Rosina’s Italian Restaurant

This is a true Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is very quaint and romantic the food is outstanding and 100% authentic Italian food. you can’t go wrong –I would say it is the best Italian restaurant in this area you will not be disappointed.

Awesome dinner! Food was spectacular and the staff was great. I would highly recommend Rosina’s, in fact I already have :)

Tonight we arrived for dinner to celebrate our anniversary with our kids. We were immediately seated and told by our waitress that she would be right back. After the third I’ll be right back and 20 minutes of waiting we stood up and exited the restaurant.
I understand being busy, but waiting 20 minutes is unacceptable. As we were leaving we walked by the waitress and owner and neither of them said anything or apologized for the long wait and lack of service. Needless to say we will not attempt a second visit.

My husband and I went here last night and had a wonderful experience. We’ll be back!
Rosina herself greeted us and brought us to our table and told us about the specials. Our server was very attentive and the courses came out quickly and hot. My husband had the Alla Vodka dish while I had the Puttanesca con Pollo. Sorry — failed to take pictures as we dove into our meals, but I can tell you they were absolutely delicious. Great prices on wine, too!
This might be one of the better Italian restaurants we’ve been to since moving to the San Diego area. Friendly service, quite atmosphere, good-​priced drinks — and most importantly, awesome food.

Without a doubt my favorite restaurant in North County. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the proprietors clearly take a lot of pride in what they craft for our consumption. Food here is not just sustenance, but part of the fiber of life, and truly a labor of love.
Everything on the menu is fantastic. For lunch, it’s hard to beat the daily specials, particularly the pizza, which is thin and crispy in the true Italian style. For dinner, my personal favorite is the crespella.
The ambiance in the evening is perfect for any date or special occassion, and the bill won’t break the bank.
Come for lunch and enjoy Rosina herself, and a more casual setting than the dinner scene. She is full of personality, and will never stop telling you how great her food is (and she’s right!).

Rosina greeted us at the door, seated us, and told us the specials. All of which I’ve defined as «cooking with love.» She is a gracious host. Our waitress, Rey (sorry if I misspelled that) was on top of things as well. We had an awesome first experience and will be future visitors again soon. Thanks for everything.

Was in the mood for pasta and let me tell you this place didn’t disappoint. My boyfriend had the original spaghetti and I had the pasta with sausage. The taste was on point and you could taste the fresh ingredients. The quality of the food was GREAT!

I think their staff is a bit confusing, they say they are going to do something and then they forget. I asked for some plates and they say yes and then had to wait. They need to focus or hire new staff, please pay attention to customers need. Food is okay, not memorable. Food needs a bit improvement and I think this is potential if they pay attention to detail.

Tonight was our first time at Rosalinas. I was very impressed. Our server Ray was AWESOME. She was super attentive and sweet. We split the Insalata del Oro first followed by the fettucine bolognese. Both were delicious. I loved the bread too. An appetizer, entrée, and a glass of wine for under 40 $. We will definitely be back soon.

I am a return customer and I am pleased that my food and service received was just as delightful as my first experience. Time for me to become a regular! Yes it’s THAT good!

We had a delicious lunch at Rosina’s. Rosina herself served us. She’s inviting and very Italian. It feels like you walk into her home for a traditional Italian meal. I had the butternut squash soup and caprese salad. Both were as good as it gets. My husband had the bolognese pasta and sighed with pleasure after each bite!
I’m looking forward to trying dinner there next time!

Our room mates come here every other week for date night and they talk it up every time. Seriously every time. So naturally the husband and I decided to do a last minute date night and gave it a shot. HOLY COW! SO delicious! The second we walked in we were greeted by a sweet women and sat us down and told us all the specials. She also took a minute to get to know us which I thought was really nice. After our drinks were brought (Husband ordered an IPA on tap I had the Segura Viudas brut, both very good. Went great with dinner) The owner knew everyone that came in, by name! And if she didn’t know them she took the time to get to know them, so it was a very homey feel :)
We now try to go every other week. The customer service is fantastic and the food is way beyond delicious. A great date night restaurant

Can’t believe we found a truly gourmet Italian restaurant in Oceanside! Not only incredible, fresh food and great service but a wonderful, intimate European atmosphere and reasonable prices. What a gem!
We’ve eaten there twice, dinner and lunch. We can highly recommend the sauteed pork scallopini in marsala sauce, the spinach and ricotta crespelle (very much like manicotti and devastatingly delicious!), the pizza (very thin crust, all fresh ingredients, and the sausage, salami, and other meats used are authentic Italian and fantastic.)
Leaving the very best for last, the butternut squash soup we had was completely out of this world. I could have made an entire meal of that soup along with their fresh crusty bread accompanied by the addicting dipping sauce.
Their desserts are heavenly and all house-​made, too! We had their melt-​in-​your mouth tiramisu and a chocolate bread pudding with vanilla sauce that was chocolate paradise.
The service we had both times was excellent. We were greeted warmly, told all about the daily specials, given advice by the owner as to what we might like the best, and given plenty of time to enjoy our meal. The service is laid back and casual yet attentive. The day we came for lunch there were only two servers to take care of a full house – even then, we did not want for good service.
If you’re like us and long for a truly gourmet yet completely unpretentious Italian restaurant, you’ll find it in Rosina’s. Please give it a try. We predict it will become the local restaurant you’ll think first when you want a fine Italian meal.

Genuinely upset that I have to write an amendment to my original review. I love the food here, but customer service should be number 1. I called on a Friday night because my husband and I were craving some awesome Italian, and we knew that this place can get pretty crowded. Called twice, no one answered. FInally, on the 3^rd call, someone answered but sounded extremely frazzled and frankly, was not very friendly. They said that there were open tables available, so off we went.
Upon our arrival, there was no one at the hostess stand. Which would be understandable if they were busy, but there were hardly any people in the restaurant, and at least 3 empty, unbussed tables! We stood there for 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged our presence. After a quick «we’ll be right with you», no one ever came back. 2 woman walked past us a bunch of times without even looking our way. No apology, no acknowledgement whatsoever. We, no joke, stood there for 10 – 15 minutes until we decided we were hungry and couldn’t wait any longer and walked out. I’m so disappointed… Not sure if we’ll be returning.

Absolutely the best Italian food that I have ever had! My sons and I were starving and staying in the Residence Inn across the street when we stumbled into this treasure. I have never, ever, ever been this satisfied after a meal. My taste buds were tangoing after each bite. What in the world! And… Rosina! Oh, sweet Rosina, came to our table to make sure that we were all enjoying ourselves. Our food server «Ray» was just that! A Ray of sunshine as she made sure that this was the best experience we have ever had.

Great little spot for home cooked Italian food in Carlsbad/​Oceanside area. It had good ambience, romantic enough for a date but causal enough for jeans. I really appreciated the friendly staff too! The food was amazing. Complimentary bread and dipping oil was delightful. Thursday’s they have lasagna so I’ll be back!
We didn’t drink so I can’t comment on their wine selection but the bar looked pretty well stocked.

Love this place. Went here for my birthday and got fantastic attentive service and quick fabulous food! I will definitely be coming here again!

Once again Unilocal has never failed us. My hubby and I ate here last night for the first time last night for our wedding anniversary. We needed to find a place close to my parents house in Oceanside since they were watching our daughter.
It was the neatest coincidence because it was Rosina’s 7 year anniversary from when she opened the restaurant! So we got $ 7 appetizers (Caprese & Stuffed peppers to die for) and $ 7 off a bottle of their house Pinot noir!
From the very beginning our server Katie and Rosina were incredibly professional, courteous, and attentive. I always love when I see the owner of a restaurant going around chatting with their patrons.
Ok the food… O… M…G. My husband ordered the lasagna (which they ended up running out of shortly after he got his because it’s that popular) and I ordered the linguine clams which was one of Rosina’s favorite meals. Both were OUTSTANDING and the lasagna melts in your mouth. Hands down best linguine and clams I’ve ever had and I’ve ordered it at a ton of places (Carmela’s, Fratelli’s, etc). The portion sizes are just right too.
For desert we split a crème brûlée which was to die for also. Katie also made my husband a Manhattan to drink and he is a huge whiskey snob and gave her two thumbs up on his cocktail!
Rosina we will be back! Molto molto bene!

If you like eggplant parmigiana, lasagna or Risotto you will love this place. Everything we ate was so good. You could tell they make their dishes from scratch and it shows in their food presentation.
Make sure to order the stuffed mushrooms they are to die for!

We came here for date night and I was excited to try a new Italian restaurant. At first glance this place looked great. I left having mixed feelings about this place.
Food: We were given a bread basket with a olive oil and sun dried tomato mix for dipping. We ordered the stuffed peppers as an appetizer. Which took a while to come out, we were beginning to think it would end up coming out with the main course. The stuffing of meat was good and the sauce had a nice spice. The outside of the pepper was a little tough and difficult to eat. We both ordered pasta, I got the fettuccine with seafood and he got the fettuccine with meat sauce. The food took about an hour to reach our table. My dish came out warm but not piping hot. And my boyfriend’s dish came to the table about room temp not even warm. Both the dishes came out at the same time. The portion sizes were good, it fills you up. The flavor of the food was good but it wasn’t anything extraordinary.
Customer service: When we first walked in we were greeted by a server who told us we had to wait to be seated by the owner herself. So we stood and waited for the owner. It took a few minutes but she came to front and asked if we needed help. We told her we were waiting to be seated and then she walked away. She proceeded to check on tables and filled water containers walking back and forth. Finally came back to the front grabbed some menus and proceeded to the outdoor seating area not saying word. We just assumed she wanted us follow and so we did. It was just awkward standing there waiting to be seated while servers walked passed us. I think a hostess would have been nicer at the front to greet customers. I have to say our server was really kind. She checked on us consistently and took care of our needs.
Atmosphere: We decided not to sit inside, it was a little too dark and very stuffy. The outdoor area was nicer and its next to a fountain in the shopping center. There are several umbrellas outside and a white tent in the center (picture posted).
Bottom line would I come back, yes I would come back again on a different day see if things would be better.
