Sat through dinner freezing with our coats on! People had their hats and scarfs on. Will not be returning

Sat through dinner with my jacket and scarf on. The restaurant was no higher than 50 degrees. Told the staff and nothing was done. Service wasn’t great. Huge portions but I was too cold to eat.

As others have noted, the location lacks ambience. The elevator smells bad. The hostess sat me at a hibachi station with a random family group, assuming in error that I actually wanted hibachi. I could overlook these things if the sushi was good, but it really wasn’t. Not terrible, but without flavor. The rice was too sweet(from the lingering aftertaste I think it was sweetened with Nutrasweet). The Lady in Red specialty roll was supposed to be spicy tuna inside but it was mostly cucumber. Overall the food had no visual appeal. I don’t plan to return.

HORRENDOUS experience. Kids eat free Sunday, which was our only reason for going there, but apparently not on Father’s Day. Took over 2 hours for the cook to even get started. We had 3 kids and it an hour and a half to get our drinks, salad, soup, and one order of maki. I will also note the king crab tasted like canned tuna. There was no way that was fresh. It was disgusting. My 5 yr old could do better. The waitress messed up our drink order, then gave me an attitude as if it were my fault. No one came by to ask if we were OK or needed anything the rest of the time. I approached the gentleman at the front desk to inquire how much longer we’d have to wait for food, he said the manager would be right out to talk to me– which never happened. I mentioned it on our way out and he was very nonchalant about it and was like«Oh well, sorry». I always tip at least 20% no matter where we go. This was the first time we left without leaving a tip. I was absolutely livid and extremely disappointed in the overall food quality and customer service. Vinnin Square has much better places for hibachi. I would rather pay the extra money for kids meals and drive the extra miles to go there than to ever set foot in Misono ever again. Disgusting. I gave it 1 star only because I couldn’t give it 0 stars.

Been coming here forever! Kathy is the nicest server you’ll ever meet & she’ll remember you every time you come! I’ve never had anything I didn’t like here. Make sure you have an empty stomach cause you’ll eat until you’re ready to explode. Sushi chefs are amazing also!

As one of the chef’s say, yummy yummy. This place serves delicious food. I have been coming here for the past 5 years, and it has been consistently good. I always get the filet, and it is so tender you don’t need a knife to cut it. The chefs are so entertaining and fun.

I don’t write many 2-star reviews on Unilocal because I only go to places that have rave reviews(on Unilocal). Every other time I’ve written a negative review, the business owner has messaged me and guilt tripped me into changing the review. So here goes nothing. I’ll start by saying that I think Japanese«Hibachi» is a gimmick. It’s cheap dinner entertainment. Unfortunately for me, my girlfriend absolutely loves these places. As a man, sometimes you need to take one for the team to make your lady happy. A couple of months ago we went to Bisuteki in Revere(which has a 2.5 star average on Unilocal). I don’t think I wrote a review, but I would give it a 4-star based on service, quality, and price. I was pleasantly surprised. Last night we decided to give Misono a try because it is the highest-rated Hibachi restaurant in the North Shore. I guess being the highest-rated Hibachi restaurant in the North Shore is like being the classiest strip club in the North Shore. Take all of these reviews with a grain of organic sea salt. Misono is located next to Cabaret and across the street from the Golden Banana, which are strip clubs. It is located directly behind an Amazing Adult Store. This is a place where people who have no internet connection purchase adult videos and other paraphernalia. When you walk into Misono, you take a really sketchy elevator to the 2nd floor. I’m fairly certain the owners of Misono are trying to mimic the user experience of a brothel. We were greeted right away and told, «Just one minute while we get your table ready.» This was at 7:15pm. I know the exact time because I was going to post on Facebook my last whereabouts in the event we were kidnapped. We were seated 15 minutes and 2 more hostesses later. The atmosphere left a lot of room for improvement. It was very brightly lit, and also freezing cold. I think the draft was coming in through the hood vents over the grill. Put it to you this way — my girlfriend asked to wear my down North Face jacket and our hot saki turned into cold saki in a matter of minutes. The floor is an old carpet. I’d say the waitress came over fairly quickly and took our order. We split sweet potato maki and a spicy tuna maki. The spicy tuna maki was definitely taken out of a refrigerator. It was ice cold. There is no way you can tell me that it was made fresh. It had the dreaded fishy taste, which is a sign that you should not be eating it. No way I’m going to come back and order sashimi if you can’t even get a spicy tuna roll right. The chef came over at 8:30, which was over an hour after we had arrived. We had garlic noodles, chicken breast, and filet mignon. The food itself was good and the portions were gigantic. But at that point, the whole experience had just left a bad taste in our mouths that no amount of pickled ginger could remove. We ate all of our pickled ginger too, because we were starving. My advice to the establishment would be to work on the overall customer experience. If you know there is going to be an extended wait, let people know when they arrive. It would have been better waiting at the sushi bar, having some apps, drinks, and watching the Bruins game. As for the HVAC situation, you need to get that looked at. Hot saki and tea should not turn cold in a matter of minutes, nor should your patrons have to wear insulated jackets inside the establishment. I gave 2-stars instead of 1 because the food was edible, I didn’t get food poisoning, and we were not kidnapped. I’ll stick to Kelly’s Roast Beef and Santarpio’s for fine dining in the North Shore.

I went because of the reviews, but was disappointed. Fair warning, it is pretty sketchy to get there. You forever to get drinks and my order taken, And the sushi was pretty expensive. It took a long time for them to cook dinner, and the chicken was an odd taste, and there was no presentation to it. The cook actually made to go orders before getting to our meal. The sushi wasn’t well prepared, and it fell apart really easily. Over all, pretty disappointed.

We had a bad experience here for lunch. We had a reservation for 6. We were seated quickly but the server was very slow. Food was still on the floor from last night’s supper guests. Drinks took 10 minutes to arrive and none were alcoholic. He forgot the tea that two people ordered and left to get it, then returned with mugs but no tea. He left again for the tea. Waiting waiting waiting. We were the only party in the room. We decided not to have the worst restaurant experience of ours lives on this day… And we left.

The best hibachi restaurant ever. Kathy, the manager, is always nice and friendly and seems like can solve every problem you have like a gene. Waitress and chefs smiles and do the best they can for you. I would recommend the file and sushi pizza. Actually everything there taste good and fish is always fresh.

I was introduced to Misono’s by some friends who are big sushi fans and love Cathy. I don’t eat sushi but do like hibachi a lot and this is one of my favorite places. I always get the teriyaki shrimp hibachi dinner and that comes with the broth soup, salad, grilled veggies, the shrimp, and green tea ice cream or sorbet. I usually spedn $ 25 – 26 on my meal with tip and leave absolutely stuffed. Everything is delicious and my friends love their sushi. Ask for the«Asian Girl» dish not on the menu with spicy crab meat. Everyone is so nice and the food is always amazing!

When you think of a place that serves stakes and sushi, you can’t develop high expectations, but we were stunned! The sushi we ate was excellent! The service was kind, the prices were fare. Basically, no complaints at all. Give this place a try! Even if the location is not supreme.

I have been going to Misono for the past 10+ years(and was a lost puppy during their year closed). I appreciate their service above all. Cathy is a gem and always makes you feel like family when you walk through the door. I swear, she knows everyone’s name but who doesn’t want to go where everybody knows your name(cheers pun) A sushi lover and my fiancé a steak guy we sit at the sushi bar and he enjoys his hibachi fillet and I am in heaven with my delicious selection of fresh fish. Truly, I have yet to have a meal there I didn’t enjoy. Yes the location is strange but once you find this treasure it’s one you won’t forget.

We went here on her birthday(a Monday evening) and so the place was pretty quiet. She ordered the Veggie Delight dinner combo, and he ordered the Shrimp and Steak dinner combo. Chicken broth soup and salad were included in our dinner combos, so we were delighted to have such a good deal. The chef was extremely friendly and colloquial; very entertaining to watch. Food was delicious but a bit on the heavy side(they give you both rice and noodles — a bit overload?) but everything was extremely well cooked and prepared. We also decided to try a Roll of The Day, which included a jalapeño pepper(which HE stupidly ate and had to cool down a bit before enjoying dinner). Overall, a very pleasant experience. Had to bring home quite a bit of leftovers.

The sushi chef here is awesome! The sushi and maki rolls are always nice and big and the rice and fish are always quality. They have a weekday lunch special that has all you can eat made to order sushi and maki rolls for $ 11.95. They recently added a few different options for other lunch specials that include miso soup and salad along with their amazing sushi. Always exceptional and friendly service.

$ 8.95 lunch special for Miso soup, salad, and two amazing Maki rolls– doesn’t get much better than that. The rolls were really good, the sushi bar very clean, and the waiter & sushi chef were super nice– will definately be back here soon(in fact, currently trying to convince my wife to go back tonight with me!).
