Recently closed due to health violation including evidence of mice or live mice present in food areas. No hand washing facility near food preparation. Facility not vermin proof. Conditions conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/​or allowing vermin to exist.
It was on the tip of your tongue. You just couldn’t figure out that tangy crunch in your cupcake.

Very disappointed. I love this bakery but I need it a cake for my son’s birthday for September 15. So I came a month early and guess what they can’t make a Fonda cake because they were already booked. They only have 2 chefs in board. Please are you serious. Very mad!!!

The reason I didn’t actually ever go to this place was because of the gigantic fake wedding cakes they have in the window. They look stupid, I know, but the stuff they have in there is f-​in delicious. And cheap. But mostly delicious. Ricotta tart is delicious.

Super cheap.
I’ll sum it up in two words: cannoli cake. WTF SO GOOD!

I attempted to order a cake from them for my son’s birthday party and they quoted me a price close to $ 200 for a simple cake, no frills, and then they told me they would start making it almost a week early. No thanks!!! For the same price (which is, in my opinion too expensive for a kid’s birthday cake) other, better bakeries in the area, are worth a try. Even Betty’s Bakery and Ladybird are less expensive and are much MUCH much better!!! (Another cake I brought in from them for a dinner party was average and bland and the frosting tasted like chocolate lead.) Sorry to say, but this place is a disappointment.

Super cheap for great taste! Took a friend visiting from out of town when all other dessert places in the area were closed. Got a cannoli, strawberry shortcake, and vanilla cupcake– all delicious!

Hey, maybe I’m too accustomed to corporate prices, but I really thought that this place was well priced! I stopped in with my friend and we got a cornetti, a slice of some blueberry crème cake, two cookies, a large coffee, and a large tea for just twelve dollars. At my favorite bakery in POUGHKEEPSIE that would have easily been eighteen bucks.
Coffee was top-​notch. Some of the other reviews said that the coffee was burnt. I really thought it was swell– velvety, smooth, just perfect.
The pastries were all very good. I was a huge fan of the cornetti, but I couldn’t even finish it because it was so large (and so sweet). Next time I am going to go for something like the pistachio biscotti (I have been on a pistachio kick lately) or just the plain butter croissant.
They also had a wide assortment of gelato. If the weather were more springlike, I would have gone for this. But good to know, right?!
Anyway, come here for coffee as you’re on your way to the F/​G train. The coffee didn’t take long for them to serve me, BTW. One thing I was bummed about, though, is that they closed at 9:00 PM and they were strict about it. When we got our stuff at 8:58, they told us that we couldn’t sit. Sadness! (So thank you to the person on 9^th Street for donating your brownstone’s bottom step to Chelsea and me.)
A good option for the area though. I can’t attest to their cupcakes. But definitely a good choice for a coffee/​cookie/​pastry combo.

I got my daughter’s 6^th birthday cake from them this January and I strongly regret it!
I payed to have an image printed on the cake which I thought it would be nicely centered and proportional to the cake. They printed the image very small and off center… and it looked sad and tasteless… I ordered a chocolate truffle cake that was supposed to have orange and rum flavor… I could barely cut the cake because it became an ugly mush… more like ice cream cake than regular cake. The layers of cream were so thick it barely had actual cake, therefore the cake was collapsing. The taste of the cake was horrible and I was so glad that this was a childrens-​only party because I would have being very embarrassed if other adult would have seen and tasted this cake. my husband and I could barely have a spoonful and ended up throwing more than half the cake in the trash!
In other words, this place has no aesthetic skills, nor tasty cakes and I will NEVER go back there.

I almost didn’t review this bakery out of pity, as I had hoped that they would improve after our first trip over the summer, but this is really a terrible bakery. Everything has a nice look about it, but blech — the pastries were downright icky. Add to that the egregious $ 1.80 they charge for one SMALL, hard, dry chocolate cookie, and they get the review they deserve. Look elsewhere if you’d like a sweet treat in Park Slope. This place is not worth the money or the calories.

Stopped by recently when they were better prepared and stocked. I decided to try their back to school breakfast special, which was a small coffee and pastry for $ 2.99.
The coffee was pretty average. The pastries were your typical variety: croissants, Danishes, and muffins. I ended up with a Danish, which was assured by the employees that it was baked fresh that morning. Not bad, either.
Overall, nothing was really «wow» or extraordinary, but if you want something simple for breakfast (or dessert), La Dolce is a decent place to visit.

La Dolce just did a birthday cake for my daughter’s birthday party and it was exquisite.
I had very high expectations as I usually go somewhere else that is top-​notch, but my usual place gave me a very high quote for what I wanted (a Wonder Woman rendition in full primary colors) so I figured I’d check out this new place. They were extremely attentive, accommodating, and responsive. They were professional, friendly and helpful. They sat down with me and listened to what I wanted and worked with me. AND they gave me an excellent price. I was nervous to go with them over my tried and true place, but for the price they quoted me I decided to take the risk. The owner/​manager was clearly enthusiastic about the art part — their cake decorator is apparently an artist as well. I eventually felt confident the cake would look good, but HOW would it taste? I had no idea and I hadn’t even sampled their food!
Well the cake looked perfect. A real WOW. Everyone was impressed. My daughter was in heaven. But the taste — the taste was a wow wow WOW! REALLY GOOD. We had their chocolate mud cake that tasted like a fudgie brownie cake and strawberry filling that really held its own. The cake disappeared to the oohs and aahs of kids and grown-​ups alike, and there was hardly any left.
I will definitely use them again next year!

I’m not sure what to make of this place. There used to be a cheap accessory store here and it was sold to this bakery. Now they make italian baked goods like cannolis and also sell cakes. They never seem to be low on pastries nor fully stocked.
The giant paper cakes in the window didn’t give you a clue? Well their cakes are not half bad. This month they featured a chocolate truffle which was pretty decent and much more cost effective than buying one elsewhere. The problem is when you expect a chocolate truffle cake and end up with random raisins in your mouth you are a bit perplexed.
Its a nice place to get a quick and simple coffee during business hours.

I’ve been back a couple of times because I really want this place to be good. I had the fruit tart which was awful. It had a strange and unappetizing crust, but the filling wasn’t bad. I have also tried an assortment of their cookies. They were all too dry and lacked any real flavor. The best cookie is the almond one, but that only wins by comparison.
Best advice, walk a little further to Almondine by the 7^th Ave F/​G stop.

I went to this shop on Saturday. It’s new to the area and I work near by. Everything looks great and delicious. I bought a small strawberry shortcake and 3 sample pieces of cake. The samples were chocolate mud, ricotta cheese cake, and tiramisu. Maybe the sample slices were old and that maybe the case. The ricotta cheese cake was horrible and dried out and hard. The chocolate mudd cake was just ok. The tiramisu was just very average. The strawberry shortcake was just average also. They used very little strawberry preserves Inside. I have eaten so many better shortcakes before. I have eaten at so many bakeries in NYC before. Also I bake a lot of my own pastries so I know what things are suppose to taste like. I hope they turn it around. Try marthas kitchen in forest hill queens.

I went in a couple of days ago to give them a try since they’re just up the block. I honestly wasn’t expecting much, so I decided to go with an iced coffee, croissant, and almond cookie. I was there early enough that baked goods were just coming out of the oven, and boy am I glad I was there!
The croissant had a great crisp on the outside but was buttery and chewy on the inside. It was absolutely delicious. I thought the almond cookie would be one of those dry but almondy tasting cookies you get at continental breakfasts or receptions, but it ended up also having that great moisture and chewiness that my favorite chocolate chip cookies usually have. I’m now addicted to their almond cookies. They’re a bit on the expensive side, but a must try!
Just as I had purchased it, another worker had brought out fresh baked cheese danishes. They looked and smelled amazing as well. It took all of my will-​power to walk out without purchasing one, but I didn’t want to go too crazy on my first visit. So naturally, I sent my husband out this morning to grab a couple of things and requested the cheese danish and more almond cookies!
The coffee was fresh brewed when I had it the first time and did the job. The regular prices seemed a little high, but the special promotion made it a good buy.
Overall, pretty pleased to have this place up the block. The people who work there are very friendly and seem eager to make the place a success. They have cannolli, tarts, cakes, and other goods that I’m probably going to try very soon as well. I wish them the best of luck and hope they never stop making almond cookies!

Being a coffee addict, my husband has been up and down all of Park Slope attempting to find a REAL cup of coffee. Raved about, well known, hole in the wall, street vendor –he has tried them all. But none really understood how to make good coffee, so his search continued.
One day he stopped in this bakery with the crazy towering cake window display and WOW! best coffee he’s had in years. Real coffee, with real cream and sugar. Brewed strong, not burnt. Quality. We’ve gone by 4 times now and the quality is consistent.
Yes, it costs more than a dollar, usual price is just shy of $ 4 for a mug but right now they offer a special for 1.80. We would even pay the full price, cheaper than most corporate coffee places and a world better!
They also offer a small selection of pastries that are quite tasty and homemade. Flaky dough and tangy-​lightly sweet cream cheese for the cheese danish, while the muffin was moist and large. Prices were expensive considering what you get, but on par with most coffee joints.
Besides cakes to order, they also offer cakes by the slice or small/​large sizes ready made. Fresh banana crème cake looked fantastic!
The young woman behind the counter also let us know that they now will be serving fresh tossed salads and sandwiches to order, curious to see the quality and pricing for those.
In the meantime, stop by and support these gals who offer a delicious cup of coffee, scrumptious desserts and a nice smile. Hopefully they last long enough that we will get to see the full extent of their patisserie talent!
*Be aware that if you are stopping by on the way to work, it will take more than a minute to pop in and grab a coffee, closer to 5 min. but well worth the wait!
