Was waiting for the bathroom in the front of the line when a gentlemen walked in front and as I said wait he threw his hands in the air looked me right In the face and walked right past me into the restroom. Since the doors lock is broken(which I didn’t know) when I knocked on the door for him to get out it opened. The guy who worked there came over and kicked ME out. Exact words«I saw the whole thing and I don’t care. That was rude. How would u like it if someone banged on the door when you were in there. take your moped and get the f*** out» if I was being rude what do you call the guy who cut in front of three people on purpose? A friend of the establishment?! This place is a joke and I’ll NEVER give them a dime of my money. I was there to perform comedy l and watch my friend, thanks to them I had a miserable night and wasted my gas

I was physically assaulted by the door guy. Pushed me several times, knocking me down, and then tried to punch me, but the bartender jumped in just in time. Wasn’t drunk. Had just gotten there. I gently asked the doorguy to stop beating the shit out of a customer they had already kicked out(and who was already outside and on the ground). Then the guy got rough with me. I wish I wouldn’t called the cops. He broke my phone and I had a small bruise on my face.

Doesn’t matter what city we visit, the oldman has a nose for the«next whiskey bar» — dive bar. As we were staying in the Vegas of Hawaii(sans the gambling), he wasn’t really feeling the foo-foo bars on the strip. Luckily, the bartender at the soon-to-be-closed Jimmy Buffet’s bar gave us some great intel on where the locals like to frequent. After rambling around off the beaten path, we discovered a nice little swap-meet looking area, a Starbuck’s(where I picked up some requested«you are here mugs»), a somewhat cheesy«french quarter» bar… which was empty other than the two of us — nice bartender though, and then on to what would become the oldman’s home away from hotel. Nice low-key, stiff drink, social, dark, hideaway. I can’t even remember how often we stopped here at this little oasis of chill. The bartenders, and patrons which we met here were so friendly. And, apparently we were there to witness the appearance of the elusive eel who resides in their big aquarium. I highly recommend taking the road less traveled, and parking your ass at a barstool in this spot. Mahalo for the good drinks and company!

My friends and I went in for a couple of drinks to start off our night. The place wasn’t busy at all, but for some reason the server still couldn’t get things right. We all ordered our drinks which she didn’t write down… Normally that’s fine if you have a good memory. She returned with our order which was incorrect and we asked for her to return with the correct order. My friend asked for an orange and she said uhh do you know how expensive those are in Hawaii??! … And never brought one. She said they required a credit card to keep the tab open, but promised she wouldn’t run all of our separate checks on it. After getting drink orders wrong twice and not apologizing we asked for our tabs so we could continue our evening somewhere else… She came back with one credit card receipt with everyone’s tab charged onto the held card!!! We told her again that we were all separate n she wasn’t supposed to run the held card and all she replied with was«oh» and never apologized, never tried to fix it, and never split up the tabs for us. If you’re looking for a fun night out this isn’t the place.

It’s a dive bar– what do people honestly expect? I’ve only been twice since I moved here, but plan on returning. The bartenders were super nice each visit. The prices are cheaper than what I’m used to in San Diego, so what could I possibly complain about? There is a bathroom, cigarette machine, fish tank. I hear most local bars must close by 2 am, while Tsunami can stay open til 4.

One of my favorite chill bars for just kickin back and having a few beers. They have a pool table, good live music many of the nights i’ve been there, and the employees that work there are cool peoples. I always have a good fun time here.

Cool door guy on Saturday nights. Live music. But not a lot of people come in. Drinks were good though. A lot of fun.

Overall, I’d say skip it. Sure, it’s great to find a non ritzy place right next to the timeshare, but… There is no food available. none. Since November 2014. Not even an offer of a nearby takeout place that you could order in from, which is very common where we live. We ha pd happy hour deals, beer from Kona brewing and a margarita. Marg was okay. Cleanliness of this joint was questionable. The way extra inventory was stored on the floor made me a little uncomfortable. Bartender had to go in the back to get a maraschino for the patron next to me’s Long Island. The only thing that was decent here were the drinks and the bartender, who seemed to be pretty honest and was sure that we got what we needed, providing they were offering.

Love this place! My husband and I love a good dive… Not much for tourist action. Day 1 on our trip to Waikiki we hit up this joint and everyday after. Got great tips from the staff on good stuff semi-off the beaten path. Big thanks to Gracie, Mark(maybe Marc), Harley, and Imee for making our trip a memorable one! Can’t wait to go back.

A trashy fun little dive bar a block of the main waikiki drag offering loud rock music, cheap drinks and a chill opposition to the overdone tourist bars on the beach. Dress casual for comfort and let your hair down. Beware(or delight) in the hidden back alley whorehouse behind the seedy joint. Grab a beer and dance or hog a barstool and watch the comings and goings.

Beware of this place after 9pm. There are always people walking up and down the street looking for fights, ect. Went to this place and some guy was at the door talking trash and the bouncer that was there didn’t do shit. Stood there. The bathrooms are hard to find because the doors are black and the bathrooms are so small. I just don’t understand why there are so many people looking for fights around here and even playbar area. We all avoid Kuhio period. Scariest area at night on the planet. Gives me goosebumps even during the day.

My husband and I stopped in here on a Thursday night around sunset. It was a little dark and quiet inside, but sometimes that’s exactly what you’re looking for. We each ordered one beer and sat in the back at a small table near the pool table. Another couple was already playing pool so we joined them on the next game. A girl on vacation draped her arms around me and expressed her love for me and the boy she’d met while in town. Got more love from her than the bartender, which was surprising for such a quiet night. I ordered a round of shots in order to meet the credit card minimum before closing our tab and running out the door to catch the shuttle at Ohana Waikiki Malia,(a cute, cheap hotel just a little ways up the street.)

What happened to the nightlife in Waikiki? It feels to me new regulations are killing the selection of bars and clubs, but those that are still around range from trashy to dangerous, or just plain boring. This place is the latter. There’s nothing worse than going into a bar on a busy street at a peak time on the weekend and seeing a handful of patrons. There was no memorable music to speak of, very few people, and no real reason to stay. Since so many places have closed, I figured I’d have a beer just to be out. I had one and ended up rushing through it just to leave. TVs on at night are distracting. People weren’t friendly. I had never been in here before and won’t be back. Beer was cheap, but had to overtip just to close my tab.

Great dive bar for locals. Billiards in the back. Very loud so bring war plugs if you don’t like that. No cover charge.

This place is trash. I’ve never once enjoyed going here. Not because I think it’s shady but just because it’s downright shitty. Last weekend saw the bartenders pouring bar mat shots for what seemed to be regulars. This is when they take all the nasty spillage from the rubber bar mats and dump it into a glass. The bartenders looked really proud of themselves because the nasty fucks at the bar were entertained. Congrats on being disgusting. Not to mention the bartenders taking shots for themselves and being loud and annoying… yay college. Also saw them«wash» the glassware behind the bar and wasn’t so stoked about that process. I didn’t touch my beer that my friend ordered for me because I was disgusted. I hate being dragged into this shithole but after witnessing that I won’t ever be back to give my money to this nasty frat house.

a true dive bar. and I don’t mean that in a bad way. With all the glits and glamour of Waikiki. All the«tourist» hotspots and major chain restaurants. White guys in hawaiian shirts and japanese folks with matchin outfits and gucci shoes… it’s nice to find tsunami’s a block away from the strip on Kuhio. It’s dark and a bit run down and even a bit grimey. GOOD. Just the way I like it because it keeps all the«others» away. I’m no local boy — but I’ve spent two years on the island and as beautiful as the islands of Hawaii is, it’s refreshing to get away from all the tourist. Tsunami’s is the perfect getaway. Cheap drinks and a laid back atmosphere. I came here on a Monday night and Big John was holding it down with a looper, an acoustic guitar, and a microphone. Jamming out to some of the sickest mixes I’ve heard vocally in a long time. It was pure bliss, cold beer in hand, sitting in a dark bar with a couple of friends just jammin out. no worries. I’m back on the mainland now — but I can’t wait to get on back for a hana ho!

This is one of my favorite bars in Waikiki, by far. I come here every time I visit the island. It is a dive bar, so don’t pretend it’s a lounge or something that it is not. Other Unilocalers say it’s seedy. It is definitely not seedy. If you can’t handle the kuhio nightlife, then stay at your hotel. I have never seen an argument, let alone a fight here. The staff makes you feel welcome at all times. Justin, the bartender /manager is awesome. He can make a great drink and will always make time for conversation. Come here if you are looking to meet new friends or to catch a game. I can’t give this little gem of a bar enough praise!

Place is amazing after dark, they serve drinks immediately, only place that serves drinks after 2am, I would NOT shy away from this place, ask for Mark by name he is an amazing bartender and will not serve you a «soft» drink! Have a great night at Tsunamis!!!

This place sucks. I’m morally opposed to any place that requires a credit card minimum then charges $ 7.50 to use their in house ATM machine. But if you want a nasty cash only place, this is your jam.

Bartender has a poor attitude. Great place for lonely, depressed, and those with a victim mentality. Happy Hour prices for draft are on average above the standard for the area. Not to downplay the owner/bartender’s skillset but the vibe is for sore losers and goths alike. Will not return. PS: if you aren’t a football person you will be shunned, stop focusing on things that matter and jump on the NFL bandwagon.

Cool place to stop in and have a drink while shopping or in between meals, and open till 4 in the morning! There’s a full bar and a few good taps including Kona Fire Rock and Goose Island IPA. There’s also a lot of space and a side bar in the back. The prices are also good considering the area. Will be stopping by again soon!

A total dive bar in Waikiki. It was great! The only reason why I’m not giving it more than 3-stars is because I had to look for street parking and walk two blocks to get there. Also I was served whiskey in a plastic picnic cup. But, the bar staff is friendly. And even the security guys are cool.

Stopped in here because I was walking down the sidewalk before noon, and they had a sign out advertising that it was happy hour — score! Drinks were pretty much as expected(the mai tai was a little on the sweet side), and the bartendress(a recent transplant from Northern California) was cute and friendly. I would definitely go back — especially if it was before noon!
