Holiday Inn Express Palm Desert

Looking for a quick place to rest? Look somewhere else. Looking forward to sleeping in nice cool room? Look somewhere else. I stayed as quick pit stop on my way back AZ. The room was small and old looking. The bathroom isnt in great shape, the ac never cooled the room, the breakfast was not good, even for hotel standards. I expected a certain level of comfort given it was a Holiday Inn but I doubt I will ever stay here again.
But hey! If you like a warm room, powdered eggs and cold sausage… This the place for you!

Follow up to my earlier review. I ended up staying at Holiday Inn despite my misgivings. After the stay, I received an email survey from HI, which I happily filled out with ‘poor’ across the board stating specifically their reservation process was the reason for the poor reviews, then posted the review on the HI site.
HI came back a few days later and said they deleted the review because of ‘reference to another hotel’, something I have no idea what it means since I didn’t reference any other hotel. So, let alone HI has horrible reservation processes, they censor the reviews they don’t like.
Hat’s off to the Holiday Inn customer service!

This place is so bad. The noise of in-​room air conditioner is like a thunder and intolerant. Called the front desk and had a maintenance guy come up to check, who told me «this is normal, I’m sorry». I’m now glad we’re only staying one night and I’ll never book this one in my life again.
BTW, the speed of wifi is even slower than turtle. IT’S SO BAD!

Great room. Clean friendly staff. Good location. Nice and quiet. Will a stay here again.

Called last week to make a reservation and spoke to the central reservations team. The woman took all my info including my credit card and told me that she would email me my confirmation. As it turns out I never received it. No biggie though as I decided to call and cancel the reservation tonight as I found a better option. When I spoke to the front desk they told me that they did not have a reservation for me! They then sent me over to central scheduling to see if they could find it and after 10 mins of trying to find me they told me that they could not locate my reservation. Because I gave them my credit card I wanted to get something in writing from them stating that the reservation was not made and my card would not be charged. The reservation center told me that they would have to transfer me to the front desk as they did not have the authority to fo this. So I got transfered back to the same guy at the front desk who took my email address and told me he would send out the email stating I would not be charged etc. So after 5 MI s of not receiving the email I called back and was told he would be sending it out in a few minutes, 10 mins later he was working on it, a half of an hour later I was told he spoke with his manager and that he would be the one who could help me with the email and I would need to call back tomorrow AM to talk to him. WTF? I just want to know where all my information went that I gave the woman in the reservation center! Also I am coming out here for my Sister’s wedding and I am traveling with a 10 month old so this would have been a catastrophe if I got there on Sat and was told we did not have a room!
As someone who has grown up staying in Holiday Inns I am very disappointed! This is unacceptable and gives me little faith in booking with them in the future. Thank goodness I have booked elsewhere!

Horrible customer service! These people have a horrible reputation in the valley. I asked to talk to the owner in regards to my experience they refused to give me the information thinking it was funny. So i contacted corporate… The owner did not respond! So corporate fined them… still no response. Melissa and Luis are the worst. Do yourself a favor and go to a hotel that CARES about their community and patrons!

Awful! In need of renovation. We were on the first floor. The room smelled, it was old, it was dirty, the bed was uncomfortable, and the AC was terribly loud! Not what we expected from a Holiday Inn Express.

We have been return guests a number of times over the years to this property and in the past, I would say that our stay was satisfactory but it is very clear that the management of this hotel has changed hands and to tell you the truth, I would never set foot on this hotel’s grounds again. Palm Springs has been experiencing a very serious heat wave and the temperatures have soared in to the stratosphere. My husband and I had been driving all day long through this brutal desert heat, to finally arrive at 10PM. When we arrived, the not so nice, front off ice desk clerk kindly gave us a room and then disappeared into thin air. When we got to the room, the air conditioner was blowing recirculated warm air. We called down to the front desk and no one ever picked up the phone. After my husband finally went down stairs, he returned to tell me that no one was to be found. The temperature in Palm Springs that day was 118 degrees. We finally just left the property and checked in across the street at Embassy Suites. The next morning my husband went back to the property to complain to the manager and ask that we be reimbursed for our stay. The manager was rude to the core, would not even come up to the room to see the problem himself and denied us any refund of our room rate. He could have cared less and keep saying we should have reported it when we got to the room but there was nobody there to report to! We tried… The place looked unkept, the carpet was filthy and air in the halls smelt like smoke. This hotel has definitely gone way down hill. My guess is that it has been sold to some foreigner that has carried the brand name but we might as well have been staying at the Motel 6 in Bakersfield. We never turned back the bedding but god knows when the last time the room was cleaned and I am sure given the heat of the desert, a cockroach or too is residing all over the premises. The button line is… Don’t Go To This Hotel, It’s A Dump…

Happy with the room happy with the front desk check in. great price will come again. If you are looking for a quick stay over this is the spot.

Can’t complaint. Happy with service. Affordable prices free breakfast. Good location, Quite and peaceful just what we were looking for.

Worst customer service ever. This is a company that truly could care less about their customers. They screwed up my reservations then wouldn’t rectify it. Spent 2 hours speaking to several departments to resolve the issue, but to no avail they simply refused to correct… thanks for all your help Holiday Inn! And thanks to the manager who was completely non existent in the matter.

Comfy cozy bed and the pull out couch too!
Full breakfast was freshly made. Fruit was fresh and delicious! I love my morning coffee and the coffee didn’t disappoint me. I would stay here again.

Clean, comfortable, predictable, boring, like any other Holiday Inn Express. Superbly cheap in the off season, unreasonably expensive in the peak season, like any other Palm Desert lodging.
Good location for us, we played golf 3 rounds at Indian Wells and 2 rounds at Classic Club.
You won’t be excited but, you can’t make a mistake either.

This is a rather nice hotel. It’s not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination, and the bathrooms are cramped with a weird layout but overall it is comfortable and quiet and they have a very nice breakfast spread.
This is my third stay here and they are consistent in their quality and presentation.
Definitely recommend.

Not great but not completely horrible either. I probably wouldn’t stay here again unless there was nothing else available.
The bad:
The front desk clerk who basically refused to smile or make eye contact. Our group had 8 rooms and everyone who checked in at different times mentioned how unfriendly she was.
The AC unit is beyond loud and points directly at the bed. There is no way to change the direction of the vent so whoever sleeps on the window side of the room has the choice of air blasting your face all night or sleeping in a stuffy, hot room. It also appears to be set to go no lower than 70 degrees and shuts off when it reaches that point. It got really stuffy during the day.
The toilet area and vanity are separate but the vanity/​sink is so small, you can’t put out more than a toothbrush. There is no counter space at all and there were a bunch of little bugs walking around the sink area. The toilet/​shower area is really dark and the shower curtain smelled like mildew.
Parking was really tight and we ended up at the very back of the lot one night. We noticed the signs everywhere that said «remove all valuables from your vehicle» and didn’t really feel great leaving our car back there, but had no choice.
The good:
The free breakfast in the lobby was actually very good. Everything was hot and very tasty and they even had my favorite brand of Greek yogurt.
Free wireless internet and parking
Nice lobby and outdoor space
The nightly rate was fine for what we got… a mostly clean room in a good location that could accommodate our very large group in town for a party

I enjoyed my stay at this HIE. The price is a little high for what you get but we received excellent service. The room was clean, air worked perfect and the breakfast was good considering that it was free.
You do get a parking pass for the night, but if you come later in the night parking might not be so easy to find.
I would recommend a stay here to try it out yourself.

Before writing my review, I looked at the other reviews. It’s unfortunate, because my experience was EXCELLENT.
Our experience started first with Gino at the front desk. He welcomed us more efficiently and more cordially than any HIE front desk person I’ve encountered (which is weekly). He went above and beyond, offering to call a business where we had accidentally left our credit card! Who does that!!! Apparently, Gino does. I would give the place five stars just for that.
We were upgraded to a king suite (thank you very much!) The room was beautiful and VERY clean.
I would like to give this hotel 5 stars, but there were a few things that were a problem, so they really deserve 4.5 stars.
But, the drain in my shower was slow. Another issue is that I had a late check-​out and got locked out of my room (in my swimsuit no less) because the key didn’t work after noon. Also, a couple of the towels were grayish and kind of shabby looking. The other towels looked okay.
Otherwise, fantastic place.

Overall, Holiday Inn was a pleasant stay for us during Coachella weekend. Although I requested a double bed room, they did not have any available, and so they were accommodating enough to bring a rollaway bed to our room with no extra charge. My only complaint is the water temperature of the shower, which fluctuated between cold and hot during our showers): The free breakfast was quite interesting… especially the pre-​shaped omelets haha. It was decent for a complimentary breakfast, with a selection of pastries, drinks, hot foods, and even cinnamon rolls. I would definitely recommend this hotel, for it is a great deal for the price!

The BF and I were out in the desert for my brothers wedding so we decided to get a room instead of stay at my moms house which was still an hour and a half away. This put us at 15 minutes away from the venue.
The BF booked and selected «standard room» and when we got there they only had a «double room» available, no king beds… I didn’t think you needed to specify and double check such things. I felt like we were those old grandparents who sleep in separate beds. I guess the beds were comfortable enough but after just arriving from a long out of the country trip, it sucked to be still sleeping separate from my beau.
Room has cable, free wifi and there was a nice sized mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker in our room. Older, but it was upgraded and they keep things very clean here. Sheets and towels were pristine white — I get so skeeved out when things are looking dingy in hotels. I like theres a little balcony to our room so we sat out there one night and enjoyed the breeze.
They have free breakfast until 10am which is still too early for us. One of the days I went down and caught it 5 minutes to 10 and they were already shutting it down so I quickly grabbed up items to take upstairs with me. Nothing fancy, but basics were met. There was sausage, bacon, gravy and biscuits in the hot area, a pancake maker, some danishes, muffins, bagels, croissants, yogurt, cereal, milk, coffee, tea, juices. The other morning I didn’t even bother to try to be awake for that.
Check in/​check out was pretty quick here.
It’s standard but it’s comfy and it’s clean so it meets basic needs.

Beware!!! Never stay on the 1^st floor EVER! Under any circumstances! If they only have the first floor available, find another hotel!
My entire family was in town for a wedding and we occupied about 20 rooms. A relative of mine had a room on the first floor and his sliding glass door was smashed at about 1 am and someone stole his computer, car keys, wallet and phone. The hotel did their best to accommodate him but that is a horrible feeling and not one you want to encounter while vacationing. We were informed that there are pretty crappy apartment complexes backed up to this hotel.
Our room was decent with a nice view of the pool. The breakfast is plentiful in the mornings (one of the nicest free breakfasts’s I have ever seen). Customer service is okay. If you are loud after hours you get one warning, then tossed out :)
The kids enjoyed the heated pool.
