Most expensive convenience store in Hawaii. Only store within walking distance of the gold Coast hotels so they advantage of that and price gouge. $ 14 six packs of beer. 3 $ waterbottles. Even the statewide standard $.99 Hawaiian isles water bottle is $ 2.09 here. That’s a 210% mark up. Absurd. I’ll be shopping elsewhere.

Came here more times than I should admit during our stay at New Otani. Needed my flavored Coffee creamer, the powdered garbage doesn’t cut it in the room. Also picked up noodle cups(they ran out of chicken so lost a star) and big beers for a cheap quick dinner on our balcony to catch the sunset over the beach on our last night after our day trip ran long.

A great alternative to the ubiquitous ABC stores, Russell’s is a fine corner store serving this end of Waikiki. It is the nearest shop to Diamond Head Beach Hotel, where we like to stay, which means that at least while we’re in town, they do a mean business on vodka, juice, and papayas. Very nice ladies work here I’ve noticed. I didn’t purchase, but am tickled by the presence of condoms and board wax on the same rack right by the cash register. Feel the aloha spirit, babes.

Russell’s is the market under the New Otani Hotel adjacent to Kaimana beach. It’s the most overpriced liquor store in town but convenience is key. 13 bucks for a 6 pack of Heine. 5 bucks for a pack of cheesy aloha playing cards, steep but we needed to scratch our itch and play some trumps and pipito. I almost got a discount, told the cashier I knew Russell. At first she seemed surprised and was willing. I told her I was kidding. Then she asked me how I knew the owners name was Russell? I said, «derr, the name of the store is Russell’s.» She laughed but then proceeded to give me, no discount.
