Stephanie’s Nails

I have been getting pedicures from Stephanie’s Nails for the past 2 years. Both Sam and Stephanie are doing a great job and they can usually squeeze me in the same or next day. After every pedicure, my feet are so soft and the color looks great — a lot better than me using nail polish at home. Last month my mom and I went to their new location at 361 North Kainalu Street in Kailua. It is a cute little studio that is nicely painted and has a beautiful flower picture on the wall. It is a little difficult to find their new studio but Stephanie sent me the address and two photos of the building right after calling in to schedule the pedicure and I was able to find the place. One great aspect about their new studio is the fact that it is located in a quiet neighborhood, so if you want to use the pedicure time to get away from your daily routine and relax (like I do), it will be a lot easier. Parking is also available right in front of their building, which is very convenient.

Wanted to get a quick pedicure before a dinner I had to go to in Kailua. Since this place was in the area I decided to stop by. Parked in the metered parking lot in the back and walked around to the front only to find the door was locked but the open sign still flashing. All the lights were still on as well. Sad I didn’t get to try this place. If they were still open, they should use a «be back in * minutes» sign to avoid losing customers.

I really liked this place. I called in to ask for an appointment and they were able to take me within the hour. The owners were very friendly, and everything was very comfortable and clean. It was around $ 56 for a standard mani/​pedi, and I was in and out in about an hour, so I would say the slightly higher price was worth it. The mani and pedi were pretty simple, but very precise and good quality. The location is pretty convenient, but make sure to bring change if you plan on parking anywhere nearby! Parking meters galore.

Excellent experience. Brought my mom for mani/​pedis. The owners are friendly and meticulous. My toenails still looked great after two weeks at the beach. Found my new favorite nail place on Oahu. Call ahead for an appointment time since it’s just the two of them.

They are very rude, bad pedicure.
I will go to Kailua Nails next to the shack, much better.

I called and made an appointment for a pedicure for the same day. Got there and was helped right on time. The lady did my pedicure. Never introduced herself or spoke to me. Never asked me if I wanted a regular or deluxe pedicure (and I will almost always go for the deluxe!). No kind of callous treatment whatsoever. My heels are still rough. The three kids were running around the whole time I was there, and the lady actually got up and went in back to yell at them once.
I don’t think I’ll go back. But, none of the places in Kailua give GOOD pedicures.

I love this place! I have been coming every 2 – 3 weeks for almost a year now. It’s just a husband and wife duo that run this little salon, so don’t always expect to walk in (although they do accept walk ins if they have time in their schedule). I love that when I make an appointment for my gel manicure & gel pedicure I know that I’m going to get about 2 hours dedicated to just getting my nails done! The wife usually does my pedicures and her husband does my manicures. They’re both amazing at what they do! The gel always last me about 3 weeks, sometimes a bit longer if I haven’t had the chance to make it in. I haven’t had one bad experience with them! But yes I do pay $ 90 plus tip each time I get my nails done, but I always get gel (which is going to be more expensive than regular polish ANYWHERE you go) and you’re in Hawaii, you should expect to pay more!

The woman was very rude, my nails chipped after two day, her children were playing around the salon and she would stop my service to speak with them, didn’t do the design as I showed her, would never go back

BE AWARE OF PRICING UP TO $ 95 for your nails… I see this was posted by someone else too and I wish I had read it.
I must say that the nails came out good. The problem was this:
I phoned for a price and was told a certain amount. I was visiting from Maui and called around to be certain. I got there, and the owners are a couple. The woman was giving me the «stink eye» which in Hawaii means not so good. Her husband was doing my nails. Their 3 children were running around for hours ages 8 – 12. Nice kids, but not too relaxing.
The moment came when they asked for my Credit card and charged me much MORE than the amount quoted. I knew I was getting taken advantage of. I mentioned the price «nicely» and was told. OH THIS IS ORGANIC… Really?
Thus I paid $ 80 for nails mani/​pedi with gel and truly it was about $ 30 more than I was quoted. I paid it, even tipped, but I certainly felt taken advantage of as if I were in a foreign country traveling and ripped off. I enjoy traveling out of the country, but I have learned the technique and never expected it in Kailua, HI.

I never thought I would write a bad review about this place but after much thought I figured I would be honest. I’ve been a few times and they were a great team. The plus side is YOU get an appointment and that time is dedicated to you and you’re the only customer. However, this time they were off their game. My hands had skin chunks taken out around the cuticles and cuticles were never pushed back or hands soaked like I asked. I don’t want a manicure on the side of the pedicure chair which is why I make appointments! So after a rushed pedicure and rushed half ass manicure my total (for both gel) was $ 94 before tip. What??? How is that even possible??? They’re not a high end salon and have no right to charge so much. Their kids are always there and it’s not even decorated or nice enough to charge that much! Charge normal prices of «nail salons» like your operating and I would come back.

Stellar! Awesome duo couple doing nails. Excellent customer service!!! Relatively cheap I would definitely go back regularly if I lived here! They tell you how to take care of your nails etc. They actually care about the health of your nails! I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure.

Went in for my first gel polish manicure and pedicure, I called ahead, thanks to Unilocal,and they were ready for me right off. They were so nice and made the atmosphere very relaxing. Her husband started my manicure while she did my pedicure. They both did a great job on cleaning up my nail cuticles. He told me they prefer appointments so that they can provide the best service and not be rushed. I loved my experience and my polished nails. Definitely will be back.

I’ve been seeing Sam and Stephanie since before they opened their own store. The work they do is always top notch. Their place is comfortable and clean. I have never had a fill or a pedicure last so long. I’ve always had problems with lifting until I met Sam. He’s quick, but doesn’t cut corners (or you!) I highly recommend them.

Had a very nice manicure and pedicure. I’m super pleased with the service. They are friendly and professional. I left very relaxed.

Wonderful service and close attention to detail! We were a walk in for my daughter’s birthday and they squeezed her and my niece in before their next client, and even though their time was a bit tight, they never made us feel rushed and did an amazing job! They didn’t have enough time for all three of us, so I’ll be sure to pay another visit before heading back to the mainland!

Love them! Came in and was told to come back in an hour. I could see they were busy with two lady’s so I said okay with no problem. It’s just the two of them so i completely understand.
The husband started on my acrylics, he’s great. They both take their time making sure each nail is perfect. Asking what color you want and if you want any glitter or designs. They make you feel very comfortable.
Of you plan on coming make sure to prepare for a wait, but be understanding it’s just the two of them! The wait is well worth it, they’re so nice!
I got black acrylics with silver faded glitter and I love em!

love this spot! locally owned by a couple, they are very welcoming. they really take their time when doing your nails, definitely the best nail technicians I have ever experienced. I usually show them. photo of the nails I want from Pinterest and they make it look spot on. I recommend getting the gel nails and don’t be shy to ask for them to so some speciality art.

Awesome place! They were able to take me right in as a walk in… very detailed, courteous and my nails look fabulous!!! Fill & French!

My first experience was not pleasant. I stopped in and was told «No time for you.» I’m pretty accustomed to having to wait for nails when I walk in to a place, but they made it clear that wasn’t an option. I was turned away and thought to myself «they just lost my business.» On a holiday when every other nail place in Kailua was closed and I was desperate, Stephanie’s was open. So I put my grudge aside and went back and he was able to see me… and did a FANTASTIC job. I was floored. I’ve been getting nails for a long time and have never, ever been so pleased. I have since learned they are a two man team, so it really is best to make an appointment. I haven’t been anywhere else since. They really do great work and the more you offer up conversation, the more they will in return. So make your appointment and walk out totally stoked with their attention to detail!

I had a date here with my Mommy this morning. I have been here before and for some reason have never written a review.
The purpose of our date today was because my mommy was scheduled to have an ingrown toenail removal surgery tomorrow and I got treated to a gel pedicure since I return to work on Monday from maternity leave.
As we made conversation with Stephanie mom relayed information about her surgery. Stephanie looked at her with disbelief. She wondered why my mom would have to be at the hospital for 5 hours tomorrow to do an incorrect procedure that would take her husband Sam only 5 minutes to do correctly. After a little but of discussion about how nails grow, and how surgical procedure never correct the problem permanently and can cause more problems my mom was convinced. Right there she called her doctor and cancelled her surgery. And in fact Sam was able to clear up not only my mommy’s problem ingrown toenail but also ones he could see starting to form. It took all of ten minutes. Solved the problem and prevented more. The he proceeded to remove my moms gel pedicure (which lasted well over a month) and just added color to her toenails.
Meanwhile I had a wonderful spa pedicure with gel nails by Stephanie. She also took care of a few shallow ingrown toenails that I had forming. Their spa pedicure comes with organic lotions and salves and a wonderful massage accompanied with hot towels.
Now that they know we both get frequent ingrown toenails they keep an eye out for it so they can cut our nails appropriately to train them to grow the correct way. Who knew?
As we sat there Sam went outside and filled my mommy’s meter with his own change. Then he came back and helped my mommy with travel advice to their native Vietnam.
They are a super sweet couple and though occasionally they speak to each other in Vietnamese you never feel like they are speaking about you. And their prices are fair. $ 80 for both me and my mommy is not bad considering all the money saved from canceling surgery and for better travel plans. $ 80 for just the nail service isn’t been that bad.
The establishment is also very clean. Very comfortable as does not smell like a nail salon. This is the best place for nail care.
