1801 First Inn

First time at a B&B and won’t be the last at 1801! My husband and I just got home from our anniversary/​his birthday trip and we just loved it! Breakfast was delicious, Carrie and the staff were great people, and the wine hour was awesome! We were able to meet the guests staying there as well, and it was so cool to chat with people from all over the world. We stayed in suite 2 in the main house and it was beautiful. All of our dinners were about a 10 minute walk which was perfect to explore downtown Napa. I would love to make 1801 an annual trip, we loved it so much!

We stayed at this beautiful B&B from June 2 – 5 in the Superior Suite upstairs. The Inn is perfectly located within easy walking distance of all the great restaurants you could possibly want. From the minute we got there, we were warmly welcomed with a glass of wine by Blair. He explained to us about our accommodations and restaurants around the area. We met Felice the next morning who was wonderfully funny and very knowledgeable. The sweetest was the owner, Carrie! She also knew everything and took the time to sit with us and talk to us about our days and our plans. Each of the staff members were knowledgeable about the wineries and would be more than happy to make reservations for you. We loved the backyard garden. It was a treat for us when they set out wine and cheeses at «happy hour». While you were there, you felt like family! We will definitely come back! Maybe for our one-​year anniversary! :)

I decided to take my wife on a fairly last minute trip to Napa. I spent a lot of time researching the best places to stay and dine. I had never stayed at a B&B and while searching I told my wife a B&B wasn’t my thing. There were so many great reviews on Unilocal that I looked twice because I wanted a memorable experience. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and were greeted with a smile and two glasses of wine. I had called a few hours ahead to see if it was still possible to have flowers and champagne in the room and right when we walked in the room a beautiful flower arrangement was there with the champagne. The room we had was great and very spacious. The linens were something that caught my eye and they were exactly what I could have hoped for and the large tub and separate shower was great. The location is right near downtown so we were a few minute drive or cab ride or 15 minute walk from the downtown restaurants. The first night we attendeded the wine hour which was great and met some nice people. The breakfasts each morning were really good and the set up was comfortable and spacious. Everyone at the property was top notch and pleasant. We plan on staying again in the near future and recommending it to all friends and family. Kudos to the team at 1801 First Inn.

By far one of the best B&B stays I’ve ever experienced. Starting with the location, within walking distance from all the bars and restaurants in downtown Napa. Upon arrival, we were instantly greeted warmly by Carrie the owner with a beautiful smile and 2 glasses of wine for my husband and I. We sat and chatted and instantly felt right at home. She took the time to understand our preferences and made great restaurant and winery suggestions accordingly. Even offered to make some reservations for us herself. One of the restaurants we dined in that night upon her recommendation, ZuZu, was spectacular! Probably the best dining experience on that trip.
The room was gorgeous, homey and quaint. I couldn’t be happier. We arrived on a Friday and were treated that evening to our own complimentary tasting and appetizers prepared by their wonderful chef. (Available every Friday) This was a great sneak preview of the superb quality of food that comes out of their kitchen. The setting was beautiful as well. Couldn’t have planned for a better beginning to our trip.
We were provided with a brochure to mark the options for breakfast which is included. What a delight. Gourmet meals with herbs from their garden, fresh fruit, homemade pastries, fresh juice and coffee.
Everyday at 5:30 Carrie hosts a lovely happy hour with music, unlimited wine and charcuterie/​cheeses at the courtyard spot where we had the tasting. A great way to socialize with the other guests and the owners.
On our last day we had to get a really early start and sadly had to skip out on their awesome breakfast. I was sitting in the car waiting for my husband to drop off the keys and starving. Only to find him coming out of their kitchen with our own individually packed breakfasts they prepared just for us! Organic yoghurt, cookies, eggs and all the goodies. I couldn’t believe how sweet they are. They really go over and beyond for their guests to make their trips absolutely perfect. Thanks to Carrie and Blair, my birthday weekend and 1^st time to Napa was simply amazing. Do not miss out on that wonderful experience!

This is the best inn experience I have ever had! The inn itself is immaculate and the ambiance is amazing! The owners are absolutely awesome! So helpful and fun. The chef is brilliant. If you’re planning on visiting Napa, do yourself a favor and book here… you won’t be disappointed.

I’m not a huge B&B fan but this place is awesome! The breakfasts alone are worth the price of admission. The wine hour (or more) doesn’t disappoint and the occasional wine maker that shows up can be fun and educational. It’s also an easy walk to the Napa restaurants after a hard day of tastings. Everyone affiliated with the place is very helpful and offer recommendations that are worth paying attention to. All in all it was great and I’ll go far out of my way to come back.

My husband and I with 12 of our closest friends spent a very memorable weekend in Napa celebrating my BD. The property is gorgeous. All rooms are beautiful and nicely appointed. The owners and staff are gracious and very helpful. The breakfast was superb and the wine hour was amazing. Homemade cookies all day long were definitely enjoyed. The downtown Napa location is ideal to enjoy all the restaurants and Oxbow Market. Perfection!

We had a fabulous time with my hubby to celebrate our anniversary! Wonderful staff with a beautiful suite. We have truly enjoyed our time at Napa and relaxing at this bed and breakfast. The breakfast was outstanding and we loved the daily wine hour! Located in the heart of downtown, you are in walking distance to great restaurants, shops, and wine tasting rooms! We’ll be back again.

Adorable b&b! Very cozy, quiet and relaxing. It’s clean and the service was amazing. Very informative staff. Breakfast was delicious and the cookies were a nice treat!

I saw a review on TripAdvisor titled «Best B&B Ever» and thought, «yep, that about sums it up!» Book at 1801 First and you will not be disappointed. From the moment we made our reservation, the staff began to help us piece together other parts of our trip. They spent a lot of time recommending restaurant, vineyard and transportation options to us since we didn’t know the area at all. The inn is walking distance to everything downtown and a very short drive (less than 2 miles) to a nice grocery so it’s super convenient. The owners host a lovely wine & cheese/​apps hour outside on their patio every evening. There are rose bushes and fruit trees on the grounds which make it so pretty. Our room was upstairs… very quiet and comfortable. The room had a fireplace, king bed, huge tub, large shower, soft robes and nice linens. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of a real door on the bathroom. (It was a slatted folding door.) There were handmade truffles waiting for us at check in, as well as an endless supply of coffee, tea, pastries and port downstairs. The breakfasts were AMAZING! First they give you fresh fruit and a muffin, scone or croissant, and then the entrée of your choice. By the end of our stay, we felt like a part of their family and were sad to go.

Stayed for a week in the carriage house a few years ago. We absolutely loved our little house and the service provided. A real gem!

My mother and I stayed at the First Luxury Inn for three nights in March. I live in Napa and always drive passed by this inn. We got a discounted rate posted online. We booked the garden room but when we got there, the owner, Blaire, showed us all the rooms available and let us choose. All the rooms were amazingly nice and clean. The smell was wonderful too :) The beds were very comfortable. They gave you free unlimited soft drinks in the refrigerator. They let us choose our own breakfast that was wonderfully prepared by a private chef every morning (better than some of the restaurants in Napa). We love the wine and cheese session everyday at 5.30 pm. Got to chat with the other guests in the hotel, and the host was so nice and genuine.
The location of this inn is very good… a short walk to all the restaurants downtown. You can hear very slight road noise at night if you stay at the garden suite, but its not bad at all. If you tell the host, they will make suggestions and reservations for the restaurants for you.
The most surprising thing for staying here was that when we left we got a call from the owner’s wife that we may have left a jacket there. When we went back to the hotel, we found out that the jacket was not ours. It was not a big deal to us. They sincerely apologized, and the next day I got a voice message saying that they decided to refund the money back to us for $ 150. I thought that was incredible thoughtful of them.

Surprised my wife for a weekend here, everything was fantastic and the wife loved every second of it. Room was perfect, perfect size, comfy bed, whirlpool tub. Great little patio with flowers and fountains outside our door. Inside main house is wonderful, 1900’s house, well maintained and perfectly set up. Great sitting area with fireplace, breakfast area with coffee, tea and treats was great, we could have sat in there all weekend. Breakfast daily is chef prepared, and amazing.
Staff was outstanding as well. Blair the owner, joined us for the social wine and cheese hour the day we checked in. Great host! Kali was the innkeeper and we thought she was fantastic as well. Great host, felt like a friend by the time we left. Felice was great as well. By the end of the stay, you want to stay and get to know the staff as much as you want to go out and see Napa. Will definately stay here again and will send anyone I hear is going to Napa to the 1801 First Luxury Inn.

We stayed here in October, 2013, in the carriage house which is detached from the actual bed and breakfast main house. It was lovely! I don’t believe it’s a five star though because the breakfast selection, to be quite frank, is terrible. We’ve stayed at several high end bed and breakfasts throughout the country, and the breakfast selection was always superb. Here, be prepared to eat the same thing for an entire week. The have a chef who comes in to make breakfast, however, they don’t allow substitutions or changes, and ran out of croissants two days! I had the continental type breakfast which consisted of a hard boiled egg, chicken apple sausage and yogurt with fruit. The other chef’s specials were really odd.
The wine and cheese hour in the evening wasn’t what you’d expect from a downtown Napa B&B. It was lousy wine and cheese.
Although we had a nice time and the room was comfortable, I don’t think we’d stay here again. It was very pricey for what they offered.
Also, the staff had failed to flow through with some requests we had in regards to maps and winery recommendations in healdsburg.

Stayed here for a weekend in Napa with my girlfriend and her parents, and had a WONDERFUL time!
We stayed in two seperate suites upstairs and both of them were wonderful! Both suites were very clean, and every detail was covered. All of the suites have a gas fireplace and a jacuzzi. The beds were incredible, and I am not sure if it was the wine or the genuine comfort, but I slept like a baby every night. They even resupplied us with bottled water, diet coke, and coke, along with clean wine glasses every day, which can be a necessity when in Napa! We went wine tasting and came back and everything was nice, clean, and restocked.
When outside of the rooms there is a great seating area by the fire place downstairs that had great reading about the surrounding area, as well as current newspapers. Of course there is also some port wine to sip on at your leasure, and a tray of homemade cookies. Perfect. If you choose to go outside, there is a wonderful covered outdoor seating area with a fountain, where you can relax and put your feet up after a long day of… well, relaxing.
The location was perfect. We were able to easily walk to dinner both nights that we were there. Everything is a very short walk down the beautiful main street of Napa. A safeway is even close by for any regular needs, although everything else is covered by 1801 First.
Kaylie was AMAZING!!! What a host!!! She even helps to get reservations at wineries, make dinner suggestions and reservations, and make sure that everything is truly perfect! Her attention to detail really makes this a little piece of heaven!
The food was incredible! Eventhough we were wine tasting, and traveling around to beautiful places, the breakfast was still a highlight of every day. Three great options to fit any taste, and they were deliciou! I wish that I could come back for breakfast every day!
Overall, if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. I will suggest 1801 First to EVERYONE that I can, and I wil definitely be back! You couldn’t ask for anything more. It truly is like being at home, only better.

Stayed here in May 2013 as part of a mom-​daughter wine weekend. Great hospitality! Many thanks to the fantastic staff. Rooms were beautiful, and I loved the chocolate truffles in the room upon arrival. Wine and cheese happy hour in the garden was great. Great local wines, yummy snacks and laid back atmosphere. Beautiful way to spend an afternoon. Easy walk into town and great customer service. One day our bike tour was unexpectedly cancelled, and the staff did their best to make sure we had alternatives– even gave us some coupons for another wine tasting!
Breakfast in the morning– eh. My pancakes and french toast were good, and the coffee was great. However, the eggs were so boring. Other than the bland breakfast, I’d definitely recommend this lovely B&B.

We stayed in the La Casa Dolce and it was such a lovely cottage.
Breakfast was superb, the staff was knowledgeable and helpful and we loved the evening wine and cheese social hour.
Ps… Our bed was so comfortable! It was like sleeping on clouds. We wanted to take the comforter and sheets home with us!
Loved that we were walking distance to downtown Napa.

The epitome of luxury in a gorgeous bed and breakfast!
Check-​in: We were met by Felice who was very gracious to seat us in the parlor while she got our room ready (we were a bit early). She offered lots of recommendations on great restaurants, tasting passes to wineries, and local tips.
Suite 3: Upstairs and overlooking the street, this is a gorgeous room with oversized tub, sitting area, fireplace, big-​screen TV, and more. The décor is befitting the style of the inn — cozy, classic, tasteful. First-​class amenities in the bathroom plus two luxurous robes top it off.
Evening wine/​cheese reception: On the first night we were hosted by the owner who was an absolutely joy to talk with. The food and wine served were carefully selected by the staff and all extremely tasty. This is the perfect way to start the evening before heading out for dinner.
Breakfast: 5-​star dining by a private chef. Trust me on this, this is better than you’ll find at many luxury resorts around the world (I’ve been to several). No detail is left out and the service is warm, friendly, and seamless. Our wait for breakfast on our first day was…0 minutes! It was ready upon arrival! Timing for day 2 as about 2 – 3 minutes. Llike I said — perfection!
Staff: We met with Felice and Blair. Both were amazingly helpful at every point. What I like about this place is that it’s small enough to make your experience very personal. It’s the kind of experience you get at a world-​class resort but in a cozy B&B.

This has got to be the greatest place to stay in Napa. Perfect location, walking distance to all of my favorite restaurants in downtown. Ive never stayed in the house, always stayed in one of the cottages because we prefer the privacy so my review is only based on the cottages. My favorite cottage is the first one on the right, it has a fireplace that adjoins the bedroom and the bathtub. I could live in this cottage and joyfully eat the beautiful breakfast that they prepare for you here. Just thinking about it right now is making me desperately want to go back! We have gotten massages in our cottages there that were amazing. OMG and the cookies they have out all the time are addictive. I cant say a bad thing about this place. Ive stayed elsewhere in Napa when they were fully booked and wished I was at 1801 First the whole time.
