Lauren and Jill were great to work with. They came out to my small 1200 sq. ft. condo and really helped me transform it. Lauren was fantastic sourcing various items for me and gave me opportunities to view the furniture at local stores before ordering. The consulting did not stop with furniture. Lauren worked on accessories, rugs, pillow etc. The absolute best part was that Lauren and Jill came out to my condo and hung all my art work. We talked over which pieces would fit in various spaces and they did the measuring and hanging. They arranged things artfully on my bookshelves too. I highly recommend this team.

Lauren at Visual Jill did a fantastic job for us with a difficult task: taking a small bedroom with awkward dimensions and turning it into a space that a six-​year-​old boy and a three-​year-​old girl would actually want to share. Three months later, our kids are still happily co-​habitating, and their room is a wonderful place to be (for kids and grown-​ups alike).
Lauren managed to maximize every square inch of the room, and make it all look great in the process. She made us a great Pinterest board with furniture ideas, plus a really amazing Photoshop mock-​up of the room that showed exactly what the furniture would look like in the room, with new paint colors and all. Once we settled on final choices, she did all the ordering and connected us with a room painter. After we’d assembled all the furniture (this is time-​consuming, so it’s worth bearing in mind that it falls outside the scope of Visual Jill’s services), Lauren and Jill came over to re-​shelve the kids’ books, hang pictures, affix a very cool wall decal, and generally spiff the place up.
Altogether a great experience working with Visual Jill, and we would definitely hire them for future projects.

I first worked with Jill to help me transform a condo in preparation for a sale. In its original state, it was obvious that college students lived there. She helped pick out wall colors, light fixture, sofa cover, and bedding, as well as, thin out existing furniture and pictures. With her help, condo was transformed to a sophisticated understated modern home. It was literally like night and day! I’ve since used her for various homes ranging Downtown Oakland contemporary condos to beautiful traditional homes in Elmwood/​Claremont. Lastly, she’s helped put together finishing touches for my prior and current home. It’s amazing what pillows, paint colors, rugs, and paintings can do to tie in a place.

I hired Visual Jill to help with a small interior decorating job for my new condo. I worked primarily with Lauren, and she is fantastic. First, she is really easy to work with and very accommodating. She is warm, sweet and pleasant to be around. She was also willing to work within my budget and do as little or as much as I wanted, which I really appreciated. Second, she was very responsive to my likes and dislikes, even when they differed from hers. She listened to what I wanted, and then was very helpful in locating the items I wanted. It was just the right mix of her giving me ideas and steering me toward what would look good and letting me guide the process so that I would get a result I really liked and that felt like «me.»
One big plus is that the company passes on their full designer discount to the customer, so I felt like that practically paid for her services. The only downside with that is that most of the shopping was done at major retailers that offer the discounts as opposed to «off the beaten path,» but with my budget and time limitations, that made the most sense — if you have more time to spend and don’t care as much about the discount, they are definitely open to sourcing at different retailers, etc.
Overall, this was a great experience, and — most importantly — I’m very happy with the results. My place looks great, and the process was relatively painless (which is saying a lot from someone like me). Thanks Lauren and Jill!

Jill and her assistant Lauren were a pleasure to work with. I like to consider myself a design-​minded person, but when it comes to colors and styling… well I needed a little help. I stumbled across Jill’s blog one day and reached out to her for some help.
I recently purchased a loft near downtown San Jose. The space is really amazing (wood floors, views of downtown, exposed brick, etc.), but furnishing it was stressing me out. With an open floor plan it can be tricky to figure out what things to get and where everything should go. Jill and Lauren were up to the challenge. Communication between phone and email were great. Anytime I had a question or concern they were on it. I never once felt like there was any pushback.
The final layout looks absolutely awesome! The furniture, colors, accessories… PERFECT! They really took the time to get to know me so that they could translate that to my space. I’m still in the process of getting a few items on their list, but it’s already looking better than I could have imagined!
