Business Owner

CONOR began an apprenticeship for the art of body modification in 1999 and shortly after found himself in the position of owning the studio he worked for. Conor is now a master piercer of 14+ years and an amazing tattoo artist of 7+ years.

H «the machine» has been tattooing for over 8 years and does some of the cleanest lines you have ever seen. He has the knack to turn any stock flash into a custom art piece for the body. He is also the master of cover ups. Stop by the shop for a free consultation!

LAI has been a professional artist in various mediums of art for over 10 years. The past 4 years he’s been applying his natural artistic abilities into tattooing and creating visually stunning tattoos. He specializes in custom Asian/​Japanese style tattoos and freehand Polynesian/​Tribal designs.

JASON is an art school graduate and been in the professional art industry for over 15 years. Enjoys water color, realism, portrait style, Asian/​Japanese, abstract style tattoos and much more

I have 19 separate pieces all done by one artist while being stationed overseas. For the past 8 years, I have been searching for an artist on island to continue work on my canvas.
I found Lazarus through a friend he is the second person ever to ink my skin. He is not only professional and focused, but he is also friendly and has a light touch. Blasting is his true passion and it shows not only in his pieces, but while also under the needle. I believe to him, it is definitely not «work» or «just a job.» I will definitely be returning to get more ink done.

Lazarus did my cover up!
From intro, he made me feel at ease and prepped for the session in a timely manner. I showed him what I liked and said I wanted something Hawaiian themed, as I am leaving the island in a week. (Lived here for almost 4 years).
I had a great laugh with him throughout, and he showed true passion through his art work.
He aimed to get that tattoo which covered up hideous stars right, and by golly, he did!

Came in, waited about 5 minutes and the piercer helped me out picking out jewelry. He had others waiting but didn’t make me feel rushed at all. He was very professional. The facility was very sanitary and I’m a happy customer when it comes to my septum piercing. Cost $ 70 which is a bit pricey but it was worth the quality in the end. I’d come back here for another piercing or even a tattoo.

Conor is an excellent tattoo artist. He has done many of my tattoos and I find he has a steady hand that makes it virtually painless.
I like to refer to Conor as my tattoo therapist when I am inspired for new ink. He understands the importance of each piece of art he tattoos so it makes the ritual of being under the needle even more special. He is dependable and professional and my number 1 shop. I am already putting money in my piggy bang for my next visit.

I went to Rockstar after picking up one of their business cards at an event. They were pretty easy to find, right across the street from the Waikiki Trade Center, sort of behind Tsunami’s. They have a sign out on the side walk and the whole store front is lit up in neon, so you can’t miss it!
As soon as I went in I was greeted with a smile and «How can I help you today?» (Their customer service was bomb!) I was considering getting a tattoo, because of their awesome Unilocal deal (30% off a tattoo when you check in), but I didn’t have a lot of time, so I decided to just get a cartilage piercing.
The staff worked quickly and like clockwork. I signed the paperwork, paid (they accept cash or card), and only had to wait about five minutes while they set up.
My piercer’s name was Jay, and he was so cool. He talked story with us and had me laughing, so I was super comfortable by the time I got the piercing. I was not tense at all, which made it very comfortable (as comfortable as sticking a needle through your cartilage can be, lol). Even while we were talking, he educated me about the correct jewelry size, how to take care of the piercing, etc. It was all familiar to me but I appreciated his help.
The piercing room was super cool, with a white leather reclining chair and all kinds of sterlized equipment stored in cabinets. Their lobby is clean and welcoming, with lots of art, and all kinds of unique body jewelry in display cases.
I like Rockstar, I’d definitely go back for a tattoo or more piercings!

This review is for Lai…
My wife always wanted a tattoo of a bible verse so it took a long time for her to convinced me since I’m not the type to get tattoo even though I do appreciate some that are done well.
So during our vacation my wife found this place and when we stop by the shop and met Lai; he seems to be very funny, nice and honest so we decided to work with him. Overall we gave him 5 stars because of the service. Lai was very understanding and took the time to go the extra mile to work and gave my wife the best experience possible.
The tattoo scriptures work turned out to be very quality and overall the Lai is a great guy, my wife and I would highly recommend him to anyone since he is genuine and love the work that he does.

My wife and I were looking to get a tattoo to commemorate and celebrate the amazing time we had in Hawaii. This was my wife’s first tattoo. I wanted to find someone that did great color tattoos. I searched online for a few days and found Conor and really liked his work. We went to his shop to talk to him about some ideas. He only had enough time to do one of our tattoos so I let my wife get her’s. Conor was really cool to work with and had some good ideas. He is an incredible artist, professional and I highly recommend him. The other artists and staff were very cool and helpful also. I will definitely look him up if I go back to Waikiki.

i came here to get my first piercing and when i came in it felt a little awkward and it was really quiet and a lil hard to find since their shop wasn’t on the outside of the street it was more inside the square. i was really nervous when i was going to get my ear pierced but the guy talked to me a bit and he was really friendly he also seemed pretty professional so he made me feel a bit more comfortable, and when he pierced it, it did hurt a bit tho (not complaining) But anyhoo overall i think they did a good job, but pricing is a tad bit high for just one ear piercing.

Normally I would do all my own piercings but was looking for something a little more complicated, so I dropped in here. They were consummate professionals from the counter guy to the piercer. I have scar tissue from prior piercings and it was no challenge for them, they had no problem doing a couple pretty awkward piercings all in one sitting. Usually you’ll get some grumbling with the bits I wanted pierced but everything was 100%. It felt more like a doctor visit than your average skeezy tattoo/​piercing shop. Everything was clean, sterilization was done in front of me (before AND after) and the whole procedure was explained clearly in advance. It was immediately clear that getting the procedure done right was a priority to them as they called in people who had never done this piercing to watch so they could do it in the future.
When people tell you that a piercing doesn’t hurt they lie, a good piercer is just done so fast you don’t have time to register the pain and Conor (the piercer who did mine) was a master. In two breathes I had two more holes in my body faster than I could even flinch. Even as someone who has had a lot of piercing I was impressed, there is nothing I wouldn’t let them pierce.
I can’t speak to their tattooing but if I could I’d give their piercing/​Conor 10 stars. They’ve earned my business.

This is my very first time for making a tattoo and it was really great! As a foreign tourist, I am lucky enough to get Jason (also a Chinese!) to finish the whole process. His move was soft and like holding a painting pen. If you need a new design before you decide to make a new one, he is definitely a good choice for you. Also the girl at the front desk is great about introduction. Sorry for not asking the name.

My sister recommended this place to get a matching tattoo with her by the artist conor and I’m super stoked with my tattoo. He drew a great design in memory of our dad with a cancer ribbon and I love how the colors in the tattoo are so vibrant. Super happy with my new tattoo! I’d highly recommend going there for your next tattoo, staff was friendly, prices were fair and the place was clean.

They were really nice and informative and appointment was quick. However trying to call and make and appointment, let alone trying to reschedule will almost never happen. I’ve been trying to call and I’ve left messages and emails to reschedule for over 2 weeks now and I still haven’t received a call back. So I’m not really quite sure if they even received my messages. No one ever picked up or responded.

My wife and I had always talked about getting our first tattoos after we got married. We figured that getting it on our honeymoon was the perfect time!
I stumbled upon Rock Star on Unilocal,and was happy to see that they got great reviews. But most importantly (to me) was that the owner shared the same name as me. Very rarely do I come across another Conor who spells it with one N. It was a sign!
My wife and I were lucky enough to have Conor do our tattoos and it was a fantastic experience. He was very professional and kept it a very relaxed environment which we both appreciated as we were a bit nervous about the whole thing. My tattoo took about 2 hours, but it flew by and honestly didn’t hurt anywhere near as much as I was expecting.
In the end, I’m so happy we stopped at Rock Star. I just wish we didn’t live back on the mainland as I would definitely go back for any touch ups or additions.

When you need to find a place that knows what they’re doing for piercings, make sure you come here. They are fantastic! The guy who did my friend’s nose piercing has been doing this for 15 years and knows how to make you comfortable, knowledgeable about the placing and makes sure everything is clean/​sterile. Great place. Definitely worth it all around!

So I’ve been looking for a place to get my nose pierced for over a month! Everywhere I’ve been to in town has NO PIERCERS! I was so furious! Till I stumbled upon this AMAZING hole in the wall ROCK STAR TATTOOING & PIERCING ! Once I walked through the doors they were nothing but nice and welcoming! Now let me tell you I’m not the easiest customer to work with but they were awsome! I do regret not getting everyone’s name especially the guy who helped me with my piercing but he didn’t just pierce my nose and kicked me out he sat me down talked to me about my nose and how certain positions would look better! It was quick and easy and not as painful as I thought! MAHALO NUI LOA ROCKSTAR! I’ll definitely be back!

Got my nose pierced here. They were friendly and personable which helped ease a little bit of my nervousness. The piercer was very patient with me deciding the perfect location of where I wanted it done. My nose feels great and is healing well. I would go back. However it was 60 dollars which seemed pricey to me. 5 dollar student discount!

This parlor was absolutely fantastic! I walked in here on a whim and they were reasonably priced and my artist tattooed perfectly clean lines and it’s very symmetrical! The guys who work there are very personable, fast, work well, and they’re caliber of work and expertise are definitely top notch. They had great advice concerning my tattoo and my friend who got her belly button pierced and educated us on our new body art very thoroughly. Even their equipment was all brand new! This being my first tattoo and a perfectionist, I was definitely holding high standards and they FAR exceeded them! So glad I found them and would recommend them to anyone!

Got surface hip piercings here and it was a great experience! Conor is the best:) He obviously knows what he is doing and he made me feel comfortable throughout the entire experience. It was nice and clean and he let me watch him open the fresh piercing needles. He was very precise about the placement of my piercings, taking the time to make sure they were perfect. He made sure to explain every step of the process, making sure that I was okay before moving on to a new step. If you need a piercing, Conor is the man for the job:)
