Blackbird Inn features eight well-​appointed guestrooms. Each of the rooms has a king or queen bed, private bath, television and many feature a fireplace, private deck and/​or jetted spa tub. The rich and handsome Craftsman-​style décor of the inn extends to each of the guestrooms.

History

Established in 2001.

Built in 1902, Blackbird Inn was purchased in the late 1990s by Scott Warren, a master craftsman who transformed the historic building into a Four Sisters Inn. Blackbird Inn’s exterior features a foundation of river rock, which allows the house to blend into its natural surroundings. Massive porch columns and generous use of brick accent the stone and enhance the intentional rustic aesthetic. The building’s half timbering and exposed rafter tails are meant to show elements that would usually be hidden. The interior also embraces the Craftsman style, with a stone fireplace, exquisite use of fine woods, period lighting and fabrics. Warren assembled a team of local artisans whose attention to detail was as intense as his own — gingko leaves in the stained glass entry doors, and in the handmade lamps inside, are a nod to the gingko tree in the inn’s front yard. All of Blackbird Inn’s furniture was made by Warren; the project was a labor of love.

Four Sisters Inns is a prestigious collection of 13 smaller boutique inns and hotels located in California.

It all began in 1976 when the Post family opened their home, the spectacular Green Gables Inn on the shores of Monterey Bay, to the public on a limited basis. Taken by the warmth of innkeeping, they refined hospitality to an art, carefully selecting inns for the collection. Each inn has to be very special: in architecture, history, location, and privacy. From city to country, the inns have become a haven for their guests.

Over time, we’ve created standards that help define Four Sisters Inns. Today, with locations in the most desirable regions of California, each inn combines inviting décor with exceptional service and amenities. It was the first time I’ve stayed at a bed and breakfast, and I’m glad I tried it! It was a fantastic experience! The inn was comfortable, it was quiet, relaxing & homey. The staff were extremely nice and attentive as needed. They have a nice wine and hors-​devours appetizer with plenty of snacks and endless wine, they have fresh baked cookies and a nice breakfast. The location was great… Just a short walk downtown. They have parking and it was actually cheaper than local hotels. The bed was comfy and we had everything we needed and more! Would highly recommend staying again!

Absolutely stunning place. Awesome breakfast, awesome daily happy hour, and even better fresh cookies all day long! No complaints. We had a great stay! The staff is so nice and really helped us pick which places to go, or not to, and they even gave us coupons to help us around Napa. We will definitely be back!
Private rooms with bathrooms, we had a private patio and a HUGE tub! It is located a short walk away from downtown Napa, everything was just perfect! If you shop around you can find really fair priced deals here!

Highly recommended.
Upon walking in, we were greeted by the friendliest host/​innkeeper we’ve ever come across at an inn or hotel. She allowed us to check in early, showed us around our room, and also the main lobby. Then gave us some maps of the area with things to do.
The interior and exterior are very warm and inviting. The lobby is very small and cozy with a couch, chairs, and tables for eating breakfast. Refreshments (coffee, ice water, tea, and cookies) are available there all day and are refilled just before the innkeeper leaves so they are available all night as well.
The room was great with a large bathroom, large tub, large TV and a great electric powered fireplace. It had a private porch as well. We rented one of the better first floor rooms and it had a private entrance with a wooden gate and fence about 6 feet tall all around with trees and shrubbery surrounding so it was very private and nice.
Probably the best part is the very short walking distance to Downtown Napa. The parking lot is small and it’s nice to be able to keep my spot while exploring Napa. I would recommend this place to anybody.

Wonderful B&B in downtown Napa. Walking distance to many restaurants and shops, great staff, beautiful rooms, and charming amenities. It’s not the cheapest lodging in Napa, but worth the price and is competitive or better than the Westin or Yountville B&Bs. Highly recommended!

Location: Great location for accessing downtown Napa — everything was within a mile of the inn making it easy to walk to anyplace we needed. Parking lot was a bit small and when everyone was at the inn it was a little difficult to park. On our first night we checked in after hours and ended up having to call to ask where we should park as the only spot available was the handicap space. Apparently its okay to park there though if needed? There was a sign…
Service: All the innkeepers we had throughout our stay were great — we had three different people over our stay actually. All greeted us and we came and went and were friendly. The innkeeper we had over the weekend was great about offering us advice on places to go in the region (it was our first time visiting Napa) and tours we should look into. Our rooms were always nice and clean by the time we returned for the day. And of course don’t forget the signature Four Sisters breakfast and wine/​cheese reception in the afternoon if you can make it back!
Rooms: There are 8 rooms total in this bed and breakfast and from what I understand all are laid out slightly differently. If you can secure a room downstairs, those appeared to be the largest and possibly most desirable. I believe both had a small private patio which the rooms upstairs did not. The end rooms upstairs both have whirlpool tubs and fireplaces — the fireplaces can make the rooms very hot very fast though so beware. Individual AC control in each room was awesome. Only complaint about the layout was there were two large chairs at the foot of the bed which made the pathway to the other side of the room little tricky. A couch might have been a little better for space sake.
Food: Not often do you feel the need to review the food at a hotel, but four sisters inn’s are not exactly a normal hotel. As a bed and breakfast, this location only boosts 8 rooms total and thus they can provide a fantastic breakfast (all recipes from their cookbook I think) everyday. Breakfast is served downstairs in the living room from 8:30−10 am everyday. We had several different items and all were fantastic. I especially loved the variety of baked goods — a different one each day! There was a different egg dish out each day as well. And the typical cereal, fruit, juice and coffee of course. In the afternoon the cookie jar is put out with a fresh baked cookie of the day — during our stay there was a oatmeal chocolate chip, raisin, and snickerdoodle! Love love love!
Overall: We had a great stay but we actually agreed that we prefer another four sisters location that we stayed at previously. Nothing against this particular location — again service and food were great. Just a personal preference. If you are staying in Napa though and looking for a low key, calm bed and breakfast, this would be a great option.

My first Four Sisters experience, I admit I was a little let down.
Pros —
+ Awesome location — steps to all of downtown Napa’s finest.
+ Fireplace in room — granted it was in the 80s throughout our trip, but this is a cozy touch when the weather cools down.
+ Friendly staff
Cons —
— Overall, the inn is a bit dated. The décor is a bit dark & drab.
— They pride themselves on their famous cookies, which are served daily. Our second day, they didn’t serve any. Boo.
— Breakfast the first morning was not good. Much improved on day two, however the variety was a little disappointing.
— Wine happy hour was also subpar. Day two better than day one, but I didn’t find the options very appealing.
For the price, I was expecting better. Don’t know if I’ll return…

This is a charming B & B we happened upon compliments of the fine folks at the visitors center in the city of Napa. Elegant, yet reasonable compared to the high rates in the area. First time staying at a Bed and Breakfast. I am not at all disappointed with this place!
Came here on vacation with my girl. Since I’ve really never ventured out past Orange County. I had to see Northern California and all that it offered. I was not expecting the luscious trees and scenery. The drive from San Jose was amazing. The weather was a bit rainy but we need it here in California.
Had to do the Napa thing. Although we’re not wine drinkers the experience in of itself was worth it
The inn is within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. Which after an afternoon of shopping and wine tasting within town helps. Vineyards to follow.
The room we had overlooked First street and across the street from the Wine Spectator (magazine) headquarters. Big king size bed. However, a bit tall. Me and my girl are nuggets so getting into bed requires a short run and a climb (jk). The room itself was large! Bed was real comfy, plenty of pillows. Th bathroom was epic! We had a bath tub that had jets in it. Making our own personal jacuzzi!
The decorum of the inn is fantastic! A lot of dark woods and earthy green colors. Not sure of the style of the inn itself but I loved it. The fireplace downstairs was in repair due to the fact that it literally fell into the street durning the last earthquake. Some of the buildings we saw on first street were either condemned or in repair.
We got in late afternoon so we haven’t tried the breakfast and we skipped the wine tasting they offered. So, we’ll do that tomorrow.
All in all, this is the Bed and Breakfast in you want in Napa. Excellent location. Friendly service. Beautiful place to stay.

We stayed here in December for our Wine country get away. The staff is very friendly and helpful in planning where to eat and what to see. The room was cozy with a fireplace, its own patio, and own entrance/​exit from the patio. The blackout curtains are a nice touch. The tub is nice and big. The breakfasts are good as well. We lived the wine and cheese every night; made for a great time to plan out dinner while having a glass of wine and a snack.

The most beautiful inn ever! Craftsman style built by the owner originally as an office space and converted to an inn. Impeccable craftsman ship to the detail from house to furnishings. Elegant yet comfortable and homey. Luxurious… Fireplace in room, private patio. You name it… It’s fabulous!

Very cozy B&B type hotel. Has about 8 rooms each with a fireplace and a unique feature like a balcony or a patio. We stayed in room 8 and it had a balcony overlooking the parking lot and you can see napas hills in the distance. Walking distance to grocery stores bars and restaurants.

We stayed one night and had a great time with excellent service.
I checked in with Jodi who made me feel like a long-​time friend. She knew it was our two year anniversary and had prepared something special for us.
Nick took care of everything in the morning. He is very attentive and make sure his guests want for nothing.
Two things previous reviewers mentioned that I would like to address:
Breakfast is wonderful! I was told they changed things up a while ago so those reviews are no longer valid. Scones (delicious! we could smell them in our room), waffles, quiche, bagels, english muffins, fresh fruit, coffee, juices are among some of the things we had for breakfast (I don’t know if they change up the menu, but disregard those past reviews).
Secondly, we stayed in room 1 which is next to the front desk, but that’s not an issue. The front desk employee leaves early in the evening so privacy is not a concern. And as to outside sounds– no issue whatsoever.

Although we do not have very many experiences with B&Bs, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this place. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and service was very attentive. The complimentary Happy Hour was nice and allowed us to regroup and figure our next winery visit and to make dinner plans. The overall atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. The fireplace was really nice as it got a little chilly overnight. It seems like most people don’t approve of the breakfast. We thought the food was great. The only thing that could change would be the time. Breakfast didn’t start until 8:30am, this is too late, especially for people who like to get up at a reasonable time. Change it to 7:30 and this place will be complete!

I gave 3 stars mainly because the room was lovely, and I thoroughly enjoyed running into town the following morning after our stay. I was, however, disappointed in the breakfast. It was mediocre at best. Although I wasn’t looking forward to eating a bunch of carbs, I also didn’t want soggy waffles and a frittata that was lacking in flavor. The best part of the breakfast was the banana muffin. (We also enjoyed the wine and appetizers the evening prior.) Step up your breakfast game to match your website.
I definitely will not visit this establishment again. Unless, of course, the rates are dropped in half. I did not get what I paid for staying here, even with the balcony and jacuzzi bathtub.
Downtown Napa, on the other hand, cute, cute, cute!
