First I must tell you that the Queen Kapiolani Hotel is not associated with this place. I stay at the hotel a lot, I have dined in the restaurant 3 times in the last 1 ½ years. was OK the first couple times. The other day I went in the and ordered the BBQ ribs. they brought me two rolls with margarine and not butter(cheap) The rolls had been microwaved and were chewy. I took one bite and sent them back to the kitchen. I was worried that this kind of service was going to be the same with the ribs and I was right, they came on a pile of greasy french fries and the whole thing had been microwaved. I did not even touch it. When I complained to the waitress she said that I always came in there and complained about the food. She had never even seen me before. I asked for the manager and she got the bar tender. He came and I told him about the bad food and he said that I always came in there and complained about the food. I have never complained about the food and had not been in there for 6 months. their patented answer to a anyone who complained I guess. as I was waiting for the bar tender a couple had just finished dinner and came by me and said their food was disgusting and they would never eat there again. they then said that to the bartender and he did nothing rectify the bad meal but say he was sorry. Don’t waste your money here.

The breakfast buffet selection is inconsistent. We ate here last Friday(4 stars) and it was very good offering brown rice, Portuguese sausage, home fries and fresh spinach for omelets. Today, these things were disappointingly not available. Service was not as responsive either.

Had the New Years Eve buffet. Disappointed. Buffet breakfast this morning. Another disappointment. 95% of the food bins were empty. Not worth a star but had to pick one for it to post.

My family and I had the Christmas Eve dinner buffet and was totally impressed with the selections. The prime rib, roast turkey, mahi mahi and salad were so ono. We loved the location at the Queen Kapiolani. Away from the congestion of Waikiki, the Kapahulu location is very convenient. Valet is only $ 5 with validation, My wife and I loved the unobstructed views of Diamond Head and the relaxing atmosphere. We loved the place so much, we returned to Kaulana Terrace for their New Year’s Eve dinner buffet last night for their prime rib, snow crab legs, mahi mahi, salads and peel shrimp. We were totally satisfied. Being a Kamaina, we received a 15% discount and had a great dinner for under $ 42 per person including tax. We are looking forward to returning to Kaulana Terrace for Valentine’s dinner buffet. Mahalo Mike! Keep up the great work. Your restaurant is on the right track.

I decided to write my first review for this place because it was SO disappointing. The food was absolutely terrible. I was told the prime rib was the best thing on the menu so I ordered it as a part of the dinner special with miso soup(the soup of the day). First of all the soup was served lukewarm. The prime rib cut was terribly fatty and tasted weak. The vegetables were bland. The potato wedges were the only good thing on the plate but weren’t anywhere close to redeeming the experience. My girlfriend ordered the Oriental salad which showed up without any oranges. When we asked the waiter brought out a cup of oranges with the limp excuse that the chef«forgot to add them». The chicken in the salad was so tough that we couldn’t even cut it with a knife let alone try to eat it. Overall a terrible experience.

This is my first Full Five Star rating!!! So congratulations to Kulana Terrace. New owner and management after the renovation of the old restaurant at Queen Kapiolani Restaurant in Waikiki sits right across the zoo overlooking Diamond Head. Location & set up is excellent! Very relax settings with modern décor. Classic jazz blue live music band. Don’t worry music was mellow & soft. The view overlooking Waikiki and Diamond Head is breath taking and beautiful. For ONLY $ 17.00, I ordered their Sunset Special which include a 14 oz prime rib cooked for perfection. This is the best prime rib yet next to my previous rating in Royal Kona Resort restaurant prime rib, sorry Royal Kona, this guys beat you, lol. Prime rib was laid over a bed of delicious grilled vegetables. The meal came with soup or salad. Both green salad & soup were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked well seasoned. Meal ended with a chocolate pie with crusted Mac nut and coconut I think. It was absolutist delicious. All these for $ 17.00 at a prime location in Waikiki. There are plenty parking across by the zoo, close walking distance. They have a good selection of wine and beer. I tried their house Merlo for $ 6.00 a glass which taste very smooth and delicious. To me, a glass of wine that get me buzzed on my first two sips are good excellent wine, lol. Staffs were excellent and professional. Very attentive. Happy Eating!

Honestly, I was expecting more from a place that got some pretty good reviews from previous guests. Unfortunately, I was less than impressed. The breakfast buffet was very much what you’d expect from a free hotel breakfast buffet — with a couple of extras: ‘fresh’ made waffles, an omelet station, eggs Benedict, and traditional Chinese porridge. By the time I’d gotten to the waffles they’d been sitting in the warmer for so long that they’d gotten quite soggy and rubbery. Food was decent, but not worth the price that we paid, $ 18/person. Really!?! I’d swear that we were paying for the view rather than the food. Sure was a great view of Diamond Head and the beach, but could’ve done some more with the food. By far the most disappointing breakfast during our entire stay in Hawaii — and we had breakfast one day that we bought at the ABC store! Let me just reiterate, the food was decent, just not worth the price. Maybe were were just there on an off day, or I didn’t look closely enough at the reviews on Unilocal

this place is great, the view is very nice, the service was excellent, very good food and the price even better, is fully familiar, but if you want to take a few drinks is fine too, They have parking validation if you parked your car at the hotel. The atmosphere is nice everything was excellent !! It is an excellent choice for any occasion!

The breakfast buffet is amazing. Come to the buffet around 8:30am because that is usually when the rush of people ends. There is no better view of Diamond Head anywhere and there is a nice pool and outdoor seating. My favorite items on the buffer are the mini waffles, pineapple, and croissants. Everything is great and for $ 18 it is a steal of a deal for a buffet in Waikiki. There is great customer service too. Steele is the best bartender ever. And Kim is an excellent waitress. The omelette cooks are great guys and are really funny. Joe always sings along to the music playing in the restaurant and he is an awesome singer. Then there’s Jonathan who can make a stellar omelette. And the famous Jonny Uh-Oh. If he is working on the day you eat breakfast, count how many times he says«Uh-Oh». He is hilarious. Overall the breakfast buffet is an amazing part of what the Kulana Terrace has to offer and I recommend eating there if in Waikiki.

Great gem, in the 3rd floor of the queen kapiolani hotel. Came for breakfast, had a pretty decent buffet, kids only $ 8.(Folks this is a deal in Waikiki ;) Views of diamond head better than you can imagine. Completely unblocked! Make sure to sit outside! Breakfast was good, omelette station great! Kids can run around by the pool and burn off some energy.

This place has a great Sunset Dinner special nightly from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Side salad, 5 entrées selections(pick one), desert and coffee for $ 18. I chose the prime rib and it was really good. The salad wasn’t amazing and the dessert was okay but the entrée was really good. You have a nice view of Diamond head while you eat. Come enjoy happy hour from 2−3pm. If I could give them 3 ½ stars I would

The view from this place is alright. Nothing special. Not many option for food but what they got is tasty. A little over priced. There is a breakfast buffet. The cost is 18 $. Not that many selection and it wasn’t that good. I can get a ton of good food if I walk down the block. There is a nice swimming pool… not that big. I would not go in there thought.

We just discovered this hidden jewel. The views of Diamond Head were absolutely awesome. We ordered the Sunset Special meal and enjoyed prime rib cooked to perfection, a salad, veggies, garlic potatoes, dessert and coffee… all for 14.95. And to top it all wonderful Hawaiian music and hula! We will be back often!!!

This restaurant has to be the best-kept secret in Waikiki and for that reason, I am actually reluctant to review it! On the 3rd floor of the Queen Kapiolani Hotel, with an amazing view of Diamond Head so close you could reach out and touch it! There’s a breakfast buffet that I haven’t tried yet but the menu for the rest of the day is wonderful… really good food at exceptionally good prices. We tried the Kalua Port Nachos(killer!) and Teriyaki Chicken(also killer!). Casual, poolside atmosphere.

We stopped in after a very tiresome day, just wanted to down a few drinks and relax. Pulling up to the valets I gotta say that the valets are great! Customer service is an A+! We come to the Queen Kapiolani hotel because it is a quiet and calming bar w/the cool breeze and no one to bother you. We ordered a beer and decided on sharing a Chicken Wings w/the sauce on the side. Aaah so relaxing. Our bartender, Dallas, has upped her game and striving for professionalism… bravo! Our order arrived almost immediately. It was very flavorful and juicy! With the heaping of perfectly cooked fries. The sweet and spicy sauce was just slightly warmed but the chicken didn’t need it, perfect without it. Hell, it was even garnished w/a sprig of parsley. Bravo! Dallas told us that the cook brines the chicken w/his own special recipe… good call! I mean it’s just chicken but he puts that extra effort for the customers and you know brining has to be planned a head if time. My gf bought another round of beers and decided to again order the Mahi dinner. The Mahi took a little longer but was worth the wait! The fish was grilled to perfection as were the shrimp. I don’t know what the cook added to the beurre blanc sauce to give it just a perfect hint of citrus, lemon juice would’ve made it a different ‘sourness’ flavor. It was garnished w/a sprig of parsley and some lemon zest(which I’m guessing the cook put in the butter sauce.?) and there was a hint of sweetness… good contrasting flavor to the citrus cream… High Five to tonight’s cook! I am writing this because my last review, though it was the truth, it was a little harsh and Kulana Terrace seems to have done a 180. The bartender, great service! This cook, like the last time, again did an excellent job! My gf pointed him out and I went to thank him, one ex-cook to another. He said that he’s happy that it was satisfactory but didn’t seem happy to be working there… I got the feeling that he doesn’t like where he’s working but still puts out the best that he can. A true cook and I hope KT never loses him… or they might be in trouble! This visit was more than satisfactory moving in the right direction.
