe. This delayed access to our accommodation by another half hour. The purpose of the trip was to celebrate my birthday. Upon arrival, we had to wash dishes, as the dishes taken from the cabinets were dirty. We then settled in and began to put our personal things away. In the master closet, there were a number of items that seem to either be garbage or surplus piled into the closet. Honestly it looked like cleaning the place was an afterthought so they hid the mess rather than cleaned it.
We also were unable to use the sliding door from the master bedroom to the patio. However, one of the guests on the trip later went and spent about 45 minutes resetting the door on the track so it was usable. By the time all was said and done, it was 11:15 pm, the food we brought to grill and celebrate went to waste, and my birthday was not actually celebrated.
At this point we decided to go to the back patio to use the patio, barbecue, and pool. The patio was disgusting. There were dirty towels and rags on the tables, the barbecue looked as if it had not been cleaned in several months and there was garbage strewn about the patio deck and piled around the fence area. There was also a lovely cup of dirty cigarette butts on the patio table.
Then there was the pool. The pool has trash in the bottom of it and there were cigarette butts floating in the water. Again happy birthday to me.
All in all this vacation is ruined. We were confined to the living room and bedrooms of the duplex when the whole purpose of this trip was to celebrate my birthday barbecuing by the pool and relaxing in the water.
First thing in the morning (after night one), we brought these issues to the attention of the office and they said they would have someone come to clean the patio and pool so we could enjoy part of the vacation. Five and a half hours later, no cleaning crew had arrived. Rather than spend the entire day stuck in the house we decided to go to a resort that offers day passes for use of the facilities at $ 23 per person and an additional $ 7 for towel rental and $ 7 for locker rental per person. The grand total equaling $ 111.
Finally the original listing specified that we’d have Internet access. When we checked in we were told that Internet access is not strong in our unit but if we needed a computer we could access one during office hours. So for the entire duration of our first night, and the second night, we didn’t have internet which prevented us from using our computers to watch movies or just relax, forcing us to go out and spend more money.
I demanded a refund, since we did not have use of the property as advertised. The owner had the audacity to offer me $ 100. In the end, I settled on a refund of all but one night at a reduced rate. He then said he had to wait to get the payment from the booking service to issue my refund. So I am out the money because he is a cheap and dirty man with cheap and dirty accommodations. I will never stay here again!
So here we are, nine days later, and the owner still has not followed through on the agreement we had to refund the money. Beware of this place folks! It’s a scam!!!

Some of the rooms are outdated but it’s quiet the pools are open 24 hours and the staff is amazing this is a good place to just come and relax.

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at this little oasis in Palm Desert. Quiet and cozy enclosed courtyard wrapped around a nice sized pool and lounging area. Our room with a king bed was spacious and comfortable, and the price was very reasonable at $ 109. The continental breakfast was very adequate and well attended to. Location is convenient to the upscale shopping and restaurants on El Paseo. A breath of fresh air from some of the chain motels we’ve stayed at.

Nice local hotel. I stayed here for Thanksgiving weekend.
I would definitely stay here again!
Pros: Clean and comfortable room, large bathroom, plenty of closet space, microwave, small fridge, and coffee maker. Adjoining rooms available. Nice pool and spa area. Very friendly owners/​staff. Breakfast bar every morning in lobby.
Free wireless internet.
Cons: Hot water works infrequently, TV didn’t work well, poor internet reception, ice machine outside very loud.

I really had a relaxing time here for a quick getaway. The Inn is in a great location with restaurants and shopping just around the corner. I especially liked the 24 hr pool access. The room was clean and so was the pool. The continental breakfast was really good .
I would visit again. I did not like that the outside smelled like cigarette smoke and there were cigarette butts outside our door .It would have been better if NO smoking inside the hotel area was allowed.

I’ve given this place a few chances because my friends like going here. My first ever visit my room had 5 baby roaches which you know means there in the walls. Dirty carpet and genuinely was a run down room. I did immediately notify the front desk and they seemed to care less. Getting housekeeping is a joke as well. When checking out again reminded them of no housekeeping and bugs like they even care.
Second stay I shared with a friend and this room was a lot better. Totally redone and nice tile floors that become slippery as all hell if you have to get out of the pool to pee. Yikes I almost cracked my head open. Then rounding the corner wrong there was a pointy nail/​pin. sharp staple something in the wall that scratched me to the point it took a while to get the bleeding to stop. Again I notify the front office and they do absolutely nothing. I put a sticker over it to remind me. But a friend knocked into it and got scratched as well. I said be careful the walls bite. Again no housekeeping. I see her but she just likes skipping my rooms I guess. When checking out I mention the nail, show my injury and the lack of housekeeping once again. Oh totally forgot there back gate wasn’t locking and ya had a homeless drunk guy on my door who then fell to the wall and slept outside my room the entire night. Talk about scary shit at 2am and not very comforting. They said they would check the gate and make a note of it when checking out.
Third times a charm right? Nice room, slippery tile floors, no housekeeping once again big shocker right? I called and even asked the maid to be told yes it will be done. LIARS! Then my friend was charged $ 75 for 2 sheets they said they were unable to wash because I squirted on them. SERIOUSLY! Did they send the sheets they charged her for… NO. Did they even notify her within a day to a week​.NO. I’m not sure of there policy but I’m pretty sure if there was a problem with our room they should have notified us and not someone who didn’t stay in our room. Invasion of privacy… YES. When checking out I mentioned the lack of housekeeping again and how I was ignored and like always they say next time they will. Yeah whatever!
The office staff could care less about your needs. I think they had one housekeeper for the entire place and she must pick and choose where she wants to clean.
I wish I could have had the 4 and 5 star experience many others have had here but not the case.

This place is a gem! I had not seen it before I arrived and was skeptical of the low priced being a reflection of the quality. I was ecstatic to see it surpassed all of my expectations. The staff is friendly/​hospitable, the pool is gorgeous (my room had a pool view), my room was beautiful, the bed was comfy, and the A/​C combated the sweltering heat (104 degrees) of the summer. This place is a must see/​stay! I come to Palm Desert every three weeks and I will def be a repeat customer. Well done, The Inn at Deep Canyon!!!

Very rude staff. I walked in the office. The front desk young girl was giving me dirty looks and being very rude. room is dirty stain on carpert. will not come back ever agian …

Stayed here last year-​it was a great deal on Living Social. Found a deal on Groupon this year so stayed again. My daughter was working at a tradeshow in Palm Springs and this was a great place to stay. I went shopping and to the Living Desert. The location is great and no resort fees added on. The room we had was clean and nice. Great TV-​big rooms-​fridge-​microwave-​coffee maker-​toiletries-​shower & tub-​free wifi-​desk-​table & chairs-​loveseat. Owner and the people that work there are super friendly. The free continental breakfast was pretty good too-​oatmeal-​boiled eggs-​coffee-​tea-​bagels-​cream cheese-​pastries-​orange & apple juice-​fruit-​etc. Would definately stay there again!

This little inn was located just a 5 minute walk away from the house where our friends’ wedding ceremony was taking place. It was Thanksgiving weekend and a very last-​minute booking, so the rate was was hiked up to $ 149 + tax per night, which is just WAY too much otherwise. In an older review I saw somebody pay $ 59 a night which is just about right. We simply just needed a place for all our shit and a bed to sleep in. Renee checked us in and she was very nice. We stayed in Room 12 (I think?) it’s the one directly next to the office and the first one you see when you enter through the gate. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom and inside the closet was a microwave and mini fridge, which I used to heat up some leftovers from lunch one day and kept water bottles and soft drinks in. The A/​C unit worked EXTREMELY well, we loved that the room got so cold. It’s a bit on the loud side, but we’re heavy sleepers and it didn’t bother us at all. Speaking of sleep, the bed was pretty damn comfortable and the sheets were puffy and soft. Cleanliness? A few stains here and there on the carpet but everything appeared to be in good shape and there were definitely no offensive odors.
In the morning there is free continental breakfast from 8−10am in the room connected to the main office. I admit I set my expectations too high; you get what you pay for! There was a bakery case of muffins, coffee cake, and a variety of bagels (and two toasters should you want to heat them up), a three-​compartment crockpot/​warmer thing with soggy Eggo waffles/​pancakes/​French toast, a bowl of cold hardboiled eggs, individual packets of cereal and oatmeal, with orange juice, apple juice, and coffee to drink. In this room you will also find tons and tons of pamphlets with coupons and the like for nearby activities as well as information on shopping and dining in the area.
We didn’t go in the pool but it appeared pretty clean. Would I stay here again? Yeah sure, if it were a last resort (no pun intended). I’d pay more for somewhere nicer.

Decent location, nice looking pool, but for the price would not ever stay there again. Gross looking stains on the carpet, drywall in the bathroom is peeling. Even with the shower curtain closed the water leaks out and pretty much had a lake in the bathroom. Beds were horribly uncomfortable.
A friend was staying there also and went to enjoy the jacuzzi however not so fun when you go to step into a nice hot jacuzzi and it’s cold.
Very limited parking as well… just not worth the money to stay there at all… not sure where the 5 star reviews are coming from unless it’s from the folks who want a «cheap» looking hotel to party in…

Found this motel on the Living Social website. We checked in at 3:15 PM (3:00 PM check-​in time) to get a nice room but were given an outside corner room looking at the parking lot. Apparently, 30 of the 32 rooms have patios, chairs, tables and pool views… ours was one of two that did not. The motel is touted as dog friendly for $ 10 extra per night. We were told upon check-​in that our well behaved and well traveled dog was not allowed in the courtyard or by the pool.
The motel looked very 60s but not because they were trying to look retro, stuff was just old and worn out. Stains and dirt covered the carpeting in our room (see photo), the drawers on the dresser broken and the furniture dated. For a reason that I don’t understand, our mattress still had the shipping plastic on it (from when it was new) which made a crunching sound every time you moved in the bed at night. We were not enjoying this desert experience and asked if we could move to a different room or check out 1 day early… we were told no.
On the positive side, the continental breakfast was good and the location convenient.
With so many great choices in the Palm Springs area, we would not even consider going back to the Inn at Deep Canyon at any price. Too bad, we come to this area a dozen times a year for business and pleasure.

Looking for a last minute place to stay in Palm Desert and found this place on Unilocal.
Got lucky and they were one of the only places around that had a room available for under $ 300!
This place is cheap! Paid only $ 120 a night on the weekend.
I liked the price.
The people working here were very friendly!
Unfortunately, that is about all the ‘good’ things about this place.
The rest of it pretty much sucked!
First off we had a family that seemed to be having a family reunion in the room next to us. Probably about 10 of them in the room including a crying baby that you could hear through the walls. They had their front door and balcony door open pretty much all the time so they could step outside to smoke.
This place has ashtrays everywhere… on all the balconies, by the pool and on the tables. It’s a real smokers paradise and you will definitely be smelling it in your room.
Very old school!
The room was large and had a big balcony overlooking the pool. The place is old so many things weren’t clean like the bathroom window which was nasty and the bathroom in general was pretty dirty and in need of some work.
The room had adjoining dooring on both sides! eck. So you could easily hear the people on each side.
The door to our room over looked a parking lot and liquor store. Not very appealing.
The hotel was sold out and they parking lot was completely full so we had to park on the street.
The pillows were probably the thinnest pillows I ever experienced at any hotel/​motel. Paper thin and hard to sleep on if you are used to having a fluffy pillow.
This place seems to cater to foreign travelers. At least that was the feeling the weekend we were here. The people at the pool area weren’t very ‘appealing’.
The place is cheap and probably OK for a one night place to stay. But not a place you would want to hang out in or lay by the pool… at least not me anyways.
