I have over 15 years of experience in the tree business — first starting out as a ground man with a well known company here in San Diego. I soon found that I liked trimming trees the best so I’ve taken what I’ve learned and started Charles Tree Service.

I am a native of San Diego, and I have been very fortunate and glad to have grown up here. I have always known that I could be a successful person in life, but I had no idea that I would one day have my own tree business. This blessing has given me the opportunity to enjoy my work in life. I take pride in all the work I do and every tree I work with.

Charles came out quickly to bid on a large Brazilian pepper tree removal. I felt comfortable immediately. His price was very fair. We agreed to do the work and within a couple days the tree was gone. His team was very friendly and professional. It required stump grinding on a slope and they got it done. Definitely would use them again and highly recommend them.

–This post is long overdue, my apologies.
Charles and his team did a job for us back in November when a pool flood caused our huge California pepper tree’s roots to decay and die out. In addition to that, the soil softened up and the tree fell over (on our neighbors shed). After calling around in a panic trying to find somebody to remove it before it crushes the neighbors property, as it was merely «standing» on a small branch, we couldn’t be happier when we found Charles, and he was available in a day or so (couldn’t remember exact time frame but no more than 2 days).
His team were right on time on the date agreed on, were very friendly and got the job done, all within a reasonable price. Thanks again Charles and team!

Charles tree service is awesome! I called Charles and he personally came to my property that day to give me a quote. He was so courteous, professional, and extremely reasonable. Him and his crew showed up the next day and removed a giant tree for me that had several variables. They did such an incredible job. I just can’t say enough about fantastic experience. I needed my front yard tree trimmed because it was getting out of control and dropping a lot of purple crap on my front yard. My back yard tree was also out of control and branches were going into my neighbor’s yard. I called Charles to get a quote and he was able to come by same day and give me a quote. He was able to trim both trees the following day. Everything turned out great! Thank you!

I found Charles on Unilocal and gave him a call. He was very professional and friendly and was able to schedule me in for tree removal right away. His team did fast work of removing two large trees and grinding down the stumps. After they were done you couldn’t even tell a tree had been there before. They cleaned up the area and left no debris. I highly recommend Charles and will definitely be giving him a call when I’m ready to have a large palm trimmed.

I called Charles Tree Service to get assistance with a palm tree. Mr. Charles was very fast with making the assessment that the tree was not dead and promptly provided me a written estimate of the work and cost. He came as scheduled with his crew and came through as promised. They did an outstanding job pruning the tree and cleaning up. I highly recommend this company for any tree service you may need. Extremely professional and very nice. He was heaven sent when I needed him. I will definitely use his service in the future!!! Thank you again!!!

Fantastic service and speedy workers! I called for a quote on a Monday, Charles came out to bid that afternoon, and he had his huge crew and equipment out to my residence by early evening to complete my tree work. I am so happy to get the job done by such a professional crew. The prices are reasonable and Charles is quite reliable! I know I’ll be calling this company back when i need tree work done in the future.

Contacted Charles about a tree trimming quote on 2−25−16. We set up a time for Sunday 2−28−16 for him to come which he did with his young daughter. He left and said he’d get back to me with a quote in the next couple of days. On 3 – 2 I called and he said he’d get back to me. I called again on 3 – 9 and he said I’d get a quote that night. He never followed through to give me a quote and a short time later called me to refer me to another trimmer.
Rather that come out and waste my time it would have been more professional to say he was to busy right now to take on any more jobs if that was the case. Can’t say anything good because there was anything good to say about my experience dealing with Charles.

Amazing job! Had a rough start getting our schedules to match but Charles and his guys showed up early with everything to get the job done right. Trimmed 2 huge eucalyptus trees, removed one eucalyptus and one other giant tree, removed 4 stumps and trimmed around 7 other trees as per my request. They worked non stop the whole time and were very professional and all around good guys. The price came in a few hundred dollars below what we were expecting and worth every penny. I have already started recommending these guys to my coworkers and will continue recommending them in the future. Thanks again Charles!

When I sent my message through Unilocal!,Charles’ Tree Service replied almost right away. An appointment was setup for the weekend. Charles didn’t call when anticipated, but did call a bit later to explain he was unable to call. He indicated he would be over shortly and was. He provided a very reasonable bid for removal of 5 queen palms.
We sought other bids and they were all close, but Charles’ Tree Service was the best price and they could start quickly. They got the job.
We had a few other miscommunications before they arrived, but when Charles’ team did come, they came in force. The crew arrived, quickly set to work, and the job was finished before we knew it. The job site was cleaned up well, the work was done as expected and without any issues. They took the time to clean up my neighbors’ yards as well, which was greatly appreciated.
I would recommend Charles’ Tree Service without hesitation. They are professional, courteous, and work quickly to get the job done right.

I have to say that Charles impressed me so much with his courtesy and his honest bid. We had him come out to give an estimate for trimming a large Chinese elm we have in our front yard, and he was punctual and polite. He gave an honest bid and we got a little break, too, because we are senior citizens, and that was much appreciated.
Even though we did not go with Charles for the job, I was so impressed with him that I wanted to write this review. You can be sure that I’ll keep his name/​phone # in my file!

Charles and his crew did an excellent job in a timely fashion. Charles is a pleasant person to deal with and it was a pleasure to have him on my property. His price for removal of three trees was lower than those I received from 4 other licensed contractors.

We got three quotes to remove a large oak tree from the back yard that was close to the house. Charles responded quickly and scheduled a time to come see the job. His estimate was far lower than his competitors, so we hired him.
He and his crew were professional and efficient. They did an amazing job with clean up, too. Except for the fact that the giant tree is gone from the yard, you wouldn’t know they were here. Will be sure to contact Charles first for any future tree work. Highly recommended!!!

You are not going to find a better value. These guys show up with a smile, work their tails off, clean up a like a butler and disappear into the night.
Bid them out. They were consistently 10%-13% less expensive with incredible customer service behind.
They’re going to be my ONLY go to going forward for all things tree maintenance.

When a winter storm caused a palm tree to fall on the house, Charles and his crew were fast to respond. They made my property safe within just a few hours and had the tree removed in just a couple of days. They were timely, professional, and did the work at a better than fair price.

El Niño in San Diego wasn’t good to our back yard. It blew over a tree, and with a kid at home, that could have caused problems.
I called Charles Tree Service and they came out within the hour to give us a quote. It was quick and fair. I shopped prices and they were the best I could find.
They made an appointment same day and now it’s gone within 24 hours of the tree falling. I wasn’t home when they were doing the removal, but Robert came back to get the check and he was on his way.
It was the perfect situation. Timely, professional, and above all they did an amazing job. The tree left a pretty decent hole in the back yard and they even filled in the hole. The little details really matter. I felt like I was a priority.
I hope I never need a tree service again, but if I do, I know who I will be using!
