River Canyon Lodge

Great location. Our room was spotless and comfortable. We had a Junior Suite where the two beds are separated by a long counter with fridge, micro and coffee maker. Plenty of storage and a nice size wall mounted TV. My only complaint was that the Internet connection was not the best. I had to rely on using my phone’s data to access.
As with many hotels/​motels, folks love to congregate in hallways and have loud conversations. Even if they are talking to someone on the other end of the hall. This started at 6AM one morning. And it sounded like they were in our room. I do not fault the hotel for this at all. Just inconsiderate guests.
When I book budget lodging, I know what to expect and Four Seasons amenities are not part of my expectations. I do expect basic, clean accommodations. The River Canyon Lodge provided exactly that plus a friendly & helpful staff to boot!
I would not hesitate in returning and recommending this place to others. We actually plan on returning to Moab during late Spring and this will be our first choice.

For the money, my room was great. Clean, comfortable, convenient. The three «C’s.» It is not a luxury stay, but for a nights stay, perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. I booked the room through Expedia and the transaction was seamless. I would stay here again.

Very helpful and friendly front desk staff. We stayed in a small queen bed room on the third floor. The room was clean. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, which were both clean. Home is close walk to downtown! Our room had views of red rocks surrounding Moab.

My husband and I were in town for the Canyonlands Half Marathon. The rates were steep for a motel, but that was the case for all lodging in Moab this particular weekend. The staff were very courteous, the rooms clean, albeit small. But this is a motel and it wasn’t a surprise. The microwave, fridge, and large flat screen tv were good amenities. The bed was smaller/​basic, but comfortable enough. We would stay here again.

This hotel had not only incredible comfortable rooms but very accommodating staff. The staff was above and beyond.

Spend 3 days there on a recent dirt biking trip to Moab. Outstanding value!!! Nothing fancy… but everything you need for a great stay. Very clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff, and great location. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We stayed at the River Canyon Lodge in Moab and were actually quite surprised with the price/​quality ratio. You have to keep in mind that this is not a 5 star hotel, but it is a simple lodge. As we were not looking for a 5 star hotel, we actually thought this place was super nice.
Also, the staff was super friendly! One of the best things is that within a couple of minutes walking, you are at the Eklecticafe, where you can enjoy a great breakfast. The combination of these two places so close together was a winning combination for us :)

The bedroom and bathroom were clean, and the beds were comfortable.
The water never gets cold from the bathroom faucet. Bathroom fixtures were falling apart (sink faucet came apart) or about to (the towel rack sat at a 30-​degree angle from horizontal and wiggles when one touches it).
Biggest complaint: the staff. When we checked in, it wasn’t busy at all, yet the front desk staff acted as though nothing could put them out more. One employee was disinterested, one was overtly rude.
The place is fine if you need somewhere to crash, but I would recommend this place only if everywhere else in town is booked.

You get what you pay for in life, this place is NO different. The location is great, right in town, you can walk to everything. Unfortunately, things fall apart from there. Terrible service at the front desk, I almost walked out, but everything else was full and I didn’t want to sleep in my truck. Once in my room I noticed how dirty it really was and there was even an old box of cereal in the cupboard. This box of cereal was the ONLY thing in any of the cupboards, nothing else. Fortunately, the bathroom was fairly clean and the shower worked. This hotel is in need of a major renovation and deep cleaning. Good luck

I’ve been going to Moab for many years (spring and fall) and staying at the River Canyon almost every time. In my opinion you get great value for what you pay for. We have always been given great service. We went most recently this Monday April 7 and stayed until Thursday the 10^th. We have come to know Austina at the front desk. She is delightful. This time however she was off (on vacation I hope) and we were greeted by Lisa who also gave us excellent service.
The River Canyon has a great swimming pool and Moabs largest hot tub.
It is conveniently located within walking distance to everything downtown.
The rooms are clean and nicely furnished. They are biker friendly.
I’d give it a 4−½ if I could.

We love Austena! She was the best. She was so kind to our dog Schmeagal.

The hotel was clean and well located. The furniture is modern but the rooms are tiny. The hotel seems to be made of thin walls and cheap construction. There was no free breakfast, only a $ 5-​off voucher (per room, not per person) for a pancake breakfast somewhere else. I made the mistake of accidentally leaving a jacket behind. Unfortunately, the hotel staff never found it.

Stayed one night on the way out of town (after 3 nights camped in blm site by the river (and road)). Paid $ 80 for one night. For what it is that seemed like too much but it was a busy week so was happy to have a clean place with warm water. I should have stayed in Green River instead where the same or better room is $ 40/​night.
Check in was friendly but hotel is very plain. There was road noise from my room, and also it was by the elevators and the ice machines. Ice machines woke me in the morning.
Not a great sleep. Instead of breakfast they gave me a $ 5 off coupon for Pancake Haus.

Sauberes und gutes Motel nur wenige Meter von der Hauptstrasse entfernt. Das Motel liegt zentral im Ort und man kann von dort aus etwas die Hauptstrasse auf und ab flanieren. Hinter dem Motel befindet sich ein Pool. Der Empfang war nett und unser Zimmer sauber und gemütlich. Für eine Nacht absolut okay.

This place was clean and affordable. Besides from the large amounts of screaming children and thin walls, it was great!

I will not return to River Canyon Lodge. Last time I was there for a Half Marathon, I thought they had billed me and had not budgeted for the hotel bill. They had not, but that was my mistake. I booked a room for the half marathon coming up in March. They immediately billed me, which I did not plan on. Its caused a huge problem and left me with zero dollars. I spoke to the lodge. First they tried to blame it on the website I booked through. Then they explained that they normally don’t bill immediately, but they are treating the Half Marathon weekend differently and there are no refunds/​cancellations. Its no wonder the Half Marathon organizers do not recommend that people stay here. I explained that I had planned on being a loyal customer, given them a great Unilocal,and enjoyed staying there, but this would be a game changer. They did not care. Its a shame, they have a good location, friendly staff, and plenty of parking.
I still don’t understand why they would choose to be more restrictive with this half marathon.

Room is clean and quiet. The wifi works. I really like the abundance of mirrors. The lighting quality is above average for a hotel.

Pretty decent hotel and close proximity to Wendy’s and grocery store. Popped popcorn in the room so that’s a plus. No breakfast but nice to have coffee up front. Had to backtrack to see Canyonlands but well worth it. Staff was friendly too.

We stopped in Moab on our way from Denver to Sedona. We needed a clean bed and a hot shower and River Canyon provided just that.
The fact that a warm fire was glowing in the lobby and we were met with friendly service was a bonus!
The room was nothing fancy but it did have a small table, plus a desk, mini fridge and microwave. We got up early the next morning to watch sunrise in Arches National Park and it was just a few minutes drive from there.
If you have pet allergies, not a good place for you. They have doggie treats on the lobby counter, pet fountain in the lobby and when we checked out a cat was curled up in the outgoing mail basket. We love animals so we didn’t mind, as long as it didn’t «smell» like animals which it didn’t.
They offer AAA, AARP and government rates which makes their low rates even better!
