This little place is a gem, tucked into a place that is out of the way, the most amazing little things lay, or lie? I don’t know, English is a second language for me.
You would think that it would be hard to shop for a woman in her 50’s that has just about everything, but when this is a visitor from the mainland and from a landlocked city the most fun gift ideas are to be had at Sugarcane.
Not only did I find a bunch of little gifts, from soap dishes with aloha flavor to beach bags and throw pillows, the ease in which all this came together in allowed me to spoil myself at the sandwich shop across the hall.
The young woman working the counter, was helpful and funny, and after my check in on Unilocal,gave me 15% off the most expensive item I selected, if this isn’t A+ service you won’t find better on this island.

Came here at 10:30 (opening time) to return something we got as a gift, but the store wasn’t open. We waited for twenty minutes and still no signs of anyone! Usually it wouldn’t be a problem and we would just come back, but they only have a seven day exchange policy and we live in Pearl City so it’s not exactly easy for us to stop by every day. If you’re going to say you open at 10:30 please be open otherwise you’ll have more than a few disappointed customers.
When we did finally get in, the worker apologized for being late saying that she was having breakfast with friends (really?!). I guess it didn’t help that I was starving too and wanted to hurry and exchange my items so that I could eat.
Two stars because they do have a nice selection of cute, locally made items. Although it is a bit on the pricey side. Maybe just don’t go at opening time? Meh.

love this little shop!!! Jill always has the cutest locally made goodies and vintage glassware. all the employees are always so sweet and helpful. the vibe is beachy and airy– I would be in there a the time if my budget allowed it.
plenty of parking– free if you’re out in less than 30 minutes but it’s hard to get out of there that quickly with all lovely things to look at lol but still only 50 cents.

We went to sugar cane for the 3^rd Friday Kaimuki art festival. The flyer advertised free champaign to those shopping. There was only one worker and she was extremely rude me and my group of friends completely ignoring us. She was on her phone the whole time! Although the store has really nice things it was off putting to be ignored the whole time. I have been there before and usually the workers are more attentive and welcoming.
There is a large parking lot which is nice, all the products are handmade In Hawaii so it’s great that the store supports local artists.

Kennedy and Jill are a pleasure to meet and very helpful. I love their cute and stylish shop! They carry a wide range of local, artisan, handcrafted, high quality home décor, jewelry and clothing. Great products with Aloha service!

Such a great find! I love the custom pillow cases I bought with the starfish for my guest bedroom. They are so soft and luxurious that my jests compliment me on how cozy and cute they are. I have also bought the custom made onesies as baby gifts and they are always a hit. The owner is almost always there and a joy to chat with. This is my kind of shopping I love Boutiques!

Juxtaposed in a corner of an old Kaimuki shopping center, amidst ALL the restaurants sits a bright and airy space that just doesn’t seem to fit in this Kaimuki scheme of things. It’s SUGARCANE — sugar and spice and everything nice!
It’s ocean and sea inspired thingamajigs, something old, something new, something BLUE. It’s refreshing! It’s the perfect place to shop for while waiting for a table at your favorite restaurant. it’s a tiny store that packs a punch of this and thats. It’s the place to Get Salty and to exalt buying local. I got Salty and a whole lot of happy from this beautiful spot.
Parking’s a squeeze in this tightly knit place but don’t despair, patience wins over frustration.

Sugarcane is a super cute, beachy, shabby chic, vintagey (I know it’s not a real word) little boutique.
I love their pillow covers!!! I have at least 8! I’m completely obsessed!
They have a fabulous selection of vintage Pyrex, and milk glass! I just can’t get enough! It’s so dangerous… I can never leave here with just one piece. I always end up getting several.
Sugarcane also has the best selection of «Get Salty» hats. But being so popular, my favorite turquoise colored ones sell out rather quickly, but rest assured you can place one on hold for your convenience! Follow them on IG so you know when they replenish their stock!
I have to confess that shopping here is a VERY guilty pleasure of mine. BUT the guilt quickly fades away when I remind myself that I’m supporting a locally owned small business, and needless to say that Jill, the owner is the sweetest!
Stop into this amazing little shop located in the Kaimuki municipal parking lot next to the Jamaican restaurant, and near the Happy Day Chinese restaurant. Zip in and out in 15 minutes or less, and your parking is FREE! But I never get my parking for free when I shop here… there are just too many goodies to buy!!!

I love this little place! There is always something that I want to buy. It seems like I find something new every time I’m there. A great place to find a gift.

I just blew a bundle on a mountain of home décor at the Sugarcane Shop … and I couldn’t be more delighted! They’ve got the cutest stuff around. Not too spendy but really cool nonetheless. Looking for something other than WalMart fare? Head on down to Honolulu. Google the address. No time to look it up. The dogs barking at the UPS guy. Gotta go!

I love Sugarcane! I bring all of my friends and family visiting from the mainland to this shop to do their souvenir shopping and this is where I do my birthday/​Christmas/​baby gift shopping. I bought a «GET SALTY» hat for myself the other day and I LOVE it!

Sugarcane was a refreshing gem in a sea of restaurant’s. I loved the local artists combined with vintage and the hip
wallpaper the store is decorated with. I wanted to take some home. After purchasing some very cute pillows, I got some great tips on where to eat from the owner.
This neighborhood packs a punch and the owner here really shows her love for it.
I can’t wait to come back!

I loved all of the stuff here, from home goods to jewelry. It has a beachy, trendy, artsy vibe. I couldn’t get everything I wanted because it wasn’t cheap, but hopefully I’ll return someday on a future trip.

If a mermaid fell in love with a human and came to live as a mortal in Honolulu I’m pretty sure this is the store she would own. Located in Kaimuki, Sugarcane is nestled in the oddest little shopping center. It’s next door to Earl sandwich shop, Himalayan Kitchen and a bunch of other shoe box sized businesses. I meandered into this den of curiosities as I waited for my sammie next door and I’m so glad I took the time to explore.
The store is stuffed to the brim with hand picked specialty gifts with a bohemian sea theme threading its way through the store. Gorgeous coral and seashell printed pillows, custom made hand towels, delicate jewelry, surfing and foodie table books, adorable glass mushrooms for your garden, vintage glassware and more cuteness than you could possibly stuff into a single review! It made me wish I had a special friend to buy something for because everything just felt like it was sprinkled with magical unicorn dust! Sugarcane proves that mermaids have impeccable taste and are very talented merchandisers.
I didn’t buy anything today because I had to rush off to my lunch but I’m certainly going to return to buy a gift in the near future. They have 20% off one item with your Unilocal check-​in and I’ve got my eye on a few pretty baubles that might just end up in my jewelry drawer.

So glad to see Sugarcane still here! Such a cute store and full of all kinds of treasures. It seems that they’ve changed it up recently, which is an improvement.
There are a lot of great locally made items, that will suit many occasions and tastes. A definite must for gifts galore! I love all the beach themes as well as the vintage collection, hand crafted items, and the local flair. From pillows, soaps, jewelry, baby gifts, pictures, glassware and more!
Plus the staff are friendly and helpful. A cool little spot to explore and support the local market.

I just LOVE Sugarcane! It saddens me to see that this place doesn’t have better ratings, because we need more shops like Sugarcane here on Oahu! I love supporting locally owned boutiques, where you can get to know the owners and actually KNOW who you are supporting when shopping there. Every time I’ve shopped here, the owner has been nothing but nice and she obviously has great taste because everything in the store is just perfection.
Sugarcane is whimsical, vintage, shabby chic counterpart to my other favorite local boutique, Quince. A girl has got to have options right? Sometimes I feel very «old soul» and other times I feel like the modern woman that I am (or at least think I am in my head). So when I am feeling my «old soul» self, and am craving a good vintage find, I come to Sugarcane. I sometimes feel like my «island-​beachy» self, in which case I find myself once again in Sugarcane. I am in LOVE with their pillow covers. It’s very «Kaypee Soh» but for a much more affordable price. And whenever I need a great baby gift, this is the place to come! Lots of super cute locally made baby items here!
Parking is in a paid lot, but there must be a grace period because I never end up paying for parking when I visit Sugarcane. Maybe 15 minutes? 30 minutes? Not sure, but even if you stay past the grace period, parking is so cheap. In fact, go and grab lunch from Café Laufer while you’re at it, or get an ice cream cone from Pillbox. I love Sugarcane and it’s definitely 5 star worthy in my books!

My friend wanted to check this place out since it had adorable baby items and just cute knick knacks. After lunch we finally found this place tucked away in the shopping center in front of Jawaiian Irie Jerk Restaurant.
OMG!!! This is the cutest store in Kaimuki. The home décor, jewelry, baby items… I could go on and on. Their baby hats were super adorable but quite pricey. I settled on some vintage Pyrex containers. What a deal! Only 16 – 18 $. These go for quite a bit more on ebay, especially since you have to pay for shipping of these heavy items. I wanted to buy the whole lot!
I also saw a cute set of rattan chairs and asian inspired table. I was trying to decide whether I wanted them or not but realized that something so nice would be stolen from my front porch. I tried to chat up the girl at the counter who was wrapping up my pyrex, but she didn’t reply and gave a faint smile as if I was bothering her with my lackluster statement. Settled… I guess I won’t buy them. Whatevs…
I’m still happy about my hard to find vintage Pyrex cookware. Still a cute store. Still got tons of adorable things. According to other helpers… still need to find better store reps who understand a thing or two about customer service. Until then… I think I’ll go to other adorable consignment stores that don’t lack customer service, like Milieu in Waipahu.

I visit this store about once a month. Each time I find something new and interesting. Cute tea cups at the entrance and some clothing on the back. Accessories at the middle.
So far my experience on the customer service has been pretty good.

I love this store! It’s filled with wonderful vintage and eclectic things. There were at least 20 things in this store that I wanted to buy. I’d say that sugarcane is a great place to find original pieces to decorate your home or purchase cool gifts.
I walked out of the store kinda disappointed that I was empty handed BUT! when I checked in on Unilocal,I discovered the 20% off one item check-​in offer. SCORE! I walked back in and bought gorgeous earrings made by a local designer. But what made my purchase even more glorious is that today they had a sale for 25% off all locally made jewelry. Highlight of my day!
I will definitely be back!
