We were going to another establishment but they were closed. So glad we happened upon this place! My friends all ordered the tofu platter. So visually appealing and delicious! The iced tea is good and they have a wide variety of drinks. Great place to have a meal with friends

When we walked in we didn’t know whether to sit down or order at the register. We finally asked if we could order after not really being offered help then they told us we could sit at a table and a server would be there to assist us. I ordered the chicken plate with pineapple and loved the chicken it was so delicious. My friend ordered the Tuna sandwich and was not impressed as it seemed to lack seasoning and was nothing special for the price. That was a little disappointing because she was so excited to try that sandwich. It’s a cute new restaurant for sure.

A quaint little restaurant in Kaimuki with delicious food. I had the Loco Moco and it was absolutely delicious. Parking is hard though, there are some spots the parking lot but they fill up fast from the surrounding stores. You can always park on the adjacent side streets but read the signs and make sure you’re not in a towing zone. I have to say that our service was poor. We were only seen the times by our waiter(once for the order, second to give us our food, and third for the check). We ran out of water and no one came to check in on us. We noticed our waiter sneezing over some on our food. The food was great but the experience and service could have been much better.

Great experience! Service was on point from being greeted to having our drinks refilled and dishes bussed. My only peeve was the size of the tables, not enough room to hold all of the food we enjoyed! Food was flavorful and quite original. Ordered the banana granola pancakes. Love the thickness of the pancakes, very soft and moist as well! Loved the generous amount of sliced bananas included, more than enough slices to compliment each bite of those delicious pancakes. Also had the Eggslut and that was definitely an original dish for us. Can’t say I’ve ever mixed a poached egg with mashed potatoes with sprouts only to spread that with some jam on toast but I’m glad I did! The flavors of the potato spread on the toast along with the thick bacon meshed so well. The fresh salad and poached egg added a refreshing palate cleanser in between the heartiness between bites. I’ll be back!

This place is an odd little spot tucked in with all the healthy cafes on Monsarrat. In fact the only reason we came across it was because we were waiting for Diamond Head Cove Juice Bar to open so my friend could get her fave acai bowl. They don’t open til 9am, and my friend was so hungry that she opted to try Sunny Days which was right next door and had just opened up at 8am. Inside is nice and bright. Hardwood floors, white walls, and an open kitchen area. They have what looked to be about 8 – 10 tables, a few were 2 – 4 tops and then one or two longer tables. Each had clipboards with menu pages on them and baskets with small cocktail napkins and cutlery. The menu is a bit of a head scratcher. On Unilocal the business is listed as a Brunch spot and café, but they have a VERY limited breakfast and brunch menu. It’s really more set up for lunch. The brunch menu offers 4 acai/fruit bowl type dishes, 2 egg dishes, and 3 types of pancakes. The pancakes however are on the back page after all the lunch items. And the breakfasts are listed as «dessert bowls» so it’s pretty confusing. My friend opted for their version of an acai bowl called the Sunny Bowl. It had acai with pitaya(dragonfruit), granola, bananas, blueberries, and drizzled with raw honey. It’s cost $ 12. I got a granola bowl that had granola, Greek yogurt, honey, apples, orange slices, watermelon chunks, pineapple, and kiwis. It was pretty good and quite substantial, though I found the large slices of apple and orange hard to eat. My bowl was $ 14. We were also served large glasses of iced water with our meals. Service was pretty friendly, we had a young male help us with our ordering and check. He looked and acted like he might still be in highschool or a freshmen in college. Very attentive, almost too much. Anyways all in all it was an okay experience, but I’m not sure I’d be back when there are so many other great places around that are in the vicinity. Plus they are quite overpriced for what you get. I mean $ 14 for a bowl of fruit and granola? Come on… And for just that bowl it took 20 mins to make… Even though we were their only customers. Due to the open plan of the kitchen we could see the cooks which were young looking college aged guys and they seemed really confused and out of place. I wondered if they were even the regular staff. Sunny Days is ok if you’re not willing to wait for the huge line at Bogart’s or the juice bar to open. But the convenience stops there.

Good food, had the loco moco it was great. But like everyone says service is not so good. Literally as sat there eating 3 – 4 people walked in and then turned around because nobody acknowledged them in the restaurant. It is Japanese owners so I think they run it a little different then some people are accustomed to, like get up and poor your own water and all that, ask for what u need they dont check on you. Order then sit down. But they lost revenue while I was sitting there, and there was only 1 other table eating, place was empty. The food made it worth it so ill be back, but if they hired someone with high customer service attitude and f/b knowledge place could take off.

11AM It was super slow, literally one table was seated. Walked in, no acknowledgement. Stood there for a good 3 minutes until the guy sat us. There wasn’t much to choose from on the menu. I got a sandwich and to be honest, I don’t remember what kind of sandwich I got because it wasn’t all that good. I ate less than half of it and I just couldn’t finish the rest. It wasn’t very appetizing. Or maybe the huge roach on the wall right next to me ruined my appetite, I don’t know. My friend killed it and left it exposed on a napkin at the edge of our table. The guy that served us didn’t even bother to take it out of our site. Service was just horrible! I’ll give this place 2 stars since the presentation of our food was nice. Other than that, this place is a 1 star. I don’t think I’ll be giving this place a second chance.

Parking is a challenge here, but at least it’s free! The ambiance of the restaurant is great. I like the hipster feel and the cleanliness. I was concerned about the customer service after reading multiple negative reviews. It wasn’t as bad as people were saying. Maybe I came at a good time or they changed staff since those reviews? We didn’t get greeted, but it’s a seat yourself kind of place. Very casual and laid back… perfect for brunch after hiking Diamond Head. We tried the Very Berry and Caramel Banana pancakes. If you have a sweet tooth, then you’ll love the Caramel Banana pancakes. They also have savory dishes like the Ahi Poke plate. Overall, I had a good experience here. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s to be expected being in a tourist zone.

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for quite a while and so I was excited when the opportunity finally arose! We came around 12:00pm and there was only one party ahead of us. Red flag #1, there is no waitlist, you literally stand in the doorway in a line and stare at the patrons eating and wait(no one greets you, no one acknowledges what to do when you walk up, you just stand in line and hope you’re doing the right thing). When we were next to be seated I started getting excited when the server was cleaning the empty table because after starring at the menu online I knew what I would get. The server walked up to the doorway, looked past me and the bf and sat the party behind us first because the table was a 4 top. Wait what??? Did that really just happen? Did the server literally sit the people behind us, even though we were first, because it was a bigger table so instead of sitting a 2-top at a 4-top they sat the bigger party!!! YES. WTF. The bf wanted to leave but having stood in line for 25 minutes I didn’t want to walk away and go to another restaurant where we might have to wait in line again. Red flag #2 that I ignored. When we FINALLY got seated we were told they were out of their pancakes. What the heck, they close at 8:00pm and half their menu is breakfast items and they’re already out of some dishes(red flag #3…oh why do I keep doing this to myself). The service was super slow and when we finally got to put in an order we decided on the eggs benedict($ 16), the vegetable sandwich($ 9), and we shared a soda lemonade($ 6). The food is served on cool little plates that are in the shape of tree trunks, but the taste of the dishes were not impressive. The eggs benedict is a little different than a traditional one in that it is served with bacon(instead of Canadian bacon) and has tomato and avocado. That would have been a good combo in my eyes since I like veggies, but with hot bacon and hollandaise served with a cold tomato and avocado it was not as appetizing as I would have thought. The veggie sandwich(which I was looking forward to) was good and packed to the brim with veggie goodness. The only thing I didn’t like was that now instead of a fried egg in the veggie sandwich they switched to egg salad. Boo! I might have ordered something different had I known that because the fried egg was the only reason I got that sandwich. I liked the soda lemonade but the bf commented that it just tasted like 7up with a splash of lemonade and for $ 6, it was a little pricey for a drink. Sadly, for all of these reasons I will not be back. So sad since I had high hopes for this place, but it just did not deliver.

I really wanted to like Sunny Days — they have trendy wooden platters and a cozy breakfast vibe — but I just wasn’t impressed with the service or the food. My friend and I stopped by for breakfast on a Saturday morning, and it was surprisingly empty. Looking back, I wonder if that was a red flag. Our visit started off well. We were greeted warmly and invited to choose our own seat, and that’s pretty much where the service stopped. After picking a table in the back and getting our order taken, no one really checked on us. Ever. Our waiter brought out my ice coffee, but failed to offer me any cream. I ended up waiting a long time until we were able to flag him down once he finally made it back to our section. We also ended up waiting a long time for our food. Once one dish came out, we found ourselves waiting another 10 — 15 minutes for the other. As for the food, the selection was very small and everything was priced pretty high. I ended up ordering the eggs benedict for $ 16 — pretty pricey, and not really worth it considering I’ve had better for less. On the menu they let you know you can add a coffee to your order for $ 4(like it’s a deal or something). My friend ordered the Eggslut($ 14), which was an interesting dish. It’s essentially four pieces of toast that come with a large salad and a bowl of mashed potatoes mixed with egg. Our waiter explained that it’s a popular dish in California and that people usually spread the mixture onto the toast and eat it that way. Unfortunately the poached egg that was on top of the salad was overcooked. Overall, a pretty underwhelming experience. Poor service and nothing really special that makes me want to return. I still recommend Bogart’s and sticking out the line if you’re in the area.

Pleasant atmosphere, great vegan plate for $ 10. Perfect after a week of too much poke and spam musubi! Edit: I think a more flavorful dressing instead of oil would make the salad more savory! And maybe more capers with the grains.

In summary, amazing food but poor service. We tried the very berry pancakes and veggie sandwich. The pancakes were melt in your mouth heavenly and the veggie sandwich was clean yet tasty, leaving me feeling satisfied. Food was definitely 5 stars! The reason for the three stars is for the poor service. It all started when we first arrived, it wasn’t busy, but we still weren’t greeted and stood for 5min at the counter wondering if we had to be seated. We ended up asking and we were shown the way to an empty table. After placing our order, it got a little more busy, maybe 4 more parties arrived after us. But it shouldn’t explain why we waited an hour for our food… we had to ask about our food about three times and the server kept saying that it will come. Then we realized that other tables that came after us got food before we did. When we asked the server about this, she said she messed up the orders. The party next to us said the same thing when they noticed the same thing was happening to them. We finally got our first dish, but waited another 15−30min for the rest of the food. The weird thing was that my mom, who ordered yogurt and fruit got her dish last. I’m so glad the food was good… In the end, we waited 1.5hrs for our food and they gave us a big discount and apologized. I wonder if the service was poor because they’re a new restaurant and still figuring things out or if they don’t have enough staff. I hope their service gets better because their food is good.

I love going small, special, unique cafes. Feeling lucky that the dining area was not busy like usual(half empty), however it took the waitress quite a while to sit us down and other while to take the order. I meant to come try their super fluffy pancakes, but since it was already noonish time, and they no longer had coffee(served til 11am), so I just ordered the Tuesday lunch plate — shrimp & soft shell plate($ 14). My friend ordered the grilled pineapple chicken plate($ 10). They both come with rice(white or brown) and soup. Sounds good! Drooling! We waited for another long time… as the kitchen didn’t seem to be very busy for lunch time, but a bit disorganized. Finally our plates arrived. Presentation very cute. Both lunches served on a piece of wood as plates. My friend’s chicken plate: 3 pieces of nicely grilled chicken thighs with fresh pineapples on a bed of mixed greens. My shrimp/soft shell plate: 4 fried shrimps and a baby soft shell crab on a bed of mixed greens. My shrimp plate was a little sad. First off the 4 shrimps and crab looked like being tossed in the plate without any love. my crab was upside down like a dead thing(yea it is dead! Lol) and shrimps were all over like«whatever», here’s your food, just eat. But that’s okay. It is not fine dining. Taste — Shrimps were mushy and tasteless. And I hope they at least to butterfly and devein them so they are less unpleasant that I was chewing mushy flesh with grainy«vein» … ugh My friend’s chicken was very flavorful, nicely crisped. However all 3 pieces were undercooked. There was still blood in the middle! And our soup and rice were being forgotten. We asked for them and they didn’t arrive until we were half way done with the food. the most upsetting part is consistency. Later I saw 2 other tables around us ordering exact same combo: 1 chicken plate and 1 shrimp/soft shell plate. The other 2 shrimp plates looked much nicer than mine(don’t get me wrong. I not the kind who think I am always the most unfortunate type) But 1) the other were nicely arranged vs my «dead things» tossed around. 2) the others had really nice salad which included fresh pineapples oranges and strawberries. Mine was mostly watery lettuce, even my friend’s plate had a nice mixed of greens and tomatoes. And I had a piece of very old, yellowish, fibery asparagus that is almost inedible. Then, once again, we waited for another quite long time to get the check done. I worry how they operates the flow when they get busy. To be fair, I might go back one more time to try other dishes like pancake and coffee, and maybe another lunch plate. But I really hope to see consistency, especially there are SOMANY small cafes opened here and there. Sunny Days doesn’t have the best location(Bogart’s is right next door too!) and with that price tag, it has to be very outstanding to survive among all places. It’s such a cute place I would love to see it succeed.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a healthy place to eat so we decided to try this new hot spot. We were very pleased with the overall taste, quality and service we received. It was nice that we were able to walk right in and sit down. The tables weren’t to squished and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Our waitress was nice however she didn’t refill our water once and forgot to bring us an extra plate(no biggie). The only problem here is parking! Good thing we wanted to get some exercise so we parked at Kapiolani Park and took a nice little walk. We will definitely come back to this nice little restaurant!

We were in a long line at Bogarts which is about a few shops next door while my man went to ATM to get cash and he found this place. This restaurant is new for two months and less crowded than bogarts. Lucky us! We ordered food and it turned out real good! I ordered my favorite breakfast dish which is Egg Benedict and it was sooooo good!!! Caden, my future stepson ordered his Loco Moco and he loves it!!! The food served on wood plate which is different and looks cool! You all should try it!!! Also, I love how friendly environment this restaurant can be. It looks more of country and simple vintage look.

Sunny Days is located on Monsarrat Ave across the street from the famous pioneer saloon. Parking here is limited. There is a lot with a handful of stalls in the front. Or you can find street parking in the residential areas. The day we happen to visit, seems like Sunny Days was just not having a good day. When we got to the restaurant it didn’t seem busy. However, there were dirty dishes left all over tables that haven’t been cleared yet. I looked around and couldn’t even figure out how to order. I asked the cook and he looked confused at me and said a waiter/waitress will take my order. We sit on the only clean table available and wait. The worker was going back and forth, not exactly sure what they were doing. They weren’t dropping plates or cleaning tables. After about 15 minutes of her not coming up to us, I went to her to ask if I could place an order. Finally got our order in. The Grub. [[ EGGSLUT $ 14 ]] Poached egg on top of a reef salad, with a side of toast and mash potato. The mash potato was suppose to be used as a spread for the toast. [[ EGGSBENEDICT $ 16 ]] This benedict is made with an English muffin, topped with bacon, tomato, avocado, a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Verdict of the food — The presentation of the dish’s are on point. They look wonderful and colorful. However. The cook ruined all the poached eggs on both dishes! That is like the key ingredient to have that runny oozy egg yolk. There was 2 poached eggs on each dish, so out of 4 poached eggs ALLOFTHEMWEREOVERCOOKED. RUINEDPOACHEDEGGS 1) 2) Overall: I was very disappointed with my visit to Sunny Days. The service was slow and the waitress never checked on us once. I was extremely disappointed with my food because the cook ruined my eggs. I really hope this was just an off day for them and this isn’t how they always do things. =/

Eating Sunny Days really does help keep the clouds away… well metaphorically at least. The pancakes at this place will brighten your day and put a smile on your face. I went there a few weeks after they opened up next to Diamond Head Cove Health Bar and Bogart’s in the little strip mall on Monsaratt. The ambience is modern, clean, and very casual so you could definitely stop in after a hike or the beach during weekends. On my visit, I dived in to their decadent Caramel Banana Pancakes which are soufflé pancakes, fluffy but dense and drizzled with sweet caramel. The caramel has just the right amount of sweetness, so no syrup is really needed for this dish. There are bits of sweet granola for texture and a generous amount of banana. My friend tried the Chicken Lunch Plate which is a generous helping of grilled chicken atop a bed of fresh veggies and strawberries and served on a wooden stump. This dish wasn’t anything special, but I admire their creativity in presentation. They also have assorted sandwiches and even a vegan sandwich, but we were both too happily full to try any more items. Prices here can be bit high averaging about $ 14 for sandwiches and $ 17 for the Very Berry Pancakes. The Caramel Banana Pancakes I had were reasonable at $ 10. They also have cold brew and iced tea served in trendy mason jars. Parking at this strip mall on Monsaratt is always a hassle with such a limited number of stalls, but after a little hunting you can find some street parking in the neighborhood. The next time I’m feeling down, I’ll be sure to be back for more soufflé pancakes!

I think I was waiting for Diamond Head Cove to open so I can have an açai bowl… but then I noticed this restaurant next door. It looked very welcoming and at one glance at the menu, I was sold. Sorry Diamond Head Cove, breakfast is at Sunny Days instead. The portions were huge and VERY yummy. It’s a bit pricey, but I think it’s worth it. Service was excellent too. I can’t wait to go back!

Oh Sunny Days, I imagined that I would’ve liked you better. I will give you a second chance. But for now, I’ll give my honest review about today. Food — not bad. But it didn’t amaze me to the sky and back. Ingredients are very fresh and they give a big portion. We wanted to try the pancakes but the waitress got confused and forgot our order. She apologized so I’m not mad. I think she was the only server and perhaps new(the establishment itself is pretty new). First she told us they ran out of pancakes then she said they were available and they never came out. So at the end of the meal she asked if we wanted the bill. I said, «Yes, and the pancakes too please?» Then she’s like, «You wanted the pancakes?» Ummm. Shrimp sandwich — the filling was overwhelming yummy but the bread was kind of hard. I wish they would use softer bread. Eggs Benedict — my friend got this and he enjoyed it. It comes topped with bacon, avocado, tomato, poached egg, and hollandaise sauce on top of an English muffin. Lots of crispy bacon! Good hollandaise sauce but the egg was a little too well done. It was runny on the inside like it should be. Prices — this place uses fresh local ingredients and it was pretty pricey! This place ain’t cheap. The fruit iced tea was $ 12(which I wanted but didn’t get cause that’s ridiculous). The sandwich and eggs Benedict were about $ 15-$ 16 each. The berry pancakes were $ 17. Yikes, am I at cream pot?! I love cream pot btw don’t get me wrong. Parking — it’s in the same area as Bogart’s Café. Yes, parking sucks. It’s best to look for street parking. The verdict — will I be back? Like I said yes. But maybe I’ll give it some time.

Sunny Days doesn’t open for another two days but my unknowing son pranced in like he owned the place and they let him use the restroom. As I waited, I couldn’t help but notice how awesome this place is going to be! The décor is beach-inspired but with lots of industrial touches and seating looks plentiful and welcoming. Compared to some of their dark and brooding neighbors, Sunny Days has a very light and airy feel about it. Love the blue accents and the mid-century flair! I didn’t get to try the food(obviously!) but I saw a bunch of their practice runs and it all looked top-shelf. In fact, the food presentation was on par with the top eateries of San Francisco, Portland, and LA. The menu is a solid blend of Hawaiian staples and American favorites. The staff were so friendly, greeting us in unison as we walked in(despite not even being open!). It just seems like the kind of place you want to be! Since I’m jetting back to Cali today, you Unilocal’ers will have to go visit for me when they open on October 10, 2015!
