Mark’s attentiveness and responsiveness was superb. He actually went to my wedding venue (without my having to ask) to get an idea of the space before having a detailed conversation with me about my lighting ideas. Awesome customer service to say the least.
I contacted several other event lighting companies, but D’Angelo Lighting was the most responsive and professional.
Although we weren’t able to work together for my upcoming wedding, I will definitely contact him for any future events.

Mark asked detailed questions to try to understand what our goals and expectations were for our event (a wedding). He was familiar with the venue (Outdoor Art Club) and used that knowledge to make suggestions.
Mark was professional and pleasant in all our interactions. Yes, he is very busy and may sometimes be unresponsive while working a job out of town, but you have to expect that from someone who runs his own business. Just be persistent and you won’t be disappointed.

Mark and his team did the lighting for our wedding yesterday, and it was amazing!!! It came out way better than I had imagined! They made the venue look absolutely stunning! I contacted Mark in January for our wedding in Sept, thinking it was plenty of time to book a lighting company. After a couple emails back and forth we were ready to put down a deposit and we got hit with an «out of town» email and have not been able to reach him since. We were shocked given the great reviews he’s been given but due to the continued lack of response, we went with another vendor.

Mark did a terrific job of transforming my house into a gorgeous party space for my birthday. From the café lights to the LED up lights to the patterned gobo light, everything was perfect. I definitely recommend Mark to design and set up lights for your next event — I know I’ll be hiring him again.

Mark and his company are outstanding. My bride and I can not say enough good things about this company. We would highly recommend them. Their service, products and thoroughness are unbelievable. We were looking for string café lights with orange lanterns for our wedding reception and after consulting several competitors we came across mark and his company. He was through and reasonably priced helping with our budget to keep costs much lower than the other competitors. He gave us everything that we needed and more. He is detailed and when we called on the day of the wedding during the reception to get an additional hour use of the lights he was more than accommodating. The lighting was unbelievable and made the room. We can’t say enough!!! Excellent company and owner.

Mark is amazing. I’ll break it down for you:
–He was positive from start to finish. I heard this from students and parents at the show that he teched. SO great to have his great energy involved with the show.
–He knows his stuff. He did a great job lighting the whole thing with great expertise and even some background for an non theater person like me.
–He worked hard. He did what needed to get done in the time allotted.
–He was open to changes at the last minute as often happens with a student show. This flexibility is greatly appreciated.

Mark is professional, responsive, and great at what he does! He provided beautiful lighting for my outdoor wedding reception. The lights were classy and they really complemented the beauty of our venue. He was a pleasure to deal with, always quick to respond to emails and very detailed in his consultation (he even did a site visit prior to drafting up a proposal for me, and this was all before I even booked him). Highly recommend! My only regret is that I didn’t get to meet him in person to thank him on my wedding day!

Part of me wishes that I did more events so I could work with Mark again. He did the lighting for our wedding in May at CuriOdyssey in San Mateo. The space we rented was once used to house exhibits and so is filled with mostly fluorescent (read: cafeteria) lighting. I thought it was a lost cause until we met up with Mark to look at the space.
He immediately put my husband and I at ease as we walked through the space and talked about our options. As others have mentioned, he drew up designs quickly and was really creative and flexible about scaling to meet our budget without sacrificing the overall effect. In the end, he helped us cut our reliance on the house lights and brought in enough lighting to create exactly the ambiance that we wanted.

Mark did the lighting for my wedding in Berkeley just this last August (2013). He was absolutely fantastic. He and I have actually been friends since college, and he always struck me as a brilliant, creative and professional person, all of which was demonstrated in his work for us on our wedding day.
He was diligent in his communication with me leading up to the wedding, and was very explicit in his explanation of his vision for the spaces that we used. All of our guests later told me that the lighting set the mood for the space, and everyone was impressed. In particular, the ballroom was transformed and had a completely different character. It changed with the mood of the evening, from dinner to dancing with a live Cuban band. The colors were vibrant but not overstated, and he highlighted all of the beautiful architectural elements within the space seamlessly.
Mark was great to work with and really flexible working with the space and the budget — offering various alternatives at different price points to ensure we would get an attractive space regardless of the amount. I highly recommend him!

Mark was a delight to work with for my daughter’s wedding. HIs lighting for the Berkeley City Club really brought out the best of the Julia Morgan design for everyone to admire. He was easy, fun and professional to work with and his rates were quite reasonable. I highly recommend him to all.

Mark did a fantastic job lighting our recent wedding at the Golden Gate Club. I contacted Mark after speaking to some of the well-​known San Francisco lighting companies. Mark’s lighting proposal was not only more competitive than those other companies, but it was also apparent that he offered a superior level of customer service. In my opinion, Mark’s lighting work is also much more elegant and artistic than the photos we saw from the larger companies. We were thrilled with the final product and our guests were very impressed.
The Golden Gate Club has beautiful views, but also some large bare walls that were in need of a little decoration. We didn’t have a lot of money to spend on elaborate or expensive decorations, so we decided to rely on up-​lighting and lighting designs (or «gobos,» as I’ve learned) on the back wall and ceiling. We were shocked, however, to receive lighting proposals ranging as high as $ 3000 or $ 4000 for the basic packages.
Mark and I had several email exchanges and telephone calls, during which he took the time to really inquire and understand what we were looking for, and also clearly explain what he could provide. Mark immediately put together a design proposal, complete with photos from past events and a floor plan of our venue showing the types of lights he would use and where he would set them up. His proposal was tailored to the unique features of the room and the gobos were specifically selected to compliment the setting of the venue. Mark was willing to work within our budget and explained the costs of each element in his proposal so we could decide what we wanted to add or take away. I really appreciated Mark’s recommendations regarding elements we might consider eliminating to reduce the overall cost, without significantly compromising the effect. Throughout the process, Mark was honest, very professional, and always quick to respond to an email or phone call.
Most importantly, when fully lit, the venue looked incredible!
After our wedding, Mark emailed to solicit some feedback from us. He specifically asked for any criticism we had that might help him improve his services. I wish we had something helpful to give him, but we honestly don’t have a single critique of his work or his service. Mark did an amazing job. It’s clear he really enjoys what he does, and working with him was an absolute pleasure. I highly recommend him and wouldn’t hesitate to call on him again for any lighting needs.

I hired Mark for our wedding on November 3, 2012. He was very pleasant and extremely easy to work with. He also lugged all of his equipment out to the venue prior to the wedding to show me what the space would look like the day of my wedding. I honestly can’t even describe how amazing all of our venue spaces looked. I had so many people come up to me and say that the lighting made the space. I’m so pleased with how everything turned out. Mark was willing to work within my budget to make everything happen.

I contacted Mark for our wedding in September at the Golden Gate Club in SF. One brief intro email later, he was already drawing the lighting layout on a floorplan so I could see what he was envisioning. We booked him shortly after meeting with him in person.
In the end, the lighting looked really great. We went with gobos on the ceiling, uplights along the walls, and market string lights on the dancefloor. Also, you absolutely cannot beat the price. His work was about _​half_​of what others were quoting us.
The reason we booked him was not only for the great value on the cost, but found that the great value came with professionalism, a lot of knowledge and passion, and helpful and responsiveness. Thanks Mark!
