I road by Buffalo Boys today(1÷19÷11) and it was called Kings something. so yeah most likely closed. next time I ride by i’ll go and take pic of the new place Well for a review… went to this place 3 times within the 1st6 months of opening(actually on opening day)…Kinda thought it wasn’t going to last when I went. Menu is just to small and prices to large. Quality overall wasn’t anything special and you could get better else where. Sure the owner was from buffalo and we met him on opening day with my girl friend and her family who are from buffalo and they weren’t impressed. Apparently the owners family also owns a small steak house sandwich joint called«Jims Steakout”(which I also tried and wasn’t impressed). The place had some negatives food wise. they used the wrong types of cheese and sauces for certain sandwiches, the chicken tenders tasted like they came out of the tyson frozen dinner box and the steak sandwiches were stringy and boring. All this with a higher price tag then subway or quiznos. Sure I liked that they were open late and that they tried to cater to their clientele(college kids at the dorms) but they didn’t do a very good job at it.

Is this restaurant closed does anyone know? We call over and over over different days according to their business hours and the phone is never answered, We also went to the location during business hours and the restaurant was closed! Just the fixtures and no sign saying they were closed, nor be back soon or something similar. Maybe Buffalo Boys gave the place back to the bank — last review is in September — Does anyone know what happened to them? Mahalo! Used to have great grindz and it is a shame if that is the case — Aloha.

Had to get a power lunch before a huge business meeting. I heard great things from my townie friends who absolutely loves Buffalo Boys Hoagies so I decided to go here. Went in around 11:30 for lunch. First thing I noticed was a huge mural to the right. It looked like an original with all the brush strokes. Pretty dope. There was an elderly couple in front of me and they were the only ones there besides me and the workers. I took a glance at the menu. «Beer Battered Shrooms… mmmmmmm.» I said with the world’s best Homer Simpson impression. I had a hard time choosing between a Fire hoagie, a spicy hoagie, or the Heart Attack, what seems to me as an artery clogging, bohemoth of a sandwich. Went with a Fire Hoagie because I didn’t wanna fall asleep during my important meeting. Filled my drink up and found a table. Surprising to me was that they had a LCDTV behind the door. And they had it on ESPN!!! And NFL Live was on!!! Andy Reid and the Eagles need to start Michael Vick. I need fantasy points, gad nab it!!! As soon as you knew, the restaurant got all busy and here my food comes. Whew! Just in the knick of time! Of course, first, I had to take pictures of the food. Just for you, Unilocalers!!! My Fire Hoagie, wasn’t too much on fire. Maybe a notch below mild would be more appropriate. It was good though. The beef was pretty tender, I tried to make out the type of cut of meat it was but couldn’t. It was chopped. Could be rib eye if they wanted to be authentic. They onions were sauteed perfectly. The aioli sauce was delicious. The hoagie was nice and warm. It was definitely baked fresh, that day. The beer battered shrooms were really good! Perfect gameday food! Exactly how its described, whole white mushrooms, battered, then fried. Too bad they didn’t come with no dipping sauce, though. Mayo mixed up with Siracha Hot Sauce woulda been dope with these! I wonder what it would be like if it was beer battered then lightly dusted with some panko crumbs? Really good power lunch right before my big meeting.

To be fair I loved this place when it first opened up until about the last time I went which was early in the month. Here is the bottomline on the major differences: * Wings are smaller– the kind you can get at the grocery store. No longer the Costco/Sam’s size wings * I can make this at home– I was trying to figue out what the difference was and it was that I can make the same thing at home now. The crispness was gone since the sauce now drowns the smaller wings. * A while back they stopped accepting credit and debit cards– Now they have an ATM machine that charges way too much When I mentioned that the size of wings and the crispness was gone, the guy said that the prices were reduced. I told him i would pay more to get back the old style. On a positive note the sandwiches are still pretty good. BTW a hoagie is a cold sub sandwich not really a cheese steak sandwich. I am from Philly and parents owned a restuarant there at which I learned to make Philly cheese steak sandwiches. Get the old wings back!

I really enjoyed this establishment when it first open a year ago, but I’m a bit disappointed since they changed ownership. It seems to me that the portions are less and the meat quality is obtained from a lower grade market. The original owner’s were more friendly and the portion’s much more filling. The food is still decent, but only due to the lack of Philly Cheese Steak Eateries available on the Island. When I crave a Philly-style sandwich concocted with think slices of steak, onions, American cheese, banana peppers, and the secret sauce on a toasted French Roll, also known as the«Fire Hoagie», then I will return to Buffalo Boys Hoagies. I was not really impressed by the«Flat Steak Sub»; I found it to be too dry and flavor-less. I suggest the Buffalo Wings(Hot), they are juicy and mouth watering; they are deep fried and not baked. There is parking available on the street or down a narrow alley before the store. The parking stalls behind the store is a bit tricky and be sure not to park in the tenants stalls beside them as it is confusing and there is a possibility of getting towed. On the plus side, I was told that the prices across the board will drop at least a dollar or more starting in Mid-July 2010. That makes it a bit more enticing to try other types of Hoagies. *Attention Students* Show your student ID and receive a dollar off your hoagie. Big plus in my book-Free Refills. Gotta love it.

Are Hoagies suppose to be this expensive? I so wanted to give this place a good review because the food is quite tasty but to pay $ 12 for a sandwich fries and a drink, they’re in the wrong market for their location. with only street parking readily available, they have to basically rely on walk in business consisting of mostly college students. In fact when i stopped by the place was empty beside a single dude. As for the food, it is delicious. There was no A/C on in the place, maybe they were trying to save money. hate to say it but feels like the business is not doing that well :(

I tried Buffalo Boys Hoagies a couple of weeks ago. The service was good, the guys behind the counter where cool with helping us decided on some different hoagies. I thought my sandwich was really good. The fries and onion rings were huge and really good too. I thought the price was a little high, so its probably not a place I would eat often.

Whoa! I know they say it is a Hoagie and not a Philly Cheese Steak, but this is the closest thing to a Philly Cheese Steak I have yet to find in Hawaii. I spent 3 years in Philly, and I miss the cheese steaks so much. The guy that works there said they are different because of the bread and how finely chopped the meat is, but to me it is essentially a Philly Chesse Steak. So Onolicious! The wings are super good too! Get the hot sauce mixed with BBQ… you can’t go wrong. Unlike most places that serve wings, this place actually has some meat on the bones. It is not the most healthy place to eat, but hey, they don’t claim it to be. If you want some delicious heavy food, this is a great spot. THANKYOUFORHAVINGTHISPLACEINHAWAII! It is about time.

We’ve driven past this place a few times and finally went it the other day. It wasn’t very crowed but it was past the peek lunch time and it was a holiday. We got lucky with the parking and got a stall in front, I think the regular parking is in the back somewhere. My wife and I split the mushroom steak hoagie and fries. It took about 5 mins to get the sandwich to our table. It was very tasty and tender, and we both loved the toasted roll from Bale. It was a great mix of flavors. It’s been a while since having a «real» Philly cheese steak, but in comparison this was awesome. They were out of chicken when we went so we’ll have to go back to try that.

Phew, after a week of finals I havent been on Unilocal for a while so time to catch up on some Unilocalin. First off, with my last outing at buffalo boys hoagies i’d say it was a-ok. I came here right at 10:30a when then opened and it was empty. The chairs and tables where not even set up as they were still sitting on the table. Anyway, I found a coupon from the midweek for a bogo free 8″ steak hoagie and found my opportunity to finally go while being able to taste two diff. sandwiches and having dinner saved for later. As I walked in I had to wait a bit since the guy was in the back and didnt notice that I was there so that gave me the chance to look over their menu. Well I ended up getting their steak hoagie that came with fried onions, american cheese and their special sauce and for the second one I got the chicken hoagie with the same thing as above. The wait wasnt too bad, probably 5 – 10 mins. When it was done the guy actually walked up to where I was sitting(on one of the few chairs) and handed me my bag so that was nice. When I finally got home to eat it, it was still a bit warm but from looking at the paper they wrap it in, it was quite greasy. Well I halved both sandwiches to sample and they were pretty good but the bread was really chewy and hard in some places. The flavor of the meats were good but I had to tear some of the bread apart because it was way too much for the meat. I guess its better to have it fresh when they make it because they bread is softer, idk, but I wish it were toasted because I toasted it up in my turbo oven and it was WAY better. Overall $ 8.05 for 2 sandwiches, you cant go wrong with that so i’d probably give them another try.

Steak Hoagie was not good. The fries are very good and the only thing worth eating. Chicken Wings average. Prices are extremely $$$$$ high considering the quality. My favorite part of lunch yesterday was when they charged my wife .65 cents for a small 1oz of spicy sauce, what a joke! This is after spending $ 58– for 4 Combo Hoagies and some Chix wings???(4 people) It was like being at Taco bell and being charged for Taco sauce. Never again!

Quick summary: Overpriced, uninspiring flavors, LOOOOOOONG wait for 3 subs(easily 25 minutes). The Ono Cheesteak Factory in Waikiki puts out a MUCH better product. The best part of the whole experience was watching Clear and Present Danger on the TV mounted on the wall during the near half-hour wait, the worst was coming home with clothes soaked in a grease smell because of the poor ventilation in that place. You can’t expect people to have to wait _that_long for takeout food, which isn’t very spectacular BTW… I dunno what the people were doing behind the counter but they should have tried harder. I didn’t know this place had been open for so long already — a shame they still don’t have their stuff together. Steak = mediocre Chicken = mediocre Novelty Hoagie Roll = OK Special Sauces = not so special

I was driving by last night around 9 pm and decided to pick up another shroom hoagie to go. I settled down at a table with a magazine, expecting to wait at least 10 minutes for my sandwich, but I didn’t even read a paragraph before the friendly counter girl walked my order over to me. Yay! I’m so glad the wait isn’t crazy long anymore! That shroom hoagie smelled so delicious as I drove home that I almost tore right into it in the car. I love that stuff!

Dance like a hoagie guy and«Stinger» like a bee. A crunchy, meaty bee. MMM! Toasted steak sandwiches are a religion to most dudes(dood food), or just wads of freekin’ meat in general. Buffalo Boys has that great dood food fare to entice: hoagies, wings, chicken fingers, salads(boo!) plus sides and sodas to seal the deal. Do they deliver with the quanity? For their hoagies, yes! It was so much that I had to eat my sub with a fork. Something my friend likes to tease me about, even if he was the one who introduced me to the idea. That jerky!(or should I say, «joi-kee»). Is their steak hoagie good? Yes and no. Bread, was right on. Fresh and toasty. Also, seen how they’re prepared on a KHON morning news feature. A neat due-hickey that takes the bread from a top compartment, through a conveyor belt and out the bottom of this uniquely designed oven. Sirloin was decent. How about the secret sauce? I mean it was okay but too sweet for my taste and them using Maui onions instead of the traditional left me feeling indifferent. For the most part, I like my steak’wiches everything but sweet. On to the wings. I’d say the more heat you request, it doesn’t exactly get Hot HOT, just stronger in vinegar(like Hooters). Personally I don’t like my wings this way, in fact plain with the seasonings rubbed in. This may be blasphemy to most but It’s a good thing they let you to mix and match(mild, medium, hot, etc.), plain and even in BBQ. BTW, this is the only place I know locally that sells their wings in sets of 50. Now let’s not rip on their hot sauce here. It actually worked quite well with their«Stinger» sandwich. Now this I had to admit was the one that stood out for me. It’s a hoagie with veggies, your choice of dressing/oil/mayo, sliced sirloin AND topped with chicken tenders. YESCHICKENFREEKIN’ TENDERS! La-Di-Effin-Da! At first I was intimidated, but the«Stinger» turned out to be a very unique tasting item. You get a hint of beef coagulated with a juicy and breaded bit of chicken every bite. It was here having the tenders dipped in «mild» sauce(like the wings, you can choose heat/sauce) worked well with the mayo and veggies. A nice contrast that isn’t too outlandish and surprisingly, for a neatly packed 12-inch, was actually quite light and not too filling. Your talking to a kat who usually can’t finish a $ 5 foot long at that«other place». With hours open past the time most bars are shouting last call(Mon-Sat. 10:30 a.m. — 3:00 a.m.), this joint is ideal for the college/party crowd. Good eats for a great price. I like it here and have returned a few times. The staff never forgets a face and are very friendly, though I hate to say I’ve had better(steak’wiches) elsewhere and by local entreupeners. One thing I found uncomfortable was my first time there and how one of their cooks kept watching eat. Licking the hoagie juice off my fingers, I gave him a thumbs up in approval about three times. Him, even while nodding in acknowledgment, still continued to watch. Talk about cow, carnage and voyeaurism. Object of man crush or not, I’m still returning there for another go at that«Stinger», for sure one of the most delicious and unique tasting hoagies I’ve had to date. Now, if only that young brunette girl working the front to would give me the same kind of play… 3 ½ stars Buffalo Boys Hoagies in Moili‘ili

i ordered the mushroom hoagie and it was pretty good. i didn’t catch the other side of the menu with the flat subs until the cashier girl was telling a customer about it while i was refilling my drink. yeah… next time i’m getting the steak flat sub since it sounds a lot more appetizing with all the condiments and such. my friend got the combo which came with fries and a drink. the fries were really good because they’re crispy. the reason why they’re nice and crispy were because it was fresh outta the fryer. yup, burnt tongue for being a glutton :( overall the food was good, just a little pricey. my only gripe, i’m not a fan of the metallic look of the establishment. just me tho: P

Husband read it in the paper so we had to go. I never had a hoagie so I thought I would give it a try. This place was ok… I got the stinger. The counter person asked if we wanted hot med or mild. We wanted hot but it tasted mild. While we ate it we thought– where’s the HOT sauce. The taste was good but I feel that the price did not match the quality/quantity of the food. The 12 inch was skinny and the french fries were 2.49 for a little(expected more for 2.49). I’d rather spend $ 20 somewhere else…

I heard about Buffalo Boys Hoagies through an article in the newspaper and knew immediately that I had to try it. I should probably preface this review by stating my bias towards any type of hoagie/cheesesteak sandwiches. I absolutely love them, and I truly think they are God’s gift to man. Bread, meat, cheese, onions, mushrooms, peppers. Does that sound like heaven? Because it sure sounds like heaven to me. With that in mind, on to the review… When I went, BBH was relatively empty so I was able to ask some questions and then place my order quickly. The moment that I saw that the smallest hoagie size was an enormous 8 incher(that’s what she said), I knew I was in the right place. I tried to get the cashier to spill the beans on their«special sauce» but he was tight-lipped. The hoagie itself was delicious. Just the right mixture of ingredients, and I liked the fact that they were spilling out of the bread, because I hate when a sandwich is all bread and no filling. Let’s just say I probably had my meat intake for the day from this sandwich. The flavor was a mixture of several different tastes and it molded really well. The special sauce was tasty, but not overpowering, perfect. I also ordered a side of french fries, which were really good, but really expensive. For a small, I’m talking a handful at most, batch of fries, I had to pay $ 2.49. Definitely over-priced, in my opinion. Overall, I can definitely say that I’m a big fan of this place, and I’m gonna be visiting here often when I’m back on the islands. However, maybe next time I’ll get a bag of chips instead of fries to compliment my hoagie… Rating: 4.5÷5 Pros: Tasty and filling hoagie, and crispy, fresh french fries. Cons: Expensive, especially the fries.

i was reading about this«Fire» hoagie in the Dining Out and thought that i should try it. The article says that it’s «smothered with hot peppers and topped with a secret sauce». Well, I guess«smothered» to them means 4 slices of peppers and the secret sauce must be so top secret that they A) don’t put it on the hoagie or B) there really isn’t a secret sauce??? i’m totally disappointed, especially having to wait 15 minutes for this thing. the plus side is that the meat is tender and there’s lots of it. the other thing that i didn’t care for was that whatever cheese they’re using was so… cheesy… i dunno… it was too overpowering… and i like cheese. the article also says,” we’ve tried other hoagies out there and there’s no comparison.” who says? kinda tastes like charley’s subs to me, just with more meat. hey, have you ever had a penn station cheesesteak sandwich? nothing compares to that… so far. *note: we don’t have a penn station here in hawaii… so for now, we’ll suffer.

Rolled in at 12:10PM Waited 24 Minutes for two BLAND, BORING sandwiches„ sandwich comes on big roll with«3−½ oz» of dry meat, TASTELESS. The Manager came out and asked us how everything tasted and was not really interested in our opinion. The reason we had to wait 24 minutes for two sandwiches…“We had about 10 orders at the same time” –the manager. This is not Cuisine, it’s a sandwich, 10 orders? throw 10x meat on the grill & get busy I would advise people to eat elsewhere, VERYDISAPPOINTING. Just another low price, poor customer service pitstop. Place was noisy from radio played too loud and air conditioning was OFF.
