History

Established in 1979.

The company was founded in 1979 by Janet and Duff Thrasher with the mission to provide value to its customers, and a fair, stable workplace for its employees. During its early years, the Thrashers operated the business out of their home, first in Santa Clara and later in Los Gatos. By 1996, the success and growth of the company led to the construction of the company’s current Los Gatos headquarters and warehouse. From this facility, the company’s territory has grown to encompass residential, commercial, industrial and hospitality customers throughout Silicon Valley. Janet Thrasher continues to operate the Los Gatos branch of the company.

Janet Thrasher is a Santa Clara Valley District Director of Pest Control Operators of California (PCOC); member of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), 2012 recipient of the QualityPro designation for excellence in pest management, and 2011 Affiliate of the Year by the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors. She has over thirty five years of experience in pest management and holds an operator’s license with the Structural Pest Control Board of California.

It’s never happy times when you have to call Thrasher but they make it as painless as possible. They are prompt, professional and honest. I’ve had them do several different quotes for me over time and I can assure you, their operation is a well-​oiled machine. And when I had a scheduling conflict with another contractor, they were happy to problem-​solve with me and did everything they could to make it all work. Fantastic company. Highly recommend.

Thrasher rep came to give a inspection, the inspection was done in two minutes; then he said someone from exterminator will call and measure how much will cost for a full service. Thrasher is supposed Diamond certified company, but in my experience they should be copper certified.

Sometimes the best way to know what you are getting from a company is to see how they treat other people in their business dealings. Though I (knock wood) don’t personally have a pest problem, I’ve dealt with Janet on a number of occasions. While being a no nonsense business woman, she is clearly interested in her customers best interests. Nice to know someone who walks the walk!

GREAT COMPANY! We needed a small job done on very short notice, and had just gotten cancelled by Dewey Pest Control when their ONE guy called in sick, so I called several other companies (Kennedy Pest Control, Willis, Twin Termite, Dewey) and all of them quoted me DOUBLE what Thrasher did, so we chose them! The entire team is so professional, they were so helpful, Claudia in the office got me an appointment the next day, Josh did a free inspection, and Ver was the nicest, most professional person I’ve ever had in my house to do any work. He explained the process again to me, showed me where he was going to do the work, asked if I had any questions, and followed up after the job was complete. I cannot say enough about this company, if you have termites and need a reliable honest job done, this is who to call!

This is a really great company. We just made one call, the inspector — Mr Travis Linane came to our house next day for a free inspection. We thought he would just take a simple look at our house and give the price for fumigation and repairing the roof right away. We were so surprised: He checked our house very carefully and even drew a map to show the exact spots damaged by termites and water. Mr Linane was such an expert. We learned a lot from him about termites and how to control these tiny bad «guys». The next day we received an email from Thrasher Termite & Pest Control attached with a detail report and the price for fixing our roof after the fumigation. Wow, all these — free! From Mr Linane’s working attitude and his office’s quick response, you can see this is a great company — they take their customers so serious.

5 stars for this outstanding local company who charge one price for the whole job. Beware the others who want to charge you per trap that they lay or per rodent that they catch. Thrasher was cheaper then all of them, put lots of traps down, caught a number of rodents and advised on sealing the holes in the roof. Kelly was knowledgable and efficient and kept coming to the house until the job was done. 5 stars for this company!

We had decided to get our house tented and had heard good things about Thrasher. I called and connected with Janet Thrasher. She was a pleasure to work with, got everything scheduled quickly. The bid came in fast and was reasonable, the work was scheduled out in 10 days and subcontracted to a very reliable termite service who did an outstanding job. Thrasher also cam in and took out a few yellow-​jacket nests early in the morning. Very professional, no hassle, great prices, professional staff. Don’t hesitate. Five thumbs up.

We used Thrasher for termite inspection, termite treatment, and pest inspection.
The termite inspector, Wally, was very thorough and able to get into very tight spaces in the attic and crawlspace. The written report he gave was clear with cost estimates, severity, and even a map of all the issues. The one downside was that he didn’t include any pictures in the report, but he was able to visually point out problem areas that didn’t involve the crawlspace and attic.
The pest inspector, Miguel, did our pest inspection. He checked the exterior for possible entry points including holes in crawlspace mesh, underneath exterior walls, and areas near doors and windows. Overall, he only found one small hole near the garage, which he patched up for free using some steel wool. He did not get on the roof nor did he go in the attic, so he was not able to inspect pest entry points from up top. Understandable for a free estimate.
We had a subterranean termite problem due to previous contractors leaving wood debris and other trash in the crawlspace, as well as carpenter bees boring holes in an arbor. David and one of his colleagues came by to cleanup the area and spray it down. Throughout the process, they explained what work they were going to do, and made an effort to not soil the floor as they were hauling debris out of the crawlspace. However, they did miss a few holes in the arbor that had carpenter bees in them, particularly the hard to see ones that were close to the home. (Well, no one’s perfect.)
Lastly, their office staff was very responsive and professional. Overall excellent service, and we’d likely use them again for inspections and termites.

I requested an inspection after another termite company said I had subterranean termites. Doug Thrasher came out and thoroughly inspected the area. He broke apart the suspect piece of wood, and stated I did NOT have termite infestation. He and his colleague carefully explained what to look for in an infestation – which I did NOT have. The team than cleaned out leftover wood debris, and used preventative spray on an area of immoveable wood debris that was wedged into concrete – leftover wood forms from concrete work.
Thrasher came highly recommended from a Los Gatos property management company as a reliable and professional. I absolutely agree, and am pleased to have found such a trustworthy organization.

Thrasher Termite is one company that I recommend without hesitation. (…and I don’t say that about very many service companies.)
It comes down to this: Everybody wants the job to be done right, every time — the customer wants it; the vendor wants it. Thrasher sent out a team to do fumigate my detached garage — a relatively small job for them, but an important job to me.
Long story short:
I’ve never used this company before, and that always makes me nervous. I chose Thrasher because I’d heard good things about them, and because they bid a very small job as-​is, for a very reasonable fee. The team they sent to do the job showed up as scheduled, and executed very efficiently.
There was a small issue, which I brought to Thrasher’s attention, and they addressed it head-​on. No long, involved resolution process — the issue was resolved quickly, and definitely to my satisfaction.

Called for an inspection after having another pest service determine that there were rat mites in and around the property. I met with Arturo who’s incredibly down-​to-​earth and takes the time to answer any and all questions. After half an hour of inspecting the house and answering questions, it was determined that there were no rodent issues to be concerned about so their services would not be required. Yet, even then, he took the time to give me a detailed list of preemptive and preventative measures.
As it stands, I would definitely recommend their inspection services.

I did not actually use their services. I just called on the phone for some advice. I ended up talking to the kind person for about 20 minutes about a pest problem I was having and if the landlord should be involved.
Thanks to the advice of Thrasher Pest I was able to get my landlord to take care of the problem 100%.

Thrasher went above and beyond the call of duty throughout our entire interaction with them and we would highly recommend them for any inspections or work.
Long story short, while we were in the process of purchasing our first house, we had a different termite company omit some very important information from its termite report (rotten sub-​flooring, rotten cross-​beam, etc.). We contracted with Thrasher to do the work, instead of the company that did the report, because they came very highly recommended.
I can’t even begin to explain how glad we are we went with this recommendation. Not only did they successfully tent our new home for termites, but they also found the error in the first report, and did a wonderful job repairing our rotten post and termite-​ridden door-​frames. Lastly, and most importantly, they came in made sure all the work was done correctly after the first company made such a blatant error.
Throughout the entire process, Janet Thrasher was honest, forthcoming and flexible while we took the first company to task. Her integrity, and that of her company, were apparent throughout this entire process and we are so thankful we had the pleasure to work with them. We would highly recommend Thrasher for any termite-​related work, and special thanks to Scott for helping us through this process as well!

We recently worked with Scott Martin one of the inspectors at Thrasher Termite and Pest Control for the pest inspection. Scott was extremely knowledgeable of where to look for pests and moisture damage in the home. His inspection of the interior, bathrooms, exterior areas and the crawlspace was thorough. Afterward, Scott took his time explaining all his findings and answering questions. He was very patient and a good communicator. The report was detailed and outlined all the areas that needed attention. Our experience with Scott left us confident that we understood the conditions in the home.
We think Scott did a great job and will recommend him to our friends and family when they are in need of a termite inspection.

My problem: Bed bugs
Their service: 5 stars
Their expertise: 1 stars
The good: The technician (Arturo) who was assigned my job is an incredibly nice guy. He’s very porfessional, was able to identify common minor house pets, and patiently answered all of the questions I had about how he was going to treat my place. I enjoyed working with Arturo because he was honest and open about what he knew.
The ok: I was quoted $ 250 for 30 days of service. The price was decent, so I thought I would chem bomb the hell out of my place and be rid of the bugs. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t schedule me more often than every 2 – 2.5 weeks… giving me two treatments in 30 days. I squeezed them for a third one, because i was still getting bed bug bites. At least they gave it to me.
The bad: I quickly learned that, although Thrasher happily took my job (and my money), they knew nothing about bed bugs. In my conversation with the technician, he was nice, but I could tell that I knew more about bed bugs from my internet research, than he did. In fact, my technician was sent to a bed bug training workshop in the middle of my treatment (which meant he wasn’t available for a week, while I was trying to rid my place of bed bugs!).
The result: The technician’s instructions were that I could return to my condo after 4 hours and air out the place. But after 2 treatments, the bugs were still there biting me. After the third treatment, I left my place sealed for 2 weeks. When I came back, they bugs were gone (I think).
Consolation: I think the technician knew that my job was a guinea pig job for his company, so he offered to come again, without additional fees, to make sure that the bugs were really gone. I appreciated his offer. Thankfully, after sealing up my condo for 2 weeks with the chemicals he sprayed the third time, the bugs have gone (knock on wood).
Summary: The technician was great. Thrasher now knows something about treating bed bugs. I didn’t like being their guinea pig for bed bug treatment, but can grudgingly understand that someone has to be first, and I was the stuckee. At least the bed bugs are gone.
