VooDoo Zip Line

I found this deal on Groupon. $ 60 for 2 people. It included a GoPro vid saved in an SD card. Pretty good deal right?
My cousin and I went and did the ziplining on our trip to Vegas. We went to Rio at the Rooftop club they have and waited for our turn to zipline. They were doing some maintenance before we went and we were the first one to go. I really didnt know what to expect. It was pretty scary when youre waiting on top as they launch you because it makes all these noise. It goes pretty fast on the first 3seconds, but it wasnt as bad as I thought. As soon as you get the the other end, it stops for a bit and then goes reverse.
We did the ziplining during night time and the view was spectacular! It was fun, but it was quick.
They offer a free use of lockers so you can leave all loose things you may have. Also, they show you pictures of yourself as you go on the zipline, you choose with one you want and I think they sell it for $ 10, Im not so sure.

Definitely not a zip line, they should call it something else. It’s not a freefall but is very obviously a controlled descent. You’re strapped into a seat so it’s harder to see around you. I just wasn’t impressed and greatly preferred the one on Fremont street. It’s not as high, but at least it’s a real zipline.

Beautiful, beautiful view from the strip from the top of the Rio Hotel at night! Seeing the entire city lit up was breathtaking! The price of the zipline is really reasonable too if you’re local (your friend will also get the local discount). As far as the zipline ride itself, it was seriously terrifying! My friend and I did this on a whim one Sunday night. It was great there was no line but honestly I’m concerned about the safety of this thing. The seat is shallow and there’s only a seat belt to keep you in place (no bar to hold you back). The guy who put on my seat belt latched it really loosely so I felt like I could fall out at any moment during the ride :/​It was extremely terrifying — I was shaky afterwards. My friend thought it was terrifying too. I went skydiving a couple months prior and this was way scarier than that. This zipline is def. only meant for adrenaline junkies who don’t hold their life dear: P Also, the photo quality of the picture from the zipline was really poor — had to use a photo editor once I got home just so I could sort of make out the details. Overall, the best part of the zipline was the amazing view before you get on the ride, plus, it is a very unique experience to be able to share!

This was a very high up zipline, but you are seated and buckled in, so all and all not that scary.

We had a great time! We came early on a Friday. We were the 2^nd run of the day. The guys running the rides and fastening visitors into the seats were friendly and joked with us, which put me at ease. They have 2 seat belts they strap across your lap. I was surprised that your feet hang freely during the ride. As we flew across to the other building, I started to wonder what the landing was going to feel like. A ram jack catches the chair, slowing you down to a stop. You will hear the loud sound of the air going through the jack. After that the adrenaline kicks in and you start moving backwards toward the start. Then when we got back we told the guys that was really awesome and they said, «Want to go again?» YES! So we got to go a second time for free! What a rush.
The Groupon we bought was for the VIP Package and was totally worth it. The video turned out great. My husband looked so nervous! Rightfully so considering it is 450 ft off the ground or 41 floors up. It was a blast. We will definitely go again. It would be fun to go when the nightclub is open to use the free drink tickets!
Tips: Be prepared to empty your pockets and store your purse and belongings in a locker before going on the ride. You have to wear eyeglass lanyards (croakies) or store your glasses. Thank goodness they sell some at the register.

Not an actual Zip Line, maybe a Zip Line for wusses (though a few cases of acrophobia presented while we waited our turn) There’s nice views of the whole valley up there.
Like many things in life, it goes too fast, then drags you backwards. Heard there’s a locals deal, but I was with friends from NY who were in «convention mode» so, I didn’t pay.
More of an amusement park ride IMO than anything else. Wouldn’t go out of my way to go there, but I’m a adrenaline junkie, might appeal to others more. People were screaming bloody murder like they were cliff diving: THAT I enjoyed :)

Okay… I’ve NEVER zip-​lined but have bungee jumped and gone sky diving… Sort of an adrenaline junkie… But I am terrified of heights. Like, walking towards the edge of any balcony makes me feel dizzy and like I have vertigo… But that’s a little bit of the fun for me.
Being a native Las Vegan, I really enjoyed this for something fun and different locals can do. The line wasn’t too long at all and we went on a Thursday. You get to listen to all the fun old hip hop jams of the 90s and 00s pouring over from the voodoo lounge. I personally thought the bouncers who let you in from the club were nice. But my BF apparently thought one was a little impatient and rude to him… I had to tell him to relax. I think it’s a ‘club’ thing… But it didn’t bother me.
Anyways… I read other reviews saying this wasn’t a ‘typical zip line’ but it was more like a ‘ski chair’. OKAY… I am not the largest person but the ski lift barely covered my entire rear and the only thing strapping you in is a cloth seat belt with plastic clip. Most people might find this upsetting… But to me it heightened the scary factor. As soon as you’re strapped in… You get lifted up and are literally eye level to the top rooms at the rio. That’s when my immense fear of heights kicked in. Then it zooms you down at 30 MPH (20 MPH coming back up), and my legs dangling over he specks of cars below made me ALMOST lose my stomach. Which is an adrenaline feeling I crave… But I closed my eyes and held on for dear life.
Before the ride back up… You get jerked like up and down and had my BF not told me to hold extra tight at the bottom… I would have been so scared because my body would have flopped all over. But, coming back up. You stay seated forward so you are traveling backwards… And it’s just really great and exhilarating… I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and paid for 2 pictures. I know people see these pics as scams… But I never look through my iPhone years later the way I find my old souvenir pictures I collect from all these places.
Way to go voodoo zip line! I had an awesome time. (I think this would be so much fun to do in a big group… And if there is a cheaper way to keep riding over and over so one can ride a few times and get more worth out of the entire ordeal. That would be great.
I’m a nut about the scariest roller coasters and the scariest rides. But this isn’t here to scare the crap out of you, necessarily. I believe it is to marvel in the wonderful views of the strip, and feel absolutely exhilarated. Well done !!

Meh. It was alright. Not sure it was really worth it, though. I suppose it’s cool to do once. It’s not actually a zipline, it’s more like a ski lift chair. You ride two at a time strapped into the chair. You ride down and then come back backwards. Not that great during the day — probably better a night when you can see all the lights.
We paid and signed the waiver down at the booth in the casino. Tip: Be sure to ask for the locals discount. There’s also a Total Rewards discount. We were then told to take the elevator and look for someone in a white shirt. But the white shirt guy wasn’t there, so we went into the store. Then figured out we didn’t need to wait in that line and followed another couple to another elevator. There are lockers by that elevator. $ 6 for a small locker. Don’t pay for a locker here. Once you get to the zipline, they’ll put all your belongings in a locker for you for free.
After getting off the second elevator, we were inside the Voodoo nightclub and walked out onto the roof. We then walked down the stairs to another booth and were put into a line to board the zipline. The signage was severely lacking and the staff didn’t give good directions on where to go.
After stashing the rest of our stuff in the free locker, we were instructed on where to sit and strapped in. Be sure to take off your flip flips or any shoes that could slip off. We then were lifted up and went down the zipline. It wasn’t all that fast. The neatest then was flying over the pool area. It was quite quick and short. It’s an easy ride and not scary at all.
I was underwhelmed by the experience. The Fremont zipline was definitely much better. Glad we did it, but it wasn’t really worth the cost. Again, probably a lot better at night.

Came here with 5 other people in January. We had a travelzoo deal which gave us 50% and included a picture.
The front desk is located by the seafood buffet. The lady at the counter was very nice and even gave one of my friends a discount since she didn’t have a travelzoo deal. You have to take an elevator and go through the bar to get to the zipline area.
The view is excellent and you can see almost everything. The zipline is very safe. They don’t let you take anything onto the zipline. They strap you on and they take pictures of you. This is awesome because you’re going in between buildings but it only lasts a few seconds!
I am not sure I would do it if I had to pay the full price. It’s definitely something I would only do once because the ride is so short and pretty expensive if you do not have some sort of coupon.

I’ve never been ziplining before so didn’t have anything to compare it to but I thought the zipline experience was just okay. The people were nice and luckily there wasn’t a line and my group and I were able to go right in. There isn’t a drop and it is very motorized so the ride is smooth. You go across to another building then you return backwards to where you started. We found a deal on groupon. It was okay but I would not do it again.

Fun experience, but as another reviewer mentioned, it’s important to manage expectations.
Comments:
1. The zip line runs between the Rio’s two towers, which spans a good distance, but the ride itself seems surprisingly short.
2. The view from the 51^st floor is spectacular, but from the actual zip-​line chairs (similar to a ski lift), it somehow seems less spectacular.
3. The best analogy I can make is to riding a high-​speed chairlift, but going down rather than up the mountain.
Service: Friendly, albeit somewhat mechanical.
Important Tip: You’ll need straps for your eyeglasses, which you can purchase at the front desk on the 2^nd floor. However, they forgot to tell me this when I purchased my tickets … luckily, they had some random straps upstairs on the 51^st floor which I was able to use.

Worth the cost!!!

We didn’t get a chance to ride the elevator with the view since security hadn’t turn it on. Had to take the service elevator all the way up and back!

I highly suggest you read this review because it may contain useful information for you, especially at the bottom of this review. Luckily I read another person’s review and that saved me from going home and being greatly disappointed.
Thanks to a bunch of Unilocalers, when I asked for what I should do for my fourth anniversary with my boyfriend, several suggested zip-​lining and that’s something in my bucketlist! Took a bit of convincing to get my boyfriend to agree but once he did, we got a good deal on Groupon: $ 60 for a ride for 2, free GoPro video, buy one get one free photo, drinks, etc.. After purchasing the Groupon deal, I called to see if we had to set a specific time to come and was told to just show when we want to ride, so away we went!
It was fairly easy to find after parking in the self-​park area on the parking garage. Just a few feet ahead of exiting the elevators, to our left, was the VooDoo Zipline store with merchandise to purchase such as t-​shirts, tank tops, hats, etc. and the line for your to purchase tickets to ride the Zipline. There’s also some Elite line or something, I can’t remember the name, for special guests I guess. I waited in the regular line and I think the timing was perfect because there was a couple in front of us and behind us, the line was growing fast! When it was our turn in line, we showed our groupon purchase and the lady asked for ID to confirm that we were over 18 (I think that’s what she said she was doing) and she handed us an iPad to sign an electronic form. She didn’t explain to us what exactly it was, not even a brief explanation and if you’re like me, it’s important to read what you’re signing. It was just a consent form saying you won’t sue and blah blah blah. After signing, she told us as we leave the store, there’s a woman to our left a few feet ahead by a sign and she would direct us where to go.
We went out and saw the lady there who smiled and pointed at the elevators behind her. All you press is that one single button, the elevator may take awhile. There’s several lockers you can use to stash your things but you have to pay for it and I suggest you wait until you get up to the top. There are lockers right in front of the ride where you can stash your things for free anyway. The elevator takes you directly to the 51^st floor and the ride up shows you the Strip.
You walk through a club, which, in the daytime, is empty and no one was there to show us the way but we found the exit all the way to the right of the hallway. It gets real windy up there so if you have a hair tie, tie your hair up… Unless of course you want tangled hair. I forgot a hair tie, so my hair was pretty messed up after. There are several couches for you to sit on but I assume it’s for the people at the club. When you make your way down the spiral stairs you can see the rest of the city. There’s a little station by the line you wait in where you can purchase pictures and videos.
No flip flops, glasses, or hats! No phones, purses or cameras either. They ask you to put it in the small locker by the ride in case you didn’t put it away already on the first floor because they are things that could fall and seriously injure a person 500ft below if it were to hit them.
When it was our turn I was a little bit nervous but we were fastened securely to our seats. The GoPro was placed in front of us, angled down toward our faces. Not going to go into too much detail on the ride, BUT IT WAS FUN! lol.
I went to the picture station hoping to buy a picture (buy one, get one groupon deal!) but the pictures were ugly lol but we were handed a SD card and a SD card reader containing our GoPro video of us on the ride. I read in an earlier review from someone else (thank you!) who advised riders to check your SD card for your GoPro video, so I asked the woman there if she could check my SD card and she said she couldn’t do it there but if I went back down to the store, they could check for me.
Back down to the store, I asked to make sure there was a video in my SD card and IT’S A GOOD THING I CHECKED because when they came back out, they said it only recorded the first 30 seconds, which only showed us coming up to the ride and fastening our seatbelts. The whole ride wasn’t ever recorded! So we were told we could go back up and ride again and we would get another SD card. The man said he would tell the people up top to let us go first with his walkie talkie.
We went back up and no one was informed of our free ride back so we had to explain it to someone and they let us go after two other people. After the ride was over we got another SD card but were in a hurry for our dinner reservations so we left when the ride was over.
When I got home I checked the SD card and was very pleased to find that our whole experience was recorded this time! So all in all, I’m a happy camper :)
Don’t forget to have your SD cards checked! I wouldn’t want you going home and finding out your video had nothing in it.

Here on May v pac fight weekend with my boys and we were trying to do something for the thrill. Heard about this crazy building to building zipline for $ 27each person. As we got to the top and stared down… I was like oh… There’s no way I’m getting on that… Feeling slightly buzzed from previous alcohol consumption… I was like YOLO… Honestly the ride wasn’t that bad. It’s a two seater and actually had seats… We
Got a good view of the strip and the ride pretty much went from one
Building to another and back within 2 mins. compared to the zipline … I went in Mexico from one mountain to another mountain… It was not as scary. Overall still a fun ride… which makes Vegas that much of a thrill experience.

My brother and I were stoked when we saw the zipline at the RIO Hotel rooftop and decided last minute to give it try.
The price was $ 27.50 per person to zipline between the 2 RIO towers. Entrance is located on 2^nd floor RIO’s Masquerade Tower, taking the elevator to 51^st floor.
Once on top, we walked out to an outdoor club lounge and were greeted to spectacular views of Las Vegas strip skyline. We enjoyed the picture taking moment and got great panoramic shots, including a few selfies. Luckily, there were no crowds or lines. We only had to wait a few minutes before getting strapped in. Unlike traditional ziplines that use harness and your own gravity to go down the cable, Voodoo’s ziplines were more like ski lift chairs powered by a motorized pulley.
The ride itself went fairly quick (3 – 4 minutes) and you travel at 30 mph. The experience was breathtaking and fun. Once we reached the other side, we were immediately pulled backwards which was a lot more scary than going forward because the momentum causes you lean forward. With only lap style seat belt securing our faith and side of your chair to grasp, butterflies were dancing with more gusto than before.
Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take our cameras or phones with us and had to empty everything out of our pockets before entering the ride which was really bum. I guess they didn’t want any falling object falling on top of their hotel guesses or maybe just to capitalized on it. Pictures were pretty pricey — one picture cost $ 20 and $ 10 for additional. Proof that you did it is priceless.
Is it worth it? Yes, It’s worth doing it once, but probably won’t do it again.
Night time tours are also available, but more expensive $ 42.50 and must be age 21.

I am a Vegas local. I made the mistake of buying a Groupon here was was SUPPOSED to come with:
— Two-​for-​one photo souvenir pass
— Two-​for-​one drink pass in gift shop
— 50% off up to two VooDoo Zip Line clothing items in the retail store
When we checked-​in, they didn’t ask if we were local. I wished they had because it would’ve saved me a couple bucks. Locals ride for $ 19.99. The Groupon was $ 24/​person. So I kinda wasted $ 10.
We did not receive any explanation of the VIP Groupon perks. I didn’t even see a place to buy drinks, and the bar on the 51^st floor wasn’t even open. WTF?! Why offer two-​for-​one drinks if you aren’t going to serve drinks!
Anyway, you take the elevator up to the 51^st floor. They instruct you to put everything inside the lockers outside the elevator, but the lockers weren’t working. You are forced to put your belongings outside the ride in tiny transparent lockers. I would just advise you to leave everything in your car if you can.
Before and after the ride, you are allowed to hang out up on the 51^st floor (VOODOO at night), which has a GREAT view. It’s great for photo opportunities and a nice view of the Strip and outlying areas.
The ride itself was fun. It didn’t go as fast as I thought it would, which was fine by me! But it’s a great view and exhilarating! Going backwards was super fun and weird feeling. They get some really great photos of you as well!
I would def. go back with my out of town guests, I just would advise the management to explain the Groupons a bit better if you offer them in the future.

So we got a living social deal to save some money, I’d say it’s a once in a lifetime thing, you do it, then never do it again.
However, I must say, the view is spectacular from up here, we went in the morning and it was beautiful.
When we went, the elevator broke and they had to let us use their other elevators that are usually off to get up there.

Well, I Chickened out on my friend and didn’t do it. Flying across Vegas was very intimidating but I COULN’T do it. The view looked stunning and the staff were very nice and understanding. I thought it will be a piece of cake after my airplane jump, so I convinced my unexcited friend and took a cap ride from the strip to Rio hotel. The second They strapped me on the seat just with a lap belt and nothing else. I freaked out and was about to suffocate and they took me off the seat. That was the smartest thing to do. Drama free. My friend, however, surprisingly enjoyed the experience. I gave 3 stars because everything was great. Friendly staff, reasonable fare (if you get them with a coupon,) stunning view from the deck, exciting experience– per my friend. The problem was my fear from open heights and the seat issue!
Three Unilocal

Located on the very top 51^st floor of the Rio Hotel.
Personally, I’m not scared of heights but this ride looked quite intimidating.
It is $ 27.49 per person.
They offer discounted tickets if you want to re-​ride it again.
Sometimes you can find deals online, but it’s not that much of a discount to begin with.
They text you when your ride is ready.
The view on top of the Rio is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.
They take your picture as you enter and pictures as you’re going up and down the ride so remember to smile or pose!
They have lockers with keys where you can store all loose clothing, accessories, and belongings before you go on the ride. They do also screen you with a metal detector to make sure you have no weapons on you.
It is FREEZING up there so DO wear a jacket.
Overall, the ride was a very very short thrill. It was ok. Wish the ride was longer.

I have an idea, lets go 490ft in the air and the swing from building to building with a only a nylon seatbelt holding me steady. S’go!
The VooDoo Zipline is not only a fun ride, but the view up here is amazing. I came here for a media event and ended up riding the zipline about three times. My first time around I wasn’t so brave, not a good idea to look down before you decide to hop on something that’s over 490 ft in the air, but a few glasses of wine later and I was all in!
When you ride the zipline you’re basically on a ski lift type chair, then you get strapped in with an airline seatbelt, and get shot from the main Rio Tower across to their sister building. Then you get to experience the ride all over again, but in reverse. Did I mention it goes about 30mph?
This is a fun thing to do with out-​of-​town friends or with the homies, plus it’s pretty fairly priced compared to other attractions in Vegas. The best part about this location, like I said, is the view. Once you’ve tempted fate on the VooDoo Zipline, pop-​in to the VooDoo Steak house, grab a drink, and take in the Vegas Strip in all it’s glory.
