I got Thai fried rice and coconut rice for takeout, which I was disappointed in both. The Thai fried rice was not enjoyable everything was heavily seasoned with what I believed was some sort of pepper. Basically all I tasted was pepper, nothing else. The coconut rice didn’t even taste nor smell like coconut rice.

I love this place! The food is authentic, the«early bird» dinner & lunch specials are a great deal, and the owner is wonderfully sweet. When I lived right next door, I referred to Boyd Thai as my second kitchen. I moved away years ago – first out of state and then to Brooklyn – but still always look forward to any chance to enjoy my old standby. I make a point to stop in whenever I’m in the neighborhood for some great thai comfort food and to say hello to Boyd himself.

This restaurant looks run down, down to the butcher paper and marker posters they have hanging on the walls advertising their specials. Don’t let the appearance fool you though, this place is great! My friend and I wandered in here one night and decided to give it a shot. After being seated, we realized we love the ambiance. It’s a great place to chill and catch up. The drinks and food are good and pretty cheap.

I work in Nolita and this weekend I had to work, which I usually do not. I primarily order through seamless because I can’t really leave for lunch. I had a feeling for Thai that day and came across this restaurant’s menu through filtering cuisine type. I like that they had a lunch special menu even on the weekends. Lunch special said it came with salad so I chose peanut dressing over the chili lime one. I liked the dressing once I ate the salad. But also surprisingly the salad box also contained a spring roll which I was not expecting– so a major plus there. I ordered the Massam curry– hope that’s how you spell it. It was good! The presentation wasn’t exactly appealing but how can you if its liquid curry? The taste tasted authentic in a Chinese take out box feel– that’s the best way I can describe it. The only thing I wished about the curry order was that there would be a bit more rice to curry ratio. I also got the Thai iced tea and it came with a straw. It was refreshing. Overall with delivery tip, I spend about 13.50. Which isn’t bad cause you get a lot of food and probably won’t finish it. I highly recommend ordering with them. ** I’ve never been to the restaurant so I can’t review that. Thanks!

The Mahi Mahi burger was great. The space and seating felt good. No complaints about service and the price was reasonable. All that I want.

Not my first time here! It’s not the most amazing thai food I’ve had, but it’s pretty decent. Additionally, the food is served extremely quickly. I will advise that you stay away from the $ 4 draft beer as it tastes mostly of water, but the thai iced coffee is not too bad. A bit too sweet for my taste. The curry puffs we got as appetizers were tiny and cute, while also being extremely delicious. The sauce that came along with it was also very tasty and refreshing. I got #5 on the noodle menu($ 9) on their dinner menu and I can’t say it was anything that would make me stop in my tracks, but again, it came out quickly and was decent. Additionally, their portions are HUGE. Not too shabby of a place to stop by if you’re looking for a filling, quick meal. The service is also very friendly, although I did feel like I had to wave and make myself known when I wanted service. Also, watch out for the hot sauce, it’s SPICY!

Came here mainly because I just moved to the area and have yet to find my favorite Thai place in the new neighborhood. The place is usually uncrowded, and they have an open space that’s suitable for the warm weather. Interior decoration is mediocre at best so it’s definitely not for people looking for a fancy place. The cushioned seats had terrible rips so we decided to sit on the metal chairs. My boyfriend got the beef pad Thai, which was flavored well but very, very small. I ordered the veggie duck green curry, which, even though I told their server to make it «mildly spicy,» still came out ridiculously spicy and burned my mouth. I even choked once since it was so spicy and had more than three glasses of water throughout the meal. For the price, the food wasn’t horrendous, but there are far better Thai places in the city. Service was average– the server wasn’t rude, but she wasn’t friendly either. Although the restaurant is near where I live, I will probably not be coming back again. It’s a pity because they apparently have nice bottomless drink options– which I found handwritten on paper posters plastered on the otherwise bare walls.

Disappointing food in good neighborhood location. I ordered from the lunch special and while it was nice to munch the little spring roll appetizer in the cute, cozy restaurant after a morning long meeting, it would have been even nicer to get a salad with a thai dressing rather than thousand island. Yuk.

Pineapple curry(tofu) with salad and spring roll came to $ 1.97 after 20% off first order and another promo I had. Salad dressing seemed more like a bottled thousand island/russian with a kick than your standard asian takeout salad dressing, but the meal was enjoyable overall.

I’m so disappointed with the staff at this restaurant. I was there just yesterday with my boyfriend. We were going over the menu and decided to try their«specials» that they write down for you on paper. My boyfriend got the grilled shrimp and I got the tilapia. The server that was taking care of us had an attitude for some reason and we felt a bit rushed up until we got our entrees, then she disappeared. My boyfriend’s shrimp was amazing and my tilapia could not be anymore disgusting and he vouched for me to make sure I wasn’t going crazy! The server never came back and I was hungry so I asked if I could have the grilled shrimp instead because I couldn’t eat the tilapia. A slight attitude from another server with the buzz-cut but she took it back anyway. I then got my shrimp and I was happy. Wait, there’s more! After about 15 minutes of trying to finish my food we asked for the check and if my food could be wrapped to go. I take it home and heat it up the next day and found so far 4 long ass strands of brown hair in my food. Not sure if that was placed there on purpose on but just so know never complain about the food at Boyd Thai…

This little Thai restaurant in the heart of the Greenwich Village is no gem. More like a river stone — a really dull river stone at the bottom of a river. But not like NYC Hudson River, more like Hudson Valley Hudson River. Boyd Thai’s less than decent thai food is only redeemed by their amiable waitresses. We came in for their lunch specials one afternoon. Granted that they do offer pretty reasonable prices for their lunch specials, the quality of their food undoubtedly correlated with the prices. We ordered a pad thai special and pad see ew special with a thai ice tea. The pad thai and pad see ew were both massively disappointing. The noodles were uncomfortably soggy and the flavors were underwhelming. The pad thai in particular was noticeably sour — before we squeezed any limon on it ourselves. I personally prefer less sour on my pad thai and their pre-serving limon-ing(or whatever it may be) ruined it for me. The thai ice tea was disproportionate with its condensed milk. The drink was way too sweet and unenjoyable. Overall, it wasn’t quite the worse experience. The atmosphere was pleasant and the throwback 90s pop songs could have been worse. The food was mediocre at best but. like their selection of music, could have been worse. I do not intend on coming back, nor would I recommend this place to any of my friends.

$ 12 decent pad see ew, a dumpling, and salad – not terrible. This is your typical I’m feeling like some type of asian food and not trying to spend a ton meal.

I used to go to Nyu and this was my go-to Thai place. But over the course of 2 years the service and the food have gone downhill. I don’t usually leave reviews here but there are stuff all of you out there should know. A) the staff is RUDE. Period. If u try to leave them minimum tip, they probably will yell at you. One time this waiter literally THREW us back the tip as we were leaving saying he doesn’t want it if it’s this little. B) when they bring the bill, they already charge you for the tip, and after u gave them your card or cash, it will say PRE-tip amount on the bill BUT the amount was actually post tip. I uploaded two photos here. to prove this. C) food was ok. Half of the time when I told them I want it less spicy, they simply just ignore it and I ended up ordering three ice teas. Don’t go there.

Came here for a quick weekday lunch with my two bosses. I had the spicy fried rice with chicken. I can’t really compare it to any other Thai places, because I don’t eat it often. When I do, though, I always get the spicy fried rice. It was delicious here. I asked for it to be very spicy, and it wasn’t, but that’s not a Huge deal. They may have done me a favor, as it was 90+ degrees on that day! The dish was on their lunch specials so it came with a house salad and spring roll, both if which were delicious. The prices were fair and the service was timely, though the restaurant wasn’t packed. I’ll be returning.

I came here for dinner recently with my boyfriend, as we were in the area. I have fond memories of coming here while I was at NYU, and from what I remember, the food was good. We were early enough that we managed to partake in the Early Bird Special(comes with a house salad, 2 mini dumplings, and a summer rolls, plus a choice of main). I opted for the Pad Thai(my usual go-to Thai dish), and my boyfriend had the Pad See Ew. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived, there were only a few tables occupied, and has an open air style seating by the windows. The food came out relatively quickly, and the appetizers were decent. The house salad came with a spicy thousand island style dressing, but I enjoyed dipping the summer roll into the peanut sauce.(Yum, love peanut sauce). Our noodle dishes were also quite good, as in I would definitely come back here again for Thai food. The portion size seemed to be on the bigger side, as I had opted to save half for lunch. The price was only $ 12 for the early bird special, and they do have some drink specials. The service was good, but it wasn’t busy at all, so they were more attentive. They don’t accept AMEX.

We ordered a dinner from here, and to be quite honest, I have thrown up 2 times since receiving my order. Upon opening the delivery box, there was a living ROACH in with the food. I simply do not have words for this establishment, except that they need to clean their kitchen and not serve such disgusting product to their customers. The woman on the phone was more than rude, and did not seem to care about the problem. She offered to send us more food, which we quickly denied. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone.

Most Thai restaurants in NYC have a reputation for having awesome lunch specials, so it is a nice change to see a restaurant also offering a dinner special. Boyd Thai’s «early bird» special is from 4pm — 7pm. For $ 12, you get an appetizer plate with a summer roll, house salad and dumplings! The dressing on the salad is so tasty. The peanut sauce for the summer roll is out of this world. I didn’t use all of it but I still ended up eating it with a spoon. Sometimes, you do what you need to do. No judgment here. For my entrée, I got the pineapple curry with chicken. The curry is very similar to a red curry but with pineapples. I ordered it mild since I was warned this place can make food very spicy! It was delicious. I had to get it to go because I was running late for class. Trust that it was delicious and I enjoyed every bite! If you’re in between classes at NYU and looking for a tasty lunch($ 8 special!) or dinner, give this Thai joint a try! It has semi-open air seating, so it is great to enjoy as the weather improves.

The food isn’t the best Thai that I have ever had but it’s pretty good. We had the Calamari, Coconut Shrimp Salad and the Chicken Satay. The Coconut Shrimp was delicious and the salad was very light. We were given a table by the window, which meant a very nice breeze from the outside. The Boyfriend said it gave off a very real Thailand feel since most restaurants in Thailand didn’t have AC and opened their windows to catch the breeze. The best part of Boyd Thai is their drink specials! You can get half a carafe of Mango Rum Punch or Sangria for only $ 7 — this makes for 2 drinks. They also do $ 5 drinks all day long. On Sundays to Thursdays, they offer unlimited drinks for just $ 10 a person with entrée order. Score! The Mango Rum Punch was delicious and definitely packed a punch.
