Victoria Bochat Interiors

Victoria has come to the rescue when I needed help with color and curtains for my living room, dining room, bedroom and bath. She has great instincts for color and directed me towards draperies that I never would have chosen on my own, but have worked out wonderfully! She listens to my concerns and objectives and gives thoughtful (and humerous) advice, and stays within a budget! She has a great design sense and helped to group and position artwork.
She is a delight.

I wanted to like Victoria because she is such a nice woman (hence a two star as opposed to one star), but I really couldn’t bring myself to say that I was satisfied with her interior design service. I was rather disappointed. I had worked with one other interior designer in the past and compared to her, Victoria is below expectations. I used her because her rate is cheap, but you really get what you pay for. When I talked to her on the phone prior to our first meeting, she promised everything I asked for: she said she can do room schematics, furniture specs and recommendation, sourcing and color recommendation, all within 5 hours of her time. I thought it sounded too good to be true so wanted to give her a try. Well, she came to our house and spent two hours listening to me talk (but not really «listening» because she didn’t do most of the stuffs I told her to do), and barely took any measurement of the room. A week later, she emailed me this super simple room schematics that looked like she took it right out of furniture retailer sites such as
— the schematic was so simple that it looked like a canned drawing and that it looks like it would take 5 minutes to put that thing together. I didn’t see any creativity in that room schematics. And then she sent me several word documents that had pictures that she had cut and pasted from various shopping sites! And that was all she delivered! For 5 hours and $ 500. When I asked about furniture specs (exact measurements) and color recommendation, she told me I would have to pay more for that since she has already spent over 5 hours of her time. Needless to say, I didn’t use her service any longer. I was very disappointed at the quality of her work. Again, Victoria is a very nice and sweet woman. Maybe she is a good designer but she certainly didn’t present her work like a good designer would do. Or maybe she would do a better job if you hire her for more hours, but then she should tell people upfront about that and don’t misrepresent to clients that you could do everything they want in 5 hours.

Victoria was absolutely picture-​perfect to help us furnish & decorate our new home. She was full of inspired and practical recommendations; was flexible, reliable, with a wonderful sense of style. She was able to guide our new home project from our overwhelming «OMG — what-​do-​we-​do-​now?» panic, to careful planning, through successful implementation. We were worried that we might feel intimidated, but were not; she was easy & fun to work with.
She assured us that interior design projects are «works in progress» — Everyone has different needs and goals and she specializes in making the process personal, enjoyable and affordable (we had a budget!). She listened carefully to both of us (we don’t always agree — need I say more?) and was able to create a unique multi-​step plan we both loved. We wanted to start with living /​family room & dining room. Next, we plan tackle bedrooms and window treatments.
She was right on the mark at rearranging and repurposing some furnishings we already had. She created room-​schematics, to scale, to illustrate numerous furniture sizing & placement possibilities. Our family room is a really odd shape — but she came up with an ingenious plan. Her creative ideas were plentiful –we never could have thought up any of these concepts!
Victoria proposed a vibrant color palette, coordinating custom fabrics, built-​in ideas and organization opportunities — like storage for our kid’s toys, (which were everywhere)! Under her direction, we had a lovely window seat, with large storage drawers built into a neglected corner. We also had some painting done. She has trusted resources for artisans, carpenters, painters, electricians, etc.
She guided our purchases of beautiful, contemporary, new and vintage furniture — including sectional, rugs, coffee table, lighting, dining table & chairs, server and art (we bought these wonderful oversize canvas wraps). We were even able to take advantage of some designer discounts,
we appreciated that. She also figured out ways to incorporate the TV without consuming the room.
The project was a complete success — making our family happy & cozy in our newly improved home. It all looks amazing — we LOVE being inside & we are truly elated with the way it turned out. We will totally continue to consult her for step 2 and beyond.

I’m remiss in not posting this review sooner! I used Victoria Bochat a few years ago to help me redecorate my home. She did a great job understanding just what I was looking for, and helped me achieve it in a cost efficient and beautiful way. We kept some pieces that I already had, bought some others, and in the end, created lovely rooms exactly suited to my taste and budget. Victoria’s got a great eye and was able to steer me in the right direction without pressuring me to go out of my comfort zone or my budget. And, she’s got a fun personality. She’s a find!
