Terry’s Tree Service

After several months of struggling to deal with another tree service company, who once were reliable but no longer are, I decided to give Terry’s a change, based on the reviews here. Looking back on the experience, I cannot think of anything that they could have done better! They were very responsive to my contacts, updated me regularly on their efforts to find the specific trees that I requested, and any issues that came up. The installer showed up just when he said he would, and completed installation of both trees in less than one hour.
They had initially quoted a price for the two trees, assuming a certain size of tree package; based on my previous experiences, I felt the price was quite competitive. However, one of the trees that they found was smaller than they originally were searching for, so they substantially dropped their quote — though the labor to install was not significantly different! That surprised and pleased me, and confirmed my already 5-​star opinion of them.
I am looking forward to doing business with them again.

Terry has attitude problem and treating customer like $hit. 1 – 0 star.
When working crew showed up, there was little dispute about what’s written in the estimate paper and what I discussed with Terry.
Basically when I asked about trimming a tree from roof line, whether the quote is including balancing the tree or not.
I requested the crew member to call Terry about clarification.
Terry remembered our discussion differently.
That would be understandable. While the conversation was on-​going and connected Terry via woki toki, crew member did courteously explained me that they must go with what’s written in paper if there is dispute. I agreed.
The problem is how Terry was reacting. He simply asked the crew to leave the job and go to other emergency job.
He was dissing me to his crews why I’m making such problem when he provided good price and discount.
I have never seen such behavior from a business owner.
I was just totally shocked and speechless by his reaction. The crew member was trying to calming down Terry and there was no problem and they will just do the job.
Crew member even offered me little extra work on the disputed tree to make me happy.
Big kudos to the crew member who’s actually working like the owner and trying to make customer happy.
Terry should learn how to treat customer from his crew member.

Had Terry’s remove front yard tree and grind stump and roots. Crew did a great job! Had 3 bids prior to the job, Terrys was the best price by far.

I’m beyond happy with Terrys Tree service! They exceed my expectations every time. I’ve had them here about 4 times in the past seven years. Their crew is always polite and speedy. They know how to create a natural look and thin the trees and bushes instead of butchering them — only to watch them grow back fuller and out of balance. My trees are an investment in my house value and a constant source of beauty outside my windows. My neighbor hired a bargain service for a huge redwood on our lot line and it looked awful for three years! Frankly it still looks awful! I’d hire Terrys team if I could — but luckily it’s in a spot where I don’t see it too much.

Just wanted to leave a short note to thank Steve for his small but outsized act of kindness yesterday. Besides responding to a request for a simple quote, he decided to help a person in need address a growing problem, unsolicited, by providing valuable advice.
Even though Terry’s Tree Service didn’t get the business – the job wasn’t big enough – I hope a public thank you for wonderful service, even to a non-​customer, in Unilocal means more for this business than a private token of appreciation.

I paid Terry’s Tree Service $ 400 to remove a dead shrub and some branches on a redwood tree. They left behind about 2 feet of debris all around the area they had worked in, including some branches they had sawed off. I contacted them and they claimed the debris was already there before they started their work (including the newly sawn branches, I guess) and they would come back and clean up for another $ 400. Some customer focus! Well, needless to say, I will not be using their business again nor recommending it to my neighbors.

Terry’s Tree Service did a great job on our trees. They know what they are doing and thinned out the very large oak tree beautifully as well as our fruitless mulberry’s — (pruned not pollard). A large crew showed up and everyone worked as a team. This was our first time with them after leaving a company who used to do our trees for the past 12 years… wish I had called them sooner!

Just a little update… the company graciously was ok with coming back to my place (free of charge) to clear down the mountain of debris left from the grinding. It looks exactly as I expected it to. Thank you guys for going above and beyond with this… I look forward to recommending your services in any way I can. :)

I had some tree work performed by Terry’s Tree Service and they quoted me to trim the trees and haul away the debris. Why did they completely fill up my gardening trash can with tree branches?
They also called me and asked for payment twice and when I told them I mailed their check, they admitted to me that they hadn’t checked their mailbox all week.
I don’t understand why both things happened and probably would not recommend them.

I contacted Terry’s Tree Service last week. Yesterday, Steve stopped by and gave me an estimate that I believed to be fair. I decided to look no further and contracted them to take care of my tree issue. This afternoon a tree crew showed up and completed the job. They were professional and went right to work following the directions on the estimate. When they were done my property was as clean as before they arrived. All the trimming and sawdust was removed. I would recommend Terry’s Tree Service for your tree needs. John

Terry’s Tree Service was excellent. They provided a competitive bid to trim two very large pine trees (60 feet tall) and gave a discount as well. They promptly showed up on the date and time promised to do the work. «Little» Juan’s crew was professional and safety minded. Hard hats, tie-​offs and safety cones were used. Large limbs were roped off and lowered. Great care was taken to minimize the damage to my shrubs beneath the trees. Potted plants and lighting were removed to prevent damage. Clean up was to my satisfaction as they racked and used a blower to collect all small debris from the lawn, sidewalks, planter areas and driveway after the trimming was completed. They even cleaned the street where their truck and shredder were parked. Total time on site was only 3 hours! They were fast and efficient. I would highly recommend them. Alan of San Ramon

We were not impressed with the service and will not be using them again. I could not communicate with any of the works. I tried to tell them we wanted wood chips from the tree branches. They said they would come back to deliver them. They never did. They didn’t leave any kind of a receipt. Just came to the door for the check and left. They finished the job in under and hour and we couldn’t tell they had done much tree pruning. We phoned and they said they would come back the next day to cut more. They never did. Not impressed at all. Would not recommend.

After getting 4 bids I went with Terry’ Tree Service to remove a 40 – 50 foot sycamore tree from my front yard. Everyone I worked with was very friendly and able to answer all of my questions. The crew was on time and had the tree removed in less than an hour… it was quite impressive. I had to leave before the show was over and when i got home i was impressed to find that the guys and gal had cleaned the street, sidewalk and my yard all up and left it cleaner than when they got there. I highly recommend this company.

They just did a job at my house and I’m very glad I went with them. The whole process was quick and easy. When I reached out to several tree services for job estimates, they were the first to actually send someone out, and they provided the lowest estimate. And they were able to schedule the work earliest and get it done the fastest. I was mainly doing removals and just some basic trimming, so their bid made the most sense. The crew arrived on time, trimmed 2 trees, and removed another 3 in about 2 hours total. They sent a large crew so multiple trees were being worked on at the same time. The stump grinder came in the afternoon on the same day to take care of the stumps and everything was done and cleaned up in less than 5 hours. Will definitely reach out to them again for tree services in the future.

Yep — these guys are legit as well.

This company just did a job at a neighbors house. They had my driveway blocked all afternoon and when I asked them to move so I could leave, it appeared to be a huge imposition. I had to do a 15 point turn to get out of my driveway. During their clean up, they went through the neighbors yard with a leaf blower, blowing twigs, leaves and debri into my yard, porch, driveway, bark landscaping and the street in front of my house. I asked them if they could clean it up and the guy working the blower stared me down. He went through my yard and just blew everything in a different area of my yard and damaged a plant. My side yard also has tree trimmings that need to be cleaned up. It doesn’t help matters that I just spent my day off earlier this week raking leaves and trimming hedges. I called the number that was on their truck. The guy who answered said it was an emergency job. The tree they worked on was an old oak tree that had a large limb break off…3 days ago. That’s some emergency response. He offered to have someone come back and clean up.
Too late.
These guys are inconsiderate.
Not sure if the neighbor has noticed the damage they did to his gutters, or how he feels about them knocking his phone service out.

Yesterday was the second time we hired Terry’s Tree Service and ended up being 100% satisfied.
Terry came by last week to give us a quote. I scheduled an appointment on Monday and Tuesday afternoon a large team with a huge truck showed up and pruned our apple trees and lowered a Juniper plant. It looks super.
The crew was very professional and really friendly. They make you feel at ease and simply take care of things.
Last time, they pruned a bunch of very high trees, gave us good advice on trees close to your roof and even remembered us yesterday, although it had been a few years.
Thanks Terry’s Tree Service. I recommend you whole-​heartedly.

In an effort to make our backyard look more like a backyard instead of a huge dirt pit, our first order of business was removing 4 trees and a few stumps. The main tree we wanted to remove was so huge that it was a heritage tree and needed a permit. As much as I like trees, this one was wreaking havoc and damaging fences and skylights by dropping huge branches frequently.
I received a few bids and the thing that sold me on Terry’s was the man power. Another company quoted it as a 3 day job and I knew my spoiled dogs would not be happy not having access to their yard for 3 days. Terry’s gave us a good quote and was willing to work with us on the method of payment.
We set up the day for the tree removals and everything went smoothly from there. It’s a little scary to watch them bring down this tree without a lot of space, but they did it with no damage to anything. They were cleaned up and done by 5. The workers as well as the ladies who work in the office were great with answering questions before the job.
I don’t expect to be planting any more annoying giant trees anytime soon, but if I were to I wouldn’t hesitate to call Terry’s again.
