Koto Express Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar

I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt when I give 2 stars because my food could have been terrible because of how I ordered it. I ordered the chicken breast bowl and asked the English-​speaking lady at the register if they could make it spicy. I’m pretty sure when this is asked in any food establishment, it means spicy-​hot. In any case, she had to go check with the cook (apparently this has never been requested?), then said that they could indeed make it spicy. I also ordered an egg roll, bringing my price to over $ 10. I waited for a reasonable amount of time, then drove away with my take-​out. I opened the box down the road to eat my egg roll — except there was no egg roll. I turned around to go back and ask for it, which was handed over with an apology.
Once I was able to eat the food, I realized there was something very off with the chicken. It was not spicy-​hot at all, but over-​spiced with herbs and salt. It didn’t taste at all like any Asian food I’ve ever had. In addition, the vegetables were simply a mushy mixture of zucchini and onions.
To top it all off, my egg roll was extra greasy and well done/​burnt. So, I gave it two stars instead of one because they did indeed make it «spicy,» they just misunderstood what kind of spicy, and may be the only restaurant that has done so. This is definitely one for my «avoid at all costs» column.
