Great secret spot to go to for cocktails, the sunset and Friday fireworks! Located in the Modern Hotel, this bar right by the gorgeous and luxurious pool has great drinks and pupus for a day playing tourist by the water! Parking is metered on the street or valet is available if you pull into the Modern lobby area. Fried calamari is a must-have in addition to a local beer: Maui Brewing Co. Bikini Blonde is on tap! The bar has TVs and tables around it. Unfortunately, the lounge chairs by the pool are only for paying guests. Prices are high and sometimes the customer service can be spotty but overall it’s a great spot for tourists and kama’aina alike!

Love this bar! Great place to come especially during sunset or on Fri evening when they have the fireworks! Great place with outstanding view of harbor and sunset! Their cocktails are good and I also love their breakfast here! Their eggs Benedict are yummy!

I love their Deconstructed Maitai! It’s so different from the ordinal and has so much kick to it!!! I had it last week for the 1st time and wowed me and now I came back here for it. The bar is not only around the bar counter but the cozy lounge chairs also so I like to sit on a sofa. It’s so relaxing and quiet with nicely lighted up pool view. Friendly service always and Happy Hour Everyday from 4−7pm!!! Never tried food yet so one day I’ll try :)

$ 65 pitchers of sangria and pimms??? Incredulous! HOWDAREYOU? anyways, it’s a nice spot. we came for a birthday. the server was a bit overly ambitious — a bit too much for me. of course we were a group of ladies… so that might have something to do with it. i MAY return, but i would make sure i know how much something is before i order.

Drinks here are good! Not necessarily the alcoholic ones, their Fresh squeezed juices are delicious!!! Tried the apple one last night and it was good. It does not taste like what apple juice tastes like. But its good, its still got a little bit of acidic bite to it. The frozen coconut mojito is my favorite alcoholic drink. I don’t think I’ve tried anything else here. The bartenders we had were fun and personable. Ken and Derrick! And the food a bit Pricey, but the chicken pesto sandwich is good, with their criss-cut fries. Definitely give it a try if you’re a guest at the pool bar. The ambience is very romantic at night and nice and cheerful in the day time, unless its gloomy and overcast/rainy.

While we were visiting, my cousin was staying at The Modern Honolulu, so he invited us to hang out by their pool. The pool is really nice and I love the view of the marina. Great setup! The four of us hung out in the shallow section of the pool while sipping on cocktails and beers. The bartender that assisted us for the evening was awesome and really great about suggestions. After sunset, we sat at the picnic-style tables near the bar and had the fish tacos, seasoned fries, and ahi poke. Everything was really tasty! Pretty expensive though; I wouldn’t necessarily say it was worth it. Overall, cool vibe and I would definitely want to come back to tan by the pool.

Very nice pool with thee best coconut mojito. Try it with grey goose vodka instead of rum… much better. Caesar salad w/chicken was good and so is their steak sandwich… very tender. Just a bit overpriced but I guess it is ok as I expected it at a place like this… a place that is as modern as the name of the hotel. All-in-all…very refreshing mojito.

Nice place to get cocktails in Waikiki area. Very laid back, nice lounge chair and friendly staff. As long you purchase food or drinks and tip the waitress well, you have a very good chance to use their pool

Fabulous venue for a poolside party! Laid-back chic, gorgeous at sunset, yummy cocktails and pleasant wait staff. Yes it is pricey, but you are at the Modern, after all. Perfect for getting a drink while waiting for your table at Morimoto’s.

I think Modern Hotel is my favorite spot in Waikiki. I love just hanging out at the Sunrise Pool Bar. They have a great drink menu and awesome food to try. Personally I feel that it is a bit pricey but its something you just have to expect when going into Waikiki.

I really like the pool side bars apparently as I’ve been to two new ones in the last week. But this one is my favorite so far. The wood decks surround the pool and bar combine with the loungiest looking lounge chairs remind me of a swanky LA hotel, like the Roosevelt. We sat at a long picnic style table at bar and had dinner and drinks. The food was delicious. We had a variety of sandwiches and burgers and they were all great. When we requested Thousand Island dressing to go with our fries, they didn’t have any but the kitchen made it for us. Easy enough to make, but nice that they would do that when many places would simply say they don’t have it. The drinks were equally delicious. I stuck to brews as I often do. But others in our party had cocktails and they were quite good. Only complaint was they were out of some of the ingredients, like sage that was supposed to be in one so they improvised with mint. They did warn us that they made it differently and would be more than happy to exchange it for something else if we didn’t like it. But it was still good so we just stuck with that. Full bar and some creative cocktails is usually a recipe for deliciousness. For parking, I’m sure you can valet and they probably validate part of it, but there’s a free lot right outside so we just parked there. You can park by the marina(Hilton side of the road), and at the beach lot out at the end of the point free til 10.30p. And there’s a convenient ramp that goes from Hilton side of the road and wraps around up past the Ilikai and straight into the Modern’s pool area and bar. I’m sure we’ll be back and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a classy pool side bar.

I love the beds by the bar/pool. Although the bed isn’t comfortable, at least you can lay back, drink a drink, and stare at the stars. Ah, relaxing…

I laid back on my deck chair, alone with a drink. Miles away from home, I’m watching as the dwindling sunlight illuminates a cloud passing slowly overhead. For about an hour, I stopped fearing death. Four dollar Kauai golden ale drafts, comfortable deck chairs, fantastic chilled out music on the speakers, and a great view make this the place that I fantasized about drinking at when I booked a ticket to Hawaii.

I am not tan nor do I desire to be. I rarely go into the sun these days bc I loathe sunburn and tan lines.(I’m trying to preserve my youthful skin.) BUT I will make an exception for the Sunrise Pool(and the bar) at The Modern Honolulu. You can’t really beat lounging around a beautiful pool deck with your wonderful bf and some tasty cocktails(and food) at hand. FRIEDCALAMARI($ 10) — w/scallions, jalapeños, and lime aioli for dipping. The lime aioli and jalapeños were what really set this dish apart from lots of the other calamari dishes I’ve ever tried. This dish was good, but not worth booking a stay at The Modern for. I’d probably order this dish again bc it’s both familiar and(almost) different enough(the effort is there) to keep me wanting more. Also, it was perfectly fried and not soggy. BACONWRAPPEDHOTDOG($ 10) — juicy and succulent, topped with pineapple mustard and accompanied with crispy Maui Style Chips. I eat bacon wrapped hot dogs from the Hot Dog King outside Ginza quite often, so I’m no bacon wrapped hot dog novice… I rate this hot dog as pretty average, meaning that it’s not really anything out of the ordinary. I’m just really appreciative to have found something so sinful and right up my alley on a hotel bar/pool menu. The pineapple mustard wasn’t very noticeable. I imagined the pineapple would be subtle, but I figured it’d be more noticeable than it was. I’d order this again bc I love hot dogs, not bc it’s any sort of fantastic must-have. SIBERIANSUNSET($ 9) — a pleasant and refreshing citrusy sweet concoction. I’m not into sweet drinks, but I like citrus and vodka. This was the only cocktail that really peaked my interest on the menu. When ordering, I asked the server to have the bartender ease up on whatever sweetener(perhaps simple syrup) they might put in this thing. I didn’t bother to ask what was in this drink… I was staycationing with the bf, not working. Long story short, I liked it. I’d order it again and again. VERDICT Expensive as it may be, I like it. Hotels aren’t necessarily cheap; they are another way for the local government to rape(not literally) and take advantage of tourists. Expect to pay a pretty penny, but you won’t be disappointed. 3.5 stars Came here with some friends as they have never been. It was a nice Summer evening, so we decided to chill along side the pool, rather than lounge around my usual favorite, the Lobby Bar. The pool is rather smallish and the color not too appealing, as it shown more gray. Not a pool designed for kids, but for adults who want to get their swank on, maybe feel all regal-like. The actual bar area is cute with dinky metal tables that looked quite ridiculous as my rather large-statured friend sat near it and on the dainty fold up chair. The green bottle(no, not Heineken) tree fixtures were a nice touch and added to the relaxed environment. We all agreed, that if we were staying here, this place would be a great reprieve. The sunset view is beautiful looking out towards the sail boats in the marina. It’s a good thing you can’t see the lower halves of these boats as many are in dire need for repair and the trash in the water is disgusting. The actual bar looks unfinished, but provides refreshments by the glass(very limited versus the Lobby Bar) and by the pitcher. The Frozen Coconut Mojito was perfect and we all agreed, very dangerous if spending a day in the sun, ha! Not a bad place to watch the sunset, have a drink, then proceed to plan B. #Yelp 365: 003⁄365

This place is so plush and trendy! Its a great adult place to unwind solo or with a group of friends. I would not recommend taking your children here. They may be a little bored. Mixed drinks will set you back about $ 12 and a drink that I highly recommend is the Frozen Coconut Mojito. OMG! It is so refreshing and good. When ordering drinks at other places in Hawaii they did not offer it, so I am unsure if it is their specialty. I wasn’t able to find it anywhere. :(The ambiance and location either during the day or night is hip and modern. If you have time, worth checking out.

Ok, so this place is fantastic. It’s off the beaten path, and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, but it’s still in the best area of Waikiki in that you can walk everywhere. This place is so great that I actually stay at the Edition for a week at a time and it’s 3 buildings away from my house! So back to the bar. It’s elevated so when you’re laying on your wooden, padded deckchair you’re watching the sun set over the pacific, right over the tops of hundreds of sailboats. The drinks are amazing in that they take creative license with old standbys. They’ve got a whiskey smash with honey and wasabi, and the my favorite: Frozen Coconut Mojito!!! Trust me, it’s worth the $ 10-$ 12 per drink, plus if you’re staying there, just charge it to your room, then it’s like… FREE!(actual price $ 10-$ 12) If you get hungry, I strongly encourage you to try the hummus plate. It’s the perfect amount of food while you’re laying by the pool. If you’re not boozin’ it up, grab a chocolate peanut butter milkshake and have them throw in a banana… amazing! If you get really hungry, just go to the Iron Chef’s place, it’s in house!

Located at the Pool of the new Edition Hotel, I love this bar. The hotel itself is unique and trendy so its only natural that you would have a pool area that is the same. I woul dpersonally liken the hotel to those I found in Miami. Yes Miami! It just has that feel that you have been taken away from tropical Hawaii to the trendy atmospher of Miami. Keep in mind that the bar is not the cheapest. A drink of a Grey Goose Press is going to set you back $ 12 per. The views from this level is great. If you happen to make it there when the sun is setting, you will enjoy a beautiful view over the boats and see the enless ocean.

Our visit here is what prompted me to finally register on Unilocal. It’s a great spot — nice lounging couches, great small tables, and nice tucked away private corners(but still outside) if you want that. But wow — the drink prices were insane. Friday evening, 9 pm, and a standard martini(NOT top shelf) was $ 15. And it wasn’t the best martini ever either. I’d rather spend my drink money at Town or Formaggio’s or Bar 35.

This bar at their Sunrise Pool is a great place to enjoy a hand made drink of top quality ingredients with professional and friendly staff. The bar is an enclave under a canopy of lush Bouganvilla, Hau Trees and other vegetation. Bar stools, picnic tables and hanging lanterns make this a relaxed and welcoming retreat. They offer light flare and of course a full bar menu. This place is great for gathering with friends or just coming out solo and enjoying the serenity of the pool area with its chaise lounge chairs during the day and big comfortable beds with plush pillows at night. Some of the drinks I had here were the Deconstructed Mai Tai. Using top quality liqueur and of course fresh ingredients for mixers, it is topped off with a thick foam that is made from liqueur and a Shiso Leaf. Although the Mai Tai is small, it certainly does its job in the alcohol content. another drink I had here was a Pimm’s Cup. It is a refreshing beverage that is great during a hot summer day or night. You can also order this drink with a friend in a pitcher form. All of their drinks are made right in front of you with time and skill. That is part of the enjoyment of having a cocktail after all.
