Honey Glazed Hams

This place has THE best Ham on the island and the service is stellar. It is actually the only ham my family and I will eat, absolutely over and above anything you can anywhere else on Oahu for flavor and quality!

I was never a huge fan of ham till I had some from HONEY GLAZED HAMS OF HAWAIIAN. It’s not too salty like the store bought ones. Each bite is full of flavor and seasoned perfectly!!! I can’t wait to enjoy the leftovers in a sandwich and then…(drumroll) …comes the split pea soup!!!
Oh, did I mention the owner is a super cool down to earth good kinda guy!!!

We have been getting their exceptional hams for for years — every time we go home. After traveling extensively I have never found a more delicious ham. Plus it keeps really well. In addition to fabulous taste, the personalized service is also NO KA OI (Hawaiian for «the very best»).

Best sandwiches on the island!!! There’s a reason why they have been around 25yrs, it is because their ham is like a party in my mouth. I am well traveled but grewup on Oahu and when my freinds from Europe, South America, Canada, Australia, ecetera visit we grab sandwiches from Honey Glazed Hams because I know it is the prefect hike, picnic, beach meal that not only satisfies but leaves smiles on people’s faces. Usually, after their 1^st bite they say, «this is amazing.» I nod coz I agree. And when you walk into their shop, you know they put love into what they do.

The place doesn’t look like much from the outside, and once I stepped inside it looked more like a living room, than a food establishment. Ordered the Ham sandwich on whole wheat, didn’t look like much, but that first bite was gold! MEAT GOLD! I went around lunchtime, and was surprised to see the place was empty. Definitely going back soon.

Drove to town only to arrive at 4:24 pm to a closed shop on 4÷14÷14 .came to pick up a ham for easter sunday. Tried calling but no one in the shop. Sign says «closing at 4:30 today» maybe it should of read «closing early»

Although i’ve lived on Oahu all my life i’ve never ventured to Honey Glazed Hams. But my finance manager wanted to eat one of their sandwiches. When I walked in the door I wasn’t expecting what I saw… a country store. I felt like I was in the store in that movie Baby Boom starring Diane Keaton. A homestyle store where the granny comes out from behind the counter. I love this place. But instead of granny, out came Aunty!!! LOL Not only do they sell ham, but they sell dried ingredients to make soup, they sell honey mustard.
We went there to get lunch… did you know they make sandwiches, and not only ham. They have roast turkey, roast beef. They have several different types of combo you can get with the sandwiches. Soup/​sandwich, sandwich/​salad. Regular or double meat. I was thinking of getting the double meat until Aunty tells me that usually construction workers get that. Okay, well there went that idea. I decided on the regular ham sandwich with soup… portuguese bean soup. Can I just tell you that you HAVE TO ORDER THE PORTUGUESE BEAN SOUP. It was filled with honey ham goodness. Imagine on a cold day scooping a spoonful of warm tomato goodness with spices, minimal beans and macaroni but a spoonful of shredded ham into your mouth!!! Ahhhhhh!!! Yummmmyyyy!!!
I would definitely suggest you go to Honey Glazed Hams at least once in your life. You will surely not be disappointed!!!

Got my ham for Thanksgiving! The service is great! Can’t wait until the holiday season is over so I can enjoy their homemade sandwiches again.

My fiancé has been craving ham sandwiches and found this on Unilocal.His reaction, «how come I’ve never heard about this place??». He also said, «you need to review this place… it needs more reviews». Yup he’s a Unilocal user… albeit a backseat one!
So we finally get to try this place and unfortunately they were out of most of the sandwiches by the time we got there (ummm 1pm!). We both opt for the honey glazed ham sandwiches with mine dry (no mayo or mustard for me!). My fiancé also ordered the Portuguese bean soup.
We take it home since there isn’t a seating area in the place. And I was able to add olive oil & balsamic vinegar to my sandwich. The sandwiches were good and I do like the flavor of the ham, however the portuguese bean soup was the winner. I don’t like portuguese bean soup but I loved the broth and the huge chunks of ham. The fiancé ended up eating all of the chunks though leaving me wishing that I had ordered the soup too!
SERVICE:
The person that served us was really nice and even though I was short 62 cents, she waved it off. So next time, you guys are getting 62 cents extra!
FINAL VERDICT:
I’d definitely go back to try their other sandwiches AND order my own soup!

What can you say about a place that sells Ham?
I can say that they do it to perfection! Not only does Honey Glaze Hams sell their famous Hams, but they also do sandwiches and soup as well.
I frequent this place and have never wrote a review till now. It’s hard to believe that there is so little reviews about HGH and yet they have been around quite a while.
I’m not going to review the ‘Whole Ham” thing. We normally go there to pick up soup and sandwiches to go.
Menus:
This last time I came to HGH I ordered the Ham on a French Roll and Portuguese Bean soup. The sandwich like always stacked with tender slices of perfectly cooked moist glazed ham. Biting into the sandwich you can just taste the sweetness of the ham and combine with the saltiness of the portuguese bean soup makes a great combination. They also have Turkey sandwiches.(For You Non Pork Eaters)
They also sell soup mixes for those leftover ham meat and ham bones.
Friendly service and Parking available in lot.
Just a note if you never been here. West bound on King St it’s the 1^st driveway after The Humane Society.

Can I say, Holy Ham?! Sheesh! Why hasn’t anyone told me about this hole-​in-​the-​wall gem?!
I’d never heard of this place at all before until I was scheduled to have a job interview upstairs. Upon receiving directions to the office, I was asked if I knew where «Honey Glazed Hams» was. I shrugged, mentioning that I had never even heard of the place. The more important question though, is WHY haven’t I?!
After less than a week of working at the office upstairs, I overheard two of my coworkers discussing the irresistible wonders of Honey Glazed Hams’ portuguese bean soup! A couple days after, this conversation ingrained in my mind, I decided to find out what all the fuss was about!
At first, I was a little apprehensive. See, behind the glass doors is a open-​spaced, dark, and somewhat pub-​like deli. It was empty, almost seeming abandoned. However, after my first curious steps towards the counter, a woman hollered «I’ll be right out!» from the back.
Once out, she proceeded to help me figure out what I wanted to order. All I knew was that some portuguese bean soup was in order. But, I knew I wouldn’t say no to a good sandwich either. So, I decided to get the soup and sandwich combo, which was $ 8.99.
The soup comes in 3 different sizes which vary drastically. The combo comes with the small-​sized soup (which is a slightly larger than complimentary styrofoam water cup they give you at the mall). The medium and large are huge, definitely not for this little asian girl to eat alone (unless in the loosely-​fitted comforts of my sweatpants, that is).
When asked which sandwich I wanted, I naturally went for the Honey Glazed Ham. I had it on whole wheat bread and added some good ol’ American cheese. The entire time, the lady working (whose name I learned is Michelle) was unbelievably warm and kind. She asked for my name before I left and waved me and my paper-​bag of treats farewell.
Once back at the office, I gingerly opened that white paper bag to find a steamy cup of soup and a tenderly wrapped homemade sandwich. The soup was fantastic! Chock-​full of portuguese sausage, braised ham chunks, and macaroni. The broth was flavorful and you could taste the soft, melted vegetables within. The sandwich was also a winner! It was layered and layered with thick slices of rosy-​pink ham that was perfectly cooked and smoked with the distinct sweetness of honey between a piece of lettuce, slices of tomatoes, American cheese, mayo and mustard. What a killer combination. I can’t describe a more perfect weekday lunch!
I can now happily say, this may easily be the only reason I enjoy coming to work.

This was a first time experience and probably my last time going there. Good to try to see what the hype is all about.
The BF and I decided to get lunch here. When we walked into the store, it was so quite you could drop a pin and hear it. There should be some music going and it was so hot in there. FIrst thing I said to myself, «guess we have to take out». Would have been nice if they had a place to eat, even if it was outside in the sun. Anyway, it was ok we took lunch to under a tree. So that turned out good.
Both of us got the Glazed ham sandwich. The BF got the french bread (which they did not bake, but you do have an option to have it toasted) and I had honey oat bread. First of all, I was surprised that they had the bread laying in front of you, yep, the ones you can buy at Foodland for $ 6.00 a loaf. Just ordinary brand bread. «What kind of bread do you want? The same ones you have at home or the same one you have at home?»
O did I mention she did not bother to wash her hands before she made out sandwiches??? ewwww.
The honey mustard that was spread onto the sandwich was good but it did not go with the honey glazed ham. Can you say sweet on top of sweet? sweet ham and sweet honey mustard made the sandwich taste like candy.
Ugh. Hope you enjoy your trip there if you would like to try it yourself.

How can it be that no one has written about this place? Its a shining gem in the pork worshiping crown of Hawaii. We roast them, bake them, fry them and shoot them. Yet this place has sadly gone unmentioned. Well, no more! Run out today and get a sammich for lunch or better yet buy your wife a hunk of porker so she will finally serve you a dinner that’s edible! Gentlemen break out your wallets and rev up your eyelashes I’m gonna tell you how this little piggy will come home from the market…
Step 1= Buy your oinker.
Step 2= Bring it home and walk in the door slowly, tilt your head down slightly and look up at her through your eyelashes.
Step 3= Give her that sultry smile and speak in your «Special» voice. (You know the one! Don’t bother denying it.) Speak slowly and let her savor the words. Say: «Hello honey, look what papa brought you home for dinner. Now my hard working woman doesn’t have to do anything but warm it up and we both know how good you are at warming it up…» (Add a wink at the end and keep up your smile.)
Step 4 = Throw out the receipt while shes warming your dinner. DO NOT let her see how much you paid for this ticket to heaven.
Step = 5 Enjoy dinner and hopefully dessert too. :)
WARNING: If she finds the receipt you may have to out run the household objects she pitches at your head, so keep your slippers on!
As for the store itself:
Décor = Same old stuff you’d find in any deli. A couple of tables and a counter that you order at.
Size = Teeny tiny well used space.
Service = This guy is a keeper. I came in asking if the hams are as good as the Honey baked hams from the mainland and he said they were even better because they aren’t frozen, then he promptly proved it by GIVING me about ½ pound of the ham shavings to take home with me. I will be loyal forever thanks to his generosity!
Food = Slobber, slobber slobber… ONO! Go! Right now! Go! Go! Sandwiches and glorious honey hams!
FYI. During the holiday season they get busy and stop serving sandwiches.
Price = Worth it! This maybe a sticking point for the cheapskates and broke folks. If you are picturing a 10.00 supermarket ham you will be disappointed. However you need to understand the quality of what you are purchasing. Fresh, baked to perfection juicy ham. Let me break it down this way. Supermarket ham = Fast food, Honey glazed ham = Chef Mavro’s. Got it? Good!
For a 4 or was it 6lb ham it was some thing like 40.00 to 50.00. Call for pricing cuz I honestly can’t remember the exact cost.

Their honey-​glazed ham sandwiches are winnahs! I’ve never bought their honey-​glazed hams, but I get tempted to every time I order one of their sandwiches.
They tend to get overbooked during certain holidays such as Thanksgiving or Easter, so reserve in advance. They accept cash and major credit cards.
I turned the significant other on to this place 4 years ago, and we come by to get our sandwich fix every so often.

Their specialty is… you guessed it Honey Glazed Hams! The ham’s are so easy to prepare! Just heat and it’s ready! Their hams are hickory smoked, pre-​sliced and glazed with tantalizing sweetness of honey! At $ 7.50 per pound, a 7 lbs ham is about $ 57.00 with taxes.
If your planning a party and want something delicious and easy to serve I highly recommend their honey ham! To place an order just give them a call at least 2 days prior to picking up. They also have gift certificates!

Normally, I hate sandwiches, but their honey glazed ham sandwich on a potato roll was awesome. The roll was soft and sweet, the juicy ham was sliced thick, and it came with mustard, tomatoes, and lettuce. They really have some great ham.
My co-​workers insisted the Portuguese Bean soup was to die for, so I ordered one as well. It was weird. it was a watery, sweet, oily lentil soup with lots of pulled pork and fat in it. I didn’t like it.
The same people who recommended the soup also raved about the cornbread, which I ordered. I took a bite and threw it away when they weren’t looking. It was like cake: soft, moist, and almost without cornmeal. I hate cake. I prefer acutal cornbread with lots of cornmeal in it for flavor and texture. Note to self: my co-​workers have bad taste. I will not listen to them anymore. Ha ha! I can write this now because I have different co-​workers!
