Jay’s Small Moves

We contacted the business, and filed a complaint, they were really nice and helpful. After a couple of days, Jay called us back to resolve the situation, he sounded really appalled by the whole thing, so he offered a compensation for the damages.
I’m thankful that they did reach out to resolve the situation.

So I called a few weeks ago and spoke to Jay personally about my move. From Pittsburg Ca to San Leandro Ca, a one bedroom apartment. He quoted me $ 325. He also reminded me to call back about a week or two before and tell whoever answered the call that I already spoke to Jay and this is the price for this move. WELL I did that today. The person I spoke to quotes me over $ 1000… REALLY??? More than half of what I was quoted from the OWNER. I told him how ridiculous that price is and I hung up. Never again will I try to use them, his employees cleary do not care about good customer service or affordability.

I’m really happy with my experience today. My choice was between this company and another but Jay’s had more availability and I liked their phone etiquette. They were on time, friendly, professional but pricier than some other quotes I received. I believe the old adage, you get what you pay for definitely applied here. Overall I had only one issue with the move but once I called their office Jay himself called me back within minutes and I was very pleased with his flexibility, approach and willingness to listen. Customer service is key for me so I’d definitely book them again. However I’d make sure everything was taken apart or could fit through all the doorways to save time. I look forward to having them help me move in the future if needed.
Going the uhaul route was cool before I had a baby and thousands of stairs so save yourself the hassle and book these guys.

Professional, friendly and conscientious team of three movers. They worked fast and efficiently. They knew what they were doing and took every precaution not to damage anything.
Ricky, Pepe and Jose were great to handle our very large move. I would not hesitate to use the company again. This in fact was my second time using Jay’s Small Moves. I used them about a month ago to move furniture from my house to two separate locations in San Francisco. That move was also handled with care and efficiency.

Najee, Antonio and Michael did a great job on our move. They were prompt, careful and professional. They even managed to move some very heavy items into the back yard and up our narrow stairs. Thanks guys.

DO NOT pass by this moving company without calling them! We had a unique situation with moving our business offices and they handled it perfectly! We also had last minute issues we had to throw at them and they were professional through it all. They were attentive to all of our insurance needs and we appreciated their awesome customer service throughout, from beginning to end! I will use them personally the next time I need a mover and will definitely tell all of my friends. Darcey and Vince were prompt, friendly, helpful and professional. Thank you guys for everything!

We moved from San Francisco to the North Bay in a somewhat last minute fashion, and Jay’s was able to provide us with 2 movers within about a week of our move date when all others were booked up.
The guys showed up and got straight to work. They moved our boxes out to the truck, wrapped our furniture and hustled to get us out of our old place.
Upon arrival at the new spot they hustled to get everything unloaded and moved in. It was quite a long way from the truck to the unit, but they did a great job moving things efficiently, quickly, yet carefully.
They didn’t break anything or scratch any walls along the way and did a great job overall!
Would definitely use them again.

Fantastic! The three fellas showed up right on time (even a few minutes early!) and made quick work of our move. They took good care of all of our belongings, wrapped up fragile items, clearly knew what they were doing, very competent. I can’t recommend them highly enough! They were wonderful, thank you!

I had one of the best moving experiences with the team from Jay’s Small Moves. In the past, I had never needed the services of anyone except my family and myself to schlep all my belongings from one place to another. This time around, well, I had the wisdom to call upon professionals to take care of my move from a San Rafael studio apartment to an Oakland two-​bedroom home.
The biggest reason for the glowing review is this company accommodated my need for movers only a few days from my scheduled move-​in date! Other companies were booked or had undesirable rates. Jay’s Small Moves were luckily open the same weekend and willing to work with my schedule.
The second biggest reason? Quality customer care. From Jay who lowered the travel expense on the bill to the three stand-​up dudes who took care of my belongings (shout out to Carlos, Antonio, and Settemio!) bright and early (and ON TIME!) at 8:30am, everyone I interacted with was upbeat, friendly, and considerate.
Now, I’m already a organized person. I had everything boxed up, labeled, and prepared for the moving team to grab and go. Antonio totally said I spoiled his team with a quick and easy move, but these guys worked fast and diligently to get the job done.
I am going to highly recommend this company to anyone else looking to have a hardworking and communicative team help with their move.

They were great! The guys moved a bunch of boxes around to determine weight per box then one of the guys grabbed four of the boxes, walked to the truck and then literally ran back to get another load. They worked very hard to impress each other and therefore kept my cost down. I was very impressed in every way.

Clear phone communication and the team of three guys was kind and friendly, but seemed surprisingly nonchalant about preventing damage to items.
Placed a leather bench with the leather face down on street pavement, causing scratches. Tumbled a dolly of three medium boxes marked «FRAGILE» onto concrete floor, causing breakage. Bent a large folder of drawings clear down the middle by leaning stuff against it in a bin. While I can understand these mistakes, I was surprised that this didn’t seem to phase them at all.
The guys moved quickly at the beginning, during the four hour move, they really slowed down while I was busting my 50-​year-​old butt trying to move things along. They were good guys, and had a good attitude about their work, but I thought their performance was lackluster.

Great customer service — I really appreciated their follow up and resolution to my «less than satisfied» experience. I’d definitely give them another chance based on my post-​move discussion with the owner and how well my first two moves had gone with Jay’s.

It went super.
A crew of three guys (Enrico, Mico, and Anthony) and a moving truck showed up at 8:30am with closet boxes, plastic wrap, and moving blankets. They moved all our furniture and 25 ZippGo boxes, plus several large plants that were too heavy for me to lift.
Nothing was damaged or lost. They protected all our furniture and my TV with moving blankets that were wrapped by plastic. They took care to ensure items were not going to be damaged and did so efficiently, so it was an all day affair to wrap up one item.
The guys were fun and friendly and made the whole experience better, as this is definitely something I dread doing.
Would hire again, no hesitation.

Our family has used Jay’s for a number of small moves over the years. They’re performance has always been excellent. They are always on time, are careful with our possessions, no losses, great attitudes, very hard work and the price is always as anticipated. We recently moved our family home to a city about 30 miles way. Jay’s did a fantastic job on what was a very large move. They sent a big truck and a 3-​man team (Najee, Carlos and Antonio!). We were thrilled at the speed and professionalism shown. We are in our new home and loving it much to the very hard work of this fine team. What more can I say. I would absolutely recommend them in any situation.

Yet another great experience with Jay’s Small Moves! I called at the last minute after a lay-​off and my immediate needs were met professionally on ³⁄₁₉. My unforeseen office move was seamless and the movers were wonderful!!! For all of my future Bay Area moves, my go-​to is Jay’s!!!

Looking for a moving outfit that wouldn’t break my humble blue collar budget, but not wanting to get an iffy company, I looked on Unilocal for suggestions, and found Jay’s. What professionalism & friendliness! I had to move 30 boxes, paintings, a few furniture items, and some what-​nots. They packed it in the truck very efficiently and quickly.

Thank you so much to the awesome guys that helped me – Riccardo, Najee and Eli! They arrived on time, they were easy to talk to, they were very careful in carrying and strapping down everything. These people have been trained really well, truly professional!
My move was painless and easy!

We used Jay’s to move from SF to Alameda. The quote process was straight forward and accurate. One move day, Fidel and his crew were great and worked hard all day. The packed up everything and made sure it was secure. At the other end of the move, they made sure everything ended up where it belonged. Overall, we had a great experience.

I was only moving a couple of miles and needed movers for my furniture and other large items. the reviews of Jay’s Small Moves looked pretty good, so I gave them a shot. Their only opening was on the very last day I had to move, so I really hoped I’d made a good choice. Every mover on Unilocal has at least one horror story about movers not showing. I did not need to be one of those — especially the weekend before Thanksgiving.
I did not need to worry. Enrico and Arthur arrived in the time window I was given and called me 45 minutes ahead of time to give me an ETA. Both of them were friendly, professional and on task. And they surprised me by being right on the two-​hour minimum time I was told I’d be charged by Sean in my original call.
In short, I couldn’t be happier. I will definitely use Jay’s in the future and I’ll be recommending them highly to anyone who needs movers.

I’ve been hauling ass and moving tail… and god dang tired… which means all these hired hands should be passed out on the floor. Good work My friends at Jay’s small moves.
Setup: I had some lovely furniture at a residence that I thought would look great in an office (it does). The only question was how to get it from point A down to the financial district. Easy answer call Jay’s small moves.
On time yesterday at the given time window. Two friendly guys showed up and packed everything very carefully. Three couches, two tables, art, desk, 4 chairs… and the William Shatner star trek command chair.
The fly in the ointment was a very large couch and a very large and lovely oak desk to move. These guys figured out how to get the desk out of the house and into the office no problem. The problem was with the 9 foot couch… it would not fit into the elevators… these guys without hesitation or complaint took it up the stairs… eight friggin flights. Everything arrived undamaged and in great shape.
They charge by the hour so keep this in mind.
Overall I was very happy and would, without hesitation, suggest these guys.
