We had a Groupon to visit here. Came on a Saturday afternoon. There was only 1 person working the counter. She was completely overwhelmed. Not her fault just poorly managed. I thought she was somewhat stiff and trite. I have visited a LOT of other wineries. They have a lot friendlier hostesses. Wine was average. The Groupon was for $ 16 and doesn’t include the glasses. If you pay $ 20 you get the glass. The location of this place makes them a hot spot for travelers. You will have a much better experience at some of the wineries out in the county.

I attempted to visit Old 502’s tasting room with a family member on Saturday afternoon. There was a sign on the door that said that they would be closing early, at 6:30pm to accommodate a private party, but it was 1pm so we headed inside. There was only one staff member working and she had two couples who were tasting. When we approached the bar she asked if we had reservations. We did not(there is no signage saying that reservations are required). She then refused to serve us, explaining that a large party would be coming it. Finally she recommended that we go next door and order a flight at Over the 9. Honestly, that recommendation is the only reason this isn’t a 1 star review. The staff at Over the 9 were lovely and saved the visit.

A tasty place to try some great wine. My husband and I had some beer and wine flights after getting a tour of the brewery. It was AMAZING! The staff are all friendly and really know their stuff. We sat at the bar and had a great convo with the bartender. He was knowledgeable in not only the items they serve, but also very skilled in keeping a convo going. If you get a chance to stop by, you must try the Kentucky Lady and the Bach! I’m looking forward to the wine slushie next time!

The pork belly sandwich was simply irresistible. Everything was fresh and the sandwich had a little kick. My new guilty pleasure! Atmosphere was very gastropubbish and industrial. Definitely a hidden gem.

This was the final stop of a day-long wine tour my friends and I put together, and we had been looking forward to Old 52 if only for their fun and witty wine names(BORE-DOUGH? Come ON!) We had called ahead to let them know we had a larger party, and they were quick to accommodate us – they even set up a tasting for us, which they normally don’t do. It was $ 12 for a taste of all 8 of their wines. And BONUS: we got to keep the wine glass! Because if you’re like me, you can ALWAYS use more wine glasses. The space itself was neat — loved the exposed brick and general feel of it. We came towards the end of the day, so it wasn’t busy at all(in fact, the place was completely ours for the last 45 minutes or so). The only reason they don’t get 5 stars is because their wines weren’t 5-star worthy. While the names were fun, the taste wasn’t anything to write home about. Surprisingly, we all liked the Bourbon Barrel Red the best, and this is coming from a majority of non-bourbon fans! It only seemed to have a faint bourbon smell, but not an overwhelmingly strong taste, which is what we liked(that, and it was one of the few non-sweet wines we had tried all day).

After a long day of museums and caves we were in need of wine. This is a great value for a wine tasting. We got 6 tastings each with the souvenir glass for only $ 7. For $ 1 more we tried the desert wine that would poured into a tiny chocolate cup! Yummy. We ended up buying 3 bottles and I wish I lived in the area to go back with my girlfriends next time! The most expensive wine was $ 14.99 and all others were $ 11.99 or $ 9.99 so it’s very inexpensive to grab a few to take home.

Visited on a quiet Wednesday afternoon in the middle of winter. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. Small collection but nice variety. Able to taste nearly everything on menu for less than $ 10 and you get to keep the glass. The«bore dough» was def the favorite. Would recommend this place to friends.

After trying their tasting at the Douglas Loop Farmers market(only $ 1.00 I must add) I’ve wanted to check out the winery for quite some time. The Bore Dough was my favorite red; not to sweet, a pleasantly smooth KY wine. I love downtown architecture; the exposed brick gives that industrial feel to the wine bar. You will also find unique gifts in the gift shop with very reasonable prices too. Drink local and shop local. Win, win at Old 502 Winery. I will definately be back to try their wine slushies.

I absolutely love Old 502 Winery! I cannot say enough great stuff about it. Everyone I know loves it as well, but sometimes I still feel like one of their biggest fans. I take every opportunity to talk them up to anyone who brings up wine, because I honestly believe they make some of the best, most affordable, wine I’ve ever tasted. I am by no means a connoisseur of wine. To be completely honest I don’t know much about it at all. So, one of my favorite things about Old 502 is that they won’t judge you for that. You don’t need to feel at all intimidated to walk into their shop, or up to their booth, at say Waterfront Wednesday(or any other event around town because they’re the official wine of everything in Louisville, which I LOVE!), and talk to them about their wines, your tastes, and what they have that you may like. Usually at the booth you can do a small tasting for a couple bucks and a full tasting in their shop is(I think) $ 6. It’s totally worth it to get to try their amazing wines and you get to keep the really cool Old 502 wine glass at the end. If you already know what you’re looking for you can also go in for a glass of wine for the same price, or just take home(or open up in the shop) a bottle for around $ 12 or so. I am not a big fan of red wine, or dry wine in general, but I honestly like every single wine they make. My favorite is the Kentucky Lady, which is a sweet white, but I also love the Bourbon Barrel Red(which is a semi-dry red and not usually my taste at all). There’s just something about the way they make their wine that is absolutely delicious and appealing to my palate. I highly recommend going in and checking this place out, or checking out their booth when you see them at an event, or picking up a bottle at a local shop(most places around town carry their brand). They also have an awesome event each Wednesday called Wine Down Yoga where you get a full yoga class and a glass of wine, or a tasting, for $ 15. Just remember to bring your own yoga mat! Finally, if you’re not that into wine, or if you have a significant other who isn’t, they also have Falls City beer, because they share building space with Falls City Brewing Company. I haven’t been in for any beer events, but I’ve been told they have a great happy hour on Thursdays.

I’ve been a fan of Falls City beer for quite some time. What I didn’t know is the same good people who make one of my favorite beers also make wine. So when my Wife stated she wanted to do a tasting, I was all for it. The Brewery is located in a beautiful old building just west of Downtown. To get to the bar you have to go through a little gift shop area that sells everything from T-shirts to beer glasses. I had no time for such things. I wanted to get my drink on. The tasting is a bargain. Five glasses of beer for $ 5. My Wife got seven glasses of wine for $ 7. You can’t beat that deal with a stick. The English Pale Ale is still my favorite of the Falls City beers, but I came away with a new respect for their dark IPA. I may pick up a spack(6-pack) the next time I’m at the Liquor store. If you’re a weekend Lush like I am, you owe it to yourself to do some damage to your liver at the Old 502 Winery. My Wife and I both had a wonderful time.

Wine tasting was great you get generous pours and a free 502 winery glass glass! Bourbon barrel red is the most amazing ever! They also have falls city beer tasting which was freaking awesome! 5 bucks 5 beers not in shooter glasses I’m guessing 12 oz each maybe?! We did both wine and beer tasting!

The open brick design really make this place modern. The wine is not very conventional, however, wine that taste like bourbon! Yumm!

My mom and I stopped into Old 502 winery on a weekend in Lousiville with a bachelorette group — when we had the afternoon to ourselves. I had done a little research to find a place to go for a couple hours and found out this place had a bourbon barrel red!(I had an amazing bourbon barrel red at Wildside Winery near Lexington last year). Unfortunately they were out of it when we went to Old 502, which is the only reason the place gets 4 stars. We did both a 7-wine tasting for 7 $ and a 4-beer tasting for 1 $! The girl who did our tasting was so sweet and offered us a extra pours to make up for the lack of bourbon barrel wine; she could tell I was disappointed. The wines were overall just OK, I did buy one bottle(White Noise a dry-ish Riesling). There are also tables where a group can come and sit and have a wine tasting which looks fun, though one of the groups was obnoxious. You can see where they make the wine through large windows in the tasting room. All in all a must stop if you are hanging around 4th street live/downtown Lousiville-hopefully they get more bourbon barrel red in stock!

I have not visited the location, but I met the guys at Flea Off and they were super nice. They were patient in explaining their selections, knowing that I was a wine novice. My friends and I really enjoyed the bottle of Riesling that I got. I plan on reserving the last star for when I actually get to visit.

Wait, wait, did you know that it is no longer just a winery — a new guy’s in town(or very old, actually, from 1905 to be exact) — FALLSCITYJUSTSHACKEDUPWITH502WINERY!!! And what a beautiful couple they make. All I gotta say is that big things are coming for Falls City. Try the Bourbon Barrel Red. Then buy a growler of it. Then bring the growler to me please.

Did you say wine slushies? Yes– you did! I’ll try them all please:) That’s right, the bartender at Old 502 Winery introduced me to slushies made from their Bach’s wine and their Rose. It was a really hot day and as much as I love red wine, the thought of drinking it in 90 degree blazing sun was not appealing. Slushies made with wine though… BRINGITON! They were delicious. Not overly sweet and super flavorful. What a great idea. I bought the wine and the mix to blend my own. I went back to Old 502 on another evening while trolley hopping and did the full tasting. I tried 6 wines for $ 5 and got to keep the cool wine glass. I enjoyed each wine but my favorites were the Bourbon Barrel Red and the Riesling. I am not usually a sweet wine drinker, but i found these to be semi-sweet with a nice finish. Just to make sure I really liked their wine– I did another full tasting during Waterfront Wednesday for $ 1. What a bargain. At this point, I have become a regular at Old 502 and they know me by name.

Loved the experience! It is a gem in the middle of downtown Louisville! They make all of their own wine and put a twist on the traditional winery experience. We will definitely go back again!

Wait a minute… it was Wednesday and I swear that I never left town but landed in Napa… well maybe not but 10th street and some damn good local wine was worth the illusion for me. Louisvillians you have got to get to this cute little winery in our lovely downtown. Share a tasting or buy a bottle and sit and enjoy the afternoon while contemplating where to go for dinner:) Wine has catchy names that will leave you impressed with the local inventiveness that Louisville is now offering. Don’t be bored, rather drink yourself into oblivion with Bore Dough!!!

Chocolate Decadence was my favorite wine here. Five dollars will get you four wine samples. We tried the Chocolate Decadence, Meritage, Bourbon Barrel Red, and the Riesling. The Meritage was a dry red and it was pretty good. We liked the Riesling also. It wasn’t too sweet. The Bourbon Barrel Red was good but I could never drink much of it because it was too sweet for my taste. It made we wish I liked sweet wine because you could definitely taste that it was aged in a bourbon barrel. The Chocolate Decadence was the star for me. Godiva chocolate in a dry red wine. What could you not like? We bought a bottle of Riesling and a bottle of Chocolate Decadence. They were $ 10 each. I will have to try their other wines on the next visit.
