Came here for Valentine’s Day brunch. So, if you didn’t know, they have a new policy to ordering your food– if your number is called & you don’t show up to the front in a timely matter, they’ll call the next number & you’d have to pull another number & repeat the whole process. In my case, I had my three kids with me, one in a carrier. I got called, heard them, but I wasn’t fast enough to get to the front, so the next number was called. Mind you, they weren’t busy at all! the family after us got helped first. Standing there invisible, the worker takes my number & totally ignores me! The next number gets called & I had to say something. The guy worker who took my number turned his back on me and had someone else help me. He was rude!!! Thank goodness for great workers still! I wish I got her name because she was very helpful! Food wise, it’s ok. I got my usual chow mein & Ginger fried rice, which was extra mushy, sweet & sour park, beef broccoli, string bean beef, & minute chicken. I still love their portioning because I ordered a regular plate & it fed me & my two kids, who have an adult stomach. Lol. It gets pretty cold in there, so bring a jacket. Their bathroom needs cleaning though. && I was a tad but disgusted of how many flies were in the restaurant & bathroom.

My wife loves their pack and go Chinese food options but I’m more of a fan of their modest dim sum options and fried noodles. It’s a real gem to have this in Kapolei as dim sum is a distance away in Chinatown. Although I wish they offered MORE selections i.e. Mochi pork rice, turnip cake, taro balls etc. HOPEYOUSTOREOWNERSAREREADINGTHIS haha. If it’s one gripe I would have is to have a massive sign to help with ordering here. There are benches galore for people to sit after pulling a ticket yet no one ever uses them. After pulling a ticket, comes excitement, impatience, curiousness for some reason as there is constant crowd piling at the front. People are running into each other as people are browsing, getting called up to order, people not having a clue where to go after pulling a ticket, people trying to pay etc etc! PLEASEPULL A TICKETANDHAVE A SEATUNTILYOURNUMBERISCALLED. You’re welcome Chun Wah Kam ;)

This is definitely a solid three stars. The steamed manapuas are pretty good — I especially recommend the char siu and red bean ones, but the rest of the menu is pretty lackluster. The takeout bar foods as a group are too salty, and the noodles aren’t any better than what you’d get at a standard Chinese buffet.

I have been a fan of Chun Wah Kam in Waimalu for years, and the one in Kapolei is very good too! Parking. There is a lot of parking, and there are several other businesses in this little mall, but parking has never been a problem. Chun Wah Kam is always crowded, so the best time to come is either early, before 11am, or after 1pm. Lunch hour gets pretty nuts. When you walk in, first thing you should do is not look at the food. The first thing to do is grab a number, then go look at the food. There are a ton of choices, so first decide how hungry you are. Regular or mini, but the mini is quite large, and the regular can feed 2 people with normal appetites. Pick you starch, half rice, half noodles, or what ever combo of starch, but the last couple times I went, I was bummed that they no longer have cake noodle with gravy. My favorite items are the pork with bittermelon, Pork with eggplant, sweetsour fish, garlic chicken, kau yuk, and the Chinese roast pork. You can spit each item, so you can get the 2 choice mini and take 4 choices, and you can do the same with the regular sized plate as well. They also have excellent varieties of manapua and pork hash. The seating area is very big, and they can actually have small parties here. Lots of open seating. The food here is very good and the portions are killer. The only thing is that when the items start running out, the refill is very slow and you will probably have to make a different choice because the fresh new pan probably won’t be coming out anytime soon. The workers here are very nice, never ever had one with a bad attitude, the gang here is always smiling and friendly.

Came here since I needed time to kill before the post office, ended up buying a FAT plate lunch at 9:30 am I got udon noodles as my starch(you get offered two) then sweet and sour ribs, minute teriyaki chicken, orange chicken, and fired chicken(not sure of the actual name). Pretty decent food, but the food is only mildly warm, not super hot. So if they could maybe fix food warmers? But the plate was overall good($ 11 for all huge plate) 4⁄5

I just want a manapua and I have to wait in this long line. They’re on number 56 and I pulled no. 71. This place is horrible but there’s no other place within walking distance that has manapua. If you go during lunch be prepared to wait a long time.

Giant servings of ok asian style food. It’s not excellent food, but its good enough if you just want a quick lunch or want a mountain of a plate.

Chun Wa Kam is pretty much gourmet Chinese food. Located in a lower traffic retail area in Kapolei. Not like your mom and pop Chinese restaurant, nor the simplicity like a Panda Express. It’s actually a very confusing restaurant that doesn’t know it’s identity as a L/L or catering company. Usually their is plenty of entrees to choose from. Like the variety of Chow mein, to the countless styles of pork and chicken. However if you come near closing you may not find anything at all. You can also order Manapua which is great. This place can get confusing though. Sometimes you take a ticket and they call your name to order, after ordering you select your choices in a lunch line. Why not just have a line? Who uses tickets, so old school. Staff is always friendly, mostly teenagers. However they need to be selective in what they say. I over heard employees swearing, also revealing things that really I have no business knowing TMI.

seems like no matter what time you get there, they’re always out of something; usually what you want to eat. we came here a few days ago after not coming for a couple of months and OHMYGOSH this place is filthy! it’s one of the newer buildings in kapolei, but you would never know. like… everything is dirty. the bathrooms, the tables(even though they always have signs up saying this section is closed for cleaning), booths, everything. I usually only eat the manapua because the rest of their food makes my stomach sore(greasy).

This place is worth your money! From fat and packed plates, assorted baked and steamed manapuas that are super big, meaty big half moons and pork hash and generous sized rice cakes. The fried saimin and furikake fried rice were my two starches today. The fried saimin pretty much consisted of what you put in a saimin but, only fried and the furikake fried rice is pretty much a musubi but, in fried rice form. I got basic sides such as spicy garlic chicken which has jalapeños and red peppers and beef broccoli. You can get two sides and half them, that way you are able to get four sides but, half of them and only get charges for two sides.

This place is super filthy. We went here on a Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm. Tables dirty, windows look like there’s soap scum on them and oil. It’s such a huge establishment with potential. They need to clean. Instead of your workers hanging out and talking story there needs to be clear directions as to who will clean sections of the diner. What’s the point of closing sections off if the section you leave open is disgusting? I suggest taking food to go. Even then the counter and area where the hot pans are were caked in dried food giving us second thoughts as to ordering. The town and even Pearl City locations are more appealing and better managed.

I was craving for some baked hot dog manapua & char siu so I decided to get it here since it was on my way home. Upon entering the door there were a few signs posted which didn’t make sense to me. One of the signs says” Enter here only if your number has been called” & the other sign said«please do not pull a number unless you are ready.» How the hell are you supposed to be ready to order if we are not allowed to enter to look at the food behind the counter??? They need to rewrite these signs or take them off. It’s such a big turnoff. So I ordered my baked hot dog manapua & sadly they were out so I tried ordering roast pork & they were out… I tried ordering char siu & believe it or not they were out also! Now it was only 1pm & how can they be out of all the things I wanted! Never ever happens at the Waimalu store & that is why I’m going back there from now on! I ended up buying baked char siu manapua & pork hash. The young guy that waited on me never even said Thank You after my purchase. Bye bye! Going back to Waimalu where everyone there are much more friendlier!

Want manapua but too lazy to go Chinatown or search for the Manapua man(btw does Kapolei have? Too new of a community). Come here to get your fix. I usually just stick to baked char sui manapua, steam lup cheong Manapua, rice cakes and get a plate lunch of chow mein, spicy garlic chicken and kau yuk Can get pricey because I buy so much!!!

Great place to visit for party pre-orders. I love the mini manapuabut you do have to order a day ahead. Food is local style Chinese. Also a great place if you come early or for lunch. Not very good if you come late afternoon. Selection is limited and they are not very friendly/service oriented at this time.

How have I not written about this place yet? I’ve been here countless times!!! I love this place. Probably my favorite place to get chinese. I like this location better than the Pearl City one. Not just because I don’t have to deal with traffic, but I think the cooks are a little better. I always get the garlic chicken here. It is always perfect. I’ve had the ginger chicken fried rice which is acutally really good even though I don’t normally care for ginnger chicken. The noodles are always on point here. The guava chicken was a bit disappointing though. I thought it would be sweeter. It’s too bbq-y for my taste. The minute chicken is always good too. Their veggie dishes are always great too. Roast pork is always tender and full of flavor. There’s not a lot that I haven’t tried that I don’t like. The only thing negative is that one time we catered from here, and I swear it did not taste as good as when you order from the line.

This is my first time to the Kapolei location. I absolutely like the layout. It’s not cluttered nor cramped. The staff does a great job with maintaining it. The service is great too! The employees are very friendly. They assisted my family and me with a smile I definitely needed that after a terrible start to my day. As for the food… I ordered a mini with portuguese sausage fried rice, kau yuk, and orange chicken. I’m very picky with my food. The fried rice is broke da mouth kine ono! Really! I wasn’t so into to the orange chicken. The taste was a bit mediocre. On the other hand, the texture was perfect. The kau yuk had way too much fat for me. Normally that’s a good thing because that’s the best part. In this case, it lacked that sweet flavor. It was a bit bland like the orange chicken. Despite the lack of taste for my two entrees, the portion was fantastic. I’m a big eater so for the mini to have filled me up, that’s awesome! Being that I’m familiar with the Ala Moana location, I had some high expectations for the flavor. Like I said, I’m picky. Overall, it was a good experience. I’ll definitely return here if I’m in the area. The customer service is what made it pleasant.

Great manapua! The char siu and garlic chicken are my favorite. The pork hash is just ok. The restaurant itself is very large and is great for casual dining like a food court would be. Everyone there was friendly and they moved quickly

We only started going to Chun Wah Kam a few months ago. The selection is fantastic! The service is very welcoming and sincere. I can feel the Aloha! I love their Lemon chicken, ginger fried rice and Shoyu Udon noodles. The Kapolei and Ala Moana locations are both spacious, brightly lit and decorated mod. Their manapuas(dim sum) are excellent. Food is way more authentic than Panda Express. It’s reasonably priced with large portions. Their Mini plate is a huge meal for me. Strongly recommend!

I wanted to explore a Chinese food option in Kapolei and Chun Wah Kam came up. This place is huge inside and seems clean. I love they have a big menu. Unfortnately by the time I got there, most of manapua were sold out. I have read the reviews and ordrerd a mini but boy it was still big enough for two persons. They serve much bigger portion than Panda Express for sure. Food quality wise, I would about the same as Panda Express but Chun Wah Kam is a lot more reasonable I think. I will try their manapua next time.

Working in the Kapolei area yesterday so I decided to stop by for some Chinese food @ Chun Wah Kam, as it was close by. Been here several times… restaurant is very large and clean. Not too much wait time in ordering & getting your food, but it does help in you go early. What’s on today’s menu for me? Well I took a mini, cuz Chun Wah Kam sure serves up very LARGE portions of food. I ended up taking the chow funn noodles, beef broccoli, & garlic chicken. And for dessert, I got myself a layered rice cake. I eating rice cakes as a kid, but I really loved the layered rice cake, as I would peel the various levels of rice cakes & eat them slowly. It sure brings back great memeories as a kid. Overall I would say the food was not too bad. But on the other hand, I would say it was as good, as any other fast food Chinese places like — Panda’s, or Chinatown Express… They have an array of other things they sell like their manapuas. They make their manapunas with a lot of different types of fillings too! If you’re ever in the Kapolei area, and are craving Chinese, it’s worth while to check out this place.
