Residence Inn San Diego Oceanside

My family and I have stayed at several Marriott’s and This Residence Inn was just so dirty! Another person mentioned in his review that the hallways were dirty and the elevator too… This was totally true! There was a plastic knife on the carpet in the hallway the whole time we stayed there. I left the maid a note and it still wasn’t picked up. My room was just as dirty. I had my husband go to the store to buy Lysol wipes and I cleaned our kitchen and bathrooms and left the dirty wipes on the counter to show the maid the gross dirt! There was even food left in our freezer from the previous person. The glass on the exiting doors were also nasty and I found the office manager outside smoking several times so I didn’t even bother to bring up the subject of the unsatisfactory experience and instead decided to post my review here which I’ve never done.

Our apartment flooded and this is where our insurance company placed us, yay!
In the same plaza as some great food places and the bar we always go to which was awesome. Checking in was a breeze and our room was perfect for our situation. Room included a small living room, kitchen and two rooms. Housekeeping was great about coming in when we called and check out was once again easy.
On Tuesdays they do grilling and give our free food and beer/​wine!

I have been to a few Residence inn and this one is alright. The rooms are very clean. The staff on the other hand is a little rude. They are not very helpful. I forgot my tooth brush the day upon my arrival. I called the front desk to ask if they had any they could send to my room. He told me no. I found this odd since I have stayed at other Residences Inns and know that they do have tooth brushes. Also people serving the food are a bit rude. I guess it is the customer service that makes me second guess another arrival to this location.

Hallways were not clean and elevator looked like it was wiped down last year.

Great location, room and amenities. Onsite coin operated laundry room right next to the gym. Pool is right outside the gym with outdoor fire pit and lounge chairs where they offer s’mores in the evening 7:30 — 8:30pm with beer and wine. Super accommodating hotel. They even had small laundry detergents and bounce sheets enough for single use in Laundry room. The rooms were spacious and very clean with very comfortable beds. We had a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite with full kitchen including full stove top, oven and microwave. Full size fridge and cookware, plates and silverware. Nicely updates accommodations and great friendly staff. We will definitely return. Oh and the beach is just down the road 10 – 15 min! Great location! Neighboring restaurants in same parking lot also very good!

From the moment we arrived it was a great experience. The assistant manager checked us immediately checked us in. He was friendly and informative. The room was great. Slept very well and it was quiet. The breakfast was exceptional and the location couldn’t get any better. Loved my stay and would highly recommend this hotel. I also have to give kudos to Miguel. He is a stand out Employee. This guy knows customer service and Marriott is lucky to have him. Smiles continuously and will make your stay exceptional. Will be back for sure!

If I could give no stars at all I would. I had a huge wedding party that stayed at this hotel about 2 weeks ago, when I say huge we rented a total of 10 rooms and each one for two nights minus two of the rooms they only stayed for 1 night. I was the groom. The only reason we stayed here was because of the reviews and the easy access to our venue. My first night we lost our room key, I went to the front desk at about 11pm to get a replacement, I found Israel the front desk worker sleeping. When I politely woke him up (lol) and asked for a new key he looked up my room and said my name was not on it, well that’s because our parents booked them for us with the same last name but no problem though I understand, when I asked who I needed to have contact him to ensure we could get a new key he looked at me with a blank stare and said I can’t help you. I was confused considering I’m a General Manager of a restaurant and in the same hospitality field as this and that type of service is NOT expectable period. After all I got a key, within 20 mins of him giving it to me he also gave us 2 noise complaints and served one 5 mins after the first. He was out to get us. The next day, which was Sunday the day of my WEDDING I get a call to the room at 8am from gentlemen named Ryan, who claimed to be the GM of the hotel. Little did he know I already got the real GMs name and phone number the night before to make a complaint about his worker sleeping at the front desk and his rude actions towards us. He then told me I had to leave his hotel no questions asked? What about my side of the story the true side. I asked him his position again just to clarify I didn’t hear him wrong again he answered Im the General Manager here. I then informed him I knew he was not and I was already going to make a complaint about our service, he started back paddling and said well I’m the asst Gm big deference and a lie to try and scare me. I asked him if I could meet him at the front desk to talk about what really happened here, he told me he wasn’t even at the hotel and its was his day off and what an inconvenience it was that he had to call me. Is this a joke that’s your job first off and way are you telling me it’s an inconvenience I’m your guest. I’m the one who paid all this money and my family’s money to stay at your resort. Your job is hospitality maybe you should learn what that means your GUEST pay YOUR salary period. All in all we stayed the next night only because we paid for it. I ran into Israel again the next night and he was beyond rude I can’t even believe it. I have filled a complaint with there corporate office and will resolve this or at last get refunded or get someone to fix the problem here. It was the biggest weekend of my life and this is the service I get. I only live 5 mins down the road from there and stayed at a hotel for the experience and this is what I get? I have left a msg for the real GM twice now and have not heard back. When I called last time they told me he is in charge of two hotels and he is very busy? Again not expectable. I’m on my way home from my honeymoon and will just go to the hotel when I’m back to speak with him face to face since I can’t get a phone call back. All in all there are plenty of hotels to stay at I would keep away from this place, I think I have only left 4 Unilocal reviews in my life and all good except this one. So I’m not the guy to just bash on something even when service I bad I usually don’t say anything but this time was like a bad dream so I had to.

I have stayed in quite a few hotels in my lifetime due to traveling for work, and I would have to say, this hotel was one of the best. I needed a late check-​in due to traffic driving down to Oceanside from LA and when I called to ask, the guy that I spoke with was extremely nice and told me to «please drive safe!» Upon arrival, he remembered that he had spoken with me and checked me in in no time at all. He gave me all of the info I needed for my stay without missing a beat.
The room was extremely clean and well kept and stocked with the necessary kitchen accessories and bathroom toiletries. I had read in other reviews that the walls were thin, but I did not have a single problem with noise.
The gym is 24 hours and there is also an awesome basketball court, clean pool, and clean hot tub – extremely convenient for the active types like my boyfriend and I.
The breakfast buffet was very tasty and very filling, with mini waffle makers (and choice of blueberries, chocolate chips, or strawberries), hot eggs/​sausage/​potatoes/​biscuits/​sausage gravy, a variety of pastries and cereals, and a choice of juices, teas, and sodas.
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re staying in Oceanside for ANY reason. I will be returning!

Some of the best customer service I’ve experienced.
We stay at a lot of hotels –mostly Marriott’s, but others as well, so we’re used to getting really good customer service. The staff at this Marriott set themselves apart with the exceptional service they provided us.
We took our 4 children and their significant others to San Diego for Christmas and had a few unexpected issues with rooms come up. The manager immediately went above and beyond to take care of us. The front desk staff were amazing. They were a huge part of our vacation being one of the best ones we’ve been on.

2^nd stay. We had an issue with fraud literally 2 days before I was scheduled to leave on my business card not at any fault to the Marriott it was something i stupidly did. Donovan was extremely helpful and accommodating in helping us deal with the billing of our stay. The room was ready early, clean and everything as as requested. This is a very dog friendly hotel as I have said before. We had a few issues with some of the guests as there were some unleashed dogs and some dogs who were not the friendliest. Breakfast is always awesome and filling. another great stay.

We only stayed for one night for a wedding in the area. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Our room was on the major street but when in the room we heard nothing. We didn’t get to use the pool or the kitchen. The breakfast choices were of a wide variety but it was typical free breakfast taste… bland. The staff is fantastic!!!

Left a pair of earrings in the room and called less than 1hr after checking out only to be told there was nothing left behind. Really?

From the minute we walked in I have been impressed with how friendly and attentive the staff is. This place have full amenities including basketball and tennis courts, fitness room, and even an animal friendly area.

I’ve stayed at many Residence Inn, this one seems a bit different than some of the ones I’ve stayed at. Here’s why.
I redeemed my points for here the other night during a weekend. The good thing was, it was only 20,000 points. It’s reasonable and of course, I love Residence Inn so that you can get hot breakfast in the morning. Saves a lot of time. So I booked it here while going to Legoland.
I have to say though, this hotel is not directly off the freeway. It’s still a few miles inland. Depending on where you’re coming from, you either see some industrial area or a whole vast of nothing.
There is a big lot here, next to a strip mall of restaurants. That was nice, though being a semi-​local, I already knew I wasn’t going to eat at any of the restaurants there. (There was a BBQ place but I’ll have to check it out another time)
This hotel layout is shaped like an L with the elevator in the middle of the L. So it can get kind of confusing where you are going. Our room was on the 4^th floor. They say all the rooms were king bed studios. I was hoping for 2 beds but the lady at the front desk said they didn’t have any. Huh?
I would think so people would need 2 beds, am I wrong?
I also noticed no free coffee /​tea on the way to the elevator like my usual Marriotts. Dang it.
The room was small, the bathroom was decent. The bed was firm (that was a thumbs up) Probably not good for the kids to jump because there was no bounce.
The gripe I had with the room was the air conditioning because it sounded like a VW starting up for 10 minutes throughout the night. There were no soap and sponge to do the dishes (not that we ate) but we usually get a travel size type in Residence Inns.
The pool was heated and the hot tub was extremely hot.
The gym was good size with a tv, 2 threadmill, a exercycle and an elliptical along with a multipurpose machine and free weights.
The hot breakfast had Latkes (potato pancakes). Yay! That was good. They also had Florida Natural’s orange juice. (also good) but it ran out.
Upon checking out, I told the lady to email me a copy of my receipt and I have yet to receive it. We’ve also lost something in our room and of course, it’s no where to be found.
So there’s a lot of good and bad for this Residence Inn, just take note of it.

We came here for 3 nights as a quiet place for me to spend the weekend studying for the CPA exam. Yes, I can study at home, but liked the idea of being somewhere that laundry and other household activities would not call my name all weekend. The added bonus was that it’s fairly close to Ocean’s 11, so my hubby could play poker while I studied.
We had a studio suite which was quite spacious. There was a kitchen, with a microwave, full size fridge and a dishwasher (cooktop only, no oven), as well as dishes/​cookware etc. We like that for the option to have simple meals in the room. The room had a desk, a dining table, and sitting area, in addition to the sleeping area. The room was bright and the windows open to allow the fresh air coming off the ocean.
The buffet breakfast was a cut above some other hotels, a little bigger variety, and they did a decent job of keeping it stocked.
I liked the outdoor area as well, with a pool, hot tub, basketball court, fire pit, and large bbq grill. There was lots of seating outside as well.
The only thing I didn’t like about it was that it’s kind of remote, as far as stores etc. There is a strip mall with a few restaurants across the parking lot, but I wish there had been more variety of places I could walk to.
I would stay here again.

Stayed here for one night on a Marriott rewards voucher and was pretty happy with it. I called in the afternoon to tell them we would be arriving late and asked for extra towels and toiletries. The receptionist on the phone was super friendly and a nice supply of toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoos, and soaps was waiting for us when we checked in at close to midnight.
The room was a good size, still relatively new, and very clean. This Residence Inn really lives up to expectations for a Marriott. Free WiFi, and breakfast is included. Breakfast is nothing fancy, but it’s a decent variety of standard fare items (eggs, sausage, pancakes, muffins, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, milks/​juices, fruits) and did the job for us before we were on our way.
Yes, the location is not the greatest. It’s in the middle of a strip mall, but if you’re driving a car, (which you would kind of have to to get around in that area), it won’t be that big of an issue anyways.

Wow! I was really impressed with this place. It was nicer and cleaner than some five star hotels I’ve stayed in. The room was huge and FULLY STOCKED with everything you could possibly need… measuring cups, dish towels, etc etc. Beautiful appliances too. Loved the décor and the free wifi and breakfast were great too. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This is a pretty nice Residence Inn. I stayed here after determining that it is located at the halfway point between Laguna and San Diego.
As far as the hotel itself, the rooms are very large and on new (ish). The room that we stayed in had stainless steel appliances, two nice sized TV’s, and a very large living room. I was traveling with my dogs so all of these things were important with me.
Considering the room size, the rate is very affordable ($ 140ish). They do charge a $ 100 pet fee like all Marriot’s, so I would not come here for just a day with dogs.

The suite was spacious, clean and enough room for about a dozen people to hang out, get hair and make up done, and have breakfast.
The view isn’t spectacular as our suite overlooked the neighboring strip mall full of restaurants.
