Zax Restaurant

Enjoyed a nice meal outside since the weather was gorgeous. Our server was prompt and attentive. Appetizer came out in a timely manner. Their garlic cheese bread is delicious. Our pizza also arrived in a timely manner. The pizza was very good. Loved the crust. All in all an enjoyable experience.

Came here for some pizza. The service was good, the beer cold, and the cheese bread extra cheesy. We ordered a buffalo chicken pizza, which was average.
I’ll have to say we will probably go back for the atmosphere and service. We probably won’t get the buffalo pizza, but try a different kind.

Great food and one of the only ones that survived the three-​hour power outage and remained open. Friendly staff. Recommend the all-​you-​can-​eat pizza/​salad bar.

Wonderful, hand prepared pizza. The salad bar was fresh, the soup made me want to take the recipe home. Fantastic Pizza all you can eat where they ask you what you want made.

Opted for the pizza buffet after a long day of touring and driving. Pizza was okay, not hot enough. Salad bar was nothing to write home about okay for the price. Chicken noodle soup was hot but needed more vegetables and chicken otherwise taste was okay. Will not be back with all the other choices in town.

Came over News Years with a group of 15. The food was pretty good, I had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and fries and I thought the meal was great. The fries were amazing. My husband got the Zax burger and it was a little too spicy for me but he enjoyed it.
The service was alright but towards the end of the meal one of the staff came over and told us that she was «over her time» for our table and asked us to leave. We were all finished eating and we were just waiting for our waitress to give us the checks and then we would have been gone. I found it extremely rude that she said that to us. I figured maybe they had another group waiting and needed the table but as we walked out, no one was waiting for a table. Still not sure why she said that to us.

Great burgers. Our server, Angel, was very nice and attentive. Pizza crust was delicious. The dessert cookie with ice cream ended a really hearty meal. We will be back.

Great atmosphere, awesome location, and bustling with people (including locals). Menu is diverse and enticing, and the service excellent. The food wasn’t quite up to the same standard, though not awful. Pizza felt like, well, greasy buffet pizza, which it was. Other dishes just seemed a bit lower quality than we’d hoped. Prices were reasonable and hard to expect too much more, but we weren’t wowed.

A warm, family-​friendly place with fast and friendly service. We’re just passing through on a road trip and really wanted some «real» food. Both the pizza and the salad bar were delicious.

The food was okay and it’s also a great place for visitors to get dinner while their laundry runs. That’s what we did and it worked very well.
The waitering system seems overly complex. We had a waitress seat us and take drink orders. Our meal waitress, a different person, was apparently supposed to bring the drinks but didn’t. So we sat there watching them sit on the bar, all of four feet away, not entirely certain they were ours. So the bartender ended up serving us our drinks eventually.
The food was okay. I wish I’d had a pizza, which looked like their specialty, and looked much better than our meals, but I had the beef hobo, which is similar to a Philly cheesesteak. My wife had the grilled salmon salad. The beef hobo was tasty and dipping the fries in the au jus was great. My wife’s salmon salad, however, was not. The salad bit was fine but the salmon was WAY overcooked. The meat was white and had white cook-​off seeping from between the meat flakes. So, were I to visit I would avoid the salmon. The beef hobo could be a good option, though.

What a fun joint! First of all, everywhere in Moab is packed/​has a wait, it seems. Little town. Lots of people. We had some pre-​drinks and wandered about afterwards looking for dinner. Zax had a 45 minute wait. I stroll into the bar, strike up a convo with a cool chick named Tara… find out she’s a server… she has a table for 6 leaving and slides us right in within 10 minutes! Shout out, Tara! She’s not only an awesome person but a great server.
I tasted a variety of dishes, all solid but not spectacular. Great company + wonderful service (Tara! Saddam!) = super fun times!

Zax was great. We had the all u can eat Pizza, soup and salat for 13.99 and it was good. There were a lot of choices of different pizzas, a little bit more season would be great. The salatbar was fresh, the Chicken soup ok. The Service very friendly. If someone want some easy pizza, Zax.

Nothing to see here. I had the zax burger with chicken and it was overcooked. the music they played overhead was all those horrible pop songs from the 1980s.
My cousin had the zax burger and wasn’t impressed.

Terrible staff. Outdoor server, lacks personality, lacks basic customer service abilities. Acted like I was putting him out by asking for a side of ranch.
Rude at taking our order… «What do you want?» How about you give us a couple minutes after sitting down to review the menu.
Also, hostess walking us back bitched about the client before us.
” I HATE CLINGY AFFECTIONATE COUPLES LIKE THAT!“
How about you keep your opinion to yourself and pretend you are happy to have guests in your establishment.

Okay, Zax is a lot like a Chili’s or an Olive Garden, but with pizza. Definitely not a hip or interesting ambiance (crying baby central). All that being said, the pizza was so yummy after a long day out hiking and the prices were solid for an all-​you-​can-​eat pizza and salad bar.
I’ll definitely be back.

We decided on Zax’s for dinner and it was great.
Maria (or Marie, sorry) was our server, what a memory!
We ordered buffalo wings, salmon dinner and ceaser salmon, all were very good.
Sit outside, it’s lovely.

A local variation on the city «fern bar» theme with a nice western variation. Its a big place with several rooms and a big menu. They offer a Pizza/​Salad/​Soup bar combo for $ 14, and we selected it on a busy Sunday night. The soup is good, especially the beer cheese, the salad bar is fairly complete, lacking only salads not made from lettuce. Cole slaw and macaroni salad would be nice additions. The pizza is quite imaginative, such as the bacon and hot sauce pizza, the selections with pesto (there are warnings for these (?), and others. The result is a decent pizza if not exceptional. Note that if you can’t find a parking space on the street, the parking lot is a block away.

Was greeted as soon as I sat down by the bartender; he came to take my order as soon as I set my menu down. My martini came out right away, with a smile.
Cute: they use bandanas as napkins.
The spinach artichoke dip was pretty good – the pita chips that come with it are awesome!
The cheesy garlic bread is good too, but not worth the calories if you’re having pizza.
The margherita pizza is really really good – good crust, good cheese to tomato ratio.
Overall, a great experience!

I was in town, alone and came in for dinner the other night. It was really busy when I came in, but I just went to the bar and found a spot right away. I started talking to an older gentleman next to me who was quite interesting, and honestly the only reason this place was bearable. I sat for no joke, at least 10 minutes without a bartender even looking my way. It was busy, yes, but I was sitting at a bar with nothing in front of me for 10 minutes. That’s unacceptable. Finally, the man next to me flagged down who I assume must have been the bar back. She was very friendly and took my drink order and told the bartender — not knowing when my next opportunity would be, I also ordered the soup, salad and pizza bar.
The salad bar was a salad bar — good. The beer cheese soup was good (first round, it was at the bottom, but second round it was filled up and much better). The pizza was eh. I tried about five different kinds, none of them impressed me, at all. The guys working behind the pizza bar were very nice and helpful, so I give them props!
Now, back to the bartender. About 15 mins into my visit, the bar totally cleared out. I was not busy. After I was satisfied with a beer and food the bartender checked in, I had my mouth full so I just nodded in appreciation. I finished, pushed my plate in front of me and waited… took out my credit card… and waited, kept trying to get the bartenders attention. It was like she was purposely doing anything she could EXCEPT look at me. She was clearing random plates all around me, taking orders from people at the tables behind me, basically nothing I could do would get her attention. So, I had to go to the bar back once again, she told the bartender and the bartender gave me my check. I quickly put my credit card on the check and slid it as close to her as possible… NOTHING. Are you frikking kidding me!!! Another five minutes goes by. Tired of waiting, I took my credit card back and left all the cash I had, which was $ 22 on a $ 20 tab. I never do that, but I honestly feel like that was being generous in this instance.
Sorry for the rant here, but I just had to share with the Unilocal world my experience here! Service — 1 star (only because of the bar back and the nice pizza guys). Ambiance — 3 stars. Food — 2 stars.
