Cozy B&B in a quiet town. Nice room, excellent conversation about fly fishing over breakfast., which was yummy.

We stayed for 2 nights in the waterfall room and had a fantastic time. Comfortable, attentive service and a great breakfast. Very beautiful old Victorian home that didn’t feel stuffy and the staff made us feel right at home.

Quaint b&b in the sleepy town of McCloud. Delicous breakfast. Ursula was a great hostess and knowledgable for surrounding sightseeing. If you“re looking to get away from it all this is a great choice.

Mike and Ursula were great! My wife and I had only planned to stay one night, but ended up staying 2 because we liked it so much. We had the waterfall room. Super comfy and cute décor. Breakfast in the room was a nice (free) touch. The first morning was some sort of egg, cheese, broccoli quiche thing. It was awesome! My wife sent me away to find her another slice. The next morning was pancakes which were equally as awesome! They came with the best fruit n yogurt cups i’ve ever had!
The special we got made the room very affordable! and it was so ice, we just can’t wait to go back :)

This is probably the cutest B&B I have ever stayed at. It looks like a little yellow cottage sitting atop a hill. The inside is even cozier. The rooms are amazing. I checked out all the rooms that were vacant to see what they looked like. They were all amazingly decorated. This might be a strange comment but the bed and sheets are so comfortable. They sell the sheets downstairs… I was almost tempted to buy them.
Breakfast was delicious. They served us fresh fruit with yogurt followed by a yummy broccoli and cheese quiche. There was even dessert baked just for us. I had called in saying I was a vegetarian so they completely accommodated that request. The stay was just a dream. Too bad it was just a stopover on our roadtrip. I want to go back and explore the tiny town and the Shasta area.

It’s a very well-​appointed and comfortable inn, lovingly created out of the McCloud River Lumber Company offices. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. This is our second stay here and we love it. The innkeepers and owners are polite, courteous and willing to help. When we found out that one of the local restaurants that we are planning on visiting had closed (as others have noted, McCloud has limited dinner choices), the owner quickly called to make arrangements for us at the McCloud Hotel, which was fantastic, as it was last time we were here. In the morning, they made a special and delicious vegan breakfast for me. The breakfast setting in the parlor at one large table, is very conducive to conversation with the other guests, and we’ve had some very nice interactions there. On the downside, there are no televisions in the rooms (which is not a problem for us). But there is free wi-​fi. We’ve really enjoyed our stay at this inn as a getaway from the Bay Area and we plan to return. We highly recommend this B&B.

We only spent one night on our way up to Ashland to do some sightseeing and do some hiking to a few of the area waterfalls. The B&B location is pretty good and has a nice deck out front and the decorations give it a nice charm.
Urusla was very friendly and gave us great information about what to do in the area and some ideas for food.
We stayed in the Drawing Room and the room was nice and the bed was comfortable. While not a deal breaker I wish the room had a tv as there’s no nightlife really in the area and it would have been nice to have in the room.
Breakfast was really good fresh fruit, frittata, and some cinnamon baked bread that Urusla made.
I would definitely recommend this place and would definitely stay there again.

A big ‘Thumbs Up’ for McCloud River Inn B & B! Here’s what’s in store for you: charming historical inn with high ceilings and beautiful décor and appointments, (we were in the upstairs jacuzzi room which is beautiful and spacious with a comfortable searing area) cloud soft bedding and linens (I really did not want to leave my bed!), very good breakfasts (wheat pancakes, broccoli quiche, fresh fruit) served in a lovely dining room, extremely friendly, caring and attentive service (Ursula, you’re just terrific, what more can I say?), and if all that were not enough, the abundant homemade chocolate chip cookies sent us over the edge! I’m tellin’ ya, the best ones I have ever had in my whole life. And I’m not even much of a cookie fan! For the outdoors folks like us, the river/​water falls hike very near by, and the amazing bike ride down to Lake McCloud right out from the inn, with outstanding Mt. Shasta views, is another great plus! Yes, a very special place indeed. We can’t wait to return. Thank you for a wonderful experience! (I’m still wanting that bed!). In parting, I would like to make a minor suggestion to hold off serving the breakfast entrée until the first course is consumed. This could be a personal preference I realize, as I like to thoroughly enjoy my first course and coffee before the main course. My delicious pancakes and sausage got a bit cold before I could finish my wonderful fruit and yogurt. Lastly, we had a fabulous al fresco dinner at the McCloud Hotel about a block away. I highly recommend! Fine dining with a good sized wine selection.
I wanted to stay another two nights at this terrific spot!

We had an amazing time at this adorable B&B! The location is nice — not even a full block from the teeny tiny downtown area of McCloud — and it’s got a great deck out front to have a glass of wine and make friends with the gigantic outdoor cat who may or may not jump into your lap and claw the shit out of you. Ideal for crazy cat ladies like myself.
Our room, the Mother McCloud suite, was perfect. There was one queen bed in its own room closed off by french doors and another queen bed in a little nook off the main room, which had an electric fireplace and two sitting areas. No TV, which we found rather romantic. The bathroom was decent size and had a really cute vanity.
Everything was clean and fresh, and it was so unbelievably quiet! We took a nap in the afternoon with the windows open and weren’t disturbed at all. It made me want to move to a small town… for approximately 5 seconds.
Breakfast was really nice as well, located just around the corner from our room. An older couple was already there and we chatted with them over a bowl of fresh fruit with yogurt and french toast. When we finished, the innkeeper came by and offered to make us an extra batch of french toast, which we immediately agreed to.
Prepare your plans for dinner and other activities ahead of time, because you’ll likely have to drive a few miles away from McCloud. This itty bitty town has almost nothing to do — which is exactly what we were looking for.
Can’t wait to go back and relax in this beautiful inn!

we had the time of our life, very romantic (a bit isolated) Out in no where land and far away from the Bay area, but a delight none the less.
If you are not familiar with B&B’s, you may not want this experience. But, if you are open to adventure and like each others company… try it!

My dad and I came to Shasta to check out the mountain we’d so often flown above and ended up in this wonderful B&B by pure luck.
For everything this place offers the price is extremely affordable. Our room has two queen beds, a fireplace, a giant shower and a ‘living room’. Basically it is bigger than my apartment at home an it is decorated very very nicely. It is warm and cozy and I sort of wish I was here with my boyfriend rather than my dad if you get the drift :)
Ursula is a very kind woman and bakes the best cookies in the afternoons, not even to speak of the delicious fruit salad that she prepares in the mornings — which not only tastes good but is also presented in a very fancy way that makes you enjoy eating your meal even more :)
If you are in the Shasta area you simply have to come here. I think it is impossible to find a better B&B, hotel or anything — here or anywhere else for that matter!

Great place in a wonderful quaint little town. And I mean little. The Inn Keepers are so fun to talk to and they make amazing full breakfasts.
We rented out the Jacuzzi room and we had a peaceful stay. The Jacuzzi tub was fun and a great treat for the price paid. Our room was well appointed, spacious and maintained each day by the Innkeeper.
The town has nothing to offer in the way of night life and is severely limited for dinner too. Head into Mt. Shasta for your more diverse and recommended restaurant choices. However, peaceful drives from McCloud to the McCloud river and Burney falls in the early Winter were wonderful. I know the summers here are quite nice too and would make for an amazing stay for summer fun at the McCloud River Inn.
We stayed in each evening after dinner times and relaxed, read, soaked in the two person tub and put together a puzzle. Go here to relax and you will find what you are looking for.
I only give it four stars because there is always room for improvement. I worried that the walls were awfully thin and with a full house it would be a real problem.

If there ever was a reason to visit McCloud, CA. it is to stay at the McCloud River Inn. The beautiful Victorian Bed and Breakfast is authentic with beautiful rooms, each with its own bath and a variety of views, none of the river or any river. The tiny town is quiet but with all necessities met.
The Innkeepers, Mike and Ursula Weatherford, are gracious and hospitable. The breakfasts are delicious and healthy always served with fresh fruit. On the other side, fabulous chocolate chip cookies welcome the visitor. Alston Laughlin

Very Nice. We stayed a couple of nights before Labor Day weekend 2011 in the downstairs room — «The President’s Map Room». It’s wood paneled and nice and big, with a oversize bathroom. It now has a tall fixed shower head over the claw foot tub (watch your step, the tub can be slick and there is nothing to grab!). We were lucky in that we arrived early and 3 of the other rooms were not occupied yet — so we checked out the upstairs — nice size rooms all with something extra to set them apart. The whole place seemed quite clean and well cared for — with just enough wear and tear from being an old building to remind you it’s not a HoJos — we liked the creaky floors and vague Winchester Mystery House layout. The Innkeepers were very friendly and accommodating without being intrusive (if you’ve ever stayed at a B&B where they ‘hover’ you’ll know what I mean). Breakfast in the communal dining room upstairs was yummy, vegi frittata one morning and wheat pancakes the other — lots of juice and fruit with both. Coffee out at 7 AM and a good breakfast just past 8 — not so heavy as some places where you feel like they are providing your last meal. Fresh cookies in the evening. Charming, warm, hospitable. It’s a block off the town center and uphill a little with a big deck out front to sit and have a beverage at in the evening, and watch the world go very slowly by. I can’t quite go 5 stars, 4.5 if I could.

Stayed here because we were going on the Shasta Dinner Train. Great choice, ’cause after the train you basically walk a short block and you’re home.
We were greeted by a very friendly innkeeper and had nice, warm, cookies to get our afternoon started.
Overall, the inn was well-​kept and didn’t show it’s 10-​year age. Everything was fresh and clean. Since the inn was an old lumber-​yard office, rustic antiques and pictures abounded. The sitting room/​library/​breakfast area had games and books for our enjoyment.
We stayed in room #5, the only room downstairs. Our view was a slightly obstructed view of Mt. Shasta — a nice treat for those morning sunrises. I suppose if the trees had more leaves you might not be able to see Shasta at all. This room has a claw-​foot tub — a special treat for my wife. Unfortunately, this makes for an awkward shower as the shower head is hand held — authentic, but a little too much so for me. ;-)
As the nights can get mighty cold, there is a heater in the room. This heater is as efficient as it is loud. We made the mistake of leaving it «on» the first night and listened to it go through three or four stages of firing up, blowing air at different speeds, and cooling down all night long. The next night we turned it way down and opted for the down comforter — mighty cozy!
As the place is old, the floors (and ceiling) creaked, but not so much that it was annoying. Of course, if you’re apt to getting up in the middle of the night for a drink of water, you run the risk of waking a light sleeper as you walk across the room.
We stayed three nights and each breakfast was different but wonderful. Quiche, pancakes, and another baked egg dish (not quite a quiche) rounded out the offerings. Also available were toasted muffins, orange juice, baked breads, cereal. You didn’t leave hungry.
We did tour the upstairs rooms and while they were smaller, they also seemed a bit «brighter» — not quite as rustic or woodsy. Kind of depends on what you like.

I got a gift cert. from a friend for this place and we had the time of our life. Very romantic, old school style décor. The entrance has a cute little coffee, sitting area. There are antiques everywhere and the couple running the Inn were super nice and very warm. I highly recommend spending the extra $$ and get the room with the jacuzzi. There’s a little guest book in every room for guests to leave a little blog about their visit. There’s also a little stereo with some CD’s for those romantics. I believe our room had some champagne and chocolates waiting for us. There’s a little Italian restaurant within walking distance, we weren’t impressed with, but we still had fun. There’s also a little ice cream/​soda shop around the corner — but our corn dogs were frozen in the middle. It’s nice to just walk around and look at the tiny town. I have to make note about the breakfast… it was so pretty, I had to take a picture. If I find it, I’ll definitely post it here. Little pastries, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. Great weekend getaway!
