I think I found my new favorite lunch spot! Finally, finally, finally got to come to Nalu and now I regret taking so long to get here! My friend and I were famished so we got lots of goodies and I was so excited I only took one picture! I had the ahi wrap and a tangerine something soda and my friend had the caprese sandwich, a detox juice, and a mint soda thing, and we shared the acai bowl for dessert. And then got coconut lattes! The ahi wrap. Oh. My. Gosh. I intended to save half for later but that 100% did not happen. It was so good. The perfect balance of ahi and salad and avocado. It was delicious. I felt super full so we sat for awhile before our acai bowl. The acai. Okay so I feel like as a local girl the fact that I normally dislike acai bowls is an embarrassing thing to admit. But my stomach always was sore after and so I stopped getting it and just got green smoothies or something. So the acai bowl here is from Brazil and grade A. Not diluted so you’re getting pure acai. We got the nalu bowl so it had strawberries, bananas, bee pollen, and honey. So delicious. I definitely can eat this all the time. We finished the lunch with coconut lattes. Delish. Organic milk. Waialua coffee. Coconut syrup. Yes. I’ll take 5. Jk. Not really. My friend really enjoyed her caprese sandwich and her detox juice. Oh and the sandwiches come with a side salad. So yummy! I will definitely drive from HK for lunch here and recommend stopping in if you’re in the area. Especially after a hike or morning at the beach!

Had the acai bowl and it was a good change of food options since I had been eating heavier foods(I’m looking at you: loco moco, ramen, and malasadas!) The best part was that my acai bowl was layered with oatmeal– they do not skimp on toppings(or I guess bottoms). Oatmeal on top and bottom, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, and MYFAVORITE, which many don’t put on anymore… BEEPOLLEN!!! My parents tried the roast beef and turkey pesto. Both had a great portion of meat and looked really fresh. My brother tried the tuna sandwich. Seared ahi, not canned tuna! Also had the coffee and it was STRONG. Just how I like it! :) Great place tucked in the side street across from the bigger plaza. Would come here again after a day at Lanikai Beach!

A great little lunch spot in Kailua! What a welcome change from all of the Hawaiian spots offering super greasy plate lunches loaded with calories and tons of meat. Though this place isn’t vegetarian, I had no problem chowing down on a veggie-friendly salad while my hubby enjoyed his turkey sandwich. Staff are super friendly and the atmosphere was nice and laid back. Try the mint lime tea!

During a mid-week jaunt to Kailua, Lesliann K. and I were supah hungry after yoga-ing, and found Nalu Health Bar on Unilocal and decided to eat lunch at this bright, cheery little spot! The décor has a comfy, beach-y vibe, with a lovely hand-painted wave on one wall(perfect for Instagramming). We split an ahi wrap and the turkey pesto croissant sandwich. The ahi wrap had a nice balance of cooked fish, avocado, tomato, lettuce, cooked onions, in a spinach tortilla. The turkey croissant was pressed which made the outside nice and crunchy, and it also had yummy sprouts and cheese inside. Both came with a small salad with a bit of dressing. A lovely spot for lunch!

Oh Kailua, You hippie town you!!! I love that there are more and more of these health bar cafes popping up, and keeping Kailua a bit more down to earth than other towns. I have been to Nalu several times now and I love it every single time! They are consistent! The setting is clean, bright, and the staff is so friendly. Every time I walk in I think I will order something new… I spend lots of time browsing the menu but the only thing I ever order is their acai bowls, and they are wonderful. They rival jewel and juice for me! The Acai they use in their bowls is dark, rich and the texture comes out so smooth and thick!!! You can taste all the pure flavors of the fruits and I love that its not watered down like Lanikai Juice. If you are in the Kailua area skip the crowds at Lanikai Juice and head over here to Nalu to get your acai fix!!!

My go to place for acai bowls in Kailua! The acai is not watered down and the fruits are always fresh. I’ve ordered the roast beef sandwich and turkey pesto sandwich and both were made with quality ingredients. Not packaged meat. The pesto wasn’t oily or overbearing but portioned just right so you could taste all the ingredients of the sandwich. Plus they have some cool flavored healthy sodas. The mint lemonade soda is a thumbs up!

Nalu acai bowl was so delicious! Acai base had banana flavor in it, it made the bowl taste smooth and nicely mixed with granola! My boyfriend and I were really into acai bowl during our stay in Oahu and Nalu’s was one of our favorites. The café was very cute, has nice vibes. We’d love to come back when we revisit Kailua.

This place has a wonderful Kailua Healthy café appearance. Very simple, clean, not cluttered or dirty. Love it. My wife and I ordered the Kale salad and the Ahi Wrap, a coconut Late, Kombucha, and a Lean & Green fresh Juice. All of it was fantastic, greens were fresh spinach and kale, and excellent Ahi. The staff was very friendly and hard working. It took a little bit since there were only 2 of them and a couple orders were placed before us. It was worth the very small wait though. They understood this and got us our drinks as fast as they could followed by the food. Highly recommended!

Nalu Health Bar and Café is the REAL deal. If I have to summarize this review in one statement: Best. Acai. Bowl. In. Hawaii! Why is the Nalu Acai Bowl so amazing? Because of the acai mix they use. I love Sambazon Organic Acai juice, and this is the only acai bowl I’ve tried that has the same rich, sweet taste and slightly grainy texture. The mix is evenly blended, not icy, chunky or watery. Thinly sliced bananas and strawberries, crispy granola, a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of bee pollen top it off. I rarely taste something for the first time and simultaneously want to gobble it up as fast as I can, and slow down and relish each bite. The Ahi Sandwich was amazing, as well. The fish is cooked through(phew, not under– or overdone) and broken into bite-sized chunks. There’s just enough sautéed onion, and the tomato didn’t fall out when I took bites(that happens a lot when you eat sandwiches, am I right?!). The side salad is made from the freshest spring greens. There isn’t anything excessive or lacking in this sandwich… it’s just perfect. My friend and I loved the décor of the restaurant. It’s so simple, neat and deliberate. Whether or not the designer kept social media appeal in mind, we’ll never know, but everything about Nalu begs to be photographed. Every seat in the dining room provides the perfect backdrop for food pics or «impromptu» photo shoots. Big windows let in lots of natural light, but there are also filament bulbs hanging above the bench seating area. The right wall is covered in a vibrant mural painted in various shades of green. If Nalu isn’t the definition of millennial catnip, I don’t know what is. I’ve only been to Nalu once, but I’m already in love. I will be back for more!

We are divided on this one. I liked my acai bowl but husband thought the sandwich was just ok. This place has an outdoor patio sort of area with a bar and stools. That is a plus because we had our pooch with us and we needed to find a place where she could stay with us while we ate. I got the Nalu Bowl acai bowl and really liked it. It was not too sweet and had just enough crunchy bits. The bowl came with honey and bee pollen. Just enough of each. My favorite bowl so far. My husband got the caprese panino and although he did not rave about it, he was pleased there was no pesto on it. Too many places add pesto where pesto should not be. Inside the place was really loud. The coffee grinder drowns out all else. Sadly, the coffee machine(which is a La Pavoni!!!) was broken. Major bummer. This is the reason Nalu gets three stars and not four. I will surely be back for another Nalu Bowl and will check out their coffee then.

Nalu has become my favorite go-to for a quick, healthy and super fresh snack! The Nalu Acai bowl is the freshest I’ve tasted on the island. The staff are super welcoming and take the time to get to know their customers!

This café is a hot spot! I go here almost once or twice a week to grab an iced latte with coconut syrup! If you love coffee you’ll love this drink! My coworkers at Soha introduced this place to me and since then, we’re all in love with it! They always order the ahi wrap which looks good every time they get it, and I usually get the zucchini carrot bread or caprese sandwich. I have yet to try their acai bowl and other foods! If you’re looking for a cute lunch or snack, I recommend this place 10⁄10! Super great staff with welcoming customer service and reasonable prices :)

Ahi over a fresh and delicious salad with a beet juice! Yummy, healthy food, helpful staff(was totally cool making sure the salad dressing was gluten free) and nice seating options. We sat outside and enjoyed the view. Much quieter and more pleasant than Whole Foods which can get really noisy. Definitely on my list of places to return. :)

Oh my goodness! My family and I are absolutely in love with this place. We ordered the kale pesto turkey sandwich on a croissant as well as the ahi wrap. The flavor was phenomenal on the turkey sandwich, although I question the«healthy» aspect of it. Doesn’t matter though. So good. The ahi wrap was seared to perfection and stuffed with greens and a tasty sauce.

My FAVORITE acai bowl! :) Sad that’s it’s so far from me, but I love the Nalu Bowl!!! The Nalu Bowl is an acai bowl topped with bananas, blueberries, strawberries, granola, honey, and bee pollen. It comes in two sizes, 16 oz or 24 oz. I’m no acai connoisseur, but I’ve had my fair share of acai bowls on the island. While many places make great acai bowls, this is my favorite. It’s tastes and looks different from other bowls. The base for many local acai bowls consist of acai, apple juice or soy milk, and fruits. After talking to the owner of Nalu Health Bar, I found out their acai bowl is made with pretty much just acai. A little bit of banana and something else(I can’t remember what he said) is added for texture and sweetness. This is why their acai is darker than most bowls you’re used to. Nalu Health Bar only uses Grade A acai! I didn’t even know there were grades, but they use the best! The normal Sambazon acai that we see at the store is Grade C. The lack of juice and fruits makes their acai bowl less sweet. This is probably why I like it so much. I feel like I’m eating a meal rather than dessert. Two different kinds of granola are used in the acai bowls. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Diamond Head Health Bar, but from what I can remember, Nalu Health Bar’s granola tastes similar to theirs. They even put granola on the bottom of the bowl! I love finding those crunchy clusters of granola at the bottom of the bowl when I think I’ve run out. The workers here are very friendly and the café is really clean, open, and beautiful! Nalu Health Bar and Café also serves food, juices/smoothies, and coffee. I haven’t tried anything else since I love the acai too much :)

I was visiting a shop close by when I saw this store. They were still painting & setting it up. My curiosity piqued, I waited until I saw its name show up on Unilocal. When it finally did, I decided I should find out what the buzz was all about! Walked in right when they opened on a Saturday morning. The place is very clean and nicely decorated. There is a huge wave on the wall. There are tables and a small bench area to sit. The counter is against the back. There is a refrigerated display unit with drinks. The menu is big and easily readable. The menu has a nice variety. There a acaí bowls, sandwiches, smoothies, and juices. Everything seems so healthy! My hubby and I ordered acaí bowls. I got the Nalu bowl, 16 oz.(There is a larger 24 oz available.) It is acaí topped with banana, strawberry, bee pollen, granola, and honey. He got the Ala Moana bowl which was acaí topped with banana, strawberry, granola, and honey. The acaí itself was very sweet. I didn’t expect it. I guess I’m used to not so sweet acaí. It was still a good bowl. The 16oz was very filling for me. Hubby enjoyed his bowl. I definitely will be back to try the other items on the menu, like the grilled ahi sandwich!

I was craving something savory, healthy, and local after having shave ice at The Local, and Nalu caught my eye next door. I ordered the Turkey Pesto Croissant and I was impressed by how substantial it was! It was nice and crispy because they heated it in a panini press. There was tons of turkey in it, and it totally satisfied my craving. I’ll be sure to return to try an acai bowl and smoothies when I’m in the area. Definitely check this place out when you’re in Kailua. :) There are plenty of seats(made of reclaimed wood and pallets) and casual setting… perfect for lunch or a replenishing post-beach or post-hike snack!
