Proof It Pest Control

I cannot provide input on the quality of Proof It’s service because they never showed up! On three different occasions, they told me they would call (I.e., «after 4 pm», «mid-​morning», etc.) to let me know when they would come by. I hung around waiting, but they didn’t call. With each of the first two no-​shows, I called them. By the third, I didn’t bother. Unless you have nothing better to do with your time, I wouldn’t bother calling Proof It.

Didn’t finish the job. Promised to come back to finish the fence patches to prevent skunks from entering the backyard, and simply never did. Nice guy, terrible follow through on finishing the job.

Tim at proof it was incredibly helpful. A rat crawled into my bedroom at 2am, and my regular service Terminex would not do anything at all. I called Palmieri pest control who referred me to Tim. He came out the same day-​we could not find the rat, but he advised me what to do. Then he sent 6 men who spent hours under my house proofing it. After that Palmieri pest control came, and placed traps. They were thorough and efficient.

I live in a condo complex and was horrified one night to see a mouse in my living room. I never saw more than one at a time; however, one was quite a handful. For example, when I was almost asleep in bed, this acrobatic little thing ran into the bedroom (I’d closed the door, but there’s a gap under it), jumped up on the bed, ran across my head, and disappeared. Being the wimp I am, I was severely traumatized and spent a night huddled on the couch with rattled nerves. I didn’t see a mouse again until the morning, when I saw it run across the living room floor and dive behind the TV where a tangle of wires I guess provided cover. I figured there were likely more than one mouse given the drought and all, so I set traps and called Proof It. About an hour later, one of my Victor traps caught the thing by one foot, which was horrible: It dragged itself back under the TV cabinet, crawled into the baseboard heater, and died. Anyway, Proof It was too busy to come that day but came the next day. One of Tim’s associates removed my baseboard heater (at my request – I don’t use it) and the dead mouse, while Tim sealed off some gaps on the exterior of my unit using thick wire mesh. He also found many other possible points of entry elsewhere on the building’s exterior. I’m hoping my HOA will cover my $ 300 bill for these services, and I also hope that they consider rodent proofing the entire complex before next year’s predicted El Nino. I’m giving a rating of A-​OK here because the inspection/​repair didn’t seem particularly thorough, they didn’t have all their own tools (things that would seem obvious like a small mirror, a screwdriver, etc.) and had to borrow mine, and the bill seemed hefty for what was done (though I really have no reference as to a typical charge for this sort of service). I believe it’s important to support small local businesses. I would call Proof It again.

I had Proof-​It come to put place to rat proof our house about a year ago. We had Palmieri Pest Control come to eradicate the existing rats, and they suggested Proof-​It to patch things up. Should have checked others before trusting them on their suggestion…
I had to call them multiple times to get through to them, and they charged us about $ 1500 to proof our place. 2 guys came and spent less than a day (and because it took them forever to call back, I asked 2 other guys to quote us on the job — one guy came back with a $ 400 quote, but he was also extremely slow at responding that we had already gotten Proof-​It to come out). They basically just used barbed wires everywhere to close off any gaps. A year later, I’m calling Palmieri Pest Control again, and they caught 4 rats this time.
When the rat control guys came out, they were surprised at the sloppy work that Proof-​It had done. They told me that the barbed wires that Proof-​It had placed at our crawl space entrance was doing absolutely nothing (there were wide gaps that allowed rats to freely enter and exit). The barbed wires that they placed on our deck was also falling apart after about half a year, so I had to redo them completely (even our dog was able to enter through the barbed wires they placed!).
I called Tim 3 times already (all at least a week apart). He promised that he’d send someone over, but nobody has come as of yet. This company is completely sleezy — I’d stay away from them. Look for other proofers — there are so many other options!

4 different companies, spend $ 7,500, and
6 months later I still have a rat problem. I
bent over backs to work with Tim, a local
guy but after waiting a month for him to send
someone to fix the rat entry under the garage
door that they missed, and not hearing from
him to explain why they haven’t come out to fix
it, I would give zero stars if I could.
First, they don’t do construction and my
carport/​garage needed a footer and door
so I wasted months waiting for their recommended
guy to get out for an estimate. Their guy
said he could do the work for $ 10,000 — just the
construction part. Proof It would seal all rat
entry points for $ 1,000. But they don’t trap or
do clean up! So I had to pay 2 other companies
to trap and to clean up. Ok, 6 months later
I think the garage is rat proof so I temporary
store a mattress I am donating in the garage
for 2 weeks. The person picking up the mattress
finds out it is ruined by rats!!! My boyfriend
points to the sunlight streaming into the garage
under the garage door. He said quick Crete
needs to be poured into the trough where
the door meets the ground to close the 1.5 inch
gap where the rats are obviously getting in.
I called Proof It and asked to get here asap
to seal the gap and a month later I am still
waiting!!! I don’t trust their work so am
having another company come out next week
to redo their work!!! Nightmare dealing with
this company!!!

I called Proof It based on a referral because I had a squirrel in my attic. When I called, I mentioned the squirrel and that I also had a broken duct as a result of the squirrel. I asked if they can fix the duct also, and the gentleman replied that yes, «we do it all». So, I requested their service.
Didn’t hear anything for several days, so I called again and they said someone would call me early the next week. The person I spoke with also suggested I send an email so I did. In the email I mentioned the squirrel in the attic and broken ductwork.
Early the next week I received a call at work that they were in the neighborhood and could they go up on the roof and take a look. I said yes. They called me back a bit later and said they found where the squirrel got in and would flush the squirrel and block the opening for $ 475. I asked about the broken duct and he said he’ll try to fix it from the outside, since I wasn’t there. It was probably my mistake at this point to tell them to go ahead and do the work, but I did, as I felt the squirrel was potentially causing further damage to the attic.
I came home and the squirrel was gone, but the duct was not fixed. They left a bill for $ 475 and wrote in «now» along with the service rendered. I called back and inquired about the duct and the gentleman I spoke with said «we don’t really do that». And that he’ll «give my name to a guy». They called a week later requesting their payment and telling me they «gave my name to a guy» twice. (Don’t worry, your check is in the mail, guys).
I’m giving 2 stars (not one) because they got rid of the squirrel. Coming to my home without an appointment and then not repairing the ductwork was unprofessional. On top of that, it was crazy expensive. Not recommended.

I originally called Palmieri because of his quantity of reviews, mostly 5 stars. He seemed busy and referred me to Proof It. I’m really glad he did.
Eric called me back quickly as promised and him and Carlos arrived within a couple of hours from a job in the city. Super-​friendly and knowledgable guys from the start. After I explained my problems and tales of woe they inspected the house and pointed out various rodent entry points. They immediately identified the smell as dead rat (gross). They went to work. They found a dead rat in the basement and Carlos found another in the crawl space. I elected to have them seal («proof») the house entirely and they did the job in 2 hours. They repaired 4 ground level vents and eight roof line circular ones. They also laid traps in the basement in case there are other rats hiding.

This is a tiny outfit with a crazy busy schedule, but they take their mission seriously and provide great service.
My good friend found evidence of a rat infestation in his 1960 home. We called Palmieri, who laid traps and seemed to isolate the problem. For cleanup, at Palmieri’s suggestion, we called Proof It.
To our complete surprise, Eric and Brian found a veritable RAT SUBWAY under the house: the «transfer point» where the water service entered the house had never been sealed, so rats could enter through the garage and the go anywhere they liked, even the bedroom!
The droppings are now gone, and the subway is closed off. Great work from Proof It!

Eric and Carlos came the same day, I called another company called Pet Detective and still never received a call back. Proof it is professional, honest and expedient! Palmieri Pest Control referred me and I’m so glad. We had dead rodent under the house that smelled so bad and they found it, disposed of it and sealed all entries. Will refer always. Thanks guys!

Tim arrived the same day I called and diagnosed the problem right away. Honest and extremely helpful. Can’t remember the guy that came with him, but he was great as well — thoroughly examining my house and identifying entry points. Cool little JR Terrier «working dog» too!

Called Proof It recently to come out and trap some rats and find where they were getting into our garage. Tim and another gentlemen named Brian came out and set traps and then over the next few days came back to check them and remove the dead ones until they couldn’t find anymore. Then they really took there time and found every crack and crevice where they might be entering and sealed them up.
So far it has been 5 weeks and no new droppings anywhere! Thanks guys, great job!!!

Proof It has a very unique service that really addressed the root cause of our rat and mouse problem. We live in the country and rodents are just a fact of life, but who wants them living in your house and having parties all night while you want to sleep?
They came out and advised that we seal every possible entry that a mouse could use to get inside. We did that and baited to eliminate any animals currently residing inside.
Voila. Problem solved. If you are dealing with rodents, they might return if all you are doing is baiting or trapping. I recommend sealing the house using Proof It.

So… horrible smell in our house. Two guys came out and spent over 2 hours at our house, checking to ensure it was sealed well and of course, checking our crawl space and home for a dead animal. They could isolate the smell and location, but unfortunately no crawl space access was in the vicinity of the problem. They sprayed and sealed one area of our home, and they tried very hard to remove the problem, but could not. They were professional, patient with my very excited kids, and were thorough. A few weeks later, still smelling. Another guy came out, and diagnosed our issue was not a dead animal but something else going on. While I wish they had diagnosed it the first visit, I also realize without having crawl space, it is tough. The second guy did not charge me and gave me lots of suggestions and tips. I’d recommend them… and now I’m calling a plumber. Ugh.

Tim talked with me on the phone about a minor problem we were having with some rats out back. He also sent his associate out to have a look and to consult with me. Sensing I was pretty handy and willing to do the work, they suggested some solutions for managing the situation myself — both for the short and long term. So far, the results have been stellar. I’ll certainly call these guys when I have another issue that I can’t take care of myself. They were smart, professional, and took a real interest in helping us solve the problem.

We used Proof It when we started noticing a stench in our house earlier this week. It was a smell that could only be that of a dead animal. My husband called Proof It for some help. Eric came out and found a dead rat in our crawl space which he removed. He also determined one had gotten into our wall and died near the waste line. He disinfected and deodorized the area to help the smell and hopefully accelerate the decomposition of the dead animal. Additionally, he patched up the vent screens on the outside of the house.
Very professional and reasonably priced. I’d recommend these guys if you have any kind of rodent or pesky animal issue. We would definitely use them again if we need to.
