Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach Wyndham Grand Resort

What a great place for to stay at for a large family.
2700 sf penthouse 3 bedrooms with 2 infinity doors to the patio with ocean view and also washer and dryer for $ 480 a night at Costco.
Only negative is that there is no beach access and too many rooster around that area.

Although the construction was fully underway, we really enjoyed our stay. The staff was exceptional. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The room was incredible and having a full kitchen and a washer and dryer was outstanding. The pool was warm and clean. The ocean is a short walk from the resort. Old town Koloa is close by and offers several restaurants and shops.

My family and I stayed in a three bedroom villa with wraparound lanai. We had a view of the pool and despite the construction, we weren’t bothered at all by it.
Hotel staff: They were incredible. Super friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and we were never want for anything.
Amenities & Grounds: volleyball, soccer, mini putting green, fire pits, lagoon and pool, gym (open 24 hours), spa, mini mart and a great little bar.
The villa itself was HUGE. We had three large bedrooms, huge living & dining area, full kitchen, laundry room, spacious and comfortable, I felt like I was living the life in Kauai.
Our towels were replaced daily. They also replenished shampoo, soap, conditioner, dishwashing & laundry detergents.
Parking was easy to find on a daily basis. The grounds were very well kept. The resort is a 7 minute walk to the beach. You have to exit the resort area and walk down Kapili and make a left at the Sheraton. Follow the paved path and pass the rocky beach. You’ll find a small stretch of sand. Saw surfers out there, but not a ton of people. I would recommend going to other beaches as I can see it’d get pretty busy with Sheraton visitors since it’s right outside of their hotel.
I highly recommend this resort and hope to return to it again.

Absolutely beautiful, high end units. I could live here! Brand new, state of the art kitchen, appliances, washer & dryer. Beautiful property, still under construction. So glad we stayed here, we will definitely be back. Quiet & relaxing!

I recently stayed 8 nights at this resort and really loved it, with only a few minor complaints. I know these condos are for sale and that’s what makes it feel more like a home than a hotel, but I would have enjoyed more resort like amenities. I REALLY wish there would have been a pool bar – if not swim up at least on the side. There was a tiny hotel lobby bar and the bartenders were very nice when we walked by but nothing about it said «typical bar.» Also the little store they had seemed to never be open (and no prices were listed). Yes you could bring stuff to the front desk but only once in 9 days did I actually see the café part open. The worst complaint I have though was the view – construction completely blocking the ocean. I really don’t mean to be nit-​picky. It was an absolutely gorgeous place to stay and we had no actual complaints about the staff so all in all, it is a wonderful resort. Also a tip – don’t miss the management party with the free drink and apps! Very delicious :-)

The most amazing place to really make our Kauai trip memorable and stress free! You know how I know? I’ve been back 3 days and I am still reminiscing about this place. I will highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kauai and wishing to stay in the Poipu Beach area. Ideal for families or larger groups who are considering cooking their own meals and doing their laundry while on vacation.
Our group of 6 adults and 2 kids booked a 3 bedroom villa with a construction view, although the staff were very accommodating and our room actually had no construction view at all, awesome! The villa is GORGEOUS! Modern and fully updated rooms and appliances, fully stocked and ready to use kitchen, beautiful huge bathrooms (one for each room, I was pleasantly surprised). Great common area for us to spend some family time together. The best part was the patio/​balcony (patio for us since we were on the ground floor). It wraps around 2 walls of our villa with access from each bedroom as well as the living room. Glass patio doors all around for a great view! Love that there is a laundry room so you don’t have to lug your smelly, sandy, stinky clothes back home. Score!
The pool area is so nice and rarely full so we had a lot of privacy. There’s a booth for renting floaties, scuba equipment, etc that we were able to rent and take down to the beach. There’s a grassy area for volleyball, soccer, and golf. The landscaping around the resort is very well maintained and there are gorgeous flowers everywhere. I’m sure there are a lot of other amenities the hotel offers but we really only used the pool and the bar in the lobby, lol. Speaking of. the lobby is gorgeous and open with a bar and refreshments. Every single staff member we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. ESPECIALLY Marida at the front desk. She gave us wonderful recommendations based on her own experiences and was friendly and personable without being overwhelming. Each item we requested was brought to our room in a timely manner by a smiling employee.
The location is also pretty good. Its near a lot of other resorts and hotels and within walking distance of Poipu Beach, which is our new favorite beach. Just down the street is a nice shopping area with a farmers market on Wednesdays and some cute restaurants. About 20 minutes from Lihue (airport and more stores).

We stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon in Kauai and really enjoyed our stay.
Our 2 Bedroom villa was bigger than our apartment (!) and had a full kitchen, huge king tub, washer/​dryer, deck, etc. It was like living in our own Hawaiian condo for a few days.
The rooms were clean and fully stocked with pots, pans, laundry detergent, etc. Parking was easy to find and the location was a very close drive to the beaches and market and local shopping areas.
We definitely noticed the construction happening and although it would have been nice to have closer access and a wide view of the beach, we had a rental car to get there fast so it didn’t bother us too much.
Service here was friendly and we also got lei’d upon arrival! I liked the location of the resort and felt for the price we paid, that it was a decent deal.
I’d stay here again!

Lets just start by saying if I could rate 10 Stars for Koloa Landing, I would in a heart beat. I cant even begin to say how much I loved this place. My husband and I vacationed to Kauai for the first time for both of us on our honeymoon two weeks ago. We both didn’t know what we would get into with our hotel, we kind of booked it last minute. But right as we walked in and checked in, I was blown away! Everyone was so welcoming when we checked in, Auntie Lovey made us feel right at home and presented us with a wonderful welcome. She was so sweet and gave us a little history on the aloha spirit. Thank you Auntie Lovey for being our first smile on the island. Also, you cant go wrong when you check into a hotel and they give you a coupon for two free Mai tai’s :) Our room was perfect, we did ask for a ocean view but with the construction they were doing the staff took care of us and put us in a pool view, which I loved. The construction didn’t bother us at all. The landscaping around the resort was beautiful and smelt so good, with all the flowers and plants. I even liked they they put what type of plant it was. Now I know what types of plants I want in my future home.
My husband and I also enjoyed our couples massage, it was my husbands first massage and my first couple massage and Pattie and Tricia did a wonderful job. My husbands face walking out of the spa was priceless. He said he plans to get more massage’s in the future. If only they were at Koloa Landing Spa :) Thank you again Pattie and Tricia!
Management at the resort is also very helpful. My husband was indecisive on if he wanted to golf while vacationing. So he got some information from the front desk on where the best places to play are. Joe, who was very nice and generous gave my husband some info on the best golf ranges. Thank you again Joe, you made his day!
Most of our evenings after our hikes, beach hopping, dining and excursions were spent in the lobby visiting Matt who is now my favorite bartender EVER! He makes a killer Mai Tai, so if you do have the pleasure of enjoying his company while having a delicious Mai Tai you are in for a treat. We hope he will still be there when we return to the resort. Also, Billy who played live music in the lobby two of the nights we were there was such a beautiful musician. We enjoyed his music and nice warm Hawaiian spirit. They really made our trip unforgettable and so much fun. Thank you so much Matt and Billy :)

Most amazing place … the staff was point on! And our condo was better then we could of imagined… Matt the bar tender was absolutely the best… always remembered our drinks just the way we liked them and super personable. Definitely go see our favorite bartender if your in the area!

Stayed here for 3 nights October 6 – 8 in a 2 bedroom suite ocean view. Had gotten a great deal on this hotel due to the large amount of construction on the property (which we didn’t know about until we arrived). No beach access and views all include the gorgeous construction site and metal gates lol. The pool was the best part, very quiet, not a lot of kids. But there was no bar in the pool area or anywhere at the hotel. Also no restaurant, they only had this little market place which closed at 7 everyday. The worst thing about my stay was when I went to bed the first night I got under the covers and the sheets and all the pillows smelled like someone had been sleeping in them for weeks and not showered, they were obviously not changed for a long time. This was fixed right away but still has scarred me for life! The entire cleanliness of the room was mediocre at best, a lot of dust and mildew/​sweat smell everywhere. Would not go to this hotel again or recommend to a friend.

We stay here on the week of 9÷12÷14. The lady name Jessica helped us and she was very friendly and patient with us. I requested one option, but my lady didn’t want it, so Jessica was kind to undo my request. They did clearly stated check in is 4pm and check out 11am, so not sure how some reviewer complaint about not able to check in before 4pm. They did check us in a little early when the room was available.
The room was very clean and kitchen has everything that we needed, including pots and pans and washing detergent. They even provide enough coffee for 2 people per day with coffee maker. The appliances are all expansive high end, the type that you wish you have in your kitchen. There is a laundry room in each unit, they provide a small box of detergent for about 2 loads. They have balcony with eating table. They only fully clean the room every 3 days, but they take out trash everyday. There is a safe box in the room. Overall very satisfy with our stay, will likely to stay here again.

Beautiful and spacious villas, a spa, and a couple really great lagoon pools. What more could you want? It is not directly oceanfront but the beaches in Poipu are a 5 min drive and easy to park. Close to all the good restaurants and shopping areas. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Would definitely go back.
A note to people purchasing through other websites – some reduced rate rooms are adjacent to construction which is currently happening. You may want to call the resort and clarify what you are getting for the special price. We opted for a place away from the construction and it was lovely.

I expected a lot more for the price we paid. There is currently no beach access from these condos to the beach due to construction fencing. The trail is blocked off. To walk to the beach or the nearby shopping center you have to walk up to the main highway. The fencing also spoils the view. Another warning: the «free wi-​fi throughout» advertised on their web site is for 2 devices only. Other devices cost $ 9.95 per day each for wi-​fi access. After paying 5 grand to stay here for 8 nights, I didn’t expect petty charges like that.
Also, our unit was not ready when we arrived at 2:00, which I understand. We went to lunch and returned at 3:45, and it still «wasn’t ready». We wandered around the pool, and magically, at exactly 4:00 it was «ready». I totally felt like they were jerking us around. Towards the end of our stay we saw another family wandering around the pool in street clothes at 3:45. I think they just don’t like letting people check in until exactly 4:00, which felt rude, especially for this price.
Other negatives: No restaurant or pool bar. Nobody tending the «bar» in the lobby at any time. They only change the bed linens every 3 days, which is OK, but on the days they don’t change them, they don’t even make the beds. Also no sweeping or vacuuming. I expected closer to full maid service. All they did was empty the trash and change towels.
Positive: The unit was very spacious. It had a great spacious lanai, with nice furnishings. It was pretty clean, except for sticky stuff on the doors of the kitchen cabinets. The staff seems to do their best except for the checking-​in part. One day we requested an extra sheet for the sofabed and a remote (we only had 3 for 4 TVs), and they were delivered promptly. Later I found 3 remotes in a drawer under the oven! The pools were very nice, although my husband complained about the lack of depth (4 feet is the deepest).
We stayed previously at Marriott Waiohai Beach Club, for a lower price. The unit was smaller, but we could walk directly from the pool to the beach and back again. We could walk down the beach to Brennecke’s in 15 minutes or less. Knowing that their beach access and view are spoiled, I think Wyndham should be charging less for these right now. Location, location, location!

5 Star Resort for sure. I give the spa 1 star (see my review specifically for the spa), but the resort is definitely a 5. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we immediately felt like we were living the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Talk about fancy! We booked a package through Costco Travel and they did not disappoint. Upon arrival the hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. We stayed on the 4^th floor of building 1 and were in awe at the view. We had a two bedroom, two bathroom condo, which was huge and more then enough space. The best thing about the resort is that it is so clean. The furniture, bedding, bathroom (shower and tub) were sparkling. I never take my sandals off when staying in hotels, sometimes even shower in them. But Koloa Landing was so clean that I was able to kick off the sandals and enjoy being barefoot around the condo. We had a full kitchen, nicer than what we have at our own house. And our personal laundry room came in useful as well. I can’t rave enough about the cleanliness of this resort. Hands down the best place to stay if you are a germaphobe like myself. The grounds around the resort are beautiful as well. We loved relaxing in the tranquility pool, which was a lot more calm and quiet compared to the larger pool area. It was great to have access to the club house there on the grounds. We rented our fins for the weeks and kept them in our jeep so anytime we felt like snorkeling we were ready to go. Overall this resort was clean, quiet, spacious, and perfect for couples on their honeymoon!!! I recommend it and hope to return someday!

Currently staying here for Spring Break and boy is this place awesome. The staff is extremely kind with smiles on their faces all the time. My kids look out for Auntie Lovey all the time.
When we entered our room, we were shocked, impressed, blown away and any other possible adjective I could think of. Very clean and spacious 3 bedroom/​3 bath suite with separate living and huge Lani that wrapped around.
Although we aren’t directly on the beach, our family will be coming back here again in the «not to distant» future.
If you want to relax, this is the place to be.

Faaaaaaaaancy.
My husband and I stayed at an amazing villa, fully equip with a state of the art kitchen, two bedrooms, three luxurious bathrooms, laundry room, large living room, and a patio looking over the pool/​ocean.
Surely our villa was massive, especially for just for my husband and I, but we got such a great deal on it! I really liked that it was super close to everything — walking path to the Sunset Wall/​Beaches, the two pools, putting greens, and volleyball/​basketball courts.
But let me back up, when we checked in, the front desk attendant made us feel so welcomed. She was very nice and greeted us with beaded shell necklaces. Also, we had mentioned it was our honeymoon and later that week the hotel surprised us with a bottle of white wine! How sweet!
Anyway, here are 5 more reasons why I gave Koloa Landing 5 Stars:
1) Their TV landing page! GOSH, THAT SONG WILL GET STUCK IN YOUR HEAD — In a good way of course. It’s so catchy and once you hear it, you will instantly reminisce of your time in Kauai! I literately found it online when I got home because I missed hearing it!
2) The whole facility was very modern and new, and kept very clean!
3) It was nice to use their free wifi and even their computers/​printers to get our boarding passes.
4) The staff is very happy! Loved seeing all the smiles!
5) They extended our checkout and let us use the other amenities even though we «checked out»
p. s. We didn’t know this until our last day but you can use their beach towels located at the pools for free!!! Funny, we used bath towels at the beach.

Ok, if you’re coming to Kauai, you must stay at Koloa Landing! It was a lovely experience. We got a two bedroom/​two bath suite that was massive and had an ocean view. It is located in between Koloa and Poipu, so it’s easy to get anywhere around the island. The front desk staff was awesome! We were checked in by Lovey, or shall I call her Tita Lovey! Totally like any Filipino auntie I’ve every known. Totally nice and super helpful with things to do and places to eat. Not directly on the beach, but it’s a short walk down the back pathway, or a quick ride to the Sheraton or Grand Hyatt beaches. Our friends who were also on Kauai at the same time were staying at the Kaihuna Plantation in Poipu… too many creepy crawlers for them, so they came and stayed at Koloa Landing too! A switch well worth it!
Overall, spend your money wisely and stay here!

Out of the many hotels and resorts we had to choose from, I’m so glad we stayed here! Everything about this place is absolute luxury!
Next time we come we will stay on the eat coast which has more attractions and better beaches, but I’m glad we stayed here the first time!
We booked our room a month or so in advance for travel in mid October 2012. We ended up getting a two bedroom suite for cheaper than some local hotels around our house on the mainland!
Our suite had two bedrooms, two deluxe bathrooms, laundry room, gourmet kitchen, living room, and patio with lawn area. Tons of room and amenities for the price, we were absolutely blown away!
We were on the ground floor and we loved sitting out on our patio in the morning and watching the chickens walk by and hangout in the grassy area. They were so cute and friendly!
There was a nice pool in the middle of the resort and pretty plants and greenery all around the property. They were doing some construction across the property when we went, but we never heard any noise.
Our only complaint was that there wasn’t a restaurant on the property, and when we went the «bar» area was always empty. Also that the beach wasn’t right on the property, we had to walk about a mile to get to it, but Poipu Beach is pretty rocky so it wasn’t much of a beach when we got there unless we walked down to another resort.
This is definitely a place to consider, especially because it is right next to a great shopping center with the best restaurants and ice cream!

the property is really nice, and a great value if you order through Orbitz and do it early. I spent quite some time researching who in Kauai had King beds and not a whole lot of places do. This place has them standard in the master bedroom. They all are modern beds with pillow-​tops. If you need a firm mattress, my understanding is they don’t have any. I’ve read the complaint by Cameron M, saying his wife could not sleep on them, and that sucks when you can’t sleep, but the beds were modern and new and all 3 adults slept great. The kitchen is set up and ready for most light cooking, including new utensils, cups, plates, pans, and nice appliances and a great dish washer. Nice washer/​dryer combo as well.
I would consider staying again, especially if I got the killer rates I did from Orbitz ($ 299 a night for 2-​beds!) and maybe if we had a larger clan to house. They have much larger configurations available. They have room configurations that get really REALLY big: and can house an entire extended family. The managemt was cool with us for brining grandma along, an extra person, even though we had originally only booked for three people and we did not pay extra for her.
The place could use tighter management. While we knew they did not do housekeeping every day, they promised towels every day and we got skipped a day and even after making a request late that day that we were skipped, had to have an emergency delivery of them the next morning.
Also, they gave us vouchers that were supposed to pay for rentals at the swim shop at the pool. The woman at the pool told me she did not accept vouchers and should pay with credit card and could get reimbursed. The front desk, when checking out, had no record of this and would not accept my credit card receipt.
The room construction is excellent. if you want to compare the types of rooms and their amenities, the Outrigger, where my brother’s family was staying, is a great comparison, but Koloa landing has WAY better privacy for each unit. Koloa has private elevator access to EVERY room – not a central hall with party people coming in late and walking by your room. Also, my sister-​in-​law who was staying at the Outrigger commented on our nice clean furniture. At the Outrigger, it was tired and stained. While the Koloa Landing’s pool is nice enough and great for kids, the Outigger, for comparison, is more imaginative.
The only room-​noise problem we had was one evening the room above us seemed to be scooting their chairs on the floor quite a bit and we could hear it thru the ceiling. It lasted till about 10:30 PM. But we heard no voices through the walls, or bumping around, otherwise.
The A/​C system, while modern, and built-​in (not some box hanging off the wall), is pretty loud. Use earplugs to sleep if you are sensitive to that.
There was a note that the vertical construction is over. Even so, when I ordered I made sure our room was not a construction room, and it was not, which was great. But I never heard construction noise the entire time, and we stayed during weekdays.
My brother’s family had more trouble with noise at the Waipouli Outrigger. Some sort of construction going on right across the parking lot outside their room.
kid friendly, but only had one noisy evening with kids at the pool that we could hear till 9:30 or so. We brought our 2 year old and they provided a crib and high chair as promised.

Koloa Landing is such a beautiful property… and it has sooo much potential. I say that because it’s not fully completed, which is why i reluctantly deducted one star. But once all the phases of the resort are done, I’m sure it will be world class! (they are planning more buildings, another pool, and a restaurant according to the front desk attendant).
The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and the beds are oh-​so-​comfy! The kitchen is well stocked with all the latest appliances (although our blender was shotty). It would have been nice if they provided at least one pack of dishwasher solution and one pack of detergent for the laundry room, but really… no biggie.
I loved that the sliding doors opened up onto the huge lanai overlooking the gorgeous pool. The large pool is more lively than the smaller pool, which has waterfalls and is tucked behind the most south-​western building. I recommend the smaller pool for more intimacy and peace (read: no screaming kids!).
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The property is perfectly and conveniently located to the other resorts, shopping, good food and the beach. Unlike many of the other resorts, KL isn’t right on the beach but that was okay by me because it seemed more serene without all the beach crowds and it’s only about a ten minute walk to the beach by the Sheraton.
It was a nice place to come «home» to everyday after our adventures. Kauai is a magical place and Koloa Landing made it that much more special for us. I can’t wait to visit again!
