BEST WESTERN Plus Greenwell Inn

The rooms appeared pretty nice, updated and clean. Its the little things that threw me off from the tub being wet when we first checked in, to the room smelling a little musty. You could hear every step the people above you took though. Say 2:30am hearing someone entering their room above and stomping around for the next 30 minutes… WHERES THE FREE EAR PLUGS? The price was a bit high considering it appears I could have went literally across the street and down two blocks to another Best Western that looks newer…
The WIFI is AMAZING here though. I have never stayed at a hotel and had great WIFI. This one though was amazing and it was fast! I also loved their breakfast in the morning, it was a great set up and very tasty as well!
So considering if you aren’t too picking then this place will work for you… Will I be returning? Probably not unless I had no where else to stay…

This hotel is okay if you don’t pay too much. The room frig is loud. You can hear every guest rolling their luggage down the corridor. The breakfast was horrible and full of cheap carbs. Eggs overcooked and uneditable. The worst is the service. I asked for a hairdryer and the guy working the desk said the owner was too cheap to buy replacements. Did I mention the hot tub with filth and dirt on the bottom. Pick this place only if it is cheap.

For off-​season pricing it gets a few stars. Good location, large updated rooms yet with some issues. The new laminate wood floors feel a little weird, bare feet stick to them when dry, had to wear socks. Housekeeping seems to just be making beds in between days when you are occupying the room. We had tracked some sand in and it was still there when we got back. Alot of loud chatter in the mornings with the maid crew, it was a bit annoying. The breakfast is comical, one broken high chair, a reservation system for pancakes, no I’m not kidding. Oatmeal also has to be «ordered» as you can not make it yourself. Very odd. The best part about the breakfast was the commercial milk system, great ice cold milk with just a press of a lever. Back to housekeeping, check under your beds as you might find some leftover items. We found q-​tips, another room actually found a orange peel in the bed. For an off-​season rate of $ 65 this place is fine, but I would not be staying here in peak season paying $$$ — Just saying

The location isn’t bad — not is parking. However, the first desk associate we had was rude — and very short with us. Turns out they allow NO early check-​ins (we are talking within 30 minutes).
Then there was a mishap with our reservation, however, Kim came to the rescue and got us all sorted. She was so nice and informative.
Be warned: the walls are PAPER THIN. The person above us kept us awake most of the morning as they loudly paced back-and-forth…with what sounded like cement shoes on — this didn’t stop until 900am.
The beds are wicked soft, and the sheets and blankets could us an update in my opinion.
Our toilet was super loud, and didn’t seem to flush all the way.
The desk associate on day two, was rude too. She acted like we were a giant pain, when asking for a late check out (30 minutes late) and wouldn’t look at us.
On a positive note: they always have hot tea + coffee. Plus there is fast access to the river bike path — which can drop you at the base of the climb to Slickrock.

Re-​name this place to «The Worst-​Western Inn»
This looked like a really nice property from the pictures on the hotel website. However, if you are traveling to Moab, you know its relatively out of the way and not to expect extremely nice 5-​star accommodations. However, this hotel was essentially a ‘putting lipstick on a pig’ scenario. The first night we stayed in room 205, we had a 4-​legged visitor of the mouse variety. While we checked around the room, we did not see usual any openings in the walls for where the furry friend could have come from. We did have sealed snacks in wrappers placed inside a ziplock bag that the mouse decided to chew through. We have a feeling the mouse was nesting inside one of the boxsprings because mouse droppings were also found under the pillows when we got there but did not connect the dots of the mouse in the room until later that night. I can’t exactly imagine a more disgusting feeling of knowing a mouse has been all through the bed you were sleeping in before you got there.
We called the front desk and asked to change rooms, which was immediately accommodated at 11:45pm. However, when we asked the manager to check out the new room (2 doors down) for any indication of mice, we were met with a very sarcastic «um…I guess I could…» (insert awkard silence between us and the manager). The manager said she did a thorough check of the new room, however, I do not believe this as there was trash under the bed and the dresser that any other manager would have thrown away if they had actually bothered to look.
Overall, the property is in a nice location on the main drag of Moab, but this hotel really lacks any sort of class especially with the management. Other reviews stated about room 209 having bed bugs, so initially we were hyper aware of that and in the end had a mouse instead. I’ve never been so aware and paranoid of filth in a hotel room before, and hope it doesn’t happen again. The pictures of this property are nice, but again, putting lipstick on a pig doesn’t make the experience any better especially when the management has a horrible attitude to begin with.

We stayed here recently and had a terrible experience with bed bugs. My friend was so badly attacked she had to go to the emergency room. When I went into the bathroom and shook my hair this fell out. The hotel comped us one night but has refused to pay for the emergency room visit. My friend had her back inflamed and chest plus her ears/​neck.
The hotel told us they could not afford to totally get rid of them bc they would have to shut down to thoroughly fumigate.
Avoid this place and please share with others.

BEWARE OF THE STAFF!!!
Doug at the Moab Best Western was VERY rude, argumentative and unprofessional. I am a frequent guest of Best Western hotels and have NEVER been treated so poorly. I was even agreeing with him yet he continued to berate me, and talk down to me. My family has stayed at this hotel before and I will NEVER stay here again or recommend anyone else to stay here. It is overpriced, old, worn, and is nothing special. Don’t waste your money. Spend a little more and go to the other Best Western in town.

Please be warned, this place has BED BUGS! My friend and I stayed here Oct. 16 — 19, 2015. We were in town for the Other Half Marathon. When we got home to California, we went our separate ways — we do not live together. A day or two later, we were both covered in bites. Up our arms and legs, back, hands, everywhere! When we called the manager to let her know, she said we should have complained right away. What you may not know is that bed bug bites don’t always itch right away. The anesthetic in their bites can take several days to wear off! The manager, Rochelle, did not seem to care, but I wanted to warn people not to stay there unless you want to be eaten alive! YUCK!

BED BUGS!!! AVOID, RUN FAR FAR AWAY. I was in room #209 for The Other Half half marathon. I shared the room with my running buddy and since we don’t live together, the ONLY thing we had in common was that room. Both of us started scratching after flying out of SLC. I have 23 bites! And most of them are in the classic «bed bug pattern» of three-​in-​a-​row termed «breakfast, lunch + dinner». Trust me, after Googling everything possible to figure out what was going on, I’m now a bed bug expert. They are VERY hard to get rid of once a place has them so DO NOT risk it. I 100% guarantee those bugs are not only in #209.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for five nights on our trip to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The hotel is centrally located in Moab, which allowed us to park the car after a day of hiking and walk in town in the afternoon. A daily complimentary breakfast is provided which, during our stay, included the following: an assortment of breakfast cereals, fresh made pancakes, eggs, sausage, potatoes, apples, oranges, breads, ham, and cheese. Available to drink were milk, orange juice, apple juice, coffee, and water. The property was well maintained with fabulous AC in the room and a swimming pool/​workout area. There are also washer/​dryers available for guest use with detergent and dryer sheets available for purchase. We did experience one problem, after the maintenance staff left for the day the toilette in our room would not flush. Shellie was a great help in getting us a plunger. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

Where to start? First, I give them 5 stars for a nice Best Western that had been recently remodeled and in a great central location. The staff is a bit putt off when you ask for anything-​2 stars for service. The breakfast is nice but feels more like jail or the military with a tip jar. The first thing you see is a tip jar while you are asked to verify your room number… no eye contact. You cannot make your own Oatmeal. They must prepare it for you. The room is a 1 star. The floor was wet, gross to think of the story from the last occupant. I paid for a roll away, but the staff said sorry we already have it to someone else. You’ll have to talk with management. Disgusting, one of us had to sleep on their wet floor. 1 star for how this was handled. 1 star for value at $ 238. Let’s give 2 stars since they have nice finishes.

Impressive breakfast, nice staff, big TV, good shower heads (two), clean, and great price!

I stay in a lot of hotels (usually Hampton Inns), and have never felt the urge to review any — until now.
This place is a refurbished motel (NOT a luxury hotel, as it bills itself). The room was fine (clean, huge flat screen TV, big fridge), but the wifi was so slow it was un-​useable and the walls were thin. The only way to get privacy from the people walking by was to close the curtains, turning the room into a depressing cave during the day.
The laundry room had only one functioning washer, the ice machine did not work, and the fitness room had cycles from the 1980’s. And when I went to get ice (ice, laundry and fitness are in a separate building) at 6:00 am, there was a sketchy looking man just leaving on an old bike. I had a feeling he had an old room key (to access the building) and had slept inside.
Finally, I’m used to the Hampton Inn breakfast, where you walk in and help yourself. Here you have to verify your room number and name, and only have access to some of the food items. The oatmeal and toppings, for example, are dished up by the woman who checks you in. Guess they’re worried someone will take too many raisins or something…
Finally, even with a Priceline bid, I paid $ 160 for the room — far, far too much for what this place has to offer.

Excellent location in the heart of downtown Moab, very nice rooms and a better-​than-​average breakfast offering all make this hotel a very good choice.

WARNING: Do not stay here!!!
Last summer I was on a road trip and my family decided to stay a few nights in Moab. After several hours of driving, we finally arrived at around 11. When we got in our room I was happy to finally relax and go to sleep. Only problem? The pullout bed was broken (our room was the only suite). Yet they knew about it in advance but still decided to sell us the room (nice black marketing, best western). But there was another room available… at the end of the hall. So we schlepped all our stuff all the way there. Once we got there, there was a strong smell of CIGARETTE SMOKE (which I absolutely, positively, CANNOT STAND) which was left over from some inconsiderate person before us. I mean do people HAVE to smoke in their hotel room??? Anyhow, the smell was so intense and suffocating that we schlepped our stuff back to the original room. Then we put the mattress from the broken bed on the floor. The next day, we moved to another hotel but we only got a small amount of our money back, which shows just how greedy they can be for money (and they overcharge for mediocre rooms). Shame on you Worst Western!!!

My wife and I enjoy the Moab area and have stayed in various motels in the town. This motel was the best so far. Clean and newly refurbished rooms, a helpful staff and a comfortable bed enhanced our recent visit. We will definitely stay here again.

In general, I don’t feel compelled to write reviews. However, after driving with my family from Jacob Lake AZ into Moab last night, we reserved a room with one king size bed with a pull out sofa in the next room (later learned that this is the only room with this bed arrangement). Ok, ready for the best part… The hotel knew in advance that the pull out sofa bed was broken, but still took our reservation. There was only one other room available at the opposite end of the hotel. So we moved our suitcases, bags etc… Once we were inside the room, we had to move back our original room because the cigarette smell was so overwhelming! We put the sofa mattress on the floor for the kids. Shame on Best (Worst Western according to my kids) Western.

Best Western Greenwell is under construction and remodel. The rooms are nicely appointed and had one of the best double shower heads ever. The pool was nice and heated and the spa area clean. The service was nice and friendly. However, for the price it is too expensive as it does not come with breakfast and the lobby is a hotel room. I know it is Moab and their location is great for walking around town after a day of activity in the Canyon lands but Best Western does try to set a standard for you to expect and this one was not there yet.

I agree with Jeffrey S. that this is an off-​season stay. We passed through Moab during spring break, not knowing that the town believes that the best way to celebrate the death and resurrection of Our Savior is to drive around in the dirt in a specific brand of automobile, then get drunk and yell at your wife/​girlfriend in restaurants (I believe they call it the annual Jeebus n’ Jeeps festival. Anyway, that’s what I called it). We got the absolute last room.
The room itself was comfortable enough, I suppose, although there were stupid hillbillies hanging out in the parking lot and yelling until about 3 in the morning, and when we checked out, there was a medium-​sized group of kids who’d decided that the best place to play football was the hotel parking lot. The walls and ceiling (we were on the first floor) were incredibly thin, and we could hear whoever was in the room upstairs pacing around literally all night.

OFF SEASON STAY. Let’s make that clear right up front. During the peak season, and especially spring break Moab is a whole different town and all bets are off. So bear in mind that this was my off season experience. But still, I think most of what I have to stay will hold true any time of year and should provide good information about the property. For my stay, I can’t help but give high marks to this motel.
I stayed for several days of blissful vacation between Christmas and New Year’s and used it as base camp to attach Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. There are a couple of key things to note about this Best Western. First of all, there are two Best Westerns in Moab. The other is only about a block and a half away, and would probably be considered the «nicer» one. That one (the BW Canyonlands) has a few more amenities, a little fancier lobby, and will probably cost you a little more. Secondly, this location is a motel, not a hotel. That’s neither a positive nor negative, just an FYI.
As the real estate people say, it’s all about location, location, location. And this bad boy is in a primo location. Practically sitting smack dab in the heart of Main Street Moab, you can walk to any of the main attractions, shops, restaurants and highlights of the town. That alone makes lodging here a very attractive option. There’s plenty of parking, but even in the off season the parking lot was full, so if you’ve got a few vehicles or are pulling a trailer you may run into problems.
Check in was a breeze. Our keys and a copy of our reservation were waiting. With a quick initial here, there, and signature we were on our way. I had only booked a week in advance, but there were plenty of rooms available then and we got a special «stay three nights» rate. I upgraded to the king suite for an extra buck per night and we landed at about $ 55 + taxes nightly rate. A steal!
We hoofed it to our suite (Room 101, next to the office) and I braced myself for what $ 55 was going to get me. Let me say how pleased I was to walk in and find an updated, clean, comfortable, and downright terrific looking room. The suite was actually two separate rooms separated by a door, and a massive bathroom. The first room had a couch with a hide-​a-​bed, coffee table, computer desk, small-​ish fridge, microwave and flat screen tv. Not too shabby! The couch was starting to wear and wasn’t completely comfy, but other than that it was top notch. One note: the fridge is bigger than a standard mini-​fridge, so we jammed plenty of supplies like milk, beverages and lunch food in there. However, there was no freezer compartment.
The bedroom held a big ‘ol king sized bed, and another flat screen on the opposite wall. Spartan, but the bed was comfortable and the closet had down-​alternative pillows, which is something I’ve come to appreciate about most Best Westerns. Even though you’re in the heart of Moab, I didn’t hear too much noise around. Sure, you’d hear passing cars, but they were easily tuned out and I slept like a baby. Each room had individual wall mounted climate control.
The bathroom was indeed giant. New tile on the floor and tub surround. Speaking of tubs, this thing was pretty deep and made for a great post-​hike soak spot. The shower had two heads – one for your head and one for your body (I presume?) that ran simultaneously, and while the pressure didn’t blast you, it was still a nice touch. Everything worked as advertised and was clean and new.
There aren’t many amenities here, but I personally didn’t drive to sandstone and canyon country to hang out at the hotel. They do tout an outdoor pool and spa (not a factor on my mid-​winter stay) and free wi-​fi. The wi-​fi worked fine, but was too slow for streaming or any major online activity. Coffee in the lobby (no breakfast) and a small exercise facility. They also say that they have bike storage, but I’ve no idea how that works or if there’s a charge.
Is this motel a five-​star motel? No. Not in the traditional sense. But it doesn’t pretend to be. It’s a convenient stay in a prime location for an excellent off season value that set basic expectations and exceeded them at every turn. At $ 55 a night, I’d stay again in a heartbeat. At $ 75 a night it’s still a bargain. Break into the triple digits and you’d have to start doing some comparison shopping. But for a post-​Christmas getaway to see the sights and parks around Moab it was absolutely perfect.
