Fugakyu

We came to Fugakyu for lunch and ordered lunch specials. I ordered a sumo combo that came with Spicy tuna maki, assorted pieces of sushi along with a miso soup and salad. We asked to be seated inside but they do have a very nice outside porch that seems like it could be nice for a less hot day. The porch overlooks what is the chess/​checkers field in the summer and the ice skating rink in the winter.
The food was very good as we’re the drinks. I ordered a pomegranate Cosmo which if you haven’t tried, you should cause you are absolutely missing out. The only reason I don’t give the restaurant five stars was that I didn’t find the fish to be _​that_​fresh. The spicy tuna wasn’t spicy. But I still recommend the food. The service was great. The waitress checked up on us very frequently. Overall an extremely pleasant experience. Thanks!!!

Their lunch specials are a must try! Delicious sushi for extremely reasonable prices. I got the nigiri and maki special for $ 13 which came with 4 pieces of nigiri and a roll of tuna maki. My sister got 3 rolls of Mali for $ 14. Each dish came with miso soup, a side salad, and a delicious orange to end the meal with. The restaurant has an extremely nice atmosphere and wait staff with great outdoor seating options.
I would not give this 5 stars due to the quality of nigiri and maki served. For the prices you pay during lunch then the sushi quality is above and beyond the price you pay. However, I might be slightly disappointed in the sushi quality if I were to pay dinner prices. Overall, a great experience and definitely one of my favorite lunch spots!

Very good environment and food is also very good. I ordered the chirashi, udon, sashimi, lobster appetizer, all very good. Highly recommended. So far it’s the best Japanese food I’ve seen in North Shore Boston area

Although the décor was very nice, the service and food were mediocore… very disappointing. The menu is inflexible when it comes to simple requests (i.e. we had a shellfish allergy in our party and asked for a roll without the scallop included and they said no) and the flavors were very bland. Finally, the service was terrible. All wait staff were much more concerned with texting on their phones.

This is was one of my favorite places to get sushi, but the recent lunch experience I had was absolutely unacceptable. There was a hair in a few pieces of sushi– the waitress was very nice and had the chef remake my plate (I assume so they could warrant still charging us) However, at that point I wanted no part of eating anything so it was a waste. At no point did the manager come over to speak to us, so as we paid and asked for one to come by. She was very rude, didn’t really even care that there was an issue with the food. All she said was «yeah I’m aware we remade your food didn’t we?» Yeah, that’s super great customer service… Will not be returning. You should probably train your managers better. She barely even said sorry for the issue.

For a newbie sushi eater, this place is great! I love the décor. It’s light, clean & modern. Staff was very nice and helpful as well.
We got this outstanding roll: outside was picked daikon radish, inside was salmon, avocado, cucumber and burdock root. I highly recommend it!!! We got some mainstream sushi too, which was fine but paled in comparison to the above^^.
I want to try more unique rolls like that, any suggestions?!

Went here for dinner and a couple drinks a couple weeks back, can’t remember our server’s name but she was great and very accomodating. The cocktail list was impressive, I’d recommend the Don Julio Silver with soda water and a lime!
The food was good too. My date enjoyed a rice dish with veggies while I enjoyed some sushi and scallops.
Would go back.

It was hard to find a place to dine in at Marketplace Lynnfield on a Friday night. This place happened to have available seatings at 7:00pm.
Ambiance: We sat near the bar at the open modern high top tables and when I say high top… I mean hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh top! After climbing up on the chair and placing our drink orders in, we settled in and checked the place out. I noticed the nice floor lights emphasizing the designs on the bar side which really add a whole new dimension to a Japanese traditionally-​styled interior. Very stylish!
Must-​try drink: Lychee Martini
Food: Mediocre for the price. The Sashimi Taco Trio was definitely different. However, I think they tried way too hard to make the maki flavorful by adding rich heavy mayo which was not to our likings.
Service: We did noticed the poor bartender who was serving us, was also manning the busy bar front and making drinks for the entire restaurant. It took a while to get our orders in and even to get the check was an excruciatingly long wait. The bar was certainly understaffed on a busy Friday night.

Have come here for the lunch deal a couple of times. It’s good for when I’m extremely lazy and just want some sushi as its about less than a 5 minute drive from work. It’s also pretty cheap.
Of course with the cheapness comes the lack of quality. It’s pretty Americanized food and mainly satisfies the American crowd that will think this is authentic.
This is the type of place that I’d go to if someone wanted to check it out and I was hungry. Otherwise I wouldn’t come here out of my own desire

Went New Year’s eve. Very expensive. Good food. Decent service. Chicken was good. Tender and crunchy but lackluster; half the chicken with an added side sauce and veggies would make it better.

I’ve been to the Brookline location a few times, so I was excited when this location opened at Market Street. I had made a reservation, as it was a Saturday night, but people coming in without reservations were seated without a problem. The restaurant is quite large with many different areas and rooms. We were seated near the sushi bar in a booth area with doors that closed, so it was as if we had our own private room. Our server was friendly but not very attentive. Being in this small room with the doors closed, I often wondered if we were forgotten about! We started with a Sake Maki roll ($ 7), which was plain salmon wrapped in rice and seaweed. The portion was small and the price was expensive for what it was. For our meals, I ordered the Fugakyu Noodle Special with grilled chicken, udon noodles and a soy sauce broth ($ 17). This dish was quite large and contained various vegetables, a hard boiled egg, and fish cake. The broth was slightly salty but didn’t have much flavor. My husband also ordered the Fugakyu Noodle Special, although he ordered his with spicy broth, ramen noodles and vegetable tempura ($ 17). The tempura was served on the side and was a nice sized portion. His also came with the vegetables, Egg and fish cake as mine had. He agreed with me, that this meal was ok… it was fine but nothing special. Overall, I was a bit disappointed as I had previously dined at the Brookline location and found it to be more enjoyable there.

I work nearby so I go to Fugakyu often.
They have a GREAT lunch special. For $ 14 or $ 15 you get three rolls of sushi.
Today I had the spicy tuna, a salmon and an avocado. They plain salmon is great, the spicy tuna is a little heavy but surely not bad.
I always sit at the bar and the staff is always so nice and quick. I’m on my lunch break and I can get out in 45 minutes.
The sushi is fresh and delicious. Ive had some of their fancy rolls too and they were all delicious.
I’ve never sat in the dinning room or had anything other than their sushi.

Prices were too high for the quality of food. Food was good not exceptional. And portions were on the small side. A strange space with lots of different dinning areas. Very fractured space. Service was good with everyone helping out.

Thought we would give this place a try for lunch after doing our «Christmas Returns».
Wildly disappointing!
Hostess was inattentive… drinking iced coffee. After (no exaggeration) 3 – 4 minutes… I ask «Who do we see to be seated?» She replies «Oh…you want a table?» Strike 1
We each ordered Bento Boxes. Many different combinations among the 4 meals… ALL disappointing! Strike 2
Bill came… way too much for mediocre food. Strike 3
Service was simply acceptable.

-: with mediocre food… this is definitely a definition of americanized sushi/​chinese/​japanese food… can get this food cheaper anywhere at a sit down asian restaurant !

Came here after a while and wasn’t as impressed as I was the first time. We ordered a torched salmon app (forget the name, similar to tuna tartare), sushi, and ramen.
Salmon app was good. It came with little toasts (cracker type things) and that was flavorful. The sushi was bland, but still good nonetheless.
The ramen was seriously disappointing. My husband and I got the same thing. Vegetable tempura ramen with the pork broth. The chef forgot the egg, and when we asked for it we got an overcooked cold half egg. They can’t even give a customer the entire soft boiled egg either — only half for a full bowl. Cheap cheap.
Very disappointed and likely won’t return.

Update! They now have takeout/​delivery! Other than the food being slightly over priced I have 0 complaints… Food is amazing

Was shopping at the Marketplace with a GF for the first time & we wanted to grab a bite so we decided to stop in.
It was soo nice inside, there are several different dining rooms and I think they seat you based on what you are eating.
We ordered some Sushi, some Veggie plates, some Edamame just to share everything.
The service was great & waitress & Mgrs were very attentive & friendly.
Portions were great, Pricey, but great. Would def go back if in the area.
There are koi fish swimming in the lobby which was super cool

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner tonight. We were super hungry and figured you can’t go wrong with Japanese food. Oh boy were we wrong.
We ordered a salmon sake roll, chicken teriyaki, and stir fry udon. The sake roll was good, but that’s about it. The chicken teriyaki and stiry fry udon was not very good to say the least. The teriyaki chicken was basically grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce on top of it. The stir fry udon seemed like it was pre-​made and mixed together.
The bill at the end of the night was very expensive which left a bitter taste in our mouth because if the food was good we wouldn’t mind. The service wasn’t ideal either, but the food is what’s important.
Overall, I would not recommend going there.

We normally go the Brookline location; but since we were coming from an afternoon trip to Maine, we decided to give the Lynnfield branch a try. We had attended the opening party this summer so was also curious to see how business was doing. There was a taste of Marketplace going on when we arrived — it was quite lively.
The décor is a blend of clean modern lines with the traditional Japanese private booths available as well. Our host and server were on top of everything and the food was just as good as the food in Brookline. We had dobin mushi, nasu dengaku, ankimo special, miso yaki, sake avo ae, saba sashimi, hamachi sashimi, sake sashimi, and warm chocolate cake (put your order in early). We also had a taste of a potential new dessert with green tea flavor. Yummy. I hope they add it in.
This location has parking, shopping, great service, and fantastic food. If you’ve experienced Brookline then you won’t be disappointed with Lynnfield.
