Sleep Inn

After checking in after 5 PM, I dropped my bags off in my room and went out to get some dinner with my dog. Afterwards we walked around town a bit. When we finally decided to return to the hotel, I took my shoes off and went to turn the a/​c on, when I noticed the floor by the a/​c was wet.
I bent down to smell it and it smelled very musty, like it was old carpet that had been wet before.
My dog had not been in the room alone, so I knew he couldn’t have had an accident in the room.
I decided to go down to the front desk to alert them to the situation and see what could be done about it. The woman at the front desk told me she had been in the room earlier and the carpet was not wet. Did she walk barefoot in the room when she had checked the room out?
She went down the hall to the room to see for herself. She knelt down and smelled the carpet and proclaimed «it is dog pee.» I asked her if she was blaming my dog, and she said that it wasn’t wet earlier. I told her that my dog had not been alone in the room the entire time, and she didn’t offer an apology or anything. She said she would see what she could do when the night auditor came in.
i went back to my room and was thinking about it, and went back to see if there was anyone she could call. She said there was no one that could help us and no one that she could call and we would have to wait. I asked if she felt it was acceptable to have someone stay in a room with a wet floor, and she asked what I would like her to do. I explained that I would like to have my money refunded. She said I could probably have a discount, but would have to wait to speak to the auditor or manager.
Why would I even complain to the front desk about a huge wet spot in my room if my dog had actually done this? I would either be apologizing and cleaning it up, or not even mentioning it for fear of being charged.
She continued stating that she didn’t think the floor was wet earlier. I asked if she would like to see receipts that we were out all afternoon and evening. Then, she had a phone call and proceeded to help the person on the phone. At this point, I mentioned to her that I was needing her assistance first, and she should assist customers in the order that they arrive/​call. Apparently, this was not something she felt was necessary to do, and that she could help anyone in any order.
She got very frustrated and angry and also admitted to yelling at me. Meanwhile, I did not raise my voice, become belligerent or threatening. She then told me that I would have to leave the hotel because it was not ok that other guests could hear me complaining when they were checking in. I said «Well, is it ok for one of your guests to be in a room that is clearly unacceptable?»
This whole situation went on and got even more intense. This woman clearly does not know how to deal with people in an acceptable and professional manner. Unfortunately, this experience has definitely altered my view of the Choice Hotel chain, and I will definitely look elsewhere from now on when I need a place to stay when on the road.
BTW, her manager was in the next morning and stated that it was not, at all, dog urine, but the air conditioner leaking. Go figure. Inexperienced and unprofessional front desk staff.

Loved the spa with the hot tub. The room had a tiny bathroom but sufficient. The hotel was clean with a relaxing lobby. The room was not as big, I felt too confined in the room with my family of 4. The rate was too high for me to get my own room for one night. It was easy to find one I entered the city. The breakfast was free: waffles, French toast, cereal, juice, pastries, bagels, eggs, sausage, fruit

we were passing through and decided to stay here. we were also traveling with our dog. the first room we were assigned (130) was unacceptable. once opening the door (well trying to since the carpet was tattered and giving resistance to the door), we were hit it the faces with an awful and unbearable stench. we were not going to be able to tolerate it for a night so we asked the front desk if we could change to a different room. so, we exchanged the keys and moved down to a bit more populated area of the hotel. room 118 was heaps better than 130. the walls are rather thin, can hear tvs and people talking in their rooms while walking down the hallway. fortunately, we got some much needed rest and enjoyed the free breakfast before hitting the road again.

Great location. We arrived late and without a reservation and the front desk attendant was very kind and helpful. All of the hotels in the area are expensive, The Sleep Inn had vacancies and was affordable. If you have AAA they take 10% off.
The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower was spacious with hot water.
Breakfast was included and offered hot coffee, juices, sausage, hard boiled eggs, assorted breads, yogurt, waffles and mixed fruit.

Stayed at this location during a family trip. The room was just as it had appeared in the pictures. Very clean with a nice view of the red rocks across the main strip. I didn’t use the pool but I did take a walk around the area and saw others who were enjoying it. It looked well managed and clean. The location of the hotel to local trailheads and other services was very convenient. The location delivered just what it promises in the name, a nice place to sleep in.
A tip for those considering a stay, the hotel only has 2 floors and no elevator. So if you a member of your party is unable to navigate the stairs, request a first floor room.

I really liked my stay here and felt very comfortable. I was able to get a reasonable price using priceline. There’s a free continental breakfast that I hit every morning before going to Arches. The lady was very attentive and always was refilling the food. The waffle maker is the greatest hit there so be patient if you are going to use it. There’s plenty of variety of food sausages, bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt and cereal. Most of the evenings they would make popcorn for the guest so that was really nice. For the coffee they had different syrups to choose from (I’m still a baby and can’t drink straight up black coffee so this was perfect for me). They were so kind to have let’s use their fax machine for a paper that I needed and were very friendly. I never tried the pool but there seemed to be kids in It all the time. The room was a perfect size with a fridge to supply any food you buy along the way. Overall I was very pleased with my stay here.

Not worth the price,
My wife pulled back the sheets and there was dog hair all over, and on the pillows also, we love dogs but not sleeping with them.
So we decided to sleep in the other bed and there was long hair under the pillows,
I had to fix the bathroom fan because it was screaming, then water leaks all over the floor because the shower door wasn’t sealing right, we had to turn the shower all the way to hot to get luke warm water because they must have the hot water setting low on their water heater to save power? Oh and the door safety latch didn’t work, oh one more thing haaaaaaa don’t expect to get a table for breakfast there isn’t enough room.

This hotel was my home away from home. The way the room is set up is modern and comforting. You can watch tv from the bathroom which was a plus for us. The breakfast food was ok but for us comfort is important so this fits perfectly. Bed and pillows are so soft, we slept in everyday we were there. It’s less than a mile away from the center of things but its very walkable. They had a very nice pool, laundry room for guests, and coupons for some of the restaurant. I’ve never booked sleep inn before but this is a great hotel.

Considering the very pricey rooms located a little closer to Arches, the Sleep Inn was an affordable choice just a little bit farther away from the Moab town center. The location was fine for getting to Arches National Park, and the price was right. They also offered free wifi and breakfast, which included a waffle maker, sausages, yogurt, toast, etc.
The room was basic — two double beds, small fridge, separate shower/​toilet and sink area. I think the cleanliness could have been a little better, however, because I did find a Cheeto-​type chip (with my foot) that was hidden just under the bedskirt.
It’s fine if you’re not looking for anything fancy and are really just wanting a place to hang your hat for the night.

Stayed here for 2 nights after camping in Canyonlands, I was ready for a good place to stay and the Sleep Inn was just right. If you’ve stayed here before, you know Moab is not known for it’s luxurious lodging… what you’re looking for is clean, comfortable and affordable lodging and this is it. Beds were fine, linens clean, breakfast your typical mediocre buffet. Our upstairs room was large and faced the pool (which was small but private and clean). Folks at the front desk didn’t smile much, but the cleaning staff was super helpful. Tip: the coffee in the lobby is pretty bad because the water tastes pretty bad… we bought a gallon of water and made coffee in the room. MUCH better. Also, make the reservation on-​line 30 days in advance for a better room price.

Thank goodness the girl on the desk was observant. She noticed I had booked a «smoking» room and I needed a «non-​smoking» room because of my asthma. She was very accommodating and found me a non-​smoking room on the second floor, but then I realized that there was no elevator, so she found a double (instead of a king) on the first floor. The fact that there is no elevator is something that I hadn’t thought to find out about before hand. So if you are in your 60’s like us and it’s difficult to schlep your bags up the stairs, be observant when making your reservations.
Now for the room — absolutely spotless, and I loved the big huge shower. Nice TV with cable and free Wi Fi. The price was much lower than surrounding hotels. There’s a small frig, a closet to hang your clothes, a desk for your laptop with plenty of plug-​ins for charging your phone, etc.
Even though the breakfast is listed as complimentary, there were sausages to eat with the waffles. The boiled eggs were peeled. The coffee was a little lacking, but overall, you can’t beat this Sleep Inn!

Located on the far end of the Main St corridor in Moab is the sleepy Sleep Inn. Its a two floor hotel built in the flavor of all great hotels of 1990’s, with lots of gold fixtures. I stayed here for 3 nights over the recent busy Labor Day weekend trip to Moab, UT.
The hotel is pretty run of the mill for this type of affordable hotel. Its two floors, there’s no elevators, all the rooms face inwards, there a pool out back, a parking lot surrounding it and free «breakfast».
The rooms are what you might expect of a cheaper hotel. They were plenty big to fit the two beds. The vanity was outside the bathroom which was a separate room with a toilet and walk in shower. And what a huge walk in shower it was… I mean seriously there was a lot of room for «showering» in that shower. There’s no bathtub in their rooms so hope you’re looking to leverage all that shower stall space they provide.
The beds were had clean sheets and were made up daily. The sheets were clean but honestly I question hotels that still allow flower/​print bed spreads in their room. Lets be honest, there’s no way those things are getting cleaned daily. Make sure you sleep in the sheets to avoid that. There was a desk and drawers with a chair, although there really weren’t any lounging chairs in the room. There was a twenty something inch LCD on the dresser to watch. No HD feeds, but it was an HD TV. They put a mini fridge under the vanity. Beware there’s no temp controls, mine froze an orange all the way through. The A/​C units are controlled on the A/​C units and have two settings, frozen and not quite cool. If you like white noise they’ll put you right to sleep.
Those of you that demand your free cheap breakfast out of a hotel will be thrilled mostly. They had a «hot» breakfast available. The idea that 5 years ago’s continental cold breakfast is a hot breakfast is achieved through the addition of the loud beeping waffle machine and a hot tray full of sausage links. Its mostly the same carbo load continental breakfast you’ve been getting from budget hotels for years. The breakfast area is precariously small and boxed in. Get your breakfast early, or get it with lots a patience. There is a seating area above the lobby with two tables if you carry your plate up there. Its much less hectic. There was a 24hr NesCafe Coffee machine in the lobby. It always had available lava hot coffee like substance that you could put in a small provided foam shotglass… don’t rely of the lid too much.
One of the saving graces of this hotel was even though it showed its 1990’s-ness through and through, it was really really really clean (sketchy patterned bedspreads aside). Everything was shiny and cream colored like it was when it was put in during George Bush Sr or Slick Willy’s presidency. I’m guessing they spend a lot of time keeping it shiny in the winter off season.
I’m a professional hotel critic (in my own mind), if you’re unsure of my breadth of hotel knowledge you clearly aren’t reading all my great hotel reviews on Unilocal.So I just want to close my review of Sleep Inn Moab with that boastful comment. I think the hotel is a perfectly respectable hotel to stay at. On a scale of 1 to 10, its dead center if not a bit above average when you consider all the no name hotels in the Moab area. I do think that a few little things like changing those bedspread to a white Hampton Inn style bedspread and some new carpet would go a long way to bring the hotel into this decade.

Pros: 5-​stars for Dinah, the very friendly, professional, and helpful woman at the front desk. Small fridge in the room; laundry room right off the lobby area; in-​room coffee and free wi-​fi.
Cons: 1-​star for the overall cleanliness of the room… i dropped something on the floor and when i picked it up, got the previous guest’s hair, so they obviously did not vacuum. Carpet appeared worn and even a bit dirty.
This property is located on the south end of town, so in the middle of summer, you’ll want to drive downtown. All things considered, a little over-​priced.

When in Moab, My wife and I usually stay at the Sleep Inn. This time around we did not have a good experience. When we went into the hot tub, we noticed the cloren was really strong, so strong it made my wife have an Asthma attach afterwards. The next day we noticed both our suits were severely discolored as if they were badly bleached, they were basically ruined. We brought this to the attention of the help and she mentioned they have had other complaints but the manager thinks the cloren levels in the hot tub are normal. Needless to say we never went back in the hot tub on our stay there, we also will not be staying at the Sleep Inn in Moab any more!

We were booking our two nights in Moab fairly last minute, so we were limited in options, since so many places had no vacancies. But we really lucked out with this place! It’s not exactly a total bargain – no place in Moab seems to fit that bill– but it has free wi-​fi, and it’s extremely clean. The beds are comfortable, the rooms have big flat-​screen tvs and are definitely sizeable. They have an outdoor heated pool, an indoor hot tub, and a complimentary breakfast consisting of the usual toast, bagels, English muffins, fruit salad, and blueberry muffins, as well as crullers, some unique cereals, and (unfortunately only) 2% millk. They have a few kinds of coffee, and a good selection of teas. They’re also pet-​friendly!
The normal rooms don’t have bathtubs, which might be a concern for some, but we really enjoyed our stay here and felt happy sinking back into the beds after a full day of exploring Arches!

Great, well priced hotel. We stayed for 2 nights and found the hotel clean and quiet. The breakfast was good too.

Spent two nights here while exploring the National Parks in the area. Very nice hotel with large rooms and a very nice shower. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Our friends tried the pool and thought it was very nice. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. I would stay here again although we did experience noise from the person staying in the room above us. You could hear them walking across the room but I contributed it to a person that has a heavy step. We did not eat the breakfast as we prefer something other than carbs. They serve toast, muffins, cereal and boiled eggs.

We won’t be staying here again.
Let me start with the plus side: they did allow us to bring our dog, and didn’t flinch at all when her kennel was in the room or we walked her through the halls.. .HUGE PLUS in a town that (with due reason) doesn’t allow dogs anywhere but left at home.
Upstairs on the second level, I noticed the rooms were clean and the whole level felt fresh. I think that we actually would like this place had we had a different experience.
We reserved a room for 3 nights about a week before our stay. When we arrived, they told us the only room left was a smoking room (meaning, they OVERBOOKED thinking that somebody would not show up).. .so guess who got to stay there?
DISGUSTING. They were unable to accommodate us in a non-​smoking room for our first night.. .which, we were willing to go with and expressed that the next day we would like to have a non-​smoking room as we had reserved.
Seeing several people leave the next morning, we checked in twice the next day, making it clear that we wanted a non-​smoking room of any kind, were told it *may* work, then later told that no, we’d have to stay in the dark, smelly, disgusting smoking room again.
The third day we asked again for a transfer. The same person from the day before looked and said ‘well, we don’t have a room for you.‘
I said again ‘we don’t care WHAT room, we just want non-​smoking.. .king bed, two queen’s, whatever.. .please get us out of there.’ He says ‘oh, if I had known that I could have transferred you out the first night’.
He thought we were only wanting a room with the king bed.. .even though we had made it VERY clear that we wanted ANY room and that we hated the smoking room.. .the beds did not matter.. .
What happened to listening to your customers and taking an extra step to make them happy, especially when they are at the desk several times during their vacation begging to be taken out of the smoking room?
After all that, they refused to offer any incentive for us to come back, so we won’t, and we want people to know that while they do have some nice rooms, don’t count on getting one of them. Don’t count on the customer service, and don’t count on them treating you like a guest.
When we came home we had to wash everything just to get that nasty smell out.. .no thanks. Worst $ 385 dollars we have ever spent.. .it’s really sad that we had to spend the same amount as we would have if we had a better experience at this hotel. We didn’t ask for a smoking room, or to have our requests be scoffed at.. .

Had a great time here, very cute and refurnished. We brought our dogs (my 4lb Maltese and his 40 lb Pitty) and we never got a weird glance or yelled at for not having them on a leash. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Their Continental breakfasts were O.K. and the Jacuzzi area was relaxing and had a cool mural on the surrounding walls.
Sleep Inn is right off the main road and provided easy parking for our Jeeps and was close to the gas station and trail-​heads.

Great pool and a complimentary breakfast. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Free wifi in the rooms. Would stay here again.
